Away from the city lights, yet just a few miles from downtown Grass Valley and Downtown Nevada City is the Bear Den BnB. We are nestled in a wooded three acre parcel. Our BnB is right in the heart of the Gold Country with many Historic places to visit. Snow skiing resorts are just an hour away. There are many lakes where you can enjoy water sports and hiking. You will find a book in your room that has listed many hiking trails complete with trailhead, mileage elevation and points of interest. If you are into wine tasting there are lots of wineries to explore.
The room is decorated in Black Bear upscale décor with private entrance. You will enjoy a private bathroom, microwave, refrigerator, free Wi-Fi, internet TV, coffee, tea, hot coco or cappuccino in the room. The room has a new queen sized bed, vanity with bench, rocker recliner, full length mirror, ceiling fan, heating /air conditioning and private access to our sunroom with pool table.
Also to anyone who has cell phones, pads/tablets and PCs, are you always searching for an outlet to plug your devices into for charging. The three end tables in the Bear Den each have a charging station with two 110 volt outlets and two USB ports. That provides you with a total of six 110 volt outlets and six USB ports! No scrounging around on your knees looking for a place to plug into— it’s all right there and easily accessible.
Outside amenities included are: Bar-B-Q with burner, sink, fireplace, eating area, Koi pond and hot tub. Also included in your stay is a Continental Breakfast with a variety of foods to choose from. Breakfast will be served at the time that you request (between 7 & 9 AM).
Safety is very important to us, so to ensure your safety while you’re here, there is a Carbon Monoxide alarm, smoke detector, fire extinguisher, emergency light and first aid kit all located in the room. We are also sticklers for cleanliness! Fresh sheets and towels are provided for each new guest. Additional linens are always available on request.

The house is on a well with 2 types of water filters which makes it good for drinking. The cabin is on a septic system, so we ask guest not to flush anything but TP down the toilet.

Welcome to the Rutherford In-law Suite! A private, keyless entry 2-bedroom 1-bath suite located as a separate part of a main dwelling where my husband and I live part-time. The quiet, cozy, yet spacious, suite features complete privacy to a large main bedroom with living area, an additional separate bedroom, 1 bathroom, and kitchenette. Perfect for business travelers, small families, couples, and groups of friends traveling for fun and/or business.

The space
The guesthouse is separated from the main house by a soundproof door and will remain locked for your privacy and ours. My husband and I only live here part-time so it is best if you reach us via the app. We will try and respond as quickly as possible. If there is anything you need to make your stay more enjoyable, feel free to ask!

The unit is self-check-in and the door code will be provided prior to your check-in time.

There is free wifi and the information will be provided. The main living area has a smart TV for your convenience. You're welcome to cast to the TV or log in to your streaming accounts. If you forget to logout, we will do so for you after your stay.

The main bedroom has a pullout couch for your convenience. Extra sheets, blankets, and pillows are located in the closet.

The kitchenette is fully stocked with anything you might need for a short stay and includes a refrigerator/freezer, air fryer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, cups, mugs, and utensils. We provide coffee, tea, and water bottles for our guests.

The space
The apartment is located above the garage and is fully equipped with full kitchen, living room-great room, Roku TV/WiFi, desk, dining table, separate large bedroom with King Bed, and full bath with tub. EV charging station for your electric vehicle needs to be arranged but is available at request.

The 100-year-old estate is one of the first homes in Old Fig Garden, and was designed by Mr. Woodward, the patron of Woodward Park. Allegedly boasting a dancehall, the estate is rumored to have been a speakeasy in the roaring 20's. The apartment is a respite after a trip to Yosemite. It is ideal for the business traveler. It has a large bedroom, bath, open kitchen, living and dining room. It is quiet and private. The yard is shared with the owners and their lovable Bernese Mountain Dog, and an additional cottage in the back of the yard.

Here, you will be surrounded by nature in the middle of the City. If you can pull yourself away, head to Gazebo Garden for live music, food trucks and craft beer, or head to Fig Garden Village for food and fun. The laundry room is shared and is located in a private room below the apartment.

