Make sure you get there before dark because it would be impossible to find without light." - "The owner was very nice and allowed us to take a look around the property. They provided us shampoo and body wash in the bathroom, and gave us packets of drinks, water, fresh eggs and pans in the kitchen, which is very thoughtful . If you leave early in the morning, be careful to not hit rabbits. And do not follow GPS’ , not Google, not Apple. Just ask the owner for the directions. You will die if you follow GPS’."

- "It was cute, had a good location in Alpine, was a good distance from the places we wanted to see. Around 30 minutes to an hour from where we wanted to go. The little house was just the right size and was very accommodating. Perfect for a couple! It may be a little more awkward with friends, depending on your comfort level with people. But the view from the bed was amazing and we enjoyed every second of our trip! " - "Kimberly was such a kind and helpful host — she made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The houseboat was peaceful and cozy, and the views were absolutely stunning. At night, the stars lit up the sky like nothing I’ve ever seen. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience in Alpine. We can’t wait to come back!"

Guest Reviews:

- "The property is not how statted online. The shower head is broke and the host is very rude and approaches your children instead of coming up to the adult with any issues she wants to address as well as takes pictures with them in it without parental consent. There was a huge aunt bed on the tent setup area and there are no signs saying that you cant use the tables or benches on the property and if you utilize them she calls you entitled. You also cant set your stuff in certain spots or she will try to charge you a extra bed fee. Host is a very rude person and calls you all kinds of names by messaging you through the Vrbo messanger. This camping experience was a horrible experience and I am also pretty sure she watches you from her camper which she has set up right by the camping. We will never camp at her property ever again."

--> -->-->PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING --< --< --<

The container is entirely off-grid, with no electricity or running water, and is self-cleaning. Located in the desert, the property may have some dust, as it’s impossible to keep it completely dust-free in this environment. It’s like camping, but with the added luxury of a memory foam mattress! Solar-powered lights illuminate the exterior at dusk, and battery-powered lights are available inside. For added convenience, we recommend bringing a flashlight or camping lantern to navigate the area at night. Additionally, be sure to bring plenty of water—we suggest at least 5 gallons for drinking and cleaning purposes.

The Mr. Buddy portable heater is available for use. Please note that propane is not provided—it requires a 1 lb propane cylinder.

**Access Requirements**
A high-clearance vehicle is REQUIRED to reach the container. The unpaved dirt roads can become impassable after rain and may take a day or more to dry out. Please plan accordingly.

**Eco-Friendly Stay**
In support of our eco-friendly initiatives, we ask guests to bring their own queen-size bed sheets and pillows. A comfortable queen-size memory foam mattress is provided for your stay.

**Guest Responsibility**
Rather than charging a cleaning fee, we kindly ask that you remove all trash and leave the container in as good or better condition than you found it. This helps us keep the space welcoming for future guests.

Please only book if you are willing and able to follow these guidelines. We look forward to hosting you and hope you enjoy the unique charm of our off-grid retreat!

--->Guest access--<
We strongly recommend arriving during the daytime. The dirt roads leading to the container are unmarked and require a high-clearance vehicle.

Please note that cell service in the Big Bend area and on the property is spotty. While it’s a fantastic place to disconnect, it’s not ideal for getting stuck in the mud. Rain can cause significant delays in accessing the container, as even a small amount of rain can make the dirt roads impassable. This is particularly important during the monsoon season (summer), but we advise keeping an eye on the weather year-round.

We do not offer refunds due to weather-related issues. Be sure to check the forecast before your arrival.

*20 miles to the closest grocery store.
*35 miles to the closest gas station.

Other things to note
Here are a few more things to know when you arrive to Tin Valley Retro Rentals.

