Many of our guests are relocating to Silver City and others are visiting for local events such as the Tour of the Gila bike race, the Silver City Blues Festival or hiking or hunting in the Gila Forest/Wilderness. We are conveniently located within walking distance to downtown shopping, restaurants, museums, art galleries and more.
Our recently remodeled rooms are very comfortable and well stocked. In addition there is a large outdoor common area with a patio and outdoor fireplace, barbecue grill, workshop and sufficient space for secure RV or large - vehicle parking.

She suggested several nice areas for hiking / mountain biking and restaurant and nearby destination suggestions that we enjoyed. She also had info in the house on local attractions, restaurants, etc. We would definitely come back and would like to stay longer and see more of Amy's suggested destinations.."

This is one out of three rentable units under the same roof. You'll need to climb a flight of stairs to access it. The Heart and Wings Retreat Center offers easy access to downtown Silver City and the Gila forest. This serene getaway is five minutes from the highway and ten minutes from the center of town. You can hike or bike straight out of the house, or drive ten minutes to the Continental Divide Trail.

You'll have the second floor of the house to yourself.

This downstairs unit comes with a kitchenette, dining room, large bathroom, bedroom with Mexican rugs, Mexican mirror, desk, chair, queen-sized bed, book case, and two closets. The bedroom opens onto the front porch, where you are likely to be visited by deer, hummingbirds, jackrabbits, cottontails and a variety of birds.

The guest house is situated on twelve acres about three miles from downtown Silver City. The main house on the property also houses my High-Lonesome Bookshop with new and used books about the west, hunting and fishing, natural history, country living and local history.

You must cross through a small creek to get to our property. Please check during the monsoon season (July-September) to see if we recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

This is the master suite of a house that contains two other rentable units, each with their own bedroom, entrance, bathroom, cooking and eating area. This adobe wing of the Heart and Wings Retreat Center has a large master bedroom with a king-sized bed, Mexican rug, hand-painted chest, and a twin sleigh bed.

The foyer includes a queen-sized sofa bed, Mexican rugs and Mexican mirror.

If guests use both the large bedroom and the sleeper sofa in the foyer to sleep, the people in the large bedroom will need to walk through the foyer, past any one of you who is sleeping on the sofa there, to access the bathroom.

The bathroom has twin Mexican sinks and Mexican tiles. The dining room is surrounded by mountain views.

Guests share use of the hot tub with the owners and renters of the two other units under the same roof.

You can regularly see deer, rabbits and quail out the bedroom window.

The location is convenient to downtown Silver City as well as the Gila National Forest. The Continental Divide Trail is a ten-minute drive away. The highway is a five-minute drive away, and it takes ten minutes to drive to the center of town.

You can hike and bike straight out the front door.

The Swan St Cottage is a quaint but cozy lodge style place located exactly in the middle of Silver City. It was our first home for our family of 6 for 10+ years and as our girls continue to grow it is updated and cared for by all of us. It took a while before we noticed one of our daughters was leaving her signature (J) on her work. It can be spotted sporadically throughout the property.

What we love…If you are looking to be in the Gila wilderness you can take a drive in various directions and be there in about 30 minutes. We have a fenced in backyard where behaved dogs are welcome with a fee. We are less than a mile from the track, schools and hospital. Even though traffic can be a little busy on weekdays around 8am and around 3pm you can’t hear it in the house or even in the backyard. We have had the same great neighbors for the last 15 years who watch out for each other. We support Local Artists who display and sell their art in the home. We have keyless entry. Yes we have WiFi. We have smart TV’s that guests can log into any streaming network they subscribe to. There is a full size washer and dryer, fully equipped kitchen. Even towels designated for your out door adventures to the rivers and and lakes. We have a planet marking on the sidewalk by our front yard from the planet walk that many who pass by stop to read the plaque.

What we don’t like… I want to be upfront & clear...the neighborhood doesn’t look glamorous. Houses are close together and Swan Street is one of the busiest streets in town because we are close to the hospital, schools, and track. It is about 1 mile from downtown, however walking along and crossing highway 180 can be stressful. Especially with little ones and pets. There are some places the sidewalk disappears along the way.

