The space

Apartment is upstairs. There is a kitchenette including stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee maker and electric tea kettle. Spacious bedroom with comfortable queen bed. Have your morning coffee or tea sitting outside on the deck enjoying the view of Fiscallini Ranch Preserve, Monterey Pine forest and the ocean in the distance. If you're lucky you may see deer and wild turkeys in the yard.

Other things to note

In order to walk to East or West Village for shopping and dining you will be required to walk downhill on Pine Knolls Drive to Main Street and then back uphill to the apartment. It is about a 5 minute walk to Main Street.

The Yard:
currently a work in progress, the yard is fenced and shared with the cottage. It is good for your pets do their business but I do not recommend for serious play. There is a nearby dog park and a couple beaches that are great to get the zoomies out.

The Studio Location:
1.5 miles to beach by highway 1
10 minutes to San Simeon
30 minutes to Paso Robles (along the highway 46 wine trail)
20 minutes to Morro Bay and Cayucos
40 minutes to San Luis Obispo
40 minutes to Ragged Point (gateway to Big Sur)

Unfortunately (and I stress this) I cannot recommend the property for people those who require a larger space for movement or who may have difficulty due to height.

Please note we require a specific covid checkout. This includes stripping the bed and removing your trash. If you are unable to complete these duties, please do not book.

THINGS TO NOTE:
VRBO is NOT the same as a hotel. You will be staying as our guest in a personal space we love, and love to share. Each host has different rules and check outs. Please consider this and the details provided before booking this listing. Host may not be available for immediate requests as I work full time.

•The Suite and Cottage share a front deck. You may hear the guests in the cottage from time to time. Similar to an apartment.

• Please do not arrive to the property early

•Pets: at this time, we only allow dogs. 2 under 25lbs or 1 dog under 50lbs due to the size of the space. Thank you in advance for understanding. Please be sure your dogs have flea and tick protection. Cambria has ticks.....everywhere.

•The Suite GETS HOT on sunnier days between 12 and 5pm. We provide a small, portable AC to cool down the room (seasonally from May to early Fall) but it's not meant for continuous use while you are out of the room. If it's above 70 and sunny outside, it's gonna be hot inside. We also recommend keeping the door open if you arrive and the room is stuffy. It generally cools down pretty fast. I do not recommend leaving your pets behind during the warmer days.

• In the winter months, THE SUITE WILL GET COLD. We provide a space heater, extra blanket, and the fireplace to help keep you warm. I recommend slippers and warm PJs for the winter.

•BATHROOM: a small space that may take more care to navigate the entrance if you are above 5’11” or require a bit more space to maneuver. The space for the toilet is also about 2 ft wide(PLEASE SEE PHOTO) so please be advised. If you require a larger space for movement, the suite would not be a good fit (I recommend checking out our cottage which can be found in my profile)

BUGS/WILDLIFE:
Please be aware that though Cambria has modern conveniences, it is still a small town in the forest along a creek and is home to wild animals, bugs, and spiders. Animals like deer, turkey, bobcats, racoons, skunks, and coyotes often make appearances in the area and neighborhood. Please be extra cautious letting your pets out at night!!
If you do happen to find an extra insect guest in the suite, we hope you understand that it doesn't mean that we did not clean, it just means they managed to find their way in as bugs often do. If you venture the trails, please CHECK FOR TICKS before you return to the suite.

• Parking is limited to one vehicle. We do not allow RVs or Trailers.

It is especially interesting. Look for the Hearst zebras just before the castle entrance. The entire unit is on one level with 2 stair steps at the entrance door. The patio is completely fenced for privacy. The only thing shared is the driveway but Pine Needle Place guests have a dedicated parking space which is clearly marked. There are no shared spaces. The apartment is attached to the main house but you won't be able to tell once you're inside. It is located on Park Hill, one half mile from Shamel Park and Moonstone beach. It has a refrigerator, 2 burner electric hot plate, large toaster oven, microwave, parking for 1 car in front of house. You will need to walk down 18 steps to get to the studio. Sit & enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine in lovely outdoor space with a peaceful view.

