Lil Den Chalet is a newly remodeled, modern, 507 sq ft, tiny home chalet with wonderful mountain views. Our chalet is ideal for a romantic getaway, peaceful solo retreat and family's with older children. The basement efficiency can only be accessed from the exterior. We welcome family's with small children but our set up may not be ideal. We are centrally located in the town of Foscoe between Boone (9mi) and Banner Elk (10mi), NC.

When we purchased our tiny home chalet, with my parents, it was in desperate need of being updated from its original 1990's cabin style. We could see the big potential in this little home. Our small but spacious mountain chalet is situated in the heart of nature, surrounded by towering oak trees, large boulders, and, of course, the majestic mountains. It provides easy access to hiking trails, skiing slopes, and other outdoor activities, making it an ideal retreat for nature enthusiasts. Upon entering the chalet, you'll find yourself in a warm, spacious living space characterized by exposed wooden beams, a brand new fireplace and large windows allowing natural light to flood the rooms. Our open floor plan seamlessly connects the living room to the dining area and fully stocked kitchen. Please be aware we do not have a dishwasher. The bedroom is tucked away just off the living room, offering a restful atmosphere after a day of outdoor adventures. Step outside onto the deck and enjoy the mountain views from the porch swing or enjoy a glass a wine while cozying up in our rocking chairs.

The lower level is just down the outdoor staircase and leads you to another living space we call an efficiency. The living area doubles as a sleep space. Our daybed allows for a space to enjoy watching tv or relaxing during the day. While at night a place to lay your head. There are two comfy twins beds in this space. You will simple roll the bed from underneath of the other when you are ready to sleep. There is also a full bathroom and kitchenette. This space is it own little apartment with a separate deck to enjoy the beautiful scenery. You CAN NOT access this area from the upstairs main living area. This space is not ideal for small children but rather older children, friends or family that would like a little extra privacy.

We do have a laundry room available in a separate basement area.

Please note the only area with A/C is our primary bedroom on the first floor. Due to our elevation our home tends to stay cool in summer months.

In addition to enjoying our home you will love our neighborhood, Mill Ridge, and its amenities. We have a heated pool, a club house, tennis courts, and a great little hiking trail. Our quaint mountain chalet, it is the epitome of comfort and tranquility, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of life while allowing you to immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural world.

While you enjoy the relaxing view from the deck, you can also keep an eye on the kids running around in the private, flat front yard. The river is shallow and slow-moving – enjoyable for all ages. There's plenty of outdoor furniture for all your friends and family, plus a charcoal grill for easy outdoor dining. Plan a picnic down at the water's edge, or end the day with marshmallows by the fire pit, with a billion stars above.

Once you tear yourself away from the scenery and come inside, you'll find a luxurious, well-appointed home environment, with large seating areas and comfortable furniture. The main level features an open floorplan, with a large living room, fireplace and TV. You'll love the huge modern kitchen with island, stainless appliances and everything you'll need for meals and entertainment. In addition, the main level includes a dining room, sitting room with fireplace, the master suite with its en suite updated bathroom, as well as another full bath, also equipped with a walk-in shower.

Upstairs find three more bedrooms and a full bath with a tub/shower combination. Two of the bedrooms have queen-sized beds and the third bedroom has a fun bunk bed – twin-sized on the upper level and full-sized below. The bunk room also includes full size futon, a TV and a DVD player – a perfect get-away for the kids.

Retriever Beach places you in a great location to discover all that the High Country has to offer in vacation enjoyment. Bring your fishing pole and good luck, since the New River is in your front yard. If you're looking for more invigorating water adventures, spend the day on a kayak, canoe or inner tube.

Retriever Beach is just a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway and West Jefferson. Boone and Blowing Rock are a short, scenic 25 minute drive away. The ski resort at Sugar Mountain is only 40 minutes away. No matter what season it is, there are always a myriad of activities to enjoy, including hiking, horseback riding, volleyball and badminton during the warmer months, or sledding, snowboarding, skating – and of course skiing – all winter long.

Lower level has 2 Bedrooms, each with Private Baths and lower deck with Ski Rack, looking over the pond. Two hundred yards or less from slopes, so you never need to drive your car to ski.

