I had messaged to ask if there was a hairdryer before our trip. AI said yes but when we arrived there was no hairdryer. Several messages per day received only AI replies and it was never resolved. We had one fork 5) The frying pan does not work on the hi-tech stovetop 6) The closet is full of builder's waste 7) We could not get the heated towel rail to work 8) We only had five coat hangers, which we hung from screws that were literally falling from the walls 9) There is a smell of dampness. This may because there is no working electric fan in the toilet and shower areas. I bought a can of air freshener 10) The flat has a double bed and futon. There were two of us. We were refused linen for the futon even though we did not want to sleep in the same bed 11) There is no hairdryer Guests with mobility issues should bear in mind that this flat is accessed by approximately 40 steep steps. Please bring your own dishwashing supplies. Kindly bear in mind that if you have any concerns during your stay, it is very likely that nothing will happen to address them."

Burgstraat 17 is an old Patrician house constructed in 1515. Later the house was split into 2 houses and became neglected for many years. In 2019 we started the renovation, with as only purpose, to keep the soul and respect the history and grandeur of the original house. Its exceptional history, unique architecture and central position made it worth doing so. Tears, joy and a lot of work in the place where you are right now. This apartment fit right in as it included many modern features yet retained the integrity of an old Patrician house. We listened to iTunes through the Bluetooth speakers and streamed Netflix and Apple Tv on the large screen TV. The kitchen is bright and modern. We really liked the modern stovetop and appliances. There is also a nice outdoor terrace with a sitting area. There is a downstairs half bath and a large bathroom upstairs with a big glass shower. Every room has its own unique features which are all great but overall, the apartment is spacious, bright, clean and a just very nice place to stay. The owner was very responsive and helpful when we had questions which we really appreciated. I don’t think the pictures can really capture how nice this place is. The location is excellent. The tram is just down the street, and there are many restaurants right in the neighborhood. We highly recommend!"

The space
The house is being renovated step by step. I choose warm tones with wood and lots of light.

The room has a double bed, a two-piece wardrobe, a round table with two chairs, a book case and a chest of drawers.

The bathroom has a shower, a toilet, a sink and a washing machine. You can use the washing machine with your own fluid, strongly recommended, organic washing product.

You're welcome in the whole house, but I share only the bathroom and the toilet downstairs. The other rooms are for private use. If you need some space in the fridge, let me know, then I'll see what I can do. It'll depend if I'm home or not.

I'm a warm person, glad to help you with all the information you want and to leave you alone when needed.

Guest access
As already mentioned: The train station Gentbrugge is opposite the house. It's only a few minutes from the central station Gent-Sint-Pieters.

If you come by car, you can park for free in the P+R E17 Gentbrugge, which is in walking distance.

You can walk along the waterside to the historical city center.

Also public transport is in the neighborhood: bus (nr3)+tram (nr 2). The company is called 'De lijn' in Flanders. You can buy a ticket on the tram with your credit card or you buy one or a 10journey-ticket at a 'lijnwinkel' at Ghen-Saint-Pieters station or at the Korenmarkt (in the center of Ghent). Recently the credit card of a Vietnamese guest wasn't accepted. So If you come from Taiwan, best buy your ticket before hand in 'de lijnwinkel'.

If you want to combine museums and public transport is the city card a good choice.

If you stay long, I advice you to rent a bike. You find sharing electric bikes from Dott opposite my house, under the railway bridge. You can also rent a sharing bike from Donkey Republic.

During your stay
I'm happy to give you information about excursions, eating out or other activities in Gent or other places in Belgium. Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels and the coast are more or less half an hour from Gent by train.

Other things to note
There are restaurants, super markets, bakeries and parks to walk, just around the corner.

You can enjoy 'De Gentse Feesten'. The 26th and 27th are the last weekend of the Gentse feesten.

The Blue Room

You are viewing the listing of ‘The Blue Room’, which is one of 3 room options available for lodging in my shared home. This is a very typical Flemish house so the stairs are very steep and narrow. If you have too many Belgian beers, you could easily slip, fall down the wooden stairs, and easily end up on the ground floor very quickly!!!!

