- "If you’re looking for big accommodations, this is it! There were 6 adults and 2 children (3yrs and 7yrs) and we had so much room. The end of the building that looks like a barn is where a very large kitchen is. The farmers table is long with 8 chairs. The center island is L shaped with 4 swivel chairs. 2 love seats with recliners in both in a corner. Big screen tv over fireplace. This is where we hung out all the time. It’s massive! Plenty of beds for everyone plus 3 full baths and a half bath so no one had to wait for showers. Great outdoor shower for when you get back from the beach. The house is endless for space. The air conditioning was very good. No window units like so many other rentals. I’m a stickler about that. My whole family loves this house. All hardwood floors, so no musty smell. Yes there are a lot of stairs, but even my daughter with a broken ankle and using a walker managed. Location if fabulous. We stay in Dennis because of Mayflower Beach which is where we always took our 3 daughters when they were little. Now our two grandsons enjoy it. It’s near 6A with ice cream nearby, a market where we bought everything. Very quiet neighborhood. We will be back, I hope, soon. Thank you, Joseph, for letting us stay in this beautiful home."

A great traditional knotty pine cottage with inviting living areas highlighted with vaulted wood beamed ceilings, it is appointed with a fully equipped retro kitchen with breakfast bar seating and skylight.

The inviting living room space is bright and airy, and has a sleeper sofa with full size bed. There is a dining table for 4, and an additional sitting area to relax in.

The two cozy bedrooms are also tongue and groove pine paneled; one with a queen bed, the other with a twin bed. The comfy nook in the sunroom, with antique daybed equipped with custom mattress and box spring, is a wonderful spot to curl up with a good book, or to sleep the night away.

The cottage has one full bath with stall shower, a 32 Inch Hi Def TV , a second smaller Smart TV, Cable, High Speed WIFI, gas BBQ grill, wood shed with beach supplies, 2 bicycles, and 2 kayaks, and an outdoor deck with a dining area where you can sit back and enjoy.

There is a window air conditioner and tower room fans if needed, and a wonderful cross-breeze that usually comes through the many windows of the cottage.

A private outdoor shower with hot and cold water and separate changing area provides the perfect experience after a day at the beach.

The nearby beaches are perfect for young and old alike. Splash around in the bay beaches at high tide or explore the miles of tidal pools at low tide.

You can also choose to walk around the corner to secluded Flax Pond (cottage has deeded beach rights), which provides a nice alternative to sunny days at the ocean. You’ll love being able to kayak, canoe, sail a sunfish, swim, or float the day away, in the shady calm warm water Flax Pond provides. Take a relaxing walk through the miles of nature trails that surround Flax Pond, and discover the second small sandy beach on the other side of the pond.

Dennis offers 16 beaches including Cape Cod Bay, Nantucket Sound, and numerous freshwater ponds. This 18th century rustic Cape Cod cottage is on almost 2 secluded acres and has a 200-foot lakefront with beach, boathouse with a bar, kayak, canoe, and Hobie Wave catamaran right on Scargo Lake. With its own swimming and boating beach on freshwater Scargo Lake, the setting alone promises a memorable vacation. You can in the same day swim in the salt waters of Cape Cod Bay and in the pristine water of Scargo Lake and still find time to sail around the lake and feed the ducks and swans. The cottage has a full kitchen, an air-conditioned living/dining room, and two air-conditioned bedrooms upstairs. The cottage sleeps six with a queen bed in one bedroom, and a full bed in the second bedroom. A queen or single air bed can be used downstairs in the living room. All floors are hardwood. Cable TV and WiFi are provided. The cottage has a washer & dryer, dishwasher, full stove with oven, and propane heat for off-season vacations. In addition to a just-renovated bathroom, the cottage has its own outdoor shower with hot and cold water. The boathouse has a bar with bar stools and open area facing the lake. The 200' lakefront is ideal for outdoor dining. At the lakefront is a fire pit where families can gather, make music, watch the moonlight over Scargo Lake, and cook around the fire.

Glacial Scargo Lake is famous on Cape Cod for being both serene and clean. Only sailboats, canoes, etc. are allowed. The lakefront is so quiet that one can often hear the beachgoers playing at the public beach on the other side of the lake, half a mile away. Cape Cod Bay beaches (Howes and Corporation) are a 15-20 minute walk from the cottage (or a 2 minute drive), so one can swim in the bay and rinse off in Scargo Lake’s crystal clear water. Famous Mayflower beach is less than 5 minutes drive away. The lakefront has 3 entrances into the water for swimming, one a sandy beach that is great for children as it is shallow for a considerable distance before the water deepens. The lake is also excellent for sailing, canoeing or kayaking and tenants may use the Hobie Wave Catamaran sailboat, kayak, or canoe (life jackets in the boathouse-mandatory). Bass and trout fishing, including fly-fishing and ice fishing, make the lake a year-round fishing paradise.

The cottage is located off 6A in Dennis Village, a village unchanged since the 1950s. Although set back from the road and secluded by vegetation, the cottage is easily within walking distance of the village. The property is a short walk (5-15 minutes) from the Cape Playhouse (world famous off-Broadway theater), Cape Cinema ('art' films, not commercial fare) Cape Cod Art Museum (well worth a visit, Cape artists), local restaurants (many excellent, some exceptional) and the center of town (a gazebo). A large shopping mall is a ten-minute drive to Patriot Square. The area also has great hiking and biking trails. The review that follows below confirms that people love to vacation at the cottage on Scargo Lake, as will you.

The house was clean and comfortable. Good water pressure (outside and inside showers). Nice grill. Timely and friendly communication with the property manager. Kid friendly (4 and 6 year old) with lots of game/toy options. I liked that the bedroom with the king bed and the bedroom with two twin beds were on the same floor. We enforced that the spiral staircase to the upper deck was off-limits, and that could be an issue with younger kiddos but worked out fine for us. The house could easily accommodate multiple families/children using the bunk bed room on the first level. Highly recommend this rental. We had a fabulous week at Mayflower Beach!"

- "This is the perfect spot for a small family. The house is located close to the Dennis Bay beaches and the south side beaches are a quick 15-20 minute drive away. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and we had no trouble finding easy places to eat and fabulous beaches. We loved going to Chapin and Mayflower at night to watch the sunset and ice cream and the Cape Cod Creamery and Captain Frosty were highlights! The house was clean and very neat. Came with the basics and we were very comfortable. The central AC is nice, but it does get warm at times and can't be changed from 72 degrees. Bring a fan if you get hot at night. The basement was super fun with a small tv room and pool table! Nice yard and outdoor shower as well. We loved this place and would definitely return."