Great for letting family members come and go from the slopes as they wish. Ski Beech offers night skiing, so adults may let children ski by themselves at night if they wish to go out to dinner and the kids can walk back when ready.

This is an authentic Volkhaus Chalet, one of the first types on Beech Mountain. This house is in a great location only 1.5 miles to Beech Mountain Resort. The house offers optional Beech Mountain Club amenities including golf, tennis, pickle ball, pool, Ski Lodge, and fishing. The chalet features a back deck complete with gas grill and smoker. It boasts a wooded view that changes with the seasons. There are 2 decks; 1 large deck in the back and a second in the front with great bird watching views. There is all kids of wildlife in this area.

The house contains a flat parking area right off of Pine Ridge Rd and is easily accessible even in wintery conditions. However, it can be very optimal and encouraged to have AWD or 4x4 just to navigate around the Beech Mountain area if there is potential for a winter storm.

Welcome to Sunset Vistas!

Sunset Vistas is a one level cabin with 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom that sleeps 2 guests. It offers beautiful long range mountain views, privacy and approximately 10 minutes to downtown West Jefferson with grocery stores, shopping and dining. Sorry, but no pets allowed.

Enjoy your private retreat with a 2 person hot tub, WIFI, outdoor fire pit (wood not provided) views and a fully stocked kitchen with an open floor plan. The kitchen boasts a dishwasher, granite counter tops, microwave, 2-in-1 Keurig/Coffee maker, large fridge and dining for 2.

Enjoy the mountain views from our wall of glass in the living room. There is a gas fireplace (looks like a wood stove) in the living room for those cool fall/winter days. The flat screen HDTV is a SmartTV to watch streaming apps (no live or local channels). We do have a wall mounted mini-split with AC and heat located in the living room.

The bedroom has a king size bed with a door to the outside deck with seating to enjoy Mother Nature. The full bathroom is next to the bedroom (not En Suite) that has a step in shower. Relax after a long day of hiking or shopping in our new 2 person hot tub on the covered deck. There is a stacked washer and dryer for your convenience.

Important Notes: This cabin is access by a steep graveled road and driveway. We do not recommend low profile vehicles. Our cabin is not motorcycle or trailer friendly. Chains and/or 4WD or AWD with good tires are strongly recommended for stays during November through April.

Sunset Vistas is the perfect way to spend quality time in the mountains. For the outdoor lovers, enjoy the nearby state parks, canoeing such as Zaloo's Canoes, or hiking at one of the many trails in Ashe County. Other things to note
**4 wheel drive is a MUST during the winter months** The roads are paved and not dangerous. If it snows, you won't be able to get up or out without four wheel drive.
The stairs in the house are steep (we replaced a spiral staircase). We have a gate at the top to keep them safe for kids.

The location was outstanding, as Hawksnest Snow Tubing was less than a mile away. We had a quick issue getting in and the owners contacted us within minutes to resolve! All check-out instructions were not only easy but convenient based on how they have the property designed, everything was properly labeled and easy to find. Our next time in the Boone / Banner Elk area we will definitely seek out staying at Pie in the Sky again. Oh - and this doesn't even begin to mention the sunset views out all the windows. Our cottage is located in the resort town of Seven Devils, 4,500 feet in elevation with beautiful mountain views. NEW Central AC throughout the home. Pets are NOT permitted at our home.

Hawk’s View Cottage is a cozy 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom that sleeps up to 4 guests with a 5 person hot tub. Each bedroom has a king size bed and one bedroom has an En Suite bathroom and the other bathroom is just outside of the other bedroom on the opposite side of the home. There are Smart TVs in each of the 2 bedrooms (streaming apps only). Stay cool in the warmer months with central AC.

There is plenty of seating in the living room that has a gas fireplace (seasonal-Oct. 1 - April 1) and a Smart TV (streaming apps only), sky lights and 2 walls of windows for natural lighting. The beautiful and well stocked kitchen is ready for you to prepare your favorite meal. The kitchen offers granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, dishwasher, regular coffee maker, Keurig, toaster oven, microwave and etc. with wood floors throughout the home. The dining table can accommodate up to 4 guests. Everything is located on one easy access level including the washer and dryer. Access to our cabin is all paved and the level parking area is paved for a maximum of 3 vehicles.

