- "A log cabin motel a half mile from the lake and downtown. What more could you ask for? The log cabin room with the Pendleton blanket was so quaint and lovely. The patio out back was quiet and faced the woods and gave us some privacy for a glass of red. Truly super-easy and lovely." - "Loved the lodge feel. Staff was helpful" - "Great location if you want quiet & access to Mirbeau Inn & Spa. Most people would need to use their car to get to the lake/main area of Skaneateles where you would find most restaurants and shopping."

There is no place better to settle into snow-tinged winter coziness as we head into the winter season :)
Welcome to your private woodland retreat surrounded by nature, with equal access to four of the area's most famous and beautiful natural gorges-a different kind of beautiful in winter.
Resting on a wooded hilltop surrounded by one of the largest protected forests in the region, this lovingly refinished log cabin offers the perfect blend of seclusion and convenience. Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, you’ll be just a short drive from the vibrant towns of Ithaca and Watkins Glen, known for their wineries, dining, lakes, waterfalls, and cultural attractions.
The Full Log Cabin Experience:
Step inside and feel instantly at home. An open-concept interior highlights the classic and traditional log cabin structure with its large wooden beams. An attractive glass-fronted wood stove perches on a mason-built local-stone hearth. Large windows frame tranquil forest views. The fully equipped kitchen with full-sized refrigerator, microwave, and dual fuel range has everything you need to prepare gourmet meals, and the dining room table is roomy enough for enjoying those meals—or a board game—with loved ones. The bathroom features a charming clawfoot tub for showering…or soaking. Two queen beds in the roomy loft comfortably sleep four people, and custom-fitted “sleep kits” for the sofas allow accommodation of up to two additional sleepers. Curl up and watch a movie with the projector and large (retractable) screen. You’ll find the high-speed Wi-Fi allows you to stay as connected as you desire, but the space is also designed to encourage disconnecting from the digital world and lingering in a different way with your favorite person, or your favorite people, or even a well-behaved furry friend.
Lovely Location:
Step outside to see, hear and feel nature on the big covered porch. Set-up an outdoor meal around the “smoke-less" fire pit. Wander around the salamander-, frog-, and koi-filled pond ringed by tiny native wildflowers. In winter, maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of our neighborhood mink! Put on your hiking boots and head down-slope to meander the private 50-acres, or pick up the Finger Lakes Trail. You could spend countless days exploring the nearly 12,000 acres of State-owned conservation lands surrounding the property. Hike, relax, grill, toast marshmallows and watch the sun set over the wooded hill beyond pond. Listen to the wind in the trees--or the complete silence. Star-gaze. The quiet hilltop location will fill you with peace and tranquility.
Right off the property:
The neighboring seasonal roads are excellent for biking in the summer, and provide some of the best trails around for snowshoeing and x-country skiing in winter
Finger Lakes Trail Access:
Use the cabin as your basecamp for day hikes along this unique long-distance hiking trail system that spans approximately 580 miles through the Finger Lakes region from Allegheny State Park in the west to the Catskill Mountains in the east.
And of course there's the GORGES!:
For hiking, picnicking and swimming, four of the Finger Lakes’ finest State Parks—Watkins Glen, Robert Treman, Buttermilk Falls, and Taughannock Falls—are all within 15 miles (<30 min drive). The cabin has full information on these destinations.
Lakes, Lakes, Lakes:
In summer, nearby Seneca, Cayuga and Cayuta lakes offer ample water-based summer recreation.
And For Everything Else:
Music, shopping, food, drink—you are only 12 miles from downtown Ithaca, 15 miles from Watkins Glen, and 13 miles from the village of Trumansburg.
Ithaca (12 mi/20 min):
Explore shopping and dining on the Ithaca Commons, visit Cornell University, College Town, Ithaca College, dozens of restaurants (with diverse ethnic offerings), the nationally famous Ithaca’s Farmer’s Market, the Science Center, Stuart Park, Cass Park and Ice Skating Rink, the Children’s Park, and multiple annual festivals.
Watkins Glen (20 mi/30 min):
Discover the famous Watkins Glen State Park, dip into Seneca Lake at Watkins Glen Beach, visit nearby Montour Falls, explore the beauty of Seneca Lake and it’s many wineries and breweries, or have a meal at one of the many unique restaurants and cafes.
Trumansburg (13 mi/20 min):
Take a stroll in a beautiful deep gorge to the stunning 215-foot waterfall at Taughannock Falls State Park—or just pull up at the overlook. Take a swim in Cayuga Lake, but when you’re done, don’t miss the quaint village main street, with its perfect little set of offerings: Sundries gift shop, Gimme Coffee shop, Main Street Market (local and specialty foods), Garrett’s Brewery, and Atlas Bowl (yes, hip bowling with complete bar and kitchen). Or get your dance on at the famous GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance. Visit the lively Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays all through the summer and fall. Heck, jump on the Black Diamond Trail and bike the 15 miles down to Ithaca’s Cass Park!
Finger Lakes Beer and Wine:
Sample award-winning wines and craft beers at dozens of nearby vineyards and breweries and enjoy the scenic beauty of the region.
Whether you’re seeking a getaway, a retreat, or discovery and an adventure, with your partner or your family, this log cabin is the perfect home base for those who additionally crave peace, quiet, and natural beauty. Book your stay today and experience the natural beauty and vibrant local culture of the Finger Lakes!
INFORMATION FOR GUESTS
(PLEASE READ IF BOOKING)
Cell Service:
The property has limited/spotty cell service.
Please check with your provider to confirm your service quality.
The cabin does have high-speed, fiber-optic WiFi for your use.
Winter Access:
The main road to the cabin is maintained year round, but the elevation means we get more snow locally than the surrounding areas.
All-wheel drive is always advisable and occasionally necessary during the winter months.
Your Furry Friends:
Dog are allowed, conditionally.
Need prior approval and agreement to our pet policy & pet fee (see below).
Wildlife:
More often than not, you won’t see a bit of wildlife besides birds and pond critters.
But we do have lots of wildlife around including fox, coyote, fishers, raccoons, and *** PORCUPINES**
We almost never see these creatures, especially up at the cabin, but downslope from us, in the woods, our camera traps log them routinely, and on a walk in the woods your dog could find one.
Thus on walks into the woods, dog owners are recommended to keep their dog on a leash and if there is a chance they will stray from you.
Critters:
We been complimented on our cleanliness and lack of bugs...
And
We run the tightest ship we can...
And
And, we’ve not had problems with mice in the house,,,
But,,,
We are in the woods. Over the course of your stay you may hear a squirrel on the roof, or a woodpecker exploring the cabin perimeter, or encounter a chatty curious Phoebe nesting nearby.
Insects are perpetually finding their way in in small numbers. We routinely vacuum such intruders away. This will be a non-issue for most guests. However, if bugs really disturb you, a cabin in the woods not be the best choice ; )
Not a Swimming Pond:
The pond is primarily for wildlife and ambience, not for swimming (by people or pets) and definitely not a fishing pond (only goldfish). But there is a little dingy to get out onto it.
Amenities:
- Fully equipped kitchen
- Wood stove for chilly nights
- Spacious porch with ample seating

