The luxury apartment designed in a modern, cozy (HYGGE) Danish design can very comfortably sleep 2 and can accommodate 4 with a second Murphy bed located in the main living area downstairs. It has a giant 80” TV for all your movie/sports watching - a great spacious, fully equipped kitchen and just a great vibe to the whole place - we hope you will love it as much as we do!
The apartment has many amenities that you will love - from a heated mattress pad in the king bed upstairs, to down pillows and comforters, deluxe coffee makers and coffee provided, bathroom amenities also provided such as shampoo and make-up mirror not to mention yummy soft towels! We try and make the apartment as comfy and cozy and provide as many little conveniences as we can to make your stay as care free and convenient as possible. We know you are on vacation and don’t want to worry about all those little luxuries that make things so much more enjoyable so we try to provide everything we can think you may need ....... if you have any special requests just ask and we will try our best to deliver if it is within our means. Beautiful views from the outside of the top of the towers outdoor patio area - stargazing over the town at night or people watching during the day is sure to be loved by all.

There is lovely morning sunlight in the kitchen (and blinds to block it if desired). Living Room: Cozy, warm and comfortable area. Very large screen TV for use, books and games. There is a large chest style Murphy Bed that we did not use. The open concept with the kitchen flows nicely. Also downstairs: Laundry room off kitchen with half bath. We did not do laundry but the area is modern and clean. Having a second bathroom is wonderful. Upstairs bedroom: Wow! Warm, cozy and luxurious!! LOTS of mirrored closet space. Extra pillows and blackets. Really great blanket on lounging chair that can be used downstairs for snuggling while watching TV. Bathroom: Two seperated vanities with sinks and lots of counter space. Plug in lighted make-up mirrror. Large shower with dual shower heads. This is a fab bathroom. Rooftop deck: A circular open metal staircase leads to thee rooftop deck with bartop table seating for morning coffee and evening drinks. The views from here are wonderful, mountain vistas as well as the the town and the windmill. Everything was lit up for Christmas and so festive looking. Our dog would not climb the stairs to the rooftop deck as much as we tried to encourage her. We ate breakfast two times at Brekkies. They have a great outdoor space (dogs allowed) and the best gluten free waffles I've ever had. We would recommend this property!!"

Feel free to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the estate by taking leisurely walks on the main road running through the property. We are in the country and there are bugs and wildlife. At night there is a chance of seeing a raccoon, skunk, deer, opossum, or coyote. They will very rarely approach or even come close. We are surrounded by working vineyards, and ranches, so you may see people on the ranches or in the vineyards throughout the day.

If you want to sleep in a bit, I suggest some type of covering. It is also within walking distance of everything in town. Overall, I would definitely stay again."

It was great for hanging out, and it also had two bedrooms with full baths, so we could have a little privacy too. The unit was very modern and clean but still felt very cozy. The patio area outside and parking was a great bonus as well. The unit is only a few minute walk from restaurants, wine tasting rooms and shopping. Newly remodeled, our one-bedroom loft offers clean modern living, with a touch of Danish charm. The bedroom features a queen tempurpedic bed with adjustable firmness for two, 300 thread count sheets and down bedding, all nestled in a cozy nook. Linens and towels are freshly laundered with detergent that is hypoallergenic and contains no dyes, phosphates, ultraviolet brighteners or perfumes. In the bathroom, a unique vintage glass block window allows the light to come in while preserving your privacy. It's the perfect spot to have a soak after a day of site-seeing. The loft also has a full kitchen with stove, oven, and fridge, and is equipped with everything you need to cook dinner or prepare your morning cup of coffee. The living area provides plenty of space for you to spread out and play games, watch a movie or comfortably read a book. The Danish modern furniture is all convertible, allowing for two additional guests to each have a twin bed to themselves. If you can't bear to be inside, spend some time on the private balcony, which overlooks our courtyard garden. Featuring drought tolerant and primarily native plants, the garden changes season-by-season, and always lends a little color to your scenery. It's the perfect place to dine outside or relax with a glass of wine.
Access to the loft is easy with your own private parking space and gated entrance just down the stairs. Each building is separate, so you will not have anyone staying below you. Our loft accommodates 2-4 people -- a perfect spot for a couple or a small family. Our rentals are also pet friendly, so your dog (Or cat? Rabbit? Turtle?) is welcome.
Bedding and towels will be provided, along with toiletries such as soaps, shampoo/conditioner and lotion. We offer EO Products, which are free from synthetic fragrances, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and GMO-free.