Enjoy a peaceful mountain getaway with friends and family at this cozy cabin nestled in West Jefferson. All bed/bath linens are provided.

Main Floor: The spacious and beautiful living area is on the main floor. The living room has a stacked stone gas fireplace (fireplace operational from Oct. 1 – April 1) with comfortable leather furniture. There is a large 65” flat screen TV with Roku for streaming your favorite app (YOUR login information is required).

The amazing and modern kitchen has granite counter tops, SS appliances, double wall oven, 5 burner gas cook top, microwave, a regular and K-cup coffee maker, toaster oven, toaster, slow cooker and most everything else needed to prepare your favorite meal.

The dining area has plenty of seating and a wall of windows to enjoy your meal while gazing at the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Behind the dining table are 2 swivel chairs to relax, drink your favorite beverage while your stress fades away!

The master bedroom has a king size bed with Roku TV, En Suite bathroom. Master bathroom has a soaking tub, walk-in stone/tile shower and double vanity sinks. You can access the marvelous, covered deck from the bedroom that has a porch swing, table with chairs and a gas grill. The bedroom has its own thermostat to control the heat/AC.

The full size washer and dryer is located on the main level.

Lower Level: As you travel to the lower level, you’ll be in awe of the open concept and amenities. There is a convenient wet bar with a small copper sink and wine cooler. You’ll also find another family area with a leather couch and a recliner. Enjoy the 65” flat screen Smart TV, electric wall mounted fireplace and have hours of fun playing a friendly competitive game of ping pong.

Step outside from this area and take advantage or our large 6 person hot tub. Relax and let the soothing jets take you to total relaxation. No better way to de-stress after a long day of hiking, shopping or skiing.

The second bedroom is a Jr. Master bedroom with a king size bed, Roku TV, private En Suite bathroom with a step in tiled shower with a rain shower head.

We know you’ll love spending time in our large theater room with a 90” movie screen, over head projector with surround sound. The projector has a Roku device to stream your favorite movie. The theater room also has the 3rd sleeping area with a queen size Murphy bed. The third full bathroom is in the hallway on the lower level that has a tub/shower combo.

Outdoor area: Private hot tub, furnished deck, porch swing, and gas grill. Take advantage of our out door fire pit (wood not provided). Imagine sitting around the crackling fire, drinking your favorite beverage, telling stories, roasting marshmallows, and creating memories that will last a life time.

Access/Parking: Graveled and steep access but has paved driveway (4 vehicles). Front wheel drive vehicles should be OK as long as there is no snow/ice. Our home is not motorcycle accessible.

Winter weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains can occur from November through April. The majority of our homes are accessed by mountain roads, which will be icy in winter weather. For the safety of you and your party, please be prepared to drive in snow and ice. This means 4-wheel drive, good tires and chains. It is your responsibility to be prepared for hazardous road conditions.

Being walking distance to two hiking trails is perfect for outdoor enthusiast and we are just 1.8 miles to skiing or mountain biking at Beech Mountain Resort! Restaurants, mini-golf, the sledding hill, shopping, seasonal outdoor movies and live music are all just a five-six minute drive from the Chalet. A short drive down the mountain to Banner Elk will bring you more restaurants, The Alpine Coaster, tubing, white water rafting trips, kayaking, and more! The Space:
Hello! Welcome to our little Beech Mountain, NC Funkadelic Hideaway Chalet! Let me give you the skinny on this 1973 Bertoli and Brady octagon pedestal kit home. You’ll go back in time to this homage to the 70’s ski chalet lifestyle! With 3 acres to explore and plenty of games, puzzles, and other distractions, any group will think it is “Dy-no-mite” without being over the top. The openness and brightness of the space is Far Out! Floor to ceiling glass all around may scare some, but the privacy of the 3 acres and curtains should calm any prude. Enjoy the entire space with period touches everywhere you look. There is a spiral staircase from the lower entry to the main living area that might not be suitable for children that aren’t watched or that are younger than 2 years old.

