The old motor lodge re-invented! We recently took two hotel rooms and combined into one nice kitchenette suite. All new bathrooms, kitchens, doors, windows, lock system and furniture. Still has the old radiators and wall mounted AC units that we just couldn't find a way around, but they work great! An excellent base camp to enjoy the Black Hills and Badlands. Owners are avid hikers and mountain bikers who have lived in the area their entire lives. Happy to help get you pointed in the right direction. This apartment is located on the second floor.

Located on the first floor, this area is the original master bedroom of the McDonald Ranch Lodge. The Lodge was designed and built by Richard McDonald, the current resident and owner. The suite has been slightly redesigned to become a lovely space for our guest’s enjoyment.

An entrance to the Master Suite has been added to the cozy, private deck. The deck has built in bench seating beneath a large oak tree. There is also a table with two chairs for outdoor dining.
The suite faces the front of the property, to the East, with views of the fields across the county road. A kitchenette has been added which includes a sink, dining and basic cooking utensils, toaster, drip coffeemaker, microwave, induction hot plate with cooking pans, and dorm size fridge. A large flat screen TV with a Roku stick and remote are included. We use Starlink satellite internet for our WiFi, free of charge for our guests.

This suite includes custom wood flooring, a vaulted ceiling with considerable windows, and a king size bed. The in-suite bathroom includes a large jacuzzi bathtub with windows, sink with expansive counter space, toilet closet, and a spacious walk-in shower.

This suite is ideal for a couple, or as additional space to the adjacent Carriage House Cabin. The Carriage House Cabin is located a few steps away, to the South.
I.E. Dad, Mom, and a couple of little ones in the Carriage House with Grandma and Grandpa in the Master Suite.

There is a three day minimum to reserve the Master Suite.

We do not have guest laundry facilities. There are laundromats in Keystone and Hill City. Garbage cans are located on the West facing part of the main house, where the parking area is.

Unfortunately, due to many considerations, we do not allow pets / animals on the property. No exceptions. If a guest arrives for their reservation with an animal they will NOT be given a rental key NOR issued a refund. Thank you for understanding.

Driving and Parking Info:The Ranch is located directly off of a well maintained and paved county road. Our driveways are hard packed dirt and gravel. We have limited parking near each of the cabins and suites. We have an additional parking area at the rear of the main lodge. We have a large, well kept meadow beyond that for overflow parking of motorcycle trailers, side by sides, etc. We ask that you please do not block the main driveways or the two car garage at the front of the property.

Check in is at 4:00pm MST or later. Check out is by 11:00am MST.
Due to our small staff we do not offer early check in nor late check out.

The floors are heated which was amazing! The fresh farm eggs were a great bonus. The king size bed was chef’s kiss! The view was amazing as well and not far from one of my favorite hiking spots! Was affordable and definitely a better option than a hotel! My hubby was sad about the tv size but we ended up not using it at all and it motivated us to just focus on each other. We were originally looking for a place with a hot tub but are so glad we found this little homestead! Their dog nova made our trip that much better, always there when we got back ready the greet us and nova even joined us for our out door spur of the moment dance! 1. If any issues arise during your stay, it’s essential to communicate with us promptly. Good communication between the guest and host is critical to ensuring a smooth and successful stay. You should respond to us (the hosts) within 24 hours when we reach out to resolve an issue. In certain situations, we may need to send our case manager to review the situation in person to fully address any concerns.

2. It is a "must" to read the entire listing description and the house rules of our property. If, in this case, you DO NOT read over our listing description or house rules and are not comfortable with something that is clearly stated, we will uphold our cancellation policies.

3. No unregistered guests/visitors unless preapproved

4. Follow state laws when using fire pit

5. Please keep noise to a minimum after 10PM and always be respectful of the neighbors.

6. No parties or events unless previously organized in writing with the host. If there’s evidence of a party or event, there’ll be an additional charge of $200.

7. For noise complaints

7.1 If we receive any noise complaints from neighbors a security guard will be called out to the property at a cost of $85 to guests for the first call out.
7.2. If security is called a second time during your stay, you will be charged a $250 fee and be removed from the premises with no refund of your stay.

8. No smoking anywhere in this house. If we find evidence of smoking anywhere in the house you will be charged $300 for extra cleaning.

Inspired by Art Alley just across the road, we’ve brought some of Downtown Rapid City’s charm into our Lofts by having a local artist create a unique piece on a wall in each apartment. This apartment is fully furnished and is ready with all the tools needed for you to cook, play, relax and sleep.

