Best of Both Worlds!
Our 2 bedroom guest house, with a rural, idyllic, secluded feel, is only a lovely stroll of less than 3/4 of a mile to the heart of downtown Nevada City. Not just a 'vacation rental'. It is a meticulously maintained 1,100 sf home -- Totally separate, private, sophisticated, quiet, one-of-a-kind, architecturally designed, light filled retreat down a long and private driveway.

Honeycomb Ranch is a non-smoking property located in a 'neighborhood' of 4 ranchettes, each 5 acres apart. It is the perfect retreat/get-away for a couple or a couple of friends or a small family.

The large master bedroom is located at the end of the hall and has a new pillowtop kingsize mattress and a sliding glass door opening onto the deck with meadow and forest views. The second bedroom is smaller but has a very comfortable new pillow-top queen size bed, nightstands and a dresser. There is an additional closet in the entry way if hanging space is needed. (See 'Property Details' for additional information.) The furniture in the living room is extremely comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped and the views from every window are exquisite.

If you live in San Francisco and want to make a quick getaway out of the fog, it is just a 2 1/2 hour drive. Reno is only an hour and 15 minutes away and Sacramento is just an hour. Easy drives to come to a 'world away'! Anytime is the right time to make your reservations. Nevada County boasts a gorgeous, eastern style Fall with brilliant color everywhere. You don't even have to leave our property to see an unbelievable display of Fall colors. There are huge crafts faires over Thanksgiving weekend and there are classical music festivals in the Fall and throughout the year. Professional theater and our Center for the Arts concerts and events take place year round. In the winter, the towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley both hold street fairs in the month of December prior to Christmas and the towns are decorated to look like something out of a Victorian fairy tale. Winter brings ski-ing and within an hour, you can be at major ski resorts in Lake Tahoe. In the spring, quince, daffodils and everything else is in bloom, frogs are croaking and the river will be flowing. In the summer, you can swim in our magnificent Yuba River, hike, stroll to Farmers Markets, attend music festivals and just enjoy. Weddings abound in our area from Spring through the Fall so if you are part of the wedding party or a guest coming from out of town, make your reservations now. An adorable and private cottage in downtown Nevada City - just a few minutes walk to the shops, galleries, cafes, bars, restaurants, and events of the charming and historic Nevada City. The Downtown Bungalow features a bedroom with a queen memory foam bed, flat screen HD TV, closet and chair. The bathroom includes organic shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion, plus a hairdryer and luxurious towels. The kitchen has a full set up including a coffee cone, coffee press, burr coffee grinder, juicer and all the appliances, pans, and dishes you need for your stay (a regular 12-cup coffeemaker is available by request.) A gas grill is on the patio. There is a dining area and lovely outdoor patio under a pergola for your morning coffee or afternoon cocktail. We provide French coffee beans, tea, and sparkling water (+treats!) The Bungalow is a separate building on our property, with owner interaction at a minimum. There is private parking for one car. At some time in its history it was a rectory and then late in the 20th century it was renovated yet again, took on its present 'castle' look, and was known as the Teddy Bear Castle due to the owners' large collection of antique teddy bears which were also the basis of the American Victorian Museum at the Miners Foundry in the 1980's. Lovingly restored to its present Victorian splendor and completed updated in 2004, it is now a perfect little Gothic Victorian gem from which to explore all that Nevada City and the environs have to offer. The North Columbia Story Telling Festival, also held every year, has gained wide notoriety and draws folks from all over to hear some of the country's best storytellers. North Columbia, just a short drive from Nevada City, is a former gold rush town, now just a crossroads with the old two room schoolhouse converted to a community center as the venue for the festival. The Nevada City area has been booming with new trails connecting the town to its Deer Creek watershed. The latest major addition is the Deer Creek Environs section of the Tribute Trail. This trailhead is a short 2 minute walk from the cottage. The Environs is a forested 1.5 mile loop on the south side of Deer Creek where, just a few minutes from town. There’s a walk along the old Rough and Ready ditch, a woodsy foray downslope from the ditch, remnants of the Providence Mine, and an easy connection by foot or bicycle to Nevada City.

