This cute little rental is a single level 1BD/1BA unit. The home is divided into two separate rentals units. You will be staying in the front portion of the home. There are no shared spaces except for the parking lot and the back fenced-in yard and patio.

The space is approximately 700 square feet. There is a nice big fenced-in yard behind the home that you are welcome to use, with a patio table and chairs and also a fire pit.

Guests will have sole use of the front unit in the house, which includes a fully stocked kitchen, bathroom that has a shower and tub, bedroom with queen size, bed, and living room that includes a large sofa that can be a space for a third guest.

There are 15 stairs from the tile entry area and bathroom up to the loft living area. Be sure to hold the rail as you go up and down, because the lower stairs are open on the other side to the tile. Might not be suitable for very small children or people having difficulty with stairs.

Kitchenette upstairs has a microwave, coffee maker, sink, and small dorm-size refrigerator.

With the 3-panel screens, the space has been configured as an apartment for studying for the bar exam, and as individual sleeping areas. It is very flexible and we can arrange it however you would like.

We have 2 queen beds and 1 twin bed. We can also set up 1 futon, 2 cots, and 2 couches, depending on your needs. We will contact you to see how you'd like the space set up for you.

We block 2 days between guests so we can have a thorough airing and cleaning.

1+ acre front yard is available for frisbee, football, and other activities. Circuit around the block is 1.1 miles. Washer and dryer available in the main house.

It is a very lovely space for walking, watching hummingbirds at our feeders, and listening to nature sounds. We sit back from the street which is at the back of the subdivision, meaning it is a very quiet setting.

Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space. It's your own private suite complete with a large bedroom, private dining area with a full kitchen, and private attached bathroom.

Our suite is king sized! King size bed, sitting area, dining room, full-sized kitchen, and private bath. We have provided coffee, sugar, and creamer for your mornings, and microwave popcorn to snack on. All very spacious with a large closet to hang up your things. There is a stove and oven, full size fridge, coffee maker and coffee, and creamer. There is a full-size sink and dishes are under the sink.

During your stay you can enjoy the private deck, or experience the beautiful gardens during the warmer months. Year round you can enjoy the gas fire pit.

We have two beach cruisers, by request for you to sight see or enjoy the fresh air. It's a lovely way to get to the "Hidden Waters".
We are pet friendly, but we are only set up for dogs. Please no cats. We are allergic to them. Thanks.

The Little Green Guesthouse is your boutique studio. It was built in 2023 above the detached garage situated about a 25 yards behind the main house. Large trees on the one acre property provide beauty and tranquility. Mulberry Cottage is the main home and is an Airbnb as well!

Within a mile are coffee shops, restaurants, wedding venues, and walking trails; plus the historic Ozark Square and Finley Farms located on the Finley River! And drive just 30 minutes to enjoy Branson Missouri!

The Little Green Guesthouse sits on an acre of land located 100 feet behind the main home, which we live in. The room is above our detached garage with a private entrance facing 4th Street. The studio is roomy, filled with light, and has everything needed for a wonderful stay.

Originally owned by the Calhoun family for over a century, 836 S. Delaware bears witness to a rich history. Alexander and Susie Calhoun, pioneers of Springfield, called this home from 1877. Alexander, a noted implement dealer, ran Calhoun Buggy and Implement Company in downtown Springfield. In 1889, the house was situated in farmland, documented as "2d s of Madison" in a phone directory. The property, once sprawling with 25 acres, saw changes over the years due to the evolving Rountree neighborhood. Tax records and census data unveil the transformation, offering a captivating glimpse into the property's evolution over time.

The Calhoun residence transcended familial abode, serving as a social hub for the community. Notable mentions in local newspapers highlight family gatherings, anniversary celebrations, and its role as a meeting space for the Pickwick Sewing Club and Springfield Little Theatre.

Post-Alexander and Susie, their niece, Ms. Margaret "Maggie" Crighton, inherited the home. A distinguished figure, Maggie, head librarian at Southwest Missouri State College for three decades, continued the tradition of hosting various gatherings, from informal student groups to sorority meetings.

836 S. Delaware boasts a two-story Craftsman farmhouse with distinctive Carthage limestone. The large front porch, characteristic of late 19th- and early 20th-century Craftsman style, stands as a testament to its architectural significance. The property includes a split-level carriage house with a unique breezeway on the second floor.

