This quiet cabin is located on 5 secluded acres between Boonsboro and Sharpsburg in Keedysville, MD. It is surrounded by tall oaks and pines. A wide path leads to Antietam Creek, popular for fishing, kayaking, and tubing.

Minimum age to rent is 25 years old. Families with children are welcome.

The house has NO TV or A/C. No pets allowed. The fireplace is not woodburning. There is a gas stove insert for heat. There is no air conditioning. The swimming pool is open Memorial Day to Labor Day and is NOT heated. The owner does not live on the property but reserves the right to visit to maintain the landscaping and exterior as necessary. Welcome to our home on the C&O Canal and the Potomac river, an original 1790 log house expanded in 1857, retaining its historic charm while featuring many modern amenities. The perfect place to be physically active or mellow, staying inside or enjoying multiple areas outdoors, day or night (lit with festive night lights).

Reconnect with nature! The expansive grounds have old tall mature trees, native flowers and garden-favorites, bushes, and a fire pit. Bird lovers, bring your binoculars or just watch the bird feeder below the pergola! Many species of birds visit our feeders and baths. Star gazing, far from the city lights, is another Guest favorite.

We are striving to reduce our environmental impact by restoring an American meadow and increasing the number of native plants that can be admired on our grounds. This obviates the need for using chemicals, reducing Potomac pollution, and attracting pollinators and other wild life. You are likely to see and hear numerous types of birds, insects, frogs, and perhaps even some animals and reptiles indigenous to the Potomac area. They are harmless unless attacked.

The maximum capacity of our historic house is 4 guests, the maximum capacity of each bedroom is 2 guests. The use of one of the bedrooms is included in the base price listed, the use of the second bedroom requires an additional charge. The guests need to be able to climb stairs to the entrance door, to upstairs bedrooms, and into the antique clawfoot bath tub. Tall people need to bend a bit when taking a shower.

Secluded, yet not remote, our home is the perfect base for exploring nature on foot, by bike, or by boat. The property is on the C&O Canal and offers seasonal views of the Potomac (when trees on its banks lose their leaves!) across the towpath.

The house is also a great base to explore the many close-by sites important in American history, and quaint historic little towns with good restaurants. Premium Outlet shopping and dining is also within miles.

Visit Nearby Towns
In under 10 minutes you can reach Hancock, Maryland. Visit its restaurants, antique shops, or the C&O Canal. The town also offers easy access to grocery stores, liquor shops, etc.

Just 15 minutes away in the West Virginia mountains is the historic and art-filled Berkeley Springs. Known as “America’s first spa,” the town is filled with unique shops and dining, and offers some of the best spa services around. The town hosts many events, such as festivals and concerts.

Get Outside
Hike or bike the C&O Canal and Western Maryland Rail Trail. Access both in Hancock or 5 miles down the road from the cabin.

Ski Whitetail Resort in the winter, just 35 minutes away. Wisp Resort is about 1:15 away.

Things to Know

The property is located off of a well-maintained road that’s also a snow emergency route (will be plowed first in case of snowfall). Your adventure begins when you access the cabin itself via a 700-foot gated gravel road that is fairly steep in parts. We’ve had large trucks and small sports cars up the road--but please take care and drive slowly to avoid any issues.

You’re in nature! There aren’t any neighbors nearby and it gets very dark at night. You’re also likely to see critters such as chipmunks, lizards, snakes, moths, and other bugs. We don’t have any pest issues in the cabin, but please be aware that you’re sharing the land with God’s creatures.

Firewood is provided for the fireplace and fire pit, should you choose to use them.

The cabin’s water is provided from a well. We have a 2-stage filtration system in place, and the water is safe to drink. The water is drawn from the same mineral-rich mountain aquifer that makes Berkeley Spring famous, so you may occasionally detect a slight mineral odor when running water. This is normal.

The cabin is equipped with high-speed internet and has wifi. Most cell phones get about 2 bars of reception in the cabin.