Now here are a few details about each space in this apartment: all of the beautiful windows have blackout curtains that can be pulled down. The kitchen sports a fridge, freezer, oven, stove, microwave and dishwasher and is stocked with pots, pans, cooking and eating utensils, and coffee maker - we cannot forget about the coffee maker! There is a sweet breakfast nook for two to enjoy your home-cooked (or takeout) meals at. The living room has a couch, an accent chair and a widescreen TV with ROKU for all of your streaming channels. The bedroom has a queen bed and clothing storage unit with drawers and a rack (hangers provided!), and if you need a Pack and Play for baby, we have that available upon request! The bathroom has a lighted mirror, spacious shower and towels for convenience. We provide a parking space for you in the covered parking garage at Main St Square, but additional parking is available on 7th St. and all throughout downtown.

The 7th Street Lofts are in the heart of Downtown Rapid City, and are right by some of our favorite spots in town! Not only do you have quick access to Art Alley, but Main St. Square is three blocks away, Tally’s Silver Spoon is two blocks away (they have the best breakfast in town!) and the Tinder Box, a cocktail lounge and smoke shop, is right across the street. While the studio is smalll (225 sq ft), it is clean and cozy, and if anything is needed to make your stay comfortable, we will do what we can to accommodate requests. At 225 sq. ft, one person is comfortable. Two people makes for a cozy stay! Full-size bed and enjoy free WiFi, too.

Other things to note
This four-plex was originally a farmhouse built in the early 1900s and was later moved onto this location. While the unit has been updated, it still retains some of the original charm with its original wood floors. It's a great place to relax after a full day of exploring in the Hills.

Also, please note this is a SMALL studio with a full bed. It can accommodate 2 people, but it will be cozy.

High speed internet is included. Instructions for wireless internet are provided in the Air BnB app. There was a previous review stating wifi isn't included. This was from our first guest, and wifi is now available.

This is also a smoke-free unit, both inside and anywhere on the property. Pets are not allowed.

*****During the winter months, we have snow in South Dakota. There's on street parking for this unit, and there's a very small hill that you will walk up to get to the apartment. We do our best to make sure the sidewalk and steps are shoveled, but we are 25 minutes from town. There is also a shovel provided in the event of snow..*****

We have been working to update the 4 units, but they still have some quirks, like squeaky wood floors and original interior doors that don't necessarily close perfectly. The units are also cooled with Window AC units which are louder than Central Air. The 4-Plex is part of an area in West Boulevard that contains other older homes that have been converted to multi-family units. Please be aware of this when booking. While the majority of guests are fine with the location and uniqueness that come with an older home, some have given lower star ratings for the location, squeaky floors and interior doors. Even though it's centrally located with easy access to Mt. Rushmore and downtown Rapid City, it's still in an older part of Rapid City! Please reach out with any questions prior to booking. We work hard to earn those 5-Star ratings and want to ensure that our guests are fully satisfied with their stay!

Your family will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally-located basement apartment. The Central States Fairground, The Monument Civic Center, downtown Rapid City, and Rushmore Crossing are all within a 10 minute drive.

We do have full-time tenants on the property with dogs. Some noise should be expected. The pets have their own dedicated space and contact with the pets should be minimal, if at all. We have one security camera located outside the entrance to the apartment.

The space
There is ample parking for our guests. The space is off-street and can fit at least 2 vehicles. Guests will go down the steps and enter into the kitchen. The kitchen sink has a separate faucet that supplies our guests with filtered water from a reverse osmosis. This is especially useful for water, coffee, and tea lovers and cooking enthusiasts. Please, be aware that our hot water is very hot so make sure to use both the hot and cold water while checking the temperature. There are two bedrooms with one queen size bed in each room. The sofa in the living room converts to a full size bed and can hold two people but it may be tight with two adults. Please note that this space may restrict what each individual guest may find most comfortable. I strive for every guest to feel comfortable in the apartment and enjoy their stay. Thank you!

This apartment has a private entrance right up front that is accessed with a code. There is parking space in front of the door. Once you enter the apartment and walk down the hallway towards the rooms, there are two doors. On the right is the door to the bathroom. On the opposite side, is a sliding door that leads to the utility room. Please, do not go into this room.

Other things to note
Please note that this apartment is in a basement and has low ceilings. Also, note that the utility room to all three apartments is located in a closed off room in the basement. There are three water heaters and furnaces in that room. In addition, a water softener that supplies the whole house with soft water sits in there. This studio has been completely remodeled and is located on the Westside of RC. There are two grocery stores within a mile, a local pizza place is next door, a popular fast food restaurant a block away and Canyon Lake Park with paddle boats and RC's bike path is right down the street. It does have steep set of stairs that lead you into this amazing studio. It is equipped with a full kitchen, a king-sized bed, a smart TV, and two comfortable chairs to enjoy your favorite shows.

The studio is small and has a steep set of stairs. It has everything you would need for a short or long stay. There is a laundry room specifically for this studio.

Guests park next to the main house, enter through the private entrance. Upon entering you will see the stairs, walk down the stairs, open the white solid wood door and you will have arrived