‘The Blue Room’ room is located on the first floor, up the stairs, and directly across from ‘The Pink Room’. ‘The Green Room’ is on the second, which is directly across and under my own personal space ‘The Purple Room’.

Each bedroom is equipped with electric blankets for your use, especially during the winter months. If you require any additional means of comfort, please ask and I can see if I will be able to accommodate.

Please note that the shared common spaces such as the kitchen, dining/living room, and bathroom, are all on the ground floor.

I have shared my home with lovely guests from around the globe and it is my focus and intention to provide a safe environment for all. There may be times when the house is fully booked and communication is key to maintain harmony amongst ourselves. For your comfort and to prevent the unexpected, please message me and ask if there will be any other guests booked at the time of your stay. As a house, we will all be able to come up with a steady game plan!

I cannot emphasize enough that this is shared home. There is a chance that we may bump into each other but by all means, let’s have fun and get to know each other if these kind of interactions happen! All that said, I look forward to welcoming you into my home!

Check in is from 16:00. Check-out is by 11:00. There is a €10 fee per hour for either early check-in or late check-out. This fee is non-negotiable…(this includes early or late luggage “drop off”/“pick up”)…

Extra person staying overnight must be asked for in advance with prior approval (before 18:00). The price is €55 a night per extra person, to be paid for in advance.

If you have a guest over for the night without prior approval, a €125 fine will be charged.

Welcome in my cosy house in Gent. There are 3 bedrooms. One on the first floor and two on the second floor. The stairs to the second floor are steep so be careful. The house is located close to the city center. You can get there by tram, bike or on foot. I ll be glad to give you my advice about the city. I live in the house but will not be there when you are there, only to let you in. You can always text me if you have any question.

Come and enjoy this newly renovated and private space close to the center. Located close to an official ‘P&R’, parking is free and there are many options to go in 10 minutes by public transport to the center of Ghent. By foot you walk around 40 minutes.

The room is located in a rather quiet neighbourhood with little tourist attractions. Perfect for who wants to visit the city, but prefers a more quiet sleeping environment with free parking spaces in the street.

The space
Welcome to your own place. You will find yourself in a shared home with the first floor for you room only. The bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and toilet are completely private.

There's a spacious desk in your room and perfect for work or study. The kitchen and living space have plenty of space to cook comfortably or relax for a while. The newly renovated bathroom includes a spacious shower and the possibility to do your laundry. Only the washing machine itself can be used exceptionally by someone else.

I myself use the floor below and above this room. So the only thing you share with me is the stairwell. The floor itself is not yet closed for the time being, but you can lock each room separately.

Guest access
You rent the full first floor. That will be your own place during your stay. So you have complete access to the kitchen and living space, bathroom, toilet and your own bedroom. Only the washing machine is rarely used by someone else.

At the bottom and next to the stairs, the garbage room is provided, where you can empty your garbage yourself for a longer stay.

The other spaces in the house are only accessible to me and I also use it for work. It was always good to respect each other's peace and privacy. So I'm really looking forward to hosting you!

During your stay
I have a quite complex working schedule. Sometimes I work at home, sometimes I work at the office. As we both have our separate space, we might never run into each other.

Other things to note
You will be sharing the house with me yourself. My areas are a little separated, but I regularly use the stairs that pass along your floor. The floor itself is not closed for the time being, which is especially positive for the light!

During the stay you will be responsible for cleanliness, washing and garbage. If you have any questions or need help with that, just let me know.

I provide a start package of coffee, tea, toilet paper. If you have too little, you will have to buy the necessary yourself. It's definitely not necessary to replenish it before checkout.

The house works with a code. Please remember to pull, not push while unlocking the door. That works perfectly! If you prefer a key, you can do that on request. Please keep in mind that an amount of 150 euros will be requested (replacement of lock and keys).

Warm, bright and cosy south oriented house. The kitchen and dining area are located on the ground floor, as well as the toilet in the hallway. On the atmospheric first floor, there's a relaxing sofa and equipment to watch a movie on the big screen :-) The living room is connected to a little balcony, on which you can enjoy the last rays of sunshine. The bedroom on the second floor contains a spacious double bed, a shower and a bathroom cabinet.