If you are looking to be exactly in the center of silver city on a map, then this is the place to be. If you are looking to be in downtown, or in a remote location in the Gila National Forest, we recommend searching for a place closer to your preference.

The property is adjacent to public lands that you can hike on for anything from a half-mile loop to the top of a hill to see the sunset to a multi-loop hike up into the Gila National Forest that could take a full day. Being able to sit on the deck and watch the sunset in the middle of winter was a real treat. Indoors is cozy with a wood stove and soaking tub that made the winter days more pleasant. Scott and Denise were kind enough to let me stay with my cats, and I brought blankets to put over the lovely leather couches to make sure the kitties didn't damage them. I'd highly recommend their place for folks looking to enjoy a long stay in a lovely setting and a fun little town."

The location is just beyond the south edge of the city limits providing convenient access to all the amenities of the town and the isolation of quiet, country living. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, the natural lighting in this passive solar home creates a bright living space with full southern views.

This 2 bedroom, 2 bath home was remodeled from a home to a fully furnished rental with a unique and vibrant copper (cobre in Spanish) warmth. The master bedroom has a king bed, two comfy chairs and a small desk. It has a huge master closet and an open, connected bathroom. The second extra large bedroom has two queen beds, two comfy chairs, a dresser, and a small desk. The second bathroom is separate from, but adjacent to, the second bedroom. The living room has a very large and comfortable corner sectional, four comfy chairs and a large fireplace. In its basic configuration, the dining room seats 4, although 10 or more folks have used the space with the expandable table. Additionally, the dining area features a bar counter with stools that face the kitchen. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The entire private home setting includes three outdoor seating areas with views of distant mountain peaks in or near Mexico. Dark skies provide great star viewing.

This passive solar and environmentally conscientious home perfectly complemented the scenic vistas outside. The hosts live close by and were very responsive, but we really didn't want for anything. The views from the front patio were spectacular during the day and equally remarkable at night with great southern exposure and dark southern star gazing (Scorpio and the Milky Way are nice). We had great weather (warm, but not hot during the day and cool at night) and went on three separate day hikes in the surrounding Gila mountains, including the Cat Walk and the 1,000 year old Juniper Tree at Fort Bayard. There was also an outdoor Blues Festival in Silver City over the weekend with lots of activity in town. We also ate lunch at a local Mexican Restaurant - delicious! We've stayed at lovely homes in Santa Fe, but this was New Mexico at its best! Can't wait to come back!"

I replied that we did not need to move, we simply needed a key that worked or a repair to the lock box. The owner/manager tried to accuse us of breaking the lock box and key or using them incorrectly - when even the repair person could not make them work. I feel terrible leaving this information as I don't know what else was going on with the owner/manger at the time, but it was very unsettling. A guest should feel heard and well taken care during a stay - accusations and threats have no place in the equation."

This is where the house gets its name, the Jelly house! Fully furnished and full of bright colors, creative tile work, and charm, this little house shares the property with a very old fruit orchard is great for a group, couple, or traveling worker wanting a little comfort while having the Gila wilderness in the back yard. The home features WiFi, washer/dryer, spacious bedrooms, a cozy living room and dining area, a snug mountain-style bathroom features a small walk-in shower and all the necessities for a refreshing experience. There is a small bbq grill available outside the house for use along with a water hose your fire safety seeing as we are in a high fire hazard zone. There are 2 parking spaces available right near the house and a circular driveway for easy pull around for all vistes on property. The fruit orchard on property is open for guests to enjoy, it is old so please be mindful of the trees and respectful of the plants no climbing please!