The space is newly renovated and beautifully designed and decorated to make you feel right at home. This three-bedroom home sits on over an acre of private land providing plenty of space for up to six guests. The entire property is 100% private and yours alone! The home sits at the top of a hill overlooking Antietam Creek Vineyards and parts of Antietam Battlefield with a stunning view of the mountains in the background. The view can be enjoyed best sitting at the brand-new kitchen bar sipping your morning coffee or from the walkout deck on the back of the house! For a change of pace, head into the wooded space in the back of the house and build a fire in the fire pit.

We’re happy to welcome dogs of all shapes and sizes! Our deck features a sliding gate, creating a fully enclosed space where your furry friends can safely enjoy both indoors and outdoors with you. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate cats or other types of pets at this time.

Outdoor amenities/Winery/Battlefield - The large deck attached to the back of the house is accessible through the large sliding glass back door and also from the driveway on the left of the house. A gas grill and utensils are provided on the deck along with a table and chairs for outdoor dining. Definitely, turn on the switch on the bottom of the umbrella pole at night to see the lights inside the umbrella. Immediately to the left of the driveway is another very long driveway/road which is the entrance to Antietam Creek Vineyards, which is about a five-minute walk or a five second drive down the hill. If you make a left at the winery, you will be headed out onto the battlefield towards Snavely Ford Trail and Burnside Bridge. Between the house and the winery is a wooded area which you also will have private access to and includes a picnic area and a fire pit with chairs. Firewood is not provided so please bring locally sourced firewood if you would like to build a fire!

Hot tub - Indulge in the ultimate relaxation with our hot tub, available for use year-round! Whether it's a soothing soak after a day of exploring the Antietam battlefield in the summer or a magical experience under a blanket of stars during winter, the hot tub promises to be a delightful addition to your stay. Nestled under a charming pergola with a retractable shade roof, you can unwind while soaking in the picturesque views of the mountains and historical battlefield. Whether it's a romantic escape or a fun getaway with friends, the hot tub offers a perfect oasis for all seasons, ensuring you have a memorable and rejuvenating stay.

River Tubing/Kayaking - As an added service, we offer up to SIX HIGH QUALITY RIVER TUBES available for you to use along with an air pump to inflate them. Note that the air pump is not cordless so tubes would need to be inflated at home or powered with a car adapter. There is a flat fee of $10 per tube which covers the entire length of the stay. If the weather permits, I highly recommend tubing down Antietam Creek. If your group has at least two vehicles, ask me for info on put in and take out options and you can do it all yourself! Otherwise, there are plenty of local companies where you can tube, kayak, and more and they provide shuttle services back to the put in. There are options both in Antietam Creek and the Potomac River.

Kitchen & Dining Room - There is a large kitchen with plenty of cabinet and counter space, including a brand-new kitchen bar with three bar stools. Dish sets and silverware are included for at least six people as well as pots, pans, ovenware, knives, cutting boards, and cooking utensils. The kitchen is complete with all standard appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, stove/oven, and refrigerator with freezer. The coffee station is a Keurig machine with complimentary k-cup coffee, cream, and sugar. The dining area provides an additional four chairs around a large dining table.

Living Room & Laundry - A perfect space for relaxing, socializing, or watching a movie on the flat screen. Open the closet in the entryway to find brooms/mops/cleaning supplies and the brand-new washer and dryer. Tide pods are provided for your convenience.

Bedrooms - Our three bedrooms are each designed with their own unique feel and character. Each includes comfortable queen-size beds made up with all linens, blankets, quilts, and pillows as pictured. There is a flat screen smart TV in each room for your entertainment and an outlet bay with USB and wireless smart phone charging station on each nightstand.

Bathroom - Our fully remodeled bathroom includes newly tiled floors and a curtained shower with bathtub. Bathroom is fully stocked with the necessities (towels and toilet paper) as well as shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and a blow dryer for your convenience.

