Located 1.2 miles from the rural and tiny town of historic Hartsburg, your tiny cedar house has its own private driveway and sits at the base of our hilly and majestic family farm under a giant Sycamore tree.

Park your car and take the wooden path to your front door, located just off your front porch. (Or if you're coming by Bike on the Katy trail, ride the flat 1.6 miles from the Hartsburg access to our farm and park your bike!)

Located at the heart of our farm, the Cedar Bungalow is easily accessible from the county gravel road and visible from the Farmhouse (also for rent) and the Barn where our farm manager lives with her adorable dog, Pocket.

Inside you’ll find a cozy queen bed with soft linens and extra pillows along with cool, retro bedside lamps. Find some fun books to read, too, and some games for late night laughter.

OUTDOOR KITCHEN
A cozy kitchenette inside the one room cabin is complete with mini fridge for food storage, hot water kettle, and French press for making coffee or loose leaf tea. We provide the coffee! Filtered water available for drinking.

COOKING
For cooking, we have an outdoor gas grill. We supply utensils for grilling as well as mugs, plates, and silverware so that you’re a definite step up from camping while enjoying your indoor/outdoor kitchen experience. The outdoor gas grill is your stove. We have pots and pans for cooking.

The one room has seating10x20 cabin has seating and dining for two.

BATHROOM
There is a very clean porto potty nearby for bathroom. There is also an outdoor sink hand washing, doing dishes and for cooking water. It is also a convenient place to gather water for the Brita Filter located in the cabin for great cold drinking water.

OUTDOOR SHOWER WITH ON DEMAND HOT WATER
We just built an outdoor private shower from cedar grown, harvested, and milled on our farm. The shower is equipped with an on demand, endless hot water with great views of the surrounding farm land. You can also swim in the pond or nearby beautiful Hart Creek to cool down or rinse off. We provide towels. (PLEASE ALSO NOTE: The shower is not available during the winter due to freezing temperatures that make the shower inoperable.)

PETS
Dog friendly - ONE DOG 40 pounds or less - please inquire for pet policy. Also note that there is a dog who lives on the farm and will likely to want to come say hi. PLEASE NOTE: there are 2 other rental properties on the 170 acre farm that are also pet friendly. If your dog is not comfortable around other dogs, please plan to keep your dog on a leash as you explore the farm.

PET FEE: Well-behaved pets are welcome with a $25 fee (per pet) per stay. Please inquire about our pet policy. One pet max 40 pounds please.

POND
We have a small pond on the farm. As it is fed by both rain and a little spring, the water level depends on how much rain we've gotten - if we've gotten a lot of rain and there isn't a lot of duckweed growing, you can enjoy a good swim! You can also swim in the nearby beautiful Hart Creek (it also runs on our property) to cool down or rinse off. We provide towels.

FISHING
We also invite you to fish in our pond. You are welcome to keep and eat any fish that you like, with the exception of all bass under 12 inches. Please be sure to release these until they get to breeding age in order to help us ensure the healthiness of our pond. Anything larger than 13 inches is all yours!

CANCELLATIONS
The cancellation policy applies to all bookings. An additional $150 cancellation fee will be charged to cover credit card processing and admin fees on all cancellations.

RENTER'S AGREEMENT
A signed renter's agreement is required for all reservations, as well as a picture of a government-issued photo ID and a picture of your credit card used to book showing only the last 4 digits and your name. This is to prevent credit card fraud and is meant to protect you as the renter and us as hosts.

DEPOSIT
We require a $300 deposit for each reservation, which will be processed 3 days before your arrival. As long as there is no unexpected damage to the home, deposits are automatically refunded in full in 7 days.

UNAUTHORIZED LATE CHECKOUTS: Unauthorized late checkouts are not allowed and will be billed at $25/hr in hourly increments. Please be respectful of our housekeeper's time and be sure to checkout on-time.

