- "Everything was wonderful. " - "My wife, dog, and I had an enjoyable stay here for a week in the spring. Winery and farm grounds are cute and offer lots of places to relax and explore. Winery owners/staff were super nice, and property management was responsive to messages. Location is great, not far from Shenandoah Natl Park, Luray, etc, and there is even a grocery store 5 mins away. Property isn't a "secluded/private in the woods" feel as its located on the winery grounds and being a partitioned addition to the winery owners house, but for us it was nice to have the wine tasting room and outdoor areas only steps away. Inside of the rental was pretty nice too, equipped with kitchen essentials, a comfortable bed and sofa, etc. Our only suggestions for improvement would be 1) to update the listing as the living space is definitely well short of the advertised 2500 square feet, and 2) stocking the kitchen with a few more plates/bowls as there was only 4 each. These were only minor issues though, we definitely enjoyed our stay, would return, and do recommend!"

The Cowboy Cabin is one of two non-connected duplex cabins. The Cowboy Cabin is dog-friendly, with two dogs the maximum number allowed. We kindly ask that all dogs be kept on a leash while on the premises, for the safety of both our farm animals and your pets.

The cabin features one bedroom with a queen bed, one bathroom with a shower & jacuzzi tub, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable dining and living space, flat screen cable TV and Wi-Fi. Linens and kitchenware are provided. They both have a covered, wrap-around porch with rocking chairs and stunning views of the property, as well as an outdoor common area with fire pit and gas grill. The detached apartment was just completed and features all the amenities you need for relaxing. Guests have dedicated parking and their own separate private entrance with electronic keypad locks, so there are no keys to worry with.

Amenities include queen bed, fully furnished kitchen with full size refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker. Dishes, silverware, pots and pans, toaster, hair dryer, full size washing machine and dryer, propane grill, fire pit, and lounge chairs. Guests have Internet and DISH satellite TV. Overlooking the South Fork of the Shenandoah River, guests can access the river via two separate public boat landings in under a five minute drive. The property borders River Bend Ranch, a 250 acre working ranch which offers horseback trail rides to riders of all skill level. The apartment offers magnificent views of the ranch and large riding ring.

The property is 20 miles from the Thornton Gap Entrance of Skyline Drive. Skyline Drive is a 105-mile road that runs the entire length of the Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The drive provides access to numerous trails, including the Appalachian Trail, and it is also used for biking and horseback riding. Skyline Drive is the main road through Shenandoah National Park and has access to campgrounds, visitor centers, and resorts such as Skyland Resort and Big Meadows. Please be advised this is a mountainous property. The main roads are paved but the private road on the property is hard-packed gravel. You may experience minor ruts, steep inclines and rough terrain. Most front wheel drive vehicles have no trouble accessing the property as long as you drive safely and slowly. During the inclement weather of the winter season such as snow or ice you may need 4 wheel drive or tire chains to get up to the property. We also recommend Travel Insurance during winter months.

Please note that we do not give refunds for road conditions that are out of our control. We recommend a 4 wheeled drive vehicle or a truck to access this property during the winter season.

Please note that due to the remoteness of this bunker, the cellular Wifi can at times be limited, slow, and/or intermittent. We are able to get Verizon cellular and data service on our phones pretty well most of the time in and out of the property. In the mountains, nature, books, your friends, and your family are your entertainment!

Come be wild with the mountains! Our cozy and comfortable family propertyis bordered on two sides by the National Park and only a 1.5 mile drive (or walk) on a quiet roadto foot accessinto the park. From there you are just over a mile from intersecting with theAppalachian Trail and then the Big Meadows area and all of its phenomenal hikes. And while there are some phenomenal sunset views from SkylineDrive and along the trails,it's hard to find a better chance for an explosion of color and vista thanfrom the living room, balcony or patio of Shenandoah Hideaway.

Our home is under 20 minutesfromthe beautiful town of Luray, with its famous caverns and charming Main Street, and only 30-40 minutes from northern and southern automobile entrances to the National Park. We are less than 10 minutes from basic conveniences in the town of Stanley, and just over 30 minutes from Massanutten Resort and on toHarrisonburg.

It is important to mention a few facts first. We have a phenomenal western view that often provides a breathtaking sunset, but that view comes with a steep climb on the road to the house. It is a paved, state-maintained road, but demands precaution during poor, especially winter, weather. Also, there are lots of animals in the forest around the house, including: venomous snakes, black bear, coyote, deer, skunksand many others. Please be mindful of your safety! Additionally,while are doing our best to manage the bugs in the house, this house was built in 1964 and at times they come with the territory. However, we have the house equipped to help you manage them if needed. Finally, the wind and the sun can be intense at times given our elevation and exposure, so please keep that in mind with your belongings outdoors.