Guests have private and exclusive access to the entire 1-acre property which includes the entire house, front and back yards, including the wooded area with fire pit in the backyard that extends down to the vineyards.

The winery often has live music on their outdoor stage which you can usually hear from the deck! It's usually barely loud enough to hear clearly from the deck but creates a nice atmosphere. Check the Antietam Creek Vineyards website for details and live music schedules!

During certain times of year on the property and in the surrounding area bugs can be bad. During these times please bring bug spray just in case if you plan to spend a lot of time outside!

Cell phone service, especially for Verizon customers, may be weak on the property and much of the surrounding area and even downtown Sharpsburg are complete dead zones. High speed WiFi is included onsite and it is recommended that you connect to the WiFi and enable WiFi calling on your phone if you are having any connection trouble.

There is a Ring doorbell system (video camera) at the front door which covers the area in front of the house including the front stoop, entire front yard, and driveway. This is for your security.

- "My friends/partners and I used this home for a weekend getaway to enjoy some river tubing. I feel like the pictures don't due the home justice. The decor is warm and inviting. Beds very comfortable. THe house is fully stocked with plenty of utensils, pots pans, and basic cooking supplies such as oil, salt, pepper, tin foil etc. We rented the tubes available to float on the antietam creek. If you have two vehicles well worth the 10 dollars. We were able to tube on our own time without the chaos of using a large company. The owner was very easy to communicate with throughout the stay. Highly recommend!"

- "This small cottage is so comfortable and well appointed. Directly across from the C&O Canal Towpath; it only takes a few minutes to get on the path. Although there is a lot that you can do in the area, we were in need of respite, so other than taking multiple walks a day, we enjoyed time on the expansive screened-in porch, looking out at the beautiful scenery and listening and watching the birds.We also enjoyed making meals in the kitchen and using the outside grill for bacon to burgers. We slept very well on the very comfortable king size bed. Serena is a great host as she readily replied whenever contacted. We are definitely planning to return. It would be so much fun to tube down the river. "

The space
The house feels like it is a lot bigger than it is. It sleeps two in the queen bed in the loft above and two in the full sized pull out sofa. Perfect for a couple, small family or a couple close friends.. overlooking the forest! Altogether, there is a lot of room outside to relax and play as well as a bonfire pit (we have lots of fire wood don’t need to provide your own wood.)

- "The place was clean and as expected. I didn’t get any check in information and when I reached out 2 hours before check in I got a response saying I’d get information 24-48 hours before check in. I called at 4 which was check in time and left a few messages on the app but didn’t get a response back until after 5pm with the code to get in. This is a newly owned hotel for the traveling worker. We have a friendly staff that will accommodate your stay. There is a family diner connected to the hotel down a short hallway. We have a privately owned coffee/ice cream shop located right off our lobby. Each room has a mini fridge and microwave. We have king and double queen rooms. Relax in style at APM Inn and Suites, where quality meets affordability.

- "I did not stay at the property because when I arrived for check in the entire property has been condemned. This put me in a bind for accommodations and I had to cut my vacation 9 days short and now VRBO is not wanting to refund me the $950 I am out because of this situation" - "Never trust an establishment that doesn't put its name in its listing title. Also, you get what you pay for. The hotel is filthy and reeks of cigarette smoke. There is trash in the hallways and what looks like dried vomit. The carpets seem to have not been vacuumed in months. Window blinds have been ripped off the wall and left lying in the hallway. Obviously, patrons live there long-term, and they are so comfortable as to make noise like they are in a private home without neighbors. I learned this while waiting in the hallway because our door would not open with the key card. The desk clerk finally unlocked it with a metal key, and the knob fell apart. She then expected us to stay in that room with a malfunctioning lock. We left because they wouldn't provide a safe room (one with a locking door that we could leave and return to without the clerk's assistance. Could we have gotten out if there had been a fire?) They also charged us almost 1 1/2 times more than what we paid through this site despite us showing our receipt. The hotel did refund us promptly. This site would not. I also will not use this site again."