The cottage is conveniently located on a quiet street with separate driveway. The front door is opened using a unique access code that will be provided to you the day of arrival.

The cottage is nestled in natural, non-manicured, outdoor surroundings with a private gravel driveway and off-street parking. If we know you are arriving after dark, we will leave lights on for you as there are no street lights on our end of the street. The cottage is the first house on the right just after the row of mailboxes, also on the right.

There is parking in the driveway for 2 vehicles. Just a brief walk through a beautiful trail following Deer Creek or down a cascade of stairs will put you in the center of downtown Nevada City. You can also take the streets (5 min walk) into town. We are very centrally located.

JC Property Solutions LLC provides the Vacation Rental subject to the terms of this Agreement. You agree that you will be present at the Vacation Rental for the entire duration of the reservation and that you will be responsible for the actions and behavior of each individual present at the Vacation Rental during your stay. This includes ensuring everyone in your party or otherwise present at the Vacation Rental (each an “occupant”) is aware of and in compliance with the terms identified in this Agreement. If you are bringing a minor as an occupant, you acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for the supervision of that minor throughout the duration of your stay and agree to the terms of this Agreement on each minor’s behalf.
2. PAYMENT TERMS & CANCELLATION. The total amount due, including the base rates, taxes, and fees are displayed on the checkout webpage for the Vacation Rental. A portion of your total payment may be due upon checkout, as indicated in the “amount to be charged now” line. The balance is due prior to arrival within the schedule indicated on the reservation webpage. Please review these amounts carefully. You may cancel your booking at any time, however, all amounts that have been paid prior to your cancellation will be non-refundable unless specifically indicated otherwise at checkout. Please review the specific cancellation and refund terms in the listing you are reserving prior to checkout as exceptions will not be made once your reservation is confirmed.
3. HOUSE RULES & POLICIES. The Vacation Rental may have specific rules and policies regarding pets, smoking/vaping, quiet hours, parking, pool and/or hot tub usage, and
other local, HOA, or property regulations. These rules are detailed in the description section of the Vacation Rental listing, in an Exhibit A attached hereto, or as otherwise delivered to you, and are incorporated into this Agreement. Please review these terms carefully, as violation(s) may result in additional fees or the immediate removal of you and other members of your party from the Vacation Rental without refund. Further, violation of any law or ordinance by any individual at the Vacation Rental during your reservation will result in the immediate removal of you and other members of your party from the Vacation Rental without refund.
4. ARRIVAL DETAILS & CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT. Once your booking has been paid in full, you will receive contact information for the primary contact for your stay (your “Guest Contact”). Check-in and check-out times will be communicated to you prior to your arrival, unless otherwise set forth in the description of the Vacation Rental. Please confirm your expected arrival time with your Guest Contact. If you or any member of your group fails to vacate the Vacation Rental at the designated check-out time, you grant JC Property Solutions LLC the right to charge the credit card number used to book the Vacation Rental for an additional night. Further, JC Property Solutions LLC or the home owner may initiate any and all proceedings necessary to remove you, your occupants, or your belongings from the Vacation Rental.
5. DAMAGE. Any damage to the Vacation Rental must be reported to JC Property Solutions LLC before check-out. You agree damage is your full responsibility. This may include damage or loss occurring during your stay, violations of house rules or policies, additional cleaning fees, and/or any fines or other costs incurred by the behavior of you or any other occupant during your stay in violation of laws or other regulations. You grant JC Property Solutions LLC the right to charge the credit card number used to book the Vacation Rental for any such damages, including, but not limited too, additional cleaning fees. To ensure that the proper party is held responsible, please notify your Host of any damage found at check-in.

