The space
Although charming, our 1929 suite is a cozy space of 100 square feet. Movement within the suite is limited, especially in the bathroom. Please plan accordingly.

The entire property is non-smoking. There are two units on site, therefore you may encounter others and other pets. A fence keeps the dog in the home separate from the dogs visiting the suite. The front doors to the cottage and suite are approximately ten feet apart.

- Strip the bed and collect used towels. There are two flat bins under the bed. Place towels in one and bedding in the other.
- There is a small tray on top of microwave. Place used dishes in there, including dog bowls. Please remove trash to bins outside.
- Turn off the fan, lights, heaters, fireplace, etc.


BUGS/HIKING/TRAILS
Cambria is a woodsy, small town in the forest as well as near beaches. Wildlife, bugs, spiders, etc. may be present. We take every precaution with cleaning and pest control, however, they occasionally manage to sneak in. If you venture out onto the trails, checking for ticks before you return is recommended. Please do not get the wrong impression of our property or Cambria, but we just want to be sure you are aware.

The suite is a detached unit from the cottage, so you have complete privacy. There are a couple of chairs just outside the door if you care to be outdoors.

The front door has a keypad lock. The code will be provided the day or your arrival.

Other things to note
There is also a cottage on the property. Therefore, you may encounter other guests and pets during your stay. The two units are detached, so all guests have complete privacy.

The space
The guesthouse is perfectly setup for your coastal adventures. It is located in the very quiet and scenic Lodge Hill neighborhood, a short walk from breathtaking ocean views and neighborhood beach access. There are so many things to do nearby: antiquing in charming downtown Cambria, walk the Moonstone beach boardwalk, go wine tasting at local wineries, visit Hearst Castle, and view the elephant seals.

The open living room is warm and inviting with a cozy gas fireplace, queen size sleeper sofa, and two chairs, creating the perfect atmosphere for unwinding. Adjacent to the living room, is a convenient kitchenette equipped with all the essentials to effortlessly prepare and enjoy meals. From a mini fridge and microwave to a coffeemaker, electric kettle, hot plate, toaster-oven, crockpot, and a complete set of dishes and utensils.

Off of the living room is the comfortable bedroom, featuring a new king-size bed and built-in cabinets, offering ample storage space for your belongings. The attached full bathroom includes an on-demand water heater and a towel warmer bar.

This quiet guest house provides the perfect coastal escape, allowing you to relax and unwind.

You’ll have the entire detached guest house to yourself. The main house may be occupied during your stay. The driveway and patio are the only shared spaces.

Other things to note
Minimum rental of 30 nights. You do not need to occupy the property for the full time. Increase your stay to 31 nights or more to remove the short term rental taxes.

We do not have air conditioning as it is never warm enough to need it at the beach. Open the windows and enjoy the fresh ocean air.

Please bring your own beach supplies. We have provided towels and bedding for your use in the guest house. Please do not take towels from the house to the beach.

AT&T does not have reliable reception in Cambria. We have WiFi that supports WiFi calling at the house.

The Master Bedroom faces west and offers a king-sized pillowtop mattress that you'll love to sink into, which is adorned with high thread-count sheets, and down comforters. This bedroom is located on the upper level, adjacent to the main living quarters. The master bath is original to the house; although not yet updated, it offers a large walk-in shower with grab bars and built-in bench.

The Master Bedroom offers a TV and a small deck facing west.

Guests are welcome to share the main living spaces with your host.

Due to drought conditions, linens are not changed during your stay, and laundry access is not provided.

During your stay
In the morning, coffee and a variety of organic (and other) teas are provided, along with gourmet breakfast options that are beautifully prepared with your dietary preferences in mind. Vegan, gluten-free, allergies, or paleo? I can accommodate.

Eggs are from organic and free-range chickens. I try to purchase organic fruits and vegetables when possible, but at the very least, I look for chemical free and non-GMO produce and packaged products.

Other things to note
Hearst Castle is only 6 miles north of Cambria and offers tours daily. Just north of San Simeon, you can view the elephant seals that migrate here. You can also see the herd of zebras that reside on the grounds of Hearst Castle. (I still scream like a child every time I see them.)

If you're into wine tasting, you can do some tasting right in town, or drive east 20 minutes to experience some of the best wines on the central coast.