More…The beautiful pool and open airy 1-acre grounds allow you to stroll or tuck away in a private park with fern gardens, fruit and citrus trees, 100-yr old sequoias, and towering elms allow a cool evening breeze. Where true heritage roses and interesting flora and fauna have you Googling for species and so much more. Why not cool off in the beautiful 1920s Hearst Castle-esc pool - or dine al fresco under the stars - be sure to listen for our “homeboy”, Mr. Owl who hoots from his home in the elm trees hoping for his mate to come. Guests may access the apartment and the yard behind it. Upon request - a load or two of laundry may be shared with the owners in a separate unit easily accessible below the apartment. Also, we have an EV Charger for your electric vehicle. But this must be arranged so we car park you near the spot.

Finally guests should know there’s a separate cottage in the back and the bathroom in the pool house is reserved for that unit.

Other things to note
We have a friendly Bernese Mountain Dog that likes to roam around the yard at various times of the day. We will ask that you make sure to close the gates when coming and going.

The space
The charming ground floor bunkhouse is located inside the barn and is yours to enjoy in privacy. Guests will sleep well in an extremely comfy queen bed with pillow top. If you are totin’ a kiddo along, a pack ‘n play or cot is available upon request.

Guests can wind down while channel surfing the numerous options that DirecTV has to offer. Enjoy outdoor dining with a Traeger grill, table and chairs which are adjacent to your space.

The bunkhouse is equipped with a microwave and refrigerator along with plates, bowls, cups, and utensils.

Guests are encouraged to enjoy the sitting area or play a variety of games inside the barn. While relaxing in this space, there is a small space heater during the chill of winter and a portable fan to circulate the warm air of summer. Otherwise, the barn is not climate controlled.

* One dog is welcome only with prior approval. We will request a $25 non-refundable pet fee which must be paid prior to check-in. Guest must also agree to our pet policy which will be provided upon approval of breed.

* There is plenty of room to securely park a large truck, RV, boat, or trailer on the property during your stay with us.

* Ideal location for traveling nurses. Retreat to the bunkhouse for lots of good sleep and relaxation! We are located within 20-25 miles from Bakersfield and Delano hospitals.

We welcome guests to a make their way to the deck located in front of the house to experience our beautiful sunsets.

- Remember, while there is cell service, we do not offer WiFi. Hopefully, you enjoy your stay "unplugged" and we promise you’ll find a better connection here!

- Please note that our property is regularly treated for pests. However, understand due to the rural setting of the bunkhouse, insects and small critters may make their way in despite our efforts. We apologize for this and will attempt to provide the most bug/critter free stay possible. We do not provide refunds for bug or critter-related issues, as we will take prompt action to address any such concerns.

- Two adorable small dogs call this place home. They like to chase the cows so it is important that we keep them in the fenced yard. Speaking of cows, feel free to watch them from behind the fence. Since they are unpredictable animals we cannot allow guests to wander into the fields. A

- We encourage our guests to enjoy our property and the wild life here. For your safety never attempt to catch, pet, or feed any of the livestock, critters, or varmints that you may encounter during your stay with us. Please understand, we are surrounded by open fields. You might see or encounter wildlife while in our home or neighborhood, including, but not limited to: skunk, squirrels, rabbits, coyotes, birds, snakes, beetles, bees, mosquitoes, spiders, ants. These creatures reside in nature and we have no control over them. Please keep the door to the bunkhouse closed. The longer the door is open, the more chances that bugs/flies will get inside. We cannot control mother nature and therefore do not refund if you encounter her business during your stay.

- Just a reminder that the closest grocery store is approximately 15 miles from the bunkhouse so you may want to stop on your way. We provide a hearty bowl of delicious homemade muesli for each guest to enjoy on your first morning with us.

- Our gardener is on site once a week to mow the lawn and provide yard maintenance, generally on a Monday morning for approximately 1/2 hour. In the summer months, he may arrive as early as 7:00 to beat the heat.

-Guests are strongly urged to purchase trip insurance to cover for losses against unforeseeable events such as death in the family, inability to travel because of illness, weather-related incidents, among other things. Refund for a guest's inability to fulfill the reservation will only be issued in accord with the cancellation policy in effect at the time of booking.