There is a queen bed in either of the bedrooms and a full pull out couch to choose from for sleeping. Heating blankets are on both beds, so try no to use the corner wall heaters as much as possible. The two corner wall heaters in the kitchen and living room will make the home warm quickly, but try not to leave them on the entire time you are at the property and turn them off when you leave. HVAC will be installed this summer 2020 to be more environmentally and pocketbook friendly.

Much of the Mid-Century Modern furniture, art, knickknacks, games, etc. have been modernized to better suit todays discerning appetites with wifi, keyless wifi door lock, usb outlets, smart switches, an Alexa Echo, LED lighting, and smart TV in the living room. Some however, could not be modernized. With the original kitchen, there are amazing and irreplaceable Avocado appliances. While the range and hood are working, the dishwasher is only for show and has been rendered inoperable. There is a small charcoal grill on the lower deck that can be used if you are knowledgeable in its operation. The same goes for the Buck Stove in the living room and fire pit to the left of the home. Please be careful with their use and please bring your own wood or replace the wood that you use from our pile under the home. Fire should never be left unattended or played with by children.

Beech Mountain never gets warmer than 78 degrees Fahrenheit, so make sure you bring warm clothing no matter when you visit. The 3 acres is a fun place for kids to explore and there are Gnome homes built by our children to be discovered. The bottom of the valley below the property is a natural spring that can get mucky, but flows after a good rain.

Whatever the weather, there is fun to be had at the property or in the surrounding areas. With skiing, tubing, ice skating, snowboarding, sledding, snowball fighting and even hiking in the snow, Winter is a great time to visit. If you come for the spring, summer, or fall; mountain biking (using the ski lifts to the top of the mountain), a brand new Alpine Roller coaster, hiking trails (Emerald Outback), swimming lakes, fishing, gem mining, waterfalls, tons of golfing, or just plain relaxing while the kids explore.

Lean in to the joy and solitude located on city maintained gravel roads that are rarely impassable after even larger snow falls. Restaurants, grocery stores, shops, and everything you could want are within 10 minutes of the home, but bring some groceries and the essentials. We have a community sharing stance on our personal ski chalet, so feel free to leave unopened foods and condiments to be used by the following guests. In turn, feel free to enjoy (or not enjoy) the condiments and other foods left in the home. Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Gel, and Cocoa Butter lotion are complimentary and available in the bathrooms. If you need anything, please let us know and we can direct you to where to find it!

Have a unique stay in our tree house chalet on a serene wooded lot. Privacy & Location are ideal to all Beech Mountain has to offer (just over a mile from Beech Mountain Ski Resort). Paved driveway with parking for up to 8 vehicles (4-5 in upper driveway & 3 in lower driveway). LEVEL entry home with 6 beds (1 king, 3 queens, and a twin bunk bed) making Beech Haus the perfect family or friend getaway. Open floor plan & vaulted ceilings with wood beams. The floor to ceiling stone fireplace is the center point of the chalet & has a gas log fireplace w/ blower for additional heat on cool nights. Please note, stairwells in our chalet are slightly smaller than currently built homes, so please make note! They are wide enough to easily navigate and move luggage up and down safely.

Fully-equipped kitchen with all you need to prepare any size meal. We’ve tried to think through everything a guest could need or want from; free specialty coffee, snacks, basic spices, blender, Dutch oven, crock pot,and more.

The dining room is equipped with 8 chairs and a bench that can be pulled up for additional seating with large groups.

Main Floor:
In addition to the kitchen, dining & living room, there are 2 bedrooms (all with smart TV’s), 3 full bathrooms & washer / dryer (detergents and softener sheets provided).

Upstairs is a loft bedroom with vaulted ceilings & wood beams. Equipped with a king size bed, extra sitting area, premium linens & mattress, with extra pillows and blankets for guests to access.

The lower level has a large bedroom with full bathroom and a separate entry to the outside. There is a queen size bed, shuffle board, smart Tv, and twin bunk bed.