Welcome to our casita in historic Pinos Altos, New Mexico. We are centrally located in downtown Pinos Altos at the Continental Divide Park & Camp, a stone's throw from the Gila National Forest. This newly updated cabin is one of 4 cabins onsite, combining rustic charm and simplicity. It's the perfect getaway for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Stay with your family and friends, or have them join you in another cabin, tent site or RV spot. We are dog friendly! *Non-smoking only, please.*

The space
SIMPLICITY:
Our casita offers comfortable bedding and bath towels for up to 4 guests. The kitchen is fully stocked with all cooking essentials, including a coffee-maker and coffee, tea, sugar, salt and pepper, filtered water jug, and any cooking supplies you need to have a comfortable stay. There are also child-friendly utensils and a high chair. While embracing the simplicity of high desert mountain living, we've also made sure you don't miss out on comfort.

SLEEPS FOUR:
The bedroom hosts a queen size bed and all linens and an optional pack-n-play for young families. The living room provides an additional two twin beds. The twin beds are hideaway trundle beds, converting to a lounge couch during the day where the beds hide away. All linens are provided. There is one full bathroom with shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided and a bath tub in the Casita, connected to the bedroom.

PRIME LOCATION FOR OUTDOOR ADVENTURES:
We are the perfect location for hikers and cyclists, situated on the Continental Divide just 2 miles from the Bear Creek Road access to the Continental Divide Trail, 1.5 miles from the Arrastra Interpretive Site access to the CDT, and less than 10 miles from a multitude of other local hiking trails in the Gila National Forest.

Explore the nearby Gila National Forest and Aldo Leopold Wilderness, a paradise for hikers, road cyclists and nature lovers. These nearby areas boast a plethora of trails and routes through stunning landscapes.

RICH CULTURE & HISTORY:
History buffs will appreciate the casita's proximity to the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument and the rich Apache Native American history of the region. Learn about the legacies of Cochise and Geronimo, just a stone's throw away and the more recent mining history of western settlers arriving in the area.

RELAXATION & EVENTS:
Unwind in native hot springs, located down the road on a scenic drive. Also, our location of Pinos Altos is at the epicenter of the Tour of the Gila bicycle race in the spring, offering an exhilarating experience for cycling enthusiasts. Bring your telescope – dark skies abound for star gazing enthusiasts!

CONVENIENT AMENITIES:
Though you'll be enveloped in nature's tranquility and remoteness in an almost-but-not-quite ghost town, Silver City's resources are only 7 miles south, providing easy access to anything you might need during your stay.

Coin-operated laundry facilities are also onsite at the campground near the Casita for $175.-$2.00/unit.

DOG FRIENDLY:
We welcome your furry companions! Dogs may stay at the cabin for an additional $35 one-time pet fee. No additional fees are required if you have more than one furmily member joining you. Please let the host know if you will be bringing pets. At this time, we are not accepting cats.

Other things to note
Wifi is centrally located at the casita. Verizon and T-Mobile provide decent service throughout the town of Pinos Altos, but AT&T is not reliable.

On Continental Divide at 7K ft. in small mountain community of Pinos Altos ( 7 miles to Silver City), the newly constructed, fully furnished cottage offers elegant passive-solar (warm in winter, cool in summer) getaway on edge of Gila Forest. Well behaved, well groomed dogs are welcome with $20 per night pet fee ($100 weekly) payable during stay.

The space
Pinos Altos Casita is a newly constructed elegant dwelling a short walk from the center of this mountain village at the edge of Gila National Forest. Enjoy a full bedroom with additional bed in loft, accommodating a couple and two children. All new everything, including dishwasher, washer & dryer, with a private porch and outside patio. A peaceful, passive solar place to make your get-away home - just 7 miles north of Silver City. A faraway forest home that's close to city entertainment. Dogs are welcome, and there is a $20 per night ($100 weekly) fee per pet that you can pay during your visit.

Guest access
You can walk out your door onto a trail that takes you deep into the surrounding canyons and mountains. There's a fenced yard for well-behaved dogs. An adjoining outdoor patio for reading, resting, and eating.

Other things to note
The pet fee is $20 per night per night for well groomed, well behaved dogs. Please inform us that you will be bringing a pet in the booking process. Because it is difficult to pay a nightly pet fee through Airbnb, the pet fee can be paid during your stay or we can request the fee through Airbnb.