The space
You will have full and private use of downstairs studio apartment which has its own private entrance and outdoor space. Two twin beds can be pulled apart to make 2 twins or pushed together to make a king size bed. Let me know your preference. The couch pulls out to make a double size bed. There is a 52 inch smart TV. Kitchenette with cooking and eating supply’s provided. You can enjoy a green and lovely view out the windows, on deck or in the outdoor space with table and chairs. You can watch many wild birds including abundance of woodpeckers, wild turkeys and on occasion deers.

Besides your private studio apartment and outdoor space, you can use the upstairs table and patio space and BBQ in front of house. Once I get to meet you and give instructions I have a washer and dryer up in the main house I would be willing to let you use when we are not in town if needed.

Other things to note
My husband and I are both retired. Our primary home and family are in the Fresno area. We enjoy Cambria part time, love taking walks and biking on the many beautiful trails and beach near our house. We also love to play Pickleball in Cambria’s fantastic Pickleball courts.

I will supply starter amount of toilet paper, paper towels, etc for at least 2 weeks, depending on how fast you use them. Once gone, you will need to restock at own cost for the remainder of your stay. There is also vacuum and cleaning supplies.

Keep it simple at this peaceful and centrally-located place, 1/2 block from Main Street in Cambria's East Village. This listing is when we have space open in one of our larger apartments, but want to keep the price and cleaning fees low for 2 people sharing a queen bed, in one bedroom. It is private - not shared!

When we have a larger apartment available at close in, I offer a lower cost rate and lower cleaning fee for 1 or 2 people who will use just a single room of the larger apartment.

A craftsman style studio with a private deck that looks over the garden. Minutes from Moonstone Beach, downtown Cambria, and Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. 10 minutes south of Hearst castle. Located in a quiet forested neighborhood. Quiet, serene, and spacious, feels like a cabin in the woods.

The space
This is a spacious craftsman style studio that is attached to my home. It has a private entrance, bathroom, and deck. Located in a quiet, forested neighborhood. Hardwood floors, vaulted ceiling, stone shower, wood cabinetry, serene simple decor, and picture windows looking out to the garden give a feeling of rustic luxury.

The room has a California king size bed with a Tempurpedic mattress. It has a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and electric kettle. I provide filtered water, coffee, half and half, hot chocolate, and tea.

You can walk to the West Village of Cambria or the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve in 15 minutes. Moonstone Beach and downtown Cambria are accessible within minutes by car. Hearst Castle is 10 minutes north, wine country is 30 minutes east, and the Big Sur highway begins approximately 30 minutes north.

***I work 40 minutes away from Cambria and often leave early and arrive home late. I am not always able to greet guests when they arrive. Please make sure you are comfortable with this arrangement before making a reservation.

There are no shared spaces. The studio is attached to my house and there is a hallway door that leads into my house. That door remains locked and is blocked by sound proofing panels. Guests have a private entrance, deck, and bathroom.

Other things to note
The studio has a micro kitchen, or kitchenette, that is best suited for heating food or making simple meals or snacks. It is not suitable for real cooking. The counter space is very small with a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle, plates, bowls, utensils, cups, glasses, and wine glasses. I also provide filtered water, coffee, cream, and tea.

The space
This listing is a 3-bedroom apartment at the Bridge St. Inn, a former church parsonage constructed in 1891. This apartment is private - only the outside garden is shared, including the sandy area, patio and BBQ in the front of the house.

The kitchenette is simple and has everything you'll need for basic cooking (induction cooktop burners, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, double sink and large fridge) but there is no oven or dishwasher; cozy rooms are small; and apartment does have shared walls with an adjacent studio.

The space is an ideal base for adventurous guests looking to explore the local area, work quietly in a simple space, and connect with neighbors over
coffee, BBQ, a new gas firepit or wine in the garden.

It is not a best bet for visitors looking for large open rooms, guests who plan to bake on their vacation or those extra special romantic getaways....

 We believe in simplicity, sustainability and repurposing, so everything is imperfect and “kinda funky” in this old home. This means linens are line dried when there’s sun, kids and dogs are welcomed, packaging is minimized and you can expect a few characterful scuffs around.
 Stairs in the old house are steep, with all bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs, so this space is not recommended for those with impaired mobility.
 If you are interested in a family reunion or retreat getaway with additional people, we may have separate studios available, with additional gathering and cooking space. Please inquire.
 Our Central Coast weather tends to be cool—even in summer, and our old house is not well insulated; there is no central heating, though space heaters are in each room. Please bring warm clothes, lots of layers (including gloves, heats and scarves) and expect to bundle up - especially for beach walks.