Exterior:
Step outside for more adventure. Groups can enjoy the private hot tub surrounded by beautiful string lights, an outdoor fire-pit with comfortable Adirondack chairs, & several furnished areas for enjoying the crisp mountain air.

A Weber propane grill is located on deck.

Fun Fact:
The popular “upper pond creek trail” is two houses down. It’s an easy trail perfect for for all age groups. The trail borders the creek all the way down to lake coffee and “lower pond creek trail”

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire home and large, private, wooded lot with plenty of private parking. Please note, our driveway is steep and during winter months requires all wheel drive. There are two spots down by the road as well.

Other things to note
4-wheel drive or AWD is highly recommended in winter months. The driveway has an incline but flat at the top. 7-8 cars can park comfortably between the upper and lower driveway.

Pets allowed with a $125 pet fee. Pet fee must be paid prior to check-in. If you decide to bring your fur baby after the reservation has been made, please reach out to us and we can request the fee through the app.

Our home is updated and yet cozy, with deer that frequently come right up to our front steps. We have a beautiful view with a wall of windows. Both on the front and back porches are plenty of seating to see the view. We are conveniently located and have good parking. Close to all the local restaurants, bars, hiking trails and mountain biking trails.

We are located on Sugar Mountain and only .6 miles to the resort and 3 miles from downtown Banner Elk. That means you can be skiing, tubing, ice skating, playing tennis, or golf within minutes. We offer 3 spacious bedrooms(1 via Loft) and 2 decks for you to enjoy the sights and sounds of the stream below. With access to 25 restaurants within 5 miles you are sure to maximize your time exploring the beautiful high country at our home, on our (2) decks, or soaking in the hot tub.

The space
This property offers a spacious living room with a wood burning fireplace and flat screen TV as well as nice cozy furnishings. The dining area offers enough room for 6 at the table. The kitchen offers an oven, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher. If you’d like to enjoy your meal or drink outside, there is a deck right off the dining room that provides a table and chairs for 4. We furnish plates(kids and adults), glassware, pots/pans, coffee maker(Keurig and Drip) and utensils to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

The master bedroom is located on the main level and includes a king log bed, a smart TV, and a full bath with a tub. There is also a private deck located off the bedroom that allows you to open the doors and listen to the flowing stream while you sleep. There is a dedicated office/reading room off the master as well that provides a pocket door to be closed for privacy and fiber internet. Enjoy the wrap around windows while you read or get some work done.

Bedrooms 2 is located on the main floor and offers a Queen log bed and a smart TV. There is also direct access to a full bathroom with a stand up shower.

Bedroom 3 is located up a spiral staircase in the loft. There is an additional seating area in the loft as well as a smart TV.
You can access the lower level via a spiral staircase that takes you to the Foosball table, washer/dryer, and direct access to the Hot Tub.

Just because you are in the mountains doesn’t mean you have to be far away from everything. Our home offers 25 restaurants within 5 miles and 2 grocery stores within 3 miles. If you are looking for Wineries or Breweries they are available minutes away. When it's time to head to town, you will be 3 miles to Downtown Banner Elk, 9 miles to Beech Mountain, and 15 miles to downtown Boone and Blowing Rock!

Activities are endless for children and adults alike. From this house you can be skiing, ice skating, tubing, playing tennis, or golf within minutes. Grandfather Mountain State Park, multiple golf courses, Wildcat Lake, and other amazing streams are minutes away for you to explore.

You are just a short 5 minute drive to shopping, eating, ski slopes, walking trails, coffee shops and more!

In the Summer, enjoy the cooler temperatures of being in the highest town on the east coast! You can open the windows and enjoy the fresh air. While the house does not have air conditioning, we do have fans which do a good job circulating the air and keeping it cool.

In the Winter, cozy up on the sofa and enjoy a warm drink. The house has in-wall heating units which keep it quite warm. We also have an outdoor fire pit that is a great place to relax.

Buckeye Recreation Center, only a mile down the road, has hiking trails to the waterfalls, trout fishing, paddle boats, kayaks, tennis courts, a large ropes and timbers playground, and more! Come enjoy a weekend or extended stay, and make memories that will last a lifetime!

