Rejoice and rejuvenate in this tiny slice of paradise. This recently-constructed cottage (built in 2011) is situated at the end of a private lane, directly on a cove. From the old stone wall in front, it’s literally a stone’s throw to the ocean. To the right of where your stone lands is a rocky shoreline (fishing!), to the left is a pebbly beach (swimming!), and within hiking distance around the points on both sides (beach combing!) are large sandy beaches (sand castles!). A small stream flows into the cove. Less than two miles by road from public beach (South Shore) or hike on shore around the point to a private beach (Briggs).
The cottage has one bedroom, living/dining room, galley kitchen with dishwasher, washer and dryer, one full bathroom (w/ shower), an outside shower, a mostly unfurnished loft that can sleep three, screened porch, and gas grill. We are your neighbors and appreciate reasonably quiet renters.
Come listen to the ocean, admire the stars, walk along the shore, read a novel and feel the wind. The way vacation used to be.
Note #1: Because we dislike fees as much as you do, we don’t charge a cleaning fee or pet fee. In exchange, we ask guests to please treat our cottage kindly.
Note #2: We rent only by the week, from one Saturday to the next. We sometimes relax this policy in spring and fall but will ask for stays of at least 4 nights,

We were interested in stopping in Newport and this place seemed quiet and convenient. It was a great size, lots of room for everything. The kitchen area was well stocked, we cooked several meals and ate at the great kitchen table. Doug and Dabba were amazing hosts and even offered us lots of great suggestions about things to do with our dog, some even became highlights of our trip. Gary was quick to respond when we had a problem with the grill. The area is very special. No crowds, farms with fresh produce and nice beaches. We like to go to the beach to swim so we enjoyed South Shore Beach. It’s a little rocky but if you go to the end of the parking lot and walk onto the beach it gets sandier. There’s a great general store in Little Compton center called Wilber’s. You can get anything you need there from groceries to shoes! About a half hour ride away are some good restaurants worth traveling to-Back Eddy in Westport, MA, The Boat House in Tiverton. This is not a place for those who want to be near restaurants, stores or attractions. However, if you want to relax and leave the hustle and bustle behind this is the place to be!"

- "This country cottage is absolutely perfect! The property is BEAUTIFUL, with lots of open, green space, cows grazing in the pasture, and a lovely, private spot on the bay just a short walk away. There’s plenty of room in the cottage itself, including a screened room as well as a patio with a grill and a deck around the back. The kitchen had everything I needed, and Rebecca had thoughtfully arranged fresh flowers in several places throughout the cottage…such a wonderful touch! And in case anyone is wondering: the bed is extremely comfortable with lots of pillows!!! I was in the area for a remembrance of my son’s passing, and I had several events at the Naval Base in Newport during my three nights stay. The drive is very scenic, and the cottage was close enough that I could return there to change clothes or take a little break before returning to Newport. In other words, a convenient location away from traffic and noise of the city. I couldn’t have asked for a better host than Rebecca. I treasure her kindness and compassion during an emotional weekend, and I appreciate the time she spent listening and sharing with me. She is truly a remarkable lady! To close, I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone seeking a peaceful, quiet, and gorgeous location in the country. It is, indeed, perfect!"

We really hope to return to this piece of heaven!" - "We were looking for a vacation where we could bring our 6-year-old border collie, Annie, with us for the first time. And she had never been to the seashore. What a wonder! The house is perfect and welcoming. Everything you need at hand. The kitchen is more than complete. And Scott and Jill were so welcoming and fun. And to top it off, a short walk to the live lobster shop! We have already planned to come again next year. Annie can't wait to frolic on the beach again!"

- "My dog and I stayed at Hosta for 2+ months in the shoulder season, and we could not have been happier here. It's the kind of place were you wake up each morning wondering how you got so lucky. The 5 min walk to the beach is alongside a pond full of swans and bordered with pollinator plants, so in this season monarch butterflies are everywhere. There are two surf breaks within walking distance and you can hear the ocean from bed. It's a tiny home, but for us it was more than enough."

- "Quaint , Cute ,Quiet, Nice walking to beach, nice porch overlooking round pond Sakonnet Lobster Co, is a short bike ride away, you can pick up chicken lobsters , ride home and have a local lobster and fish corn on the cob dinner!" - "We have been coming to Little Compton for decades, and this is by far our favorite location. Sitting on the front porch, there is no need to go anywhere, because you are already "there" in that you are looking at a peaceful saltwaterish pond (with an active and varied bird population -- they also vacation in L.C.). You can see a sliver of ocean and can hear it, but are sheltered from ocean winds should they act up. But you will want to walk to the beach, and the walk is as good as walking on the beach itself-- quiet and country lane-ish, with intermittent views of ocean and rocks. This is a small cabin -- it was the two of us most of the time -- with one guest on the sofabed for a few nights --and that was fine. This cabin is 100 years old and feels it, in a good way, solid old hardwood floors etc. (No modern granite countertops, and who cares, if you need to have that bring your own.) Hidden highlights of the interior included a totally classic vintage Electrolux vacuum cleaner, the tube kind that looks like a fat dachsund (it works fine, we took pictures of it, we wanted to take it for a walk on the beach but didn't), an equally vintage Waring blender (works better than modern ones, though of course there is a food processor and all the other stuff you need), and something called a Swing-o-Matic, straight out of the 50's, who knows what it does. These were surprises we genuinely appreciated. But it was basically idyllic, the price was decent which was a big factor, and we will be back."

- "We did 5 days in Little Compton over labor day. Very nice quiet area of Little Compton with easy access to beaches, town, etc. House very clean and reasonably well stocked with kitchen equipment as well as a charcoal grill and outdoor fireplace. great for a couple or small family. Would not recommend for 2 couples as the beds will not handle 2 people comfortably. Otherwise i recommend this VRBO for a visit" - "Our visiting grandchildren loved the back yard for playing soccer while the adults hung out on the patio. Jason quickly supplied items we needed. "