Our house is a spacious cottage with open space in the living room and cozy settings in the
3 bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a queen bed, the second bedroom a twin bed, and the third bedroom has 2 twin beds. In the living room area is a hide a bed couch that sleeps two people as well ( an extra mattress is available.)The main bathroom has a washer and dryer. The kitchen has a stove and oven, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, fridge and freezer, sink, flatware and dinnerware, and basic kitchen utensils (pots and pans). The lake is perfect for fishing, we have beautiful garden walkways and sitting areas. There is a fireplace outside as well as an observation deck from which you can see the whole property. It’s the perfect spot for stargazing. We have a few goats and the neighbors have very friendly dogs.

The whole house is a duplex, there is no shared space.
It’s two houses under one roof.

We could have just booked the place and the property would have been our trip. It is set up for weddings, but even though we weren't there for that we still enjoyed it. We took the little trails through the woods and voyaged on the little raft in the lake. Made friends with the animals, and walked through the gardens. There are so many great photo spots as well. The house itself is larger than I thought, there was plenty of room for us to hangout and sleep, and we baked some cookies in the kitchen. I would definitely stay here again!"

While the county is off leash - the Katy Trail requires leashes as it is a state park, and there are runners, biker riders, and other dogs will likely be on the trail as well.

Nestled on a hillside above our Trailside Cottage, this cottage offers spectacular views of the river, and is more private being nestled at the top of the hill along a treeline. The oversized screened in porch provides views of the bluffs and the river. The kingsized bed is loaded with pillows and Tommy Bahama bedding for an elegant and restful night's sleep. The oversized chairs and the adjustable smart tv are perfect for settling in for a good movie.

The cottage's proximity to the river, and the historic Katie trail are perfect for those who want to get away from it all and enjoy bicycling or hiking or fishing along the Missouri River. Just a 15 minute walk from Cooper's Landing, where there is a campground, food trucks and live music during the spring, summer and fall seasons, you can enjoy a night out with beautiful sunset views of the river.

Our favorite time of year at the river is winter. There are fewer people, making winter hikes along the trail filled with wildlife and quiet solitude. Just a few minutes south along the trail from our cottage is an historic marker of a campsite for Lewis and Clark as they went up the Missouri in the 1800's.

While the county is off leash - the Katy Trail requires leashes as it is a state park, and there are runners, biker riders, and other dogs will likely be on the trail as well.

Guests have keyless access to the entire Farmhouse. There are an additional two rental cabins situated on 170 acre property, so Farmhouse guests may encounter cabin guests during hikes on the property. During the winter months when the leaves have dropped, one of the other cabins is visible from the back deck.

SWIMMING POND
We have a small swimming pond nearby with a little beach. As it is fed by both rain and a little spring, the water level depends on how much rain we've gotten. You can also swim in the nearby beautiful Hart Creek to cool down or rinse off. We provide towels.

The Farmhouse is about a mile from Hartsburg where guests can enjoy The Hitching Post, a cherished local bar, or The Burg, a restaurant and live music venue open Thursday through Saturday, and about 5 miles from Ashland, home of the Dandy Lion Internet cafe, restaurant and coffee shop, Moser’s Grocery, and several great restaurants.

Guests will need to use their own vehicles or bicycles to get to town and back.

No smoking, aboslutely no parties.

UNAUTHORIZED LATE CHECKOUTS: Unauthorized late checkouts are not allowed and will be billed at $25/hr in hourly increments. Please be respectful of our housekeer's time and be sure to checkout on-time.

CANCELLATIONS
The cancellation policy applies to all bookings. An additional $150 cancellation fee will be charged to cover credit card processing and admin fees on all cancellations.

RENTER'S AGREEMENT
A signed renter's agreement is required for all reservations, as well as a picture of a government-issued photo ID and a picture of your credit card used to book showing only the last 4 digits and your name. This is to prevent credit card fraud and is meant to protect you as the renter and us as hosts.

DEPOSIT
We require a $300 deposit for each reservation, which will be processed 3 days before your arrival. As long as there is no unexpected damage to the home, deposits are automatically refunded in full in 7 days.

