A second window seat offers equally tranquil views. WiFi ready, and no TV. Just off the living room and down three steps brings you to a cozy sleeping nook with a firm standard size DOUBLE bed with a skylight, stain glass windows and French door to a small garden deck. You’ll find everything you need in the bright terracotta tiled kitchen and wood/tiled floor bathroom with standard-size shower stall. Premium towels and bathrobes provided. Steps away from the cottage is the large garden deck where you can enjoy the private peaceful canyon, wildlife, and distant ocean. The deck is the perfect place for morning yoga, an afternoon glass of wine, and an evening canyon sunset.

We live on the property and enjoy sharing our hillside with mature, respectful adults who are looking for a quality experience in peaceful surroundings. If you plan on entertaining, enjoy loud music into the night or smoke, this is not the vacation rental to choose.

Maximum 2 adults (minimum age 25), pet-free environment, no smoking (inside or out), two night minimum, three night minimum during holidays (New Years, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas). 3pm check-in, 11 am check-out. 5 days or less: $60 cleaning fee, 5 days is maximum stay permitted. County 12% occupancy tax applied.

Bookings canceled at least 30 days before the start of the stay will receive a 100% refund.
Bookings canceled at least 14 days before the start of the stay will receive a 50% refund. No refund for early departure, inclement weather or anything outside our control.

This early 1900's cottage has been tenderly and tastefully restored creating a private and captivating retreat for you and your loved one. You'll sense the effort to anticipate your requirements for a memorable and replenishing stay, including a bottle of wine and chocolate inviting a toast to 'your' stay.

Entering the upper level from the front deck, you are greeted by the bright, cheery dinette, efficient kitchen, and only bathroom, with it's built in cast iron bathtub. The large west side deck expands upstairs relaxation options. Downstairs enjoy the living room view of the garden, cozy Vermont Castings fireplace, a full compliment of TV viewing options, and comfortable seating. master bedroom, small second twin bed bedroom, and laundry are also downstairs. access to the garden is from living room.

Front and rear decks surrounded by ancient oaks and pine, plus a charming flower garden, enhance the ambiance of this very private cottage.

The crisp ocean air will greet you morning and evening. All your senses will be heightened as you listen to the distant bark of seals and crashing waves. Deer walk through your front yard along with racoons, squirrel, wild turkey, and the ever darling covey of quail. A myriad birds alone provide hours of entertainment.

Enjoy the king size bed, and cozy gas fireplace after a day of exploring.

Walk night or day to the ocean and hunt for wildlife in the tide pools where you can sit and watch the otters, humpback whales, and dolphins (seasonal). Bring your comfy shoes - it is uphill on the way back but it's worth it!

If you must work we have hi speed internet and telephone.

The cable TV offers nearly all the premium channels and we stock the cottage with everything you'll need. If you forget something, the quaint village of Cambria is just a 5 minute drive.

One note for our tall guests. This cottage was built around 1907 and some tall guests (over 6'1) may have to duck through doorways. For the comfort of all our guests there is no smoking in or around the unit.

Our property includes a full-service Pilates and yoga studio. Rebecca (one of your hosts) is a nationally certified Pilates and yoga instructor. The studio has two reformers, a ballet barre, and yoga and Pilates props. Privates and semi-privates can be held in this beautiful space. Behind our studio is a lovely garden with a turf where we hold private and small group classes of up to 6 students. Please contact us to book any Pilates or yoga sessions during your stay.

The home is pet friendly (no cats, limited to one well-behaved dog only, no weight or breed restrictions) however, no pets are allowed on furnishings. The outdoor area is fenced, but it is very small and landscaped with drought-tolerant plants and decorative rocks. We ask our guests with pet companions to take their dogs outside the property on neighborhood walks or the nearby 400+ acre nature preserve for bathroom breaks.

Cambria is known for its cool climate and very few homes, like ours, have air-conditioning. However, there are ceiling fans in the living and bedroom areas. If we do experience warmer temps, opening the windows and running the fans will cool things down quickly and considerably.

The kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, small appliances, utensils, dishes, glasses, etc., however, we do not keep perishables items beyond a few host-selected rotating amenities provided as a courtesy.

The open living room is warm and inviting with a cozy gas fireplace, queen size sleeper sofa, and two chairs, creating the perfect atmosphere for unwinding. Adjacent to the living room, is a convenient kitchenette equipped with all the essentials to effortlessly prepare and enjoy meals. From a mini fridge and microwave to a coffeemaker, electric kettle, hot plate, toaster-oven, crockpot, and a complete set of dishes and utensils.