*Tip to starting a good fire: Start small and ONLY add once the fire grows. Too much too soon will only give you smoke! And do NOT stack wood on top of one another! It will never start. The key to a good fire is to stack the wood like a tipi, with enough fire starter in the middle to get a small fire going. The flame from the fire starter will ignite the wood circled around it. Once that wood is burning you can then keep adding additional wood for a great, long lasting fire. (Dead cactus and/or small twigs are great fire starters, if you need assistance.)

When you leave your campsite/RV please check for kitties inside, as they tend to sneak in and hide...And PLEASE check the top of your vehicles before you drive off. I seem to have a kitty that enjoys hanging out on car roofs and has “roof surfed” out of here twice already! Lol! His name was just “Stubb’s,” but he is now known as “Stubb’s the Roof-Top Kitty Surfer.”
Thanks!

During your stay I would like to invite you to help build something very special here at Tin Valley Retro Rentals. I have added paint & brushes to your campsite. You can pick your own special rock from anywhere on the property, including the mountain, and then paint something special on it. Be sure to include your name and date and then pick your spot of where you want to leave it.
(To keep the brushes lasting please wash the paint out after using...thank you!)

And final thing; If you have extra pennies or other coins, I would love for you to throw them around your campground. Copper is good energy for the property...AND is just another quirky fun thing to do. :)

Look forward to your visit!

Chico 3 -Terlingua camping - Showers, WiFi, Coffee
RV Rental
Terlingua

Chico 3 is the latest addition to the environmentally conscious, 5-acre Chico complex and stands ready to shelter travelers with an appreciation for the clever use of repurposed materials. This gem is located directly off paved county road and easily accessible with any vehicle. Just 20 minutes from Big Bend National Park. Enjoy 360-degree mountain views, incredible sunrise/sunsets, and the jaw-dropping starry nights of this Dark Sky designated area.

The space
Chico 3 was built to accommodate those of us that prefer to focus on outdoor living while visiting the Big Bend area. This small-but-solid space with super comfy single bed is perfect for a solo traveler, or two people that really like each other. It features a picnic table, charcoal grill, fire pit and a private compost toilet.

In addition to the above amenities, guests will have full access to hot showers, Wi-Fi, microwave, coffee, shared fire pit with seating, picnic tables and outlets for charging digital devices -- just a few steps away at Chico Central. Chico Central is shared with two other cabins (Chico 1 and Chico 2) that are optimally spaced to provide maximum privacy, with more than an acre of area dedicated to each cabin.

This is not a "self-cleaning" accommodation like others in the area. We provide trash receptacles in each cabin, vigorously clean between guests, and properly compost all human waste until it can be returned to the earth as fertilizer.

Our goal is simple and affordable low-impact lodging for those that enjoy camping. Guests should plan on bringing bed linens or sleeping bag, pillows, towels, lights, coolers, drinking water and any other items they would normally bring on a camping trip.

Other things to note
FAQ:

How do I use the compost toilet?
- Use the compost toilet exactly like you would use your toilet at home, but instead of flushing you will add a handful or two of pine shavings that we provide.

Do I need to separate urine when using the compost toilet?
- No. The composting system we use does NOT require urine separation. The nutrients in urine are a valued part of the fertilizer that our compost eventually becomes.

Do I need to empty my compost toilet?
-No. We will empty and clean your toilet after you check out. If you have an extended stay, let us know when the toilet is getting full so we can exchange it and provide additional pine shavings.

Can I plug my blender in at Chico Central and treat everybody to margaritas?
- Absolutely

Thank you for helping us keep Tin Valley a place of peace and positivity.

Guest access
Property is:

*5 miles to the back entrance of Big Bend National Park, but high clearance and/or 4-wheel drive is needed for this route.
*4 miles to Terlingua Ranch Lodge, (available to you) which has a swimming pool, full service restaurant, shower house, and laundry facility.
*20 miles to the closest grocery store.
*35 miles to the closest gas station.

Other things to note
This is a CLOTHING OPTIONAL campsite. It is far enough away from other campsites that you will not have to worry about others seeing you.
