- "We needed to book a beach getaway with one weeks notice....we got very lucky finding this perfect 2 BR apt 100 yards from the Beach on VRBO. Our host Tom was outstanding! He fixed up this little apt complex 1/2 block from the beach, but it also has a very cute backyard with family games, a firepit for the evening, on a pond with free use of kayaks, paddleboards, beach gear. He even provided a very nice folding cot as needed for one of my sons just for better sleeping space. When you just want to be able to park your car, and be able to walk everywhere from there on to hit the beach, restaurants, shops, etc this place was terrific. My two sons 20 & 14 had a blast using the paddleboards and hitting the beach. Tom the host owns a business next door and lives across the street so he is pretty much always available to help with any problem or inform you about the area attractions. The apt is an older complex but the place was very clean and had all the needed necessities. The view from the large deck overlooking the pond was gorgeous and a great place to eat breakfast and have your coffee. It is an older beach apt without a/c but we did not need it as we had cool seabreezes. There is some street noise but to be expected due to the great location, it did not bother us at all. We had more fun at this place then hotels costing 3 times as much. If not for the excellent host, I was almost hesitant to write this review for fear of more people discovering this place."

- "Let’s just stay I have stayed in many VRBO properties before. This one is the WORST AND really will impact my future vacation searches. I usually always read up on reviews of properties before booking. Although on this rental there were no review. SO I feel it is my obligation to warn future renters. We booked for 2 nights .. after surviving the first night we left property first thing in the morning . There were many reasons why. Property is not as it appears in description. They leave out the fact you are renting the 1st floor of the old I am not sure what type of building this is. You enter through an old run down cement part of the building. I am assuming It was a garage. The place was filthy and full of junk . Everything in the rental was old and dirty. The 3 bedrooms were filled with old items just stored in every crevice of the house. The screen door had many holes there were many spiders and daddy long legs hanging from ceilings. One of the bedroom had no working lights or electrical outlet. The beds were horrific. I am suffering still from back aches. My nice ended up spending the first day of her trip in ER due to the conditions of this rental. It triggered her asthma and totally ruined are main reason to Westerly get away. There was so much mold and dust/ dirtiness I. This property. We refer to it the Westerly Nightmare!!!!"

- "To start we were given the wrong keys so we had to wait to check in for the owner to show up. We get in the apartment, and everything is old. Worn. Mismatched. There was a smell of mold especially in the bathroom. Keys don’t work right in the door; you have to jiggle and play and even then my daughter couldn’t get it to work. Drains in the sinks drain so slow. The listing says laundry and soap provided but the soap was old and clumped together and the dryer didn’t work. The AC in the second bedroom leaks like a hose. Beds are old and uncomfortable. The 3rd bedroom has glass doors that don’t close properly. The communication isn’t even through the owner, it’s through the cleaning company. So any issues your to contact them and they contact the owner which led to me just being left on read majority of the time. Just a big mess for the amount of money you pay. "

On warm days, cool off at the neighborhood swimming dock at the end of Wagner Road or make the short 10-minute drive to the beach. Melania can provide a town beach parking pass upon request—just be sure to return it, as there is a fine for any lost passes. Alternatively, you can use a nearby free fishing access lot.

Shelter Harbor’s location on the eastern side of Westerly offers both peace and proximity, with easy day trips to Mystic, Newport, and entertainment options like Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos. Downtown Westerly is also nearby, full of restaurants, shops, and charm.

The guest suite is a bright, hardwood-floored studio with a private bedroom featuring a queen bed and a pullout couch in the main living area, comfortable for two adults. This 2 bed, 1 bath condo is the perfect spot for your next beach getaway! Just cross the street and you are at the beach! Our condo is beautifully renovated and impeccably clean. The condo includes two bedrooms (both with queen beds) , one full bath, a fully updated kitchen with 2 seating areas, and a living room with a Smart TV, cable television, and WiFi. After the beach, you can hang out on our private deck and enjoy the ocean and pond views, or cool off in the central air conditioning.

The space
-Only available to be rented from Saturday to Saturday in peak season.
-This condo has a maximum capacity of 4 people.
-One parking space is included with the rental. Additional parking spaces may be purchased for an additional fee.
-This rental is situated above a retail store and is directly across the street from the ocean.
-Guests will be provided with walk-on passes to the private Misquamicut Fire District Beach.
-Guests bring their own linens and towels (unless guest asks in advance).

Guest access
Guests have entire condo to themselves. Guests are permitted to use majority of the balcony, but should not block access to storage room.

Bird’s Eye View is a private waterfront apartment occupying the entire third floor of our historic house in the Weekapaug area of Westerly. The property sits at the end of Winnapaug Pond, one of the area’s most stunning salt ponds and home to a rich variety of local and migrating wildlife, particularly aquatic birds. Our property is a 15 minute walk to the oceanfront and short drive to downtown Westerly, a vibrant hub with eclectic dining, small boutiques, live music and cultural events.

The space
The apartment is a newly renovated space and has a modern inviting feel.

The unit includes a bedroom with a queen-size bed and armoire, a living room with lounge chairs and a single daybed, a combined kitchen and dining area with an induction cooktop and quartz counters, and a full bathroom with a frameless glass shower.

The unit is equipped with central air conditioning and heating to keep you comfortable in any season. The living area is well appointed with a Bose Sounddock, a collection of our favorite paperbacks, games, and a LED Smart TV ready for your Netflix login. The kitchen is properly equipped with a full refrigerator, induction cooktop, toaster oven, cookware, utensils, a french press, a pour-over coffee setup, basic spices and condiments. The bathroom offers organic cotton bath towels, natural soap, shampoo and conditioner. For your outings, we also provide beach towels, a small cooler, beach chairs and a beach umbrella.

The ground level terrace is setup with lounge chairs, a SoloStove, kindling, firewood, and a fire starter. There is also a bocce court adjacent to the terrace. You are welcome to play during your stay.

Guest access
The access to the property is via a shared driveway. The apartment has a dedicated parking area for up to two vehicles, opposite our parking area.

There is a ground-level terrace overlooking the water with a SoloStove designated to your private use. From there the apartment is accessed via a two-story exterior spiral staircase and one-flight of interior stairs. The stairs are on the steeper side and can be challenging to navigate with large pieces of luggage.

The climb pays off with refreshing ocean breezes and spectacular views of the adjacent salt pond and Misquamicut Beach in the distance!

Other things to note
Beach Access
Our property is a 10-15 minute walk to the oceanfront. There are a number of private and public beaches in the area and we do provide a parking pass for one vehicle to Dunes Park private beach (during the summer season), a few minutes drive from the apartment.