We know you will love are home as much as we do! Our house is a licensed vacation rental, in full compliance with area ordinances.

This single-story home with five stairs to the entrance offers comfort and charm from the moment you enter. It is just a two-minute walk down the street to the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve & bluff headland walking trails, where you can walk all the way to see the ocean along the Ranch trail. The most outstanding natural feature of the preserve is the dramatic ocean bluff that runs more than a mile along the shoreline that rests within the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary where in season you can view migrating whales, elephant seals and other ocean mammals. It is a short 1.5 mile drive to Cambria East Village, a .9 mile drive (or walk!) to the Harvey Street public beach access at Sherwood Avenue , and about 2.7 miles to the popular Shamel Park and Beach area.

This completely updated, single level home is beautiful. Bamboo-look flooring is accentuated by high baseboards, and custom painted walls are topped by crown molding. The kitchen and bathrooms have been updated, with granite counters in the former and slate and stone in the latter. You will find an open floor plan featuring a sun-filled living and dining area. Handcrafted woodwork can be seen on the artistic front door and guest bathroom mirror, and unique touches are visible throughout the entire house. Skylights and unusual light fixtures make even looking up enjoyable. New dual pane windows are covered by new plantation shutters. The backyard has a large deck, lots of beautiful vegetation, and a few rustic outbuildings. Enjoy a soak in the hot tub after days of combing the beach and hiking the trails and shopping downtown. Out front is a view of wooded, vacant lots and the wildlife that enjoys open space in Cambria. You will fall in love with this home!

Enjoy the Keurig, coffee maker, wonderful kitchen pots and pans and everything you could possibly need to cook and bake. Bring your own pods or ground coffee; coffee filters provided. The freezer has an ice maker and there is water in the refrigerator door.

There are games and puzzles and books. Our home also offers cable Wi-Fi if you have to bring your work with you or just want to stay connected. Cell service isn't great anywhere in Cambria, so we offer a house phone, as well. You can also connect to Wi-Fi on your phone and enable Wi-Fi calling so you don't miss any calls.

There are four Smart TVs in this house. There's one in the living room, and there is one in each bedroom. You can log into your own streaming accounts on any of the TVs to watch your favorite shows and movies! There is also a DVD/Blu-ray player in the living room; bring your favorites! There is comfortable seating for 6 people in the living room. There are two amazing recliners, and the two ends of the leather sofa recline! It's a perfect room for relaxing in after a wonderful day out and about.

Two of the bedrooms offer California king size beds. The 3rd bedroom has twin beds for flexibility in sleeping arrangements. All the beds & mattresses are new, very comfortable & have beautiful bedding designed for a peaceful sleeping experience. All three bedrooms have ceiling fans if you need to get those cool ocean breezes circulating. 99 plus percent of homes in this area don't have air conditioning (because our weather is so beautiful), so ceiling fans are an added bonus for when you want to get a little air moving!

Front entry area of the home has a wonderful porch from where you can watch the deer, squirrels, Blue Jays, redheaded woodpeckers, wild turkeys, and other wildlife in the vacant lots across the streets. There are five steps up to the single level home. We have bird feeders and squirrel feeders in the front and backyard, so bring some unsalted peanuts in the shell and or bird food to enjoy the beautiful birds and critters feeding! The front and back have pretty landscaping and have plenty of sweet places to sit & enjoy the landscaping or take in the sea air. Enjoy the 6-person HotSprings hot tub in the beautiful back yard and the outside dining table and chairs. The backyard is completely fenced in. There is also a "secret room" in the backyard with a gas stove fireplace. Enjoy a glass of wine by the fire outside in the cool evenings!

Our location is what excites our guests the most. We are literally within 175 steps of the Ridge Trail of the 437-acre Fiscalini Ranch Preserve with a network of 17 hiking trails with dramatic ocean bluffs along the shoreline of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. From our home, you can easily walk to the Ranch, the oceanfront and beach, Shamel Park, Main Street, and Moonstone Beach Drive.

Our property includes a full-service Pilates and yoga studio. Rebecca (one of your hosts) is a nationally certified Pilates and yoga instructor. The studio is equipped with two reformers, a ballet barre, and yoga and Pilates props. Privates and semi-privates can be held in this beautiful space. Behind our studio is a lovely garden with a turf where we hold private and small group classes of up to 6 students. Please reach out to us to book any Pilates or yoga sessions during your stay.