- "Beautiful property that provides the isolation one is looking for to disconnect but with the convenience of a 20min drive to everything you would need. " - "Absolutely loved this cabin! Perfect location. Far enough away for privacy yet only 20-30 minutes from stores and great hiking. Stayed a week and didn't want to leave, felt like home. Property manager was very quick to answer any questions and even kept us updated on approaching bad weather. They even came out the same day to provide us with what we needed to cook on the open fire pit. Highly recommend!!!!! "

Geneva and Watkins Glen were both cool places to visit, the wine was great, and we had some killer food at a couple different local restaurants as well." - "This property was the best way to getaway and reconnect with my partner. The cabin was clean and unique. The romantic cabin was set a little bit further from the other two on the property and right in from of the adorable pond. The owner was incredibly sweet and made himself available for anything we needed. Everything was clean and well planned out. I’m so grateful to have found this place and will certainly look into coming back again. "

Sunrises over Keuka Lake are really special, so "A Beautiful Place" is great for a romantic weekend getaway for two. It's also perfect lodging for a wine tasting or ski trip, or a fun family vacation!
Note: We do not provide linens for the beds or towels for the bath. Kitchen towels are provided. If you need assistance with renting these amenities, please let us know.
- "Very nice property. It was the perfect size for two couples. Nice location for easy access to numerous wineries and breweries and Penn Yan. We rented the property so we could attend a concert at Point of the Bluff winery. We will definately look into renting again if we go to any concerts at the Bluff next season. It is very secluded and private with a view of Keuka Lake." - "This is one of the best places we've ever stayed. It inside of the home is gorgeous. The views, they are above everything. My dog June loved the toys that were there and running through the fields. The neighborhood is so quiet. Waking up to crickets, a rooster calling, or a cow mooing is fantastic. If you get to stay here, do it. I'm hoping to be back here next year!!!!"