We really enjoyed all the 90's memorabilia and watched VHS tapes and played games in the evening" - "I should have stayed here for a week. I was never given access info until I had to get VRBO to contact the host. After one night I found blood on the walls and left immediately. Upon finding this disgusting scene I immediately moved to a hotel and tried to contact the host, but never heard from them. I reached out to VRBO and they would not refund me after pictures and told me to contact the host. This host has not returned a phone call or text to give me a refund. I have been in a hotel for over a week now and they are still trying to charge me. DO NOT ATAY WITH THIS HOST"

We considered calling this house “The View With Some Rooms,” but settled on The Lodge. One of a few units on the property, this private 3-bedroom house includes a rooftop dome (which serves as the third bedroom). From almost every spot, enjoy the jaw-dropping scenery of endless mountains, three states, and the Potomac River.

Camp Potomac Peak was recently (Nov 2024) named the best place to stay in the Eastern Panhandle by WV Living Magazine.

We have two other rentals on the property if you're looking to add more guests--the Cedar + the Cabin! Reach out for a full camp rental (sleeps up to 14).

The space
The Lodge is a two bedroom, two full-bathroom unit with a fully stocked kitchen, cozy enclosed sunroom, adjoining game room, and two private outdoor patio areas. Our third bedroom is... on the ROOF! Sleep under the stars and take in the sunsets in our super cool rooftop dome--the Moonlight. As explained below, because of the cold temperatures, the dome is NOT available as a usable bedroom in January and February. The nightly rate has been reduced to reflect that.

We provide almost everything you need including high-quality linens, luxury bath towels/hand towels/washcloths, extra hot tub towels, paper towels, toilet paper, basic spices/sugar/olive oil, fully stocked kitchen, all-natural shampoo/conditioner/body wash, natural hand soap, dish soap/detergent, etc. (we will email a full list upon booking).

We have two twin air mattresses available with all linens/pillows/blankets.

The Moonlight Dome (king bed) is located just outside the Lodge, and up a flight of stairs. Kick back and relax on the private rooftop deck, and use the telescope to stargaze. The dome shares the second full bathroom inside the Lodge. The dome is air conditioned (with blackout curtains!) during the warmer months. For the colder days, the dome has heat, and a heated mattress pad. Please note that the dome is not usable as a bedroom during the coldest months (Jan/Feb) due to the chill (insulation is limited inside the dome). As such, the nightly rate in January and February has been reduced to reflect 2 bedrooms and 2 baths available.

Upon arrival, you'll find a bag of fresh coffee beans and a s'mores kit waiting for you. Play some foosball, Pacman, or board games in the game room...tune into the Sonos speakers throughout the house...throw on a record...draw on the chalkboard wall...relax on the outdoor sofa while grilling up dinner (Weber grill)...watch a movie on the smart TVs (we provide Amazon Prime and Netflix to make it easy for you!)...throw some logs in the Solo stove fire pit (we stock you with fire starters and dry firewood!)...and cap off the night in the private hot tub under the stars.

Directly across the driveway from the Lodge is our outdoor Lounge area (chairs, cornhole, communal fire pit), which is shared with all guests staying on the property. Rest assured that while the Trading Post is located in the "basement" of the Lodge, there is no access from inside this space into the main living area. Please note, the Lodge shares a driveway with our other rentals—the Cabin and the Cedar. The Cedar, in particular, is located a few yards away from the Lodge, but efforts have been made to include privacy for both. Because we have multiple units within close proximity to each other on the property, we ask that guests respect quiet hours after 10pm. Some of the grounds, and the Lounge area (with the killer view!) located across from the Lodge are shared, common spaces with other guests.