Private and spacious, Pine Needle Place is the ideal place to relax and unplug. Enjoy complimentary beverage and snacks at check-in. Although there is plenty of Internet, it can be spotty at times throughout the entire neighborhood because of the towering pine trees, so Pine Needle Place would not be ideal for work vacations or social media enthusiasts. The rooms are filled with natural light thanks to skylights and large windows. Views of the forest can be seen from the bedroom, kitchen window and patio.

Get cozy by the electric fireplace by closing the bedroom's solid oak doors. You're sure to enjoy the comfortable king bed. Everything you need is there; a nightstand, TV, dresser, a cozy reading chair and large closet with two luggage racks, a yoga mat, shelving for storage and additional linens.

Pine Needle Place is all about luxury & proximity to town, beach, hiking & more. Acres separate neighbors here (except one). Be on the lookout for deer and wild turkeys, they seem to be a daily sighting in our neighborhood. For those who need to get a cardio workout, a 28 minute scenic, safe, neighborhood walk (mostly downhill), will take you to downtown Cambria where you will find charming family owned and operated shops, art galleries, a nice variety of restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries. By car you will be there in 5 minutes!

Cambria is a place for deep sleep, rejuvenation, discovery and adventure. Nature is at your doorstep everywhere you look, but especially at Pine Needle Place with towering pine trees and the sounds of birds in the morning and the frogs at night (depending on the season). It is just a few blocks above Moonstone beach, and just minutes by car from numerous hiking trails in San Simeon, Ragged Point, Big Sur, and all along the Pacific Ocean. Although there is plenty of Internet, it can be spotty at times throughout the entire neighborhood because of the towering pine trees.

We love our family owned and operated Lily's Coffee House for delicious breakfast, sandwiches and in-house, daily-baked scones and goodies. For late afternoon treats try Madeline's Wine Bar located on Moonstone Drive and hopefully you will catch a spectacular sunset as you overlook the ocean. If you are here on a Friday afternoon, check out our Farmer's Market which features BBQ food, specialty soups, farm-fresh produce, hot corn-on-the cob and more.

A leisurely walk awaits you just a few blocks from from downtown where you will find stunning ocean views along Moonstone Beach Drive.

About another 1/2 mile in a westerly direction you will find our not-to-be-missed Fiscalini Ranch with extraordinary ocean views, wildlife viewing and easy, well maintained public trails.

Don't forget that a tour at Hearst Castle is especially interesting. Look for the Hearst zebras just before the castle entrance.

Pine Needle Place's easy access to the freeway makes it an ideal location for those who love city life but enjoy escaping to nature.

From the street, one can only see the top two floors of our three-story house. The top two floors is our primary residence, and the separate and private bottom floor is your 700 square feet, licensed guest apartment.

From your large gravel parking area, you can access your guest apartment via a private path along the side of the house toward the backyard.

The backyard garden is a shared space.

Cambria’s climate is pretty moderate all year round (50’s - 70’s); slightly warmer in the summer, and cooler in the winter. Hence, 99% of homes in Cambria do not have air conditioning. Nevertheless, if you like to have more air movement, you have options: open screened windows, open front door and use door screen, turn on the living room ceiling fan, or use the bedroom dresser fan.

We have a whole-home water filtration system, which means every indoor water source has been filtered (sink faucets, showers, etc), but the water will not have that “slick/slippery” feeling. Enjoy with peace of mind.

We also have a tankless water heater, so we will never run out of hot water; although it may still take a little time for the shower water to heat up. Cambria always practices water conservation, so we thank you in advance for keeping showers short.

Lastly, please note we don’t have Cable TV. We do offer a smart-RokuTV with access to 1000’s of streaming services (e.g., Netflix, Hulu, Paramount+, etc). You will need to sign into each service with your own account. The TV will automatically reset at 11am on your checkout date (I.e., it will uninstall any apps you added and sign you out of everything).

These newly renovated rooms make for the perfect relaxing getaway. All rooms have been appointed with furnishings and amenities with guests needs in mind. The Inn is within walking distance to the downtown Cambria where all of the shops and restaurants are located. We are an Inn offering rooms on AirBnB.