**Please note that Solvang requires a 12% occupancy tax be collected on the rental rate. Airbnb does not provide a method for including the tax with the initial price, so it will be added to your booking AFTER you have requested or made the reservation with instant booking (this means we will contact you with a price alteration, and you will then have to approve a price increase in the amount of the required tax and the reservation will be updated). The tax is based on the nightly rental rate, and not on the cleaning fee. A Transient Occupancy Tax Certificate from the city is on display in the unit.**
The loft is a private second floor space that has it's own entrance. The balcony deck overlooks our courtyard garden. The shared yard below is available as well for chilling or outdoor dining. The unit is behind the main house but accessed from either the street or the alley, with your own parking spot just below the entrance. There will be nobody staying above or below you.
There is a hot tub in the yard, but for safety reasons, it is not offered with the rental. Each unit does not have its own BBQ, however you are welcome to use our BBQ which is located in the Courtyard area.
We live on the property (there are three homes) in the front house. We are available for anything you might need, but are also happy to leave you completely on your own. We work around your comfort level. A private entrance means you can come and go with minimal interaction with us or other guests. There is another rental, so you may see other guests as well. But you have your own private space, both indoor and outdoor.
You cannot be any closer to the heart of Solvang than The Great Dane Guest House. We are situated less than one block from the main street of town, Coppenhagen drive. Whether you've come for shopping, wine tasting, dining, adventuring, etc. - you will find everything is within a very short walk. We will provide anything you need to know about local restaurants, wineries, hikes, biking, shops, etc. The famous Solvang Horse Trolley comes by about every half hour Monday-Friday, which is worth a ride if you'd like to know a little about the history of our little Danish town. Right next-door is the award winning First and Oak Restaurant at The Mirabelle. We would be happy to make a reservation for you if you'd like. Also, if you enjoy gambling or shows, you can walk one block to Hotel Corque and catch a free shuttle to the Chumash Casino.
Parking is a cinch in Solvang. You can leave your car right in our driveway, and make your way on foot. If you don't feel like walking, you can rent a surrey cycle for up to 8 people. Or, catch a wine tour bus and travel in style to all of your favorite wineries. There is also an Amtrak bus stop two blocks from us, so if you're coming by train, consider making that connection. One block away is Hotel Corque, where you can catch a free shuttle to the Chumash Casino. There are also shuttles to Santa Barbara, LAX and points in-between.
**Note - The rental provides one parking spot on the property. If you have more than one vehicle, there is plenty of free street parking with no limitations on time or days of the week. On extra busy weekends, you may have to park further out, but it would be very unusual not to have a spot within one block of the cottage**

Our rental is situated directly behind Solvang Festival Theater - a charming outdoor theater that hosts plays and music events mostly throughout the summer. From the loft, you can actually see the theater (unfortunately not the stage) and listen to the shows. While the shows can be heard clearly while outdoors, you can hear them only slightly while inside. We love hearing the shows in the evenings and have never found it to be a nuisance. But you should consider that if you prefer perfect silence. The shows are in the evenings, usually finishing up around 10pm. During the day, Solvang is a bustle with tourist activity and the tingling of bells on the trolley horses. But, by about 6 pm, things quiet down considerably and you rarely hear any noise at night.

Guest access
As you enter the driveway, your parking spot will be immediately to the left of the car port. This is wheelchair accessible and a rather wide spot. To enter the unit, walk straight along the path forward after parking, then the first door on the right will be the unit (Look for the small frog statue).

We ask that you do not go into the backyard to the right of the carport, and behind the house by the hill.
The shed in the driveway is also off limits. Feel free to enjoy the area in front of the unit, including the trail leading to the bridge. The set of wooden stairs to the left of the shed is off-limits as well.

Please don't use any other doors than the one for the unit (Yours is next to the front door).

Just to be clear, the door to the right of the carport is our door.

We have placed a brand new queen-size bed in a larger room of the studio that features a kitchenette with a kitchen table and two chairs.
It has a TV set, a smaller table, a standing mirror and an antique wooden chair.

The smaller room of the studio has a new leather loveseat sofa with a coffee table, an antique chair, and a spacious closet with wooden hangers.
For romantic ambiance we have provided our guests with large flameless candles and a beautiful standing lamp.

This sitting area leads to a small washroom with a shower. It also has a portable washer that attaches to the bathroom sink. There are shelves for storing towels and toiletries. We provide our guests with luxurious, soft bamboo and cotton towels, calming French lavender soap, shower gel and body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and lavender essential oil linen water.

All nicely furnished to give our guests both a homey, welcoming Eurpean feeling as well as comfort and convenience.

The 1 bedroom studio apartment is part of our commercial/residential building located in the downtown area of Solvang town.
The front entrance to the building on Second Street is gated and closed at all times.
The stairways leading to the upper residential property from the front courtyard are private and only used by the owners. However, we welcome our guests to enjoy our romantic courtyard while listening to the running fountains.
Outdoor chairs and garden tables are provided. The courtyard is shared with the owners, only.
Our guests have their own private entrance to their unit from the back where the parking and open garage are located. Your assigned parking spot is covered and under the building.
There is an additional outdoor garden table with two chairs on the way to the rented unit next to the mailboxes that our guests are welcome to use.

Other things to note
Due to the size of the space, we have 2 guests maximum occupancy. It won't be suitable for any traveling guests with infants or small children. The property is not children-proof.
The quiet time is between 10 PM and 8 AM. We appreciate not playing loud music. No parties, no events. Outside guests are not permitted and our location cannot be used for commercial video/movie shooting.

IMPORTANT: Guests must confirm first and last name, as listed on a photo ID, when requesting to book. Once a guest name is listed on the reservation, it is non-transferable and unalterable; the reservation can only be updated to a different guest name for a $99 guest transfer fee ($129 if change is requested on same day as arrival). Name you tell us to put on the reservation needs to match first/last name on ID.
Primary guest must be 18 years or older, have a valid credit card, photo ID, and be physically present for obtain key cards to the unit. Upon arrival, guests will receive room assignment and parking pass. The units are assigned at random upon check-in (like a hotel), so unit location, view within the building will vary. Onsite management requires a $250 REFUNDABLE pre-authorization on a credit card. This authorization HOLD (NOT a charge) is released approximately 24-48 hours after checkout. Standard bank processing times apply.