Other things to note
We are meticulous about cleaning, and can ensure that the place will be spotless. The towels and sheets aren’t the only things fresh—as we wash all throw blankets and duvet covers before every guest.

The lodge is dog friendly- we allow one, well behaved dog per stay. We provide dog bowls, sheet, towel, and poop bags. A $75 pet fee covers additional cleaning, as well as a donation to our local Humane Society.

We also live just five minutes away from Camp Potomac Peak, so if anything comes up where you might need assistance with something, we are almost always the ones you will interface with. Jeff is incredibly handy and can fix/solve most anything (but don't tell him I admitted that). We are both personally involved in ALL of the day-to-day operations at CPP, and we are available 24/7 (we provide our personal cell phone #'s upon arrival). We have an absolutely AWESOME team member, Mandi, who does most all of our cleaning and detailing to make your stay perfect. You may see one of us on the property during your stay servicing another unit- please don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable!

We totally understand that things come up and plans may need to change. We allow one reservation change outside of the cancellation window. Requests for changes inside of the cancellation window will result in related penalties per our cancellation policy. Just as we handle cancellations within the window, should the lodge rebook for the original nights of your scheduled stay, a full refund of the rebooked nights will be issued.

We loved unwinding in the hot tub and soaking in the sounds of nature. Everything is so well appointed and thought of for every need. Antietam Battlefield is just twenty minutes away. It also is equidistant between Harrisburg, Washington DC and Baltimore MD, approximately an hour to each. I am providing my guest room. It is a small room with a bed and a side table, with two lamps. It has an empty closet for your use, and there is a full bathroom opposite the room dedicated to the guest as well.
We get to share the living areas and the kitchen. I have most of what one might need to make coffee, tea, or extract juice if that is your preference. There are also enough pots and plates if you like cooking.

Parkview, built in 1898, is a comfortable home located near City Park and downtown Hagerstown. Perfect location for Civil War buffs as several battlefields are within an hour's drive. Convenient for a day trip to Baltimore, DC, or Gettysburg. Centralized location for bicyclists. If you do not love dogs or cats, this may not be the right location for you. I no longer accept guests with dogs.

Our guests rave about the comfortable bed, the peaceful back porch, and central location in Washington County, Maryland !

The guest suite consists of living room, bathroom, bedroom, and kitchenette - all of which are private with a private entrance. Your home away from home whether you’re traveling for work or a getaway.

Relax or work on the covered and screened in back porch, while taking in the sights and sounds of nature in the backyard.

Your private suite comes stocked with coffee, tea, creamer, salt/pepper, dishes, wine glasses, paper products, bottled water, hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner, soap, towels, bed linens, extra blankets and pillows, books, games, and more.

We also have a supply of miscellaneous items that you may have forgotten at home or need while you are visiting.

The back porch and back yard are shared spaces with our family and dog.

Guest access
You will have shared access to the back porch and back yard (you’ll see us and our dog from time to time). Your cozy suite has a private entrance (via the back porch), private bedroom, private bathroom, private living room/Kitchenette). You will also have designated driveway parking.

Other things to note
There is NO SMOKING permitted in or on the property.
We have a strict NO PET policy. The space is not adequate enough for pets. Our family dog does not interact well with other animals.

A printed "Welcome Guide" is provided, which also includes local recommendations and events.

We do our best to provide a sound proof barrier between the guest suite and our family use area; however, you may from time to time hear us, our dog, or us preparing meals in the kitchen (which is adjacent to the guest suite)

PRE CHECK-IN REQUIREMENT:
I require confirmation that the guest(s) who books is the guest(s) who stay - for your protection and mine.

To meet this requirement, I ask that you send a picture of your valid ID once your booking is confirmed and/or no later than 12 hours PRIOR to your ARRIVAL (identification for BOTH Registered Guests).

This may be sent VIA AirBnB Inbox. If you are concerned with sharing your ID, you may block out partial information, EXCEPT your name, ID expiration date, and picture.