As a side note, the possibility of Calhoun Street's connection to this family adds an intriguing layer to Springfield's history. Notably, 828 and 842 S. Delaware, also owned by the Calhoun family until the late 1960s, contribute to the limited collection of masonry houses in Rountree between Grand and Cherry.

The Winsome Loft is a dedicated second-story guest house providing all the comforts of home but the elegance of your favorite hotel.

The space
The loft is fully furnished with all the amenities that make you feel right at home. Complimentary items are included at no extra charge, we only ask that guests help us ensure there's goodies remaining for future guests.

The loft has a full bedroom with a queen size bed. The master bedroom also has a full HD smart television.

The main living space is comprised of two large sofas (exceptionally comfortable to sleep on for kids), a full 4K smart television, and a dining room table suitable for games or work. In addition, some games, coloring books, etc. are available.

The kitchen will make you feel right at home with a full-size range and oven. A microwave as well as bowls, plates, cups, silverware, and more are available for use. Snacks! Everyone loves snacks. If you find yourself too tired to venture out, or too short on time enjoy a snack or beverage. A Keurig with coffee and creamer is also available for your enjoyment.

A washer, dryer and full-size bathroom is included to allow you to clean up after a day full of adventures! The balcony overlooks the courtyard. The back yard is fully fenced and is perfect for kids.

Home Theater and Entertainment Space:
The Loft includes access to the on-premises entertainment space which includes an arcade and theater. Your door code for the Loft will also get you access to this space. This space includes a full featured theater with complimentary snacks, an entertainment space with plenty of games, and arcade. Lastly, the entertainment space also contains a storm shelter that should only be accessed by guests when inclement weather is occurring.

The entertainment space is a shared resource with the property owners and may occasionally be in use.

Guests are welcome to use the space at their leisure, we only ask that it be respected as if it were your own. All the same house rules apply except that we ask anyone under 14 be accompanied by an adult.

POOL: Availability hours are 10am to 8pm. The pool is in the back yard of the main house, and in a shared space with the property owners; although access is typically limited to family during guests stay, to ensure privacy. Please review safety rules located on the pool deck. If the pool cover is closed simply send a text to the hosts and they will open it right away.

Basketball Court: Available any time before midnight. If you play after dark, please be respectful of our neighbors and keep music/noise to a minimum.

House Rules:
We ask that all guests treat the loft as their own. Please take care to not cause damage to the property. We know accidents happen, please let us know immediately if anything occurs.

We provide snacks, food items, candy, beverages, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other amenities you would find at home. While they're provided for you to enjoy, we only ask that you be reasonable in their consumption.

We have guests and family that are severely allergic to pets, as such, animals are strictly prohibited.

** The loft is near a busy train line. Trains may be heard at various times during the day and night, although most guests we've spoken with stated they barely noticed, if at all. **

Guest access
Guests may access the Loft, the courtyard, the entertainment space, pool, and backyard with a basketball court. The allowed smoking area on the property is the Loft porch. For access to the entertainment space please follow the walking path towards the backyard. It will be the stand alone building on your left. Access code will be the same code used to get into the Loft.

Parking is limited to TWO vehicles that are required to be parked directly behind the Loft guest parking sign.

The Winsome Loft is owned by a military family. As such, if you are current military or a retired veteran, combat veteran, etc. we would happily extend a 10% discount to you on your stay. After booking send us a message with your service/veteran status and we will reply with a discount offer. Thank you for your service!

The standard nightly rate is for "personal use" only. If you would like to book the Loft for commercial purposes, please reach out for rates and prior approval. Any commercial usage not pre-approved may be assessed a $250 service/maintenance fee (this includes professional photography). Any additional guests who are not on the booking will be assessed up to $250 per guest, per night.

Unlike many Airbnb's we do not have a checkout list, and we charge a very small cleaning fee to help offset our cleaning costs. To keep our cleaning fee low, we ask that guests do their best to be respectful of the spaces. This includes returning furniture/items to their original place, picking up messes that are made, placing all trash in trash cans, and notifying us immediately of damages.

We do NOT allow smoking, vaping, etc. inside any space. Any use of tobacco, cannabis, or vaping will result in a cleaning fee of up to $500.