All that being said, our family bought this cabin in 2024 with the hope of creating a comfortable hiking retreat for ourselves that we can also share with others. We have added a new gas fireplace, outdoor walking, sitting and storage spaces, and also ceiling fans and new furniture to the interior. We have strong internet service and a well-equipped kitchen and laundry space. If you enjoy hiking, it is a 1.1 mile hike to the AT and then multiple excellent day hikes are available, including: Lewis Spring Falls, Dark Hollow Falls, Rose River Falls, Big Meadows, Hazeltop Mountain and more.

This home accommodates up to four people, per county regulations, but includes two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and a loft with a large pull-out sofa. There is a full bathroom on the bottom floor and a half bath on the top floor. We also have fitness equipment and outdoor games in the car port, as well as a hammock, fire pit and picnic table on the back patio, with lots of firewood provided.

This unique setting up in the mountains is accessed by a gravel State Road and steep 1/4 mile long gravel driveway which requires a sufficient Front-Wheel Drive Vehicle (i.e. Honda CRV, Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Volvo XC 60). FWD sedans generally do NOT make it up the driveway. Most FWD drive minivans do not make it all the way up the driveway due to the weight distribution. A Rear Wheel Drive Vehicle will not make it up the driveway. AWD vehicles have no issues accessing the property and are preferable to ensure complete mobility.

The cottage was recently remodeled, providing modern comforts while maintaining an atmosphere of peaceful country refuge. It sits atop a hill at the end of a gravel road and is surrounded by farmland.

Inside, on the main floor, you’ll find the kitchen, living room, dining room, and the first of three bedrooms.The living room is furnished with a couch (including a pull-out bed) and two fun spinning chairs, perfect for gathering or watching a movie. The dining room is located adjacent to the living room and is furnished with a six-seat dining table.

Luray and the surrounding area offer several different dining options, but sometimes you want to enjoy a home-cooked meal while taking in your surroundings. That's why our kitchen is fully stocked with all the essentials you'll need to cook you and your family a nice dinner.

On the first floor we also have a full bath with tub, ideal for those staying in Bedroom 1. This bedroom includes a large closet and is furnished with a queen bed and sitting chair.

Upstairs you’ll find Bedrooms 2 and 3, along with the second full bathroom, which includes a stand-up shower. Bedroom 2 is the largest of the three bedrooms and is equipped with a king-sized bed, dresser, and corner sitting area. This bedroom also includes a desk and chair, making an ideal work space if needed. Look up from your computer and catch a glimpse of the Blue Ridge Mountains out the window.

Bedroom 3 is located across the hall from Bedroom 2 and is furnished with two twin beds.

Sometimes your party needs to spread out. The cottage’s furnished basement includes another sitting area and TV, as well as a game room. The washer and dryer are also located in the basement and available for your use.

The property’s outside offers several activities, as well. Feel free to lounge on the hammock or relax on one of the balcony rocking chairs, taking in the view of the Ida Valley. (Pro tip: this west-facing balcony is the perfect spot for watching the sun set!) At night, gather around the fire pit for s’mores and conversation.

While the home is equipped to host 8 people, we think the perfect group size is 5-6. We're happy to host all 8, but keep in mind it will be a little cozier.

We are pet-friendly and happy to welcome you and up to *two* furry friends but do require an additional fee of $50. **Please read more about pet requirements in our House Rules.**

Guests have access to the entire home and property, except for the exterior shed. Feel free to explore the grounds during your stay.

Please note: The cottage is located in a rural setting surrounded by working farms. You WILL see bugs and you WILL see wildlife. Deer, rabbits, and various other wildlife are known to frequent the property. You may even spot cows grazing along the fence line. At the very least, you will hear them mooing in the distance! We treat regularly for bugs and do our best to minimize their presence, but they are a fact of life in rural/farm settings such as this.

In an effort to keep the entire property more secure, we have installed a Security Camera on the exterior of the cottage. We respect your privacy--no living spaces are monitored.
NO PARTIES OR EVENTS WHATSOEVER. We have an external security camera on-site and are able to see if people outside your group come to the house. This will result in an IMMEDIATE cancellation of your reservation with NO refund.

We run on septic. Please only flush toilet paper and NOTHING else. If the septic clogs during your stay, a fee will be assessed to have a plumber come and make repairs.

We live a few hours away and were coming up for a day for my husband to fish and for me to make Vlog videos of the scenery. We are in our 70s and travel for us was dangerous so we turned around and came home. I inquired with the Seller if they would be willing to allow us to change to a few days later, given the cabin was not rented the night before we would come up. We were only staying a day and requesting the change within a few days. It's not like we were trying to rebook f6 months down the road or for a week or more. It was a simple request that we feel could have easily been accommodated. They refused. We had an air-bnb for 5 years and we would have gladly worked out this simple arrangement with a renter. During the inclement weather of the winter season such as snow or ice you may need 4 wheel drive or tire chains to get up to the property. We also recommend Travel Insurance during winter months.