Our cabins are located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, in Yates County NY. The areas shop and restaurant owners are aware of Covid requirements while still providing a positive and safe experience for the vacationer. We have increased our cabin disinfection procedures and hope you’ll consider joining us to experience the beautiful scenery of this picturesque area for yourselves.
Now on to our cabin .
Newly renovated Adirondack style cabin nestled in the heart of the finger lakes. Situated on a lot with pines, woods and fields and a mile walking path right out the back door. Enjoy your coffee in the morning with deer, turkeys and a number of other wildlife species right off of the spacious covered porch.
The cabin has a queen size bed upstairs in the loft and a pull out futon suitable for one adult or two children downstairs, as well as a separate trundle bed with two twin size beds available. Please review photos of the living room, trundle and futon while its in the down sleeping position so you are familiar with all the sleeping arrangements. Also, please review the photos of the spiral staircase. Guests with limited mobility may find it harder to access the upstairs loft.
We went all in when renovating the bathroom including it’s beautiful shower. The living room has a cozy fireplace (electric) with large screen TV with local stations (also radio). There is no WiFi, cable or internet here but we may add it in the future. You don’t come to the beautiful countryside to stay in this off the path gem to watch TV and search the web. There’s just too much to do, be it hiking, fishing, wineries, antique shopping, you name it. Most cell phones will work at the cabin, depending on your provider and the weather but if you need a signal, one typically can get it on the road or a short distance down it.
The cabins’ driveway can comfortably hold two cars, three or four if you don’t mind backing out of the driveway. We have a grill for cooking steaks on the porch after a hard day enjoying the finger lakes or guest can cook inside with a fully functional kitchen with stove, refrigerator and microwave.
Branchport and Keuka Lake State Park is a 10 minute drive, as is Prattsburgh. Naples is 15 minutes away and Penn Yan about 20. All three have Dollar and general stores for buying groceries. Penn Yan is the biggest town, with a cinema and more choices than the other area towns. However, one can’t beat Joseph’s fruit stand in Naples for freshly cooked pies, cakes, and bread as well as awesome fruits and veggies, as well as Lynnie Lou’s ice cream but Penn Yan has buckwheat pan cakes, Indian Pines Farm market and two ice cream stores, Seneca Farms and Macs Dairy bar! Oh the choices!
Please check out our other cabins, "The Green, Green Grass of Home", Vrbo I.D. no. 9457683 and "Home on the Range" Vrbo ID no. 2943266. Both cabins are also newly renovated and can hold up to 6 guests.
- "Great cozy little cabin to get away for the weekend. We would definitely love to come back again sometime." - "Cozy cabin on a lightly used dirt road. Upstairs bed was comfortable, but the narrow spiral staircase is not for people with limited mobility. Large secluded lot. We enjoyed the fire pit each night. Lots of wineries, breweries, and hiking within an hours drive." - "The cabin is small but perfect to get away and unplug for a couple of days."

- "Communication was great. We had a great time staying here and spent alot of time traveling to Ithaca for restaurants and hiking. The only things I thought were not explained well is that the bed in loft is on the floor, but it was still semi-comfortable. And the other thing is the bathtub..there is no shower but a handheld showerhead so you have to kind of sit down and shower as to not get water everywhere. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay and those were merely minor things we just werent aware of."

- "The cabin fit its online description to a tee. It was rustic enough so that it felt like a vacation, but with all the amenities to make the stay very comfortable. My only regret was that I could not find the advertised path to the lake." - "My husband and i come to the finger lakes once every year and this was our first time staying at the cayuga cabins. We are already planning when we want to come up next year! Clean, comfortable and excellent location to all oir favorite wineries. We even decided to stay an extra night next year because we loved it so much! Thank you for a wonderful (kid free) get away that we both needed so much!"