Cambria has many wonderful restaurants, two live theater venues, pickleball and tennis courts, hiking trails, and live music on weekends.

A drive up or down Hwy 1 offers state parks, beaches, and national forests where you can enjoy hiking and sightseeing.

Cute Garden Cottage in Cambria, 1/2 block away from Main Street and all the great shops and restaurants in Cambria's East Village. Plenty of parking, easy walking distance to town, 1.5 miles from the beach.

The cottage has a private enclosed yard and is not attached to another building - great for pets and relaxing - with picnic table & umbrella and propane fire ring and shared BBQ. Great for kids, 2 and older. The sleeping loft is suitable for very small and mobile adults, or kids 7+.

The space
Cute little pet friendly cottage, with private yard, next to the former Bridge Street Inn.

What we have: well stocked kitchen with 2 induction burners, medium fridge, electric toaster oven, toaster, blender & coffee maker. Mini-split a/c and heater unit. Wifi Service. There is a sandy area outside of the private yard with a BBQ that is wonderful for kids, and a lot warmer than the real beach.

Don't have: TV.

We assume most folks bring their own devices and if you are into big screen entertainment, this eclectic cottage in Cambria may not be the place for you.

Other things to note
This is a small space - not for those with mobility challenges. The entry is a gravel walkway and there are stairs, about 5 steps to enter the main space, and two steps between living room and kitchen levels. While our yard and garden are wonderful for kids of all ages, we recommend that children be over the age of 2 for safety. Also, there is a loft area and children may not use the loft unattended - and must be at least 7 to sleep safely in the loft. Pets are welcome - best if they are friendly with other guests nearby, though in this
mostly but not thoroughly enclosed area space, they have more space to roam. * Note, while the yard is mostly enclosed, it is not fully enclosed, so it's not well suited for escape artist pets, always eager to find a way out.

The Gothic Room is a private upstairs bedroom with private full bath and, queen-size bed. Wood floors throughout with tall, original windows and great light. Very peaceful and beautiful room with your own gas-burning fireplace. Not suitable for children.

The Loft Suite has a small open area above the wall to the common area below. The room is the entire length of the top area of the Black Barn.

The Carriage House is an original building of an older estate, constructed circa 1930.  Originally, it was used as a carriage house and stable.  After the era of the horse and carriage had passed, it was retrofitted into a guest house.  This little cottage is a favorite amongst our guests.  

The space
Private and cozy, this unit gives you room to relax in the middle of a busy lifestyle.  The main room is a studio, with a king sized bed, dresser, and a seating area.  The loft has two built in twin beds.  It also comes equipped with a cozy little kitchen and a bathroom with a large shower.  A furnace was recently installed to make your stay even more comfortable, especially during the winter months.

We are in a quiet residential neighborhood on a hill in the middle of the town, creating a nice retreat but still a short 5 minute drive to shopping, hiking trails, and the beach. The Carriage House has a private, gated drive. The property backs up to a forested ranch, which often has all kinds of wildlife traipsing by.

We ask our guests to honor the community and space by following our house rules:
* No flame of any kind, including candles or BBQ.
* Due to the age of the home, this space is not suitable for children under the age of 6.
* NO SMOKING or drug use of any kind, including vaping, and no illegal activity.
* No pets, including emotional support animals. We do allow registered service dogs, but only with prior notice and documentation. (Pets will be considered for rentals over 30 days).
* Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
* Please conserve water as much as possible.
* No EV charging (there is a free charging station in town).
* For rentals that are over 30 days: if the owners approve a pet, tenants are expected to clean up any waste and dispose of it in the outdoor trash receptacle. All food is to be kept in a sealed container, such as a plastic tub with a lid. Food is not to be left out. Tenants resume 100% responsibility for the safety of their pet, as we live next to a wooded area with many different kinds of wildlife nearby.

We do live on the property and are available should any needs arise. We would love to host you in our beautiful little corner of Cambria!

This property is a licensed vacation rental through San Luis Obispo county. Our TOT (Transiency Occupancy Tax) number is available upon request.

Guest access
The Carriage House has a private driveway and entrance separate from the main house, along with a natural yard dotted with oak trees. You will have access to a large, private patio in the back yard.

Other things to note
Check in time is 4:00 PM and check out time is 11:00 AM. We are happy to accommodate early check ins and/or late check outs provided that there are no scheduling conflicts.
