Ook in de living en eetkamer veel mooie snuisterijtjes. TV met Nederlandstalige zenders, radio, Wifi, allemaal in orde. Veel documentatie over de streek. Elektrische fietsen zijn beschikbaar en die zijn een pluspunt om deze landelijke streek, met nogal wat hellinkjes, goed te kunnen verkennen. Er zijn veel begraafplaatsen en andere herinneringen aan WO I in de buurt. Aanraders in de omgeving zijn provinciaal domein Palingbeek, de stad Ieper met musea en shopping, Passendale Memorial Centre en het kasteelpark errond. Ook Kortrijk is met de fiets bereikbaar via een prachtige tocht langs de Leie. Enige nadeel met het warme zomerweer was het serre-effect van de veranda. In het tussenseizoen zal dat dan weer een voordeel zijn 😊."

Ypres is an amazing place to visit, unbelievably clean and tidy, with such rich history. I highly recommend it as a place to visit and Sven's place is the perfect base to explore it from. With children go to Plopsaland De Panne or amusement park Bellewaerde. In nice weather you can reach the beautiful sandy beaches of the Belgian coast in half an hour. For a cultural day we recommend the art cities Bruges and Lille (F). In the cottage you will be pampered, your beds are made on arrival and the towels are ready.

The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is well appointed. The toilet, with it's own basin, is separate to the shower and the main basin and vanity. There is a small, shady courtyard you can use to relax when you're not out touring. It's a 3-4 minute walk to the Menin Gate where you can see the Last Post ceremony nightly at 8pm. It's approximately 15 minutes walk from Ieper Station. Spar supermarket is about 7 minutes walk. This is more expensive than Aldi, which is about 17 minutes walk. Google maps sent me to Lidl which is not built yet so check Lidl's site before going there :) "

- "The apartment is in a perfect location, very close to Menin Gate and the town square. We were warmly greeted and found the studio to be very clean, well planned, and much thought has been given to the needs of short-stay travellers. It is exactly as pictured and described in the listing. Many restaurants nearby, as well as convenience stores and supermarkets within walking distance. We found it easy to get to and from the train and bus station, about 15min walk, 20min with luggage. Highly recommend a visit to Zonnebeke via 94 bus, to visit the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917. I would not hesitate to stay in this beautiful studio again."

The vacation home is located in a unique natural area, only 1.5 km from the center of the beautiful city of Ypres, known for the First World War and the beautiful location on the hilly Westhoek. Your vacation home is somewhat hidden on a wooded and enclosed property with wild flowers and a natural pond. From the living room and the terrace you have a beautiful view of the garden and the pond. The house has been lovingly restored by the owners and very tastefully furnished. In the living room there is a beautiful bed, which is decorative, but can also serve as an additional place to sleep. In the garden you can enjoy the peace and quiet until late and see the birds that like to drink at the pond. There are also two sheep running around that occasionally say hello.

If you can tear yourself away from this paradise, you can take nice bike rides or go for a walk in the Palingbeek Nature Park, 1 km away. Walk along ponds created by World War I craters, such as Caterpillar and Bluff. Take sporty bike rides on the famous Kemmelberg or the Rode and Zwarte Berg. In Westouter you can admire the landscape from a cable car. If you still have some time, we recommend you to visit the cities of Bruges and Lille (F). Bruges, because of the beautifully preserved medieval city and Lille, because of the beautiful half-timbered houses and impressive buildings in the old town. In both cases you can also enjoy shopping. If the weather is nice, you can be at the beach of De Panne in half an hour, so the vacation home is the perfect place for a varied vacation.

- "Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Butterfly. Ideal location to walk into Ypres but also enjoy the grounds and the tranquil views. Accommodation is beautiful inside and so easy to relax in. Was perfect for our extended family to enjoy a week together here exploring Belgium. Owners were excellent with helpful tips of restaurants and sightseeing. Superb communication from the owners on arrival and departure arrangements. Will definitely be coming back to stay."