Parking during ski season can be challenging. Snow blowing will accumulate quickly so always park as far from Slopeside as possible. Bring a windshield scraper! Plowing is not always available so 4WD, Chains, and/or great tires are a must! You must only use the two parking spaces in front of the house. Room for 2 Cars Only.

The first floor allows a straight through walk in for those who can't use steps. There is a master suite on the first floor. Second master with secluded office area on second floor.
There are two separate entrances in case hours of activities differ for your party and you don't wish to be disturbed by a main entrance. Easy on and off gas fireplace provides a warm and cozy time in the main living room overlooking breathtaking views of the Appalachian skyline. Luxury sectional sofa has plenty of room for a large family. Watch the sun go down from upper or lower decks. Morning coffee has a new meaning made from the gourmet coffee bar if you get up soon enough for the amazing sunrises. The beds have genuine comfort with premium bedding. Huge open area on bottom floor is inviting for games, TV, snack times and lounging. Double bunks and well-equipped beautiful full baths on all levels.

Neighborhood overview

For the last century Nobleman and Countrymen alike have been taking their vacation times in the beautiful Western North Carolina region. Beech Mountain is the highest altitude for skiing on the East Coast. Now your don't need to be of any Nobility to vacation these picturesque mountains these days, but the treatment and experience remains the same. You'll understand why we call our cabin "Angels Overlook Chalet" It's breathtaking.

Transit

We are just a half a mile away from Buckeye Creek Recreational Center where many activities are free of charge. There is a beautiful hiking area there that the town maintains, and the highlight is the waterfall after you have hiked almost 1/2 mile. Need a flat pavement for your daily walking? Buckeye Creek has that and it's a perfect place for indoor activities like ping on and basket ball. Take a look on their website for special events.
If you are looking for skiing, then this IS YOUR SKI cabin. We have a ski room/mud room to leave all your equipment and even outside hangers for skis under the house. We have thought of everything. You don't even need to use the main entrance to drop off your ski equipment. Drop it all in one spot and it's quickly picked up for the next day easily.

Other things to note

This a large brand new home that will make you feel like as you are taking a luxurious mountain Vacation, but its not meant as a place where a large school or party groups should stay. We invite large family groups, women or men weekends, all over 25 and not in school. No sororities or fraternity reunions. Children welcome with parents. Well behaved dogs are welcomed. The Elk Chalet is a mountain modern home at the top of Sleepy Hollow. Look over the Blue Ridge Mountains & Pisgah National Park at an elevation of 3,300 ft while enjoying your complimentary snacks at our s'mores bar or relaxing in our 5-person hot tub! Located only 12 minutes from Boone or Sugar Mountain with a 33 minute drive to Beech Mountain! Our guests are welcome to the Mill Ridge community tennis courts, seasonal swimming pool, private clubhouse, playground, and hiking trails!

The space
Our upstairs has an open-concept design living room, dining table, and kitchen that all flows to our upper deck complete with propane fire pit and comfortable outdoor furniture. The living room has a sleeper sectional that can comfortably sleep 2-3 people with a propane fireplace to keep you warm! There are 2 bedrooms upstairs including the Kid's Room and King Suite complete with an in-suite bathroom and hall bathroom for the kids and other guests. Upon going downstairs, you will find our kitchenette with bar fridge / wine cooler. Feel free to mix your favorite drinks before heading out to our putting green! Our lower deck has a full putting green with putters and LED balls provided. In the downstairs living room, you will find a 75" 4K Roku TV complete with a Samsung Surround Sound system, indoor electric fireplace, and another sleeper sectional that can comfortably sleep 2-3 people. Make sure to check out our Dart Board as you go down the hallway to our lower bedroom and bath! After your round of mini-golf, make yourself a nice fire in the outdoor fire pit with the wood provided on the lower deck. Other things to note
The coasters, living room coffee table, putting green and dart board wall are all very special features of this house. The coasters were made from a cedar tree that fell in our parent's front yard near Charlotte. This project took an entire summer of transporting, sanding, cutting, and polishing in our free time when we were students at App State. The living room table, putting green, and dart board all use pieces of wood kept safe under the house since it was built.