It was updated with modern amenities while still maintaining vintage charm with a beautiful antique radio accenting the living room and the wood burning stove in the kitchen. It was the perfect amount of space for a couple. The whole cottage had very warm and welcoming vibes. The river was within walking distance and we actually enjoyed being so close to the train tracks. It was an excellent choice for a weekend away from the demands of life and being in the city. We will absolutely rent again and will be renting the other property this owner has in the same area for our family. Thank you!"

The Shouse is a rustic living quarters built directly under the same roof as our horse stable. Bring your horses along and they can stay here too. The home has recently been fully renovated from an Amish tack shop. It is located in the heart of an Amish community. Spend your evenings relaxing on the front porch and watch the horse and buggies go by. On Friday evenings have the option of going on a horse and buggy ride for a little extra cost.
The space
This unique space has a very calm and relaxing atmosphere, from the rustic style home to the laid back country living experience you will have. Farm fresh eggs always available for breakfast and if you are an early riser come out and help milk the cow right outside your back door.
Guest access
The home has full amenities included in it. No need to feel like you are "roughing it" even though you will feel like you are back in time. Laundry and full kitchen are in your own private space. The barn is also open for your horses you are traveling with! The property has a nice fishing pond on it aswell so don't forget to bring your poles.
Other things to note
If you hear someone outside of The Shouse it is probably just one of the Amish neighbors coming to use the community phone set up in the barn. They won't disturb you but feel free to poke your head out and say hello.

Our charming Katy Caboose is located right on the Katy Trail in Hartsburg, MO, offering a truly unique stay. The caboose features a spacious outdoor area with a large deck, table seating, a hammock, and Adirondack chairs for relaxation. Inside, you'll find a cozy kitchenette, a full bed, and a twin trundle bed, comfortably sleeping four. The private bathroom is located in the cottage next to the caboose, reserved exclusively for guests of the caboose. Bath features full sink, toilet, and walk-in shower. Towels, linens, and toiletries including shampoo, soap, toilet paper are included! The caboose features a mini-fridge, microwave, bar stools & dining table, small sofa, and rocking chair. The heat is provided by space heaters and a/c is a window unit. Lots of light from skylights and windows all through the train car.

THE CABIN
The cabin is rustic, handbuilt, and beautiful. It is not fancy or modern. It has been designed for nature lovers who want the opportunity to go out into nature to unplug, disconnect, and reconnect with themsleves and loved ones. We have added a few amenities to make your stay more comfortable, but please understand that they are limited.
-Solar powered lights (can be dependent upon how much sun we have had, but usually available)
-Phone and computer charging stations (limited battery draw; do not attempt to plug in a hair dryer or fan)
-A propane powered heating system for the winter
-A generator-run AC system for hot summer days (not meant to be run 24/7)
-Propane-run outdoor gas range for cooking meals and making coffee
-Pots, pans, silverware, cups and plates for making meals
-Queen size bed and sleeper sofa for up to 4 people (prepped by our housekeeper with clean linens for each guest)

OUTDOOR KITCHEN
The outdoor kitchen (on the screened-in porch) is rustic, hand-designed, and includes a variety of limited amenities to enhance your glamping experience.

-sink for doing dishes (haul your own water in cold months; once the risk of frost has passed, we provide limited water for your use)

FRONT PATIO
The front patio overlooks the incredible 170 acre farm and Missouri river bottom and affords great views of sunsets, sunrises, stars, and in the right season, lightning bugs!!

BATHROOM
There is a very clean porta potty nearby for the bathroom.
Note: It's a porto potty. It is not glamorous, and is part of your glamping experience.

OUTDOOR COLD SHOWER
We have an outdoor shower for your convenience. This amenity is ONLY available after the risk of frost has passed. It is a summer-time convenience ONLY. Do not book our home if you want to take a cold shower any other time. There is no hot water. Water is also limited, but if you ever notice it running low, please contact us right away and we will try to help.

WILDLIFE
Warmer months you'll surely encounter some of the resident tree frogs, birds, peregrine falcon, bald eagles, worms, Gary the groundhog, possums, snakes, armadillos, insects, dragon flies, bumblebees, lightning bugs, deer, wild flowers, trees, grass, turtles, fish and celebrity Justin Beaver. You most likely will also encounter ticks. Please come prepared.

