The space
The casita was built in 1989 by Sul Ross IT students and has since been updated. It features a private, covered cement patio, perfect for enjoying cocktails or coffee. Light up the mini chiminea for some ambiance! The inside is open concept with a corrugated metal ceiling, and rustic wood walls painted white with cedar trim. The fenced yard is secure and private for your furry friend. The Casita is attached to a garage that houses our vehicles and tools. A train runs through town and is close by. Earplugs are provided to keep some of the neighborhood sounds out. Parking is available in the visitor's parking spot on the right side of the long driveway.

Other things to note
The smart TV has Roku with complimentary Netflix and Hulu, but you can log into other content if you have a subscription. The casita is located behind our home and is attached to our garage where we park our vehicles and keep our tools. There is a slim possibility we will be opening the garage door around 7:50 am Monday - Friday mornings to go to work but we often walk or park in the front of our house when we have guests. We also may walk into the garage during your stay for tools.

Tiny Cottage - Located in the heart of downtown Alpine, Texas, this separate, diminutive cottage (1 room and bath) was a teeny office (168sf) back in the day! The bed is only a 3/4 bed ( wider than a twin, but less wide than a double)!

The TINY cottage is situated downtown, behind the locally owned salon and barber shop, Americana. Enjoy the Backyard, adjacent to the Dragonfly Cottage!

The space
Hidden right in the middle of downtown, these guest cottages were formerly the secret hideaways of various owners, luminaries, celebrities, and occasional scalawags.

This tiny guest cottage is a great budget friendly alternative! The cottage sleeps two very friendly folks, or a single. This unit was actually the old doc's private, stand alone office behind his home and next to his hospital (the home is now Americana Salon, and the hospital is an office building)...best trip to the doctor's office you will ever have, possibly! Note that the cottage IS TINY, and has a 3/4 size bed! The bath has a generous size shower!

DIRECTIONS - The Dragonfly Cottage is located behind the Americana Hotel. It is a tiny freestanding building with the numbers 104 in gold on the front.

The train rolls through town a few times a day. It can be a bit noisy, but ear plugs are provided with each stay for those who are light sleepers!

This suite is a beautiful stand-alone 600 sq ft. bedroom separated from the rest of the house by the main foyer. With a keyed interior entrance off the main foyer of the house, this private room includes king size bed, a wood burning fireplace, spacious bathroom with large tiled bathtub, shower, two sink/vanity areas, and a private patio outside a back door exterior entrance.

The Adobe is located between Alpine and Big Bend National Park. Enjoy picturesque views of the Chisos Mountains from the garden area of this adobe built in the early years of Terlingua Ranch. The ‘bunkhouse’ was originally built to house the road crew in the 1970’s, while the supervisor lived in the adjacent main house. The original Mexican floor tiles remain, giving it a historic rustic feel. It sits on 40 acres nestled at the base of Whitehouse Mountain. Sunrises and sunsets are glorious.

The space
The bunkhouse consists of a full kitchen, open dining/living room, full bathroom and large bedroom. There are two reclining couches in the living room (comfortable for sleeping!) and a queen bed in the bedroom. Relax in the shade of the cactus garden during the day, or marvel at the night sky . We are typically available in the main house if you need anything; otherwise we will leave you to relax and enjoy! The property is located 2 miles from Terlingua Ranch Lodge, where you will find internet and a laundromat available, as well as good food and entertainment at the Bad Rabbit Café. Both Big Bend National and State Parks are well within an hour drive, as well as the historic towns of Terlingua, Lajitas, and Ghost Town.

Cell phone coverage is limited in the area. We do have a landline phone in the main house if needed. Internet access is limited in the bunkhouse. Internet is available at the Bad Rabbit Cafe, and you are also welcome to sit on the main house patio where reception is typically better.

Stargaze at night, bird watch by day, from your own balcony. Or take a short jaunt to Big Bend National Park, Fort Davis, Marfa, Marathon, or down to Ojinaga Mexico for shopping, as Alpine happens the be the hub for the Big Bend area. We're a few blocks from the University, making the Lofts the ideal place to stay for short-term visiting lecturers and academics. The neighborhood is quiet, and we take up half the city block.

Owners live on site, in the main house. We can sleep a total of seven in Loft 1. There is another loft next to it that can sleep 10 people.

Lofts have access to a shared outdoor kitchen, making this a fantastic venue for weddings and special events, with tons of off-street parking! Guests provided with linens, shampoo/ conditioner, lotion, towels and washcloths, grilling utensils.

You will be responsible for any damage to the Casita property caused by you or your party during your stay. This includes trashing the property and not following check out rules will be an additional $150 extra cleaning fee.

We have two large dog kennel on site. Let us know if you would like it set up upon your arrival. An additional $30 per day will be assessed for accommodations with pets. MAX two dogs no cats. . The pets MUST be placed in a kennel inside the Casita when you leave the property. The pets cannot be left in the yard unattended at anytime during your stay. We have had two incidents where pets escaped. Kenneling is an absolute requirement when you are not present. Pets MUST remain off the furniture and beds. Any holes from digging, damage to the fence, excessive dog hair will result in an additional $150 fee. Damages caused by pet will be an additional fee depending on damages.

This is a 107 acre property that allows for lots of wildlife viewing, stargazing and just enjoying quiet and relaxing evenings. This is one of two rentals on the 107 acres! This property is a scenic 50 minute drive to the BBNP entrance. At 45 minutes along the way to BBNP you will pass gas, grocery and adult beverage stores. Once you return to the property for the evening, you will find a cooling/hot tub, wildlife along with peaceful relaxing stars and scenery to enjoy. Car accessible.

This is a 2018 large and luxurious travel trailer with 3 slideouts. Great air-conditioning. All modern conveniences plus an ice-maker. There is also a cooling pool/hot tub at your disposal. Lots of hiking, biking, 4-wheeling or stargazing to enjoy. Also you will find an abundance of wildlife to watch, photograph and enjoy. Fiber optic 5G Wi-Fi is provided, WiFi calling works great. We offer family desert excursions and some craft classes for younger children. Please inquire about these thru email.

There is a community pool, laundry and restaurant within half a mile. Outdoor cooking is also made available with both a gas grill, wood burning bar b q pit w/mesquite wood provided and we have an outdoor gas griddle for cooking pancakes, flat-iron steaks or your own hibachi cooking. There is a chiminea located close to the porch for late evening fires with pinion pine wood provided.

The Big Bend National Park is nearby, along with many other attractions such as the Terlingua Ghostown, LaKiva Bar & Grill, Starlight Theatre and river rafting tours. We do have a UTV to assist with on ranch tours covering thousands of acres (please inquire in advance).

The pros: If you have a large group, and are booking other lofts on this property, this is a great option if you need to add one more bedroom or bathroom. In-wall heater, portable AC unit, queen sized bed. There is a sauna attached to the room that can be used for extra storage/ reading nook/ seating.

This is the only first-floor listing we offer.

The cons: This listing (Loft 5) is usually an add on to Lofts 1 & 2. It has a sliding glass door. The bathroom is a few feet away from the door to loft 5; is nothing fancy but is fully functional. This is a basic, no-frills room, and is priced accordingly.

If you choose to book this listing, and not the others, you'll still get all the benefits of booking the larger listings, access to the courtyard, shared kitchen and ample parking.