- "We just spent the weekend at H&D and it was truly the best. Everything about this gem is so charming! We used the fire pit for coffee in the morning (there’s two different style coffee makers), the king bed was super comfy, it was a good walk to get into the cute little historic downtown for coffee, farmers market, pizza, beer, you name it! The house was very clean and had so many cute personal touches. •Board games, pack n play for baby, kitchen stuff, extra linens, toiletries. We spent a couple hours enjoying sunshine in the yard and loved every second of being here. NV City and H&D retreat… we will be back! Thank you."

Looking for a romantic weekend for 2 or large family vacation? Watanda Lodge, located 2 miles from downtown Nevada City is the perfect get-away for families or friends who vacation together. Our 10-acre site is a retired resident camp renovated for family enjoyment. Watanda Lodge alone can be rented by your family or a couple for a romantic weekend or both lodge and cabin (VRBO #33191). Watanda Lodge sits on Lake Vera which is shared by 3 seasonal working camps.

The non-smoking lodge contains a large stocked, gourmet kitchen for meal preparation for up to 30 persons. The lodge bathroom one toilet and one tub/shower. Adjacent bath house has 3 toilets and 3 showers. The Great Room has a large ten-foot fireplace with wood burning insert for chasing away the winter chill. Heat and A/C throughout lodge. Direct-TV/DVD & StarLink internet, phone for local calls. Large DVD collection & puzzles for your enjoyment. **Maximum in the lodge is 8 for overnight sleeping, additional guests use the camping Kiosks. Kiosks are not suitable for Fall/Winter use. Day guest use is 30 maximum.

Lodge sleeping accommodations for 8, rest of guests use the Camping Kiosks (not suitable for winter use). The large dorm style Lodge bedroom contains one king bed, (linens provided for king bed only), two twin bunk beds and one twin bunk bed in the great room. Only the king bed will be made up, linen sets will be provided for the bunks depending on the number of guests in your reservation. Additionally, there are 12 pillows. Toiletries and towels are provided for groups of 6 only, larger groups will need to bring own towels. Cabin rents separately from the lodge.

LAKE VERA is a small private lake, there are a variety of watercraft for your use including 5 canoes and 5 kayaks. Life jackets are provided and required for all boaters. No fishing license is needed. A picnic area and large fire ring are located on the waterfront, accommodating 30. There is little shade on the waterfront, we do provide two shade canopies, but you might consider bringing one. The lake is drained from about November 1 (depending on rainy season) to mid-April; water level begins to drop in August and can be quite low in dry summers. There is an ALL-Lake quiet from 9:30 pm-7:00 am in which only quiet activities that do not create a disturbance.

Minimum stay is 3 days from Memorial Day to Labor Day and Holidays, 2-day minimum the rest of the year. Small cabin on the property may be also rented at the same time if the entire site is not rented by your group. Motor Homes can navigate our entrance, but not large Coaches. We do not have RV hook-ups or the capacity to run extension cords.

NEVADA CITY: Nevada City has many year-round events, and the Fall colors and weather are not to be missed. December has Victorian Christmas and Grass Valley has Celtic Christmas; both are weekly events thru December. The fairgrounds are close by with many antique and quilt shows. There are also several wineries in the area and many fine restaurants and antique stores. Grocery stores, consumer services and hospital, are less than 5 miles away.

SUMMER USE: Great for families large or small, or friends who vacation together. The Yuba River is 3 miles away. Equestrian trails and staging areas along Hwy 20. Many developed bike trails in the area. We do not permit motorized biking on our 10 acres.

WINTER USE: Nevada City and Grass Valley both have weekly Christmas Fairs in December offering many local artisans. Great location for Tahoe skiers who do not want to pay resort prices. Cross country skiing 45 minutes away on Hwy 20, snow play less than 20 minutes up Hwy 20. We are at 2500 ft elevation and is located off main road which is plowed but has long driveway that is not plowed. There is parking at the road entrance if snow is a problem but rarely is. Saucer sleds available.

PETS: Well behaved owners with good citizen dogs are welcome, however dogs are not allowed in the kitchen or on furniture. Please help us to remain pet friendly by observing this.