The Garden Cottage is a small private guest studio, in the garden, behind a larger vacation home on the River Song Estate. No swimming access. Best for guests planning to dine out & explore SNP. Featuring a soft king bed, bathroom, small table w/chairs and coffee shelf with Keurig, microwave and mini fridge. This one acre property located on the main fork of the Kaweah River, was historically home to the Yokut. The estate features a stargazing deck and seating areas with river views.

The space
Great WiFi! The River Song Estate is one acre of river front property just 2 miles from the Ash Mountain Entrance of the Sequoia National Park. The property has five vacation homes situated for privacy. The homes can be reserved for family reunions or individually. The Garden Cottage guest studio is a detached cottage with a private bbq area and sitting areas. Garden Cottage also features a luxurious king bed, coffee, mini fridge & microwave, and bathroom. There are also a number of common seating areas, to relax, watch river rafters or evening stargaze to dark skies. You are surrounded by Nature, yet close to the Sequoia National Park entrance and two popular restaurants.

The Garden Cottage is private, cozy, small with outdoor spaces and offers big value. Perfect for singles and a romantic couples nature & river retreat. No swimming access due to rapids danger. Please note, there is no kitchen at the studio, and it is not equipped for cooking.

The Village Market is the local grocery store in Three Rivers. The Village Market has a large selection of groceries, and fairly limited produce. Larger super markets are in Exeter and Visalia, about 30 minutes from Three Rivers.

Please print or screenshot your directions and door code to bring with you. This insures you will not have unnecessary delays with entry, in case you loose cell service in the hills.

We have two cell towers in Three Rivers, AT&T and Verizon. Verizon is a limited signal and AT&T has decent signal most areas. In The National Parks area there is no cell reception. We suggest guests who need voice
option, who do not have AT&T, bring prepaid AT&T phones for roadside and medical emergencies

The space
When you arrive at our gate, you may think that you are lost - we are at the end of a country road just down from a couple of commercial nurseries and it doesn't look like there should be a home here. Don't worry! The gate at the street is a bit away from our home. Once we are notified of your arrival time, we will meet you at the gate to escort you to the guest house via a dirt road through a eucalyptus forest. We will provide you with a gate opener so you have easy access thereafter. Our home and guest house are situated on 9 acres, directly behind an organic nursery that supplies central coast farmers and we also are adjacent to a golf course community. We sometimes hear ATVs on nearby Pismo Dunes and sometimes hear the sounds of the nursery workers. Otherwise, it is a quiet, peaceful haven we enjoy. The rooms are located in a guesthouse separate from the main home. Privacy and space - perfect for a family of 4 (PLEASE NOTE - No children under age 12) or two couples on a weekend getaway.
The main guest bathroom has a huge soaking tub with hand shower and the second bathroom with shower is located below the bedrooms next to the pool and sauna. A cheery kitchenette with refrigerator(no freezer), dishwasher and microwave and a dining area complete the guest house. *** Please note -- the listed appliances complete the kitchenette, no stove or oven.***Each bedroom is equipped with a wood burning fireplace and cozy terry robes. Wireless WIFI is available and a Bose wireless speaker is provided for music lovers.
We are convenient to many wineries in Arroyo Grande (Laetitia is only 2 miles away!), Edna Valley and Paso Robles. You can drive your car or ATV on the beach in Pismo, kayak, sail or relax on the sand in Avila, or enjoy farm to table meals at many fine restaurants. San Luis Obispo County is home to so many different events - from vineyard parties, farmers markets, local music and food festivals and so much more. You will never be bored!
You are welcome to use all of our entertaining area. We have a state of the art bbq center, large redwood slab bar area, and a fire pit.

Guest access
You will have full use of the entire guesthouse and can enjoy the firepit, bbq, sauna, jacuzzi and pool. Please note the pool is heated only during the months of May through September. We live in the main home. We do love visiting and talking with guests, so please feel free to knock on the door or sit with us at the fire pit or bbq center.

Other things to note
The nursery uses lamps at night to speed growth but they cannot be seen from your bedroom. Additionally, during cold winter nights, sometimes the nursery uses large fans to protect their seedlings. You will hear them arriving and departing - they can be loud. But we have never had anyone complain about hearing them inside the guesthouse.