PEST CONTROL
While we keep the cabin very clean between stays, it is important to understand that it is still OUTDOORS. Mice ocassionally make their way into the outdoor kitchen. Racoons will try to bust through the screen windows to steal your food. Ants may come into the kitchen if you leave out a sweet jar of honey. Roaches, too, may try to come join the party. But because this is an outdoor glamping experience in the midst of nature, and because this is an organic farm, we simply cannot predict nor control nor prevent the variety of nature experiences you may have. We keep the cabin very clean and we ask that you do the same in order to prevent attracting animals into the cabin.

ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATIONS
We have another cabin on the property that sleeps 2, and a farmhouse that sleeps 6. Please inquiry if you'd like to make a family or friends trip to the farm!

NOTE: This is comfortable glamping, and the cabin sits on 177 acres of nature. It might be hot. It might be cold. In the summertime there will be bugs, including ticks. They can be especially bad in tall grass and on our trails. We provide some bug spray, but bring your own. Please come with reasonable expectations so you will have a delightful stay!

There is everything you need, the host thinks of everything and is on top of things. You only need to bring the ingredients if you are planning on cooking and ice. There are plates, pots, pans, cups, silverware, coffee, etc. And everything is freshly clean. The cabin does not have any particular smell, everything is just so fresh. I even brought my own pillowcase and my blanket in case I didn’t like how theirs felt, but I ended up using the cabin's instead of mine. The blankets are soft, clean, fresh and the pillows were like puffs of cloud. It surely feels like the host poured her heart and love all over, when you see how well taken care of it is, and how she cares about the little things you may need. And, the view is fantastic, making the dawn and dusk a whole impressive event. A great place to find yourself in this beautiful universe amongst nature. You will feel nothing but love over there. The space
The Getaway at Horse View Farm is a remodeled farmhouse in a rural community outside of Columbia, MO. The Getaway is part of the Little Tree Horse Retirement farm, run by two of your co-hosts .

The kitchen, great room, living room, full bathroom, and one bedroom are located on the main floor. Two additional bedrooms are located upstairs on the second floor. The basement contains a half bathroom and laundry area. The stairs are a bit steep due to the age of the house, so young children and anyone who has trouble with stairs may not find this to be suitable if they need to access the second story or the basement.

Outside, guests will find a large gas grill on the patio along with outdoor dining areas. The front porch is also a great place to enjoy the views of the farm. Feel free to wander around the garden areas and enjoy the peace and quiet of your getaway!
Guest access
Our guests have access to the entire home and yard! The detached garage and shop are not available for guest use. Barns and outbuildings located within fenced pastures or lots are also not available to guests. However, guests should feel free to peruse the outbuildings around the yard and the rustic barn that is just west of the house. Guests do so at their own risk!

Guests are NOT permitted to climb over, crawl under, or open any fences or gates or to otherwise access the pastures in any way. Guests ARE permitted to feed the provided carrots to any horse that wander up to the fence for some attention, but guests acknowledge that they are doing so at their own risk.

- "We were all impressed with the house and all that it offered. The only 4 star rating I gave was for online description- it said to bring your own life jackets and I don’t recall it mentioning anything about having camper chairs onsite. We ended up bringing those items, which we could have bypassed if we would have known better. Outside of that, this property was amazing. Perfect place to escape everyday busyness and enjoy your family. It was super hot when we were there, so having some indoor activities onsite was perfect, and the kayaking and fishing were great for evenings. We were highly impressed with the cleanliness, organization, affordability, and comfort this place offered. 100% recommend and would go back if ever in the area again. "

The Studio Apartment

The fully renovated modern studio is designed around the needs of the mid to long-term traveler. Our studio apartments feature a kitchenette with coffee maker, microwave, and mini-fridge. Dishware, flatware, and basic kitchen items are provided. A walk-in closet with ample shelving and space is directly across from the bathroom featuring a walk-in shower. All linens are complimentary and provided in each room. For entertainment, enjoy fiber internet and a flat screen TV. All guest have access to outdoor spaces, entry/lounge, co-working, fitness and entertainment center, and laundry.