Dogs must have current rabies vaccination. It is recommended that dogs be treated 3 days before your arrival with a topical flea and tick medication.

Dogs are not allowed to roam the property and must be under the direct control of the owner. Any dog showing aggressive behavior or interferes with guest enjoyment will be asked to board the dog(s) off site.

Pictures don't do it justice, lodge was very well appointed, beds were amazingly comfortable and the property was just beautiful. Can't beat a fire by the lake. It was fun because we were there the week the lake was filling up so everyday our paddling experience on the lake was different! Loved the wildlife - saw several types of birds, a couple of turtles, and heard the frogs. Great hikes in the area, we easily found a few that worked for our 4 year old and dog. We liked to go for a hike in the am and then come back to the lake to relax in the pm. Kathyn's communication was top notch - responsive and proactive. We hope to come again."

PLEASE NOTE BEFORE REQUESTING TO BOOK: Serenity Cabin does not have its own bathroom or running water inside the cabin, though a 5-gallon jug of water for washing and tea, coffee etc. is provided. SMOKING/FIRE SAFETY: During high fire season (summer and early fall) we must be extremely careful with fires and smoking. Smoking is allowed on the cabin decks, fire pit and picnic areas, and in your vehicle but not in the outback on trails as it is prohibited by the local forest service.

OUTDOOR FIRE PITS: If you would like to build a fire in the outdoor pit there is a firewood fee of $20 per hour. **Please check in with us at the main house before you use the outdoor pit.***

- "We had a wonderful stay at the Wisdom Retreat. It was exactly what we were looking for: a remote cabin in a beautiful forest where we could escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Adam was a great host. He quickly responded to messages and stay made sure we were comfortable during our stay (and he's fun to talk to!). For three days we replaced our TV with a fireplace and loved every minute of it. We saw two bears on our way in which was really cool. There are some great walks you can do without leaving the property. When we went in late November, there was snow on the ground in places (needed good, warm boots). The Yuba River is a short drive. We went to Malakoff Diggins State Park which has some great hikes as well. Things to know: This rental is for people who enjoy being close to nature. The cabin is very rustic and has limited amenities. There was no hot water and the nearest bathroom is a composting outhouse (hot water may be available in the future). There is a flushing toilet and hot shower available at the main house. So why the price? The beautiful, remote, private location makes it worth it. I also appreciate the difficulties and expenses associated with running a remote off-grid property. In my experience, being closer to nature means giving up some modern conveniences. Also note: Firewood for the cabin is included. Firewood for outdoor fires is an additional cost (at the time of this writing). So if you're looking for a remote, beautiful place to unplug, and you appreciate the simplicity of a rustic (limited amenities) cabin, this place is great. My son and I made some great memories here."

About this space
Gorgeous industrial modern 1BR studio in heart of Nevada City Historical District, steps away from eclectic bars, award-winning restaurants, shops, and night life. This cozy beautiful studio apt is spacious and comfortable enough for a full months stay or a weekend away. Off street parking is private and free.

We love DOGS so feel free to bring your pup. There is a small fee of $35 so please check that box. Please do let us know if Fido will be staying too.
The space
Modern designer build with high-end custom materials and finishes throughout. This cozy studio-style space has a cushy queen bed, with luxury linens, down comforter and fluffy pillows. There is a large TV on the wall across from the bed. At the end of a full day of exploring/shopping/dining, kick off your shoes, heat up the left-overs and lounge in bed watching your favorite shows on Netflix.

Please note the location in the description as we are in town and very close to the business district. As such you may experience some light noise in the early evening.

Note: There is NO additional lounging space (couch, side chairs, etc) but there is a bistro table and chairs for morning coffee or intimate dinner for 2.

The galley kitchenette is just off the sleeping space but separated and has full size stainless steel appliances, high-end fixtures, custom cabinetry, and granite countertops. Small built in fridge, microwave, and fully stocked dishware and cookware.

The bathroom is separate and private with an industrial-design flair and includes custom tile and cabinetry, a spacious walk-in shower, and bath amenities.