Cambria is known for its cool climate and very few homes, like ours, have air-conditioning. However, there are ceiling fans in the living and bedroom areas. If we do experience warmer temps, opening the windows and running the fans will cool things down quickly and considerably.

The kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, small appliances, utensils, dishes, glasses, etc., however, we do not keep perishables items beyond a few host-selected rotating amenities provided as a courtesy.

The home is pet friendly (one well-behaved dog only, no weight or breed restrictions) however, no pets are allowed on furnishings. The outdoor area is fenced, but it is very small and landscaped with drought-tolerant plants and decorative rocks. We ask our guests with pet companions to take their dogs outside the property on neighborhood walks or the nearby 400+ acre nature preserve for bathroom breaks.

The space

This cottage was built in 1957 and it is furnished with furniture from that period. Its footprint is 745 SqFt with a 100SqFt outdoor viewing deck. The cottage is small, but the floor to ceiling windows and vistas give it a "big" feeling. Due to its size, the property is ideal for traveling pairs, and very close families.

Whereas, in the past, people seemed to resonate with the vintage nature of the property, lately it seems like there are more folks traveling with unrelated groups, and not everyone reads the description before arrival, and a member of their party may take issue with something. For this reason, please ask every visitor traveling with you to read the entire description before booking.

If you seek to bring more than two people, please send an inquiry before booking, and don't use instant book so I can confirm that your entire group is OK with the nature of the cottage. All guests should read and acknowledge the listing description and Visitor's Guide.

If your occupancy level changes, please seek alternate housing for additional guests, and not plan on bringing more than the approved number of guests to the cottage.

There is a maximum two vehicle limit per stay, and this includes any visitors that may be helping you for a brief period. Due to the existence of a drainage ditch on one side of the property, and a narrow dirt road on the other side of the property, there is no room on the street to park. Parking is permitted on-site in the driveway or by the plum tree in the front ONLY.

For example, we recently had a wedding party with visitors during the day, and there were more than two vehicles, and we don't want this type of traffic at this small property to avoid being shut down by disrupting the peace in the quiet neighborhood. If you have more than two vehicles, please book a different property.

The site is a corner lot with good privacy offering a feeling of being up "high," and beautiful views of the mountains, sunsets, and wildlife may be viewed from the cottage. The yard is enclosed by a privacy hedge and wild deer and turkeys roam freely throughout it. The animals run pretty quickly when frightened, and this may also be unsettling for guests.

The floor plan includes a living room with views, a small galley kitchen, 2 bedrooms with views, 1 bathroom that opens to the master suite, and a dining room. There is no bathroom fan, because of the tall ceiling. Usually we leave the dining room doors open to ventilate the shower, which is why related groups feel most comfortable here.

The dining room table can be used as a workspace with very fast WIFI provided by Spectrum.

The grounds are not finished with walkways and plantings, and the yard is rustic. There are trip hazards from roots and slopes. Though this is a single level home, the distance from parking to the house is roughly 75 feet, and it is up a gentle slope.

Regarding Accessibility, there are photos under "Accessibility." There are three stairs to enter the home. The lighting at night is minimal. There is no hold bar in the shower, as it is small, and we installed non-slip tile on the shower bed. There is a step over a tiled surface with smooth tile to enter the shower.

There is no AC in this property, but a fan is available for use. Cross ventilate the home to cool it off quickly. There is a wall heater, a faux fireplace, and a small heater in the back bedroom.

Due to a water shortage, a clothes washer is not available for guest use. The Host will provide new linens and towels upon request.

Due to the high fire severity rating, outdoor cooking and smoking is not permitted.

Guests with respiratory disabilities, may reasonably assume that this property is free from animal allergens, which provides disability access for 10-20% of the population suffering from respiratory disabilities.

One infant under six months old is permitted in addition to the occupancy of 2 without permission or a fee. The cottage is a warm and romantic dwelling on a hillside above Moonstone Beach. Entire house on a large lot. The desirable Happy Hill neighborhood is nestled in a pine forest, quiet, spread out in a way not found on Lodge Hill or Park Hill. It is an easy walk to the beach or to West Village. (An uphill walk home. The price we pay for the ocean view.) Close to Hearst Castle/Gateway to Big Sur. Ideal for couples/close groups/close families. Not child safe ages from 6 months to 5 years.
