Hi! Please scroll down to "contact host" button. I will OFFER you a stay after we chat. Price is generally $350 for 1 night and $90 - 200 for additional nights, based on dates. Ask about last minute discounts!
Spend cozy evenings reading beside the fire or listening to the sounds of nature on the front porch of my beautiful, rustic log cabin. Fish for trout just down the hill on Woodland Valley creek or the Esopus River a mile away. Just down our road is a beautiful hike with 25 mile views.
My place is cozy, homey, magical but not fancy or renovated! This is a perfect spot for nature lovers who want true serenity and the glory of the mountains and sunshine all around you. No matter the season, you will find your soul restored after a stay at my cabin!
We currently have some cooling in the cabin -- a mini split in the main living space provides cooling (and heating in the winter). At night it gets cool in the mountains; we do not have a/c in the bedrooms presently but will be adding mini splits to the bedrooms this year.
I love dogs and cats as long as they don't scratch or pee or munch things in my cabin. They will thank you for taking them to this little piece of heaven!
A note -- I have a 5-night minimum until 2-3 weeks ahead. After that, I can offer a stay of 1-4 nights. I can't indicate this on the calendar. Just let me know your dates and I can send the offer.
This listing is a very special place! It's really a slice of heaven yet not too far from town. But it's not a place with lots of amenities -- e.g dishwasher, perfectly level walls and floors, etc. It's all simple and so it's not right for everyone. If you are expecting a place like your apartment in the city, it won't work for you. It's paradise if you like to get away from your regular life.
The price is generally $450 for the first two nights for up to three people, and $100 for each additional night, higher on holidays, lower last minute. This pricing system starts over each Friday. VRBO doesn't have a way to show this except by showing a weekend price, but the price is by number of nights, not by which nights.
Another mile up the road are some of New York State's best hiking and camping trails.
My cabin and the cottage next door are cozy, homey, magical but not fancy or renovated! This is a perfect spot for nature lovers who want true serenity and the glory of the mountains and sunshine all around you. No matter the season, you will find your soul restored after a stay here!

So close to great restaurants and spectacular scenery." - "A cozy cabin in a beautiful and peaceful setting. The eat in kitchen was well stocked with supplies and the bedrooms were comfortable. We loved the huge deck the most, and spent hours there with morning coffee, happy hour drinks in the afternoon, watching the sun set in the evening. Lots of interesting hiking and exploring for our dog, who was quite interested in the rabbits he saw. Another much enjoyed bonus---the pool table in the basement. Jackie provided detailed information and clear instructions, and was easy to communicate with, making our stay a perfect one."

The Woodland Valley Lodge (in Phoenicia) is among the finest accommodations in the Catskills. Shandaken Township STR License #: 2023-STR-AO-122.
A 1900 craftsman ski/fishing lodge with all the warmth and charms of a stone fireplace, wood beamed ceilings and douglas fir floors, but fully updated with the modern comforts of home including two remodeled (2024) full bathrooms. The interior Lodge is nestled in spectacular Woodland Valley – a short two hour drive from New York City and just down a two lane road to one of America’s coolest towns, Phoenicia.
Ground Floor:
You enter the Lodge into the Main Lodge room where you'll sit and chat for hours as you solve the world's wonders from two leather sofas in front of a river stone fireplace which is constructed from our own Woodland Valley Stream stones. A new propane furnace keeps the Lodge toasty in winter, and an iron, sealed, Danish, wood burning fireplace adds ambiance and mad charm!
The Lodge decor is themed on the great western US National Parks, and of course on New York’s own Catskills Park (since we are located in the middle of Catskill Park!). Think Pendleton wool blankets for color! The Yellowstone master bedroom and the Rainier bedroom are downstairs off of the Main Lodge room, and each sleeps two in queen beds. The Screening / Reading room, also located off of the Main Lodge, is another cozy spot to sit and read or binge Netflix on a leather sofa there with your feet on the ottoman. There is a newly remodeled (early 2024) full bathroom - iron soaking tub and rain shower - as you walk from the Main Lodge room to the kitchen. Entering the kitchen, you'll face the Wolf range and feel the natural light flooding in from windows on two walls of the kitchen. The breakfast table seats 6-8, and 2 more can eat at the countertop nook on two counter stools. Walking through the kitchen then past the other modern Bosch and Samsung appliances, you will enter the Catskills dining room. This table is set for 6, but we seat 10 there at holidays. Here you can sit drinking your coffee either at the large stone topped table or in one of the two lounge chairs with lambskin padding and watch nature through the windows on three sides. In summer, listen to the bucolic bubbling of the Woodland Valley Stream as you drink your coffee, and in winter watch the snow fall as you still hear the faint creek sounds through the windows. The Catskill dining room is also perfect for board games.
Music love is also fed at the Lodge as we included Sonos One players in both the kitchen and the main Lodge room. You can stream from Spotify or any music app on your phone or device.
Second Floor:
The Glacier bedroom is at the top of the stairs upstairs and also sleeps two in a queen bed, while the Yosemite bedroom across the hallway sleeps four (2 on the bunk beds and another 2 - if under age 16 - in separate twin beds). The upstairs bathroom was also recently remodeled (early 2024) and your little ones will LOVE the Bear Cave which is a hidden kids hangout upstairs!
The scenery surrounding the Lodge is spectacular and just outside your door. Mountains are on all sides. Watch deer with their fawns below you from the Catskill room as you drink your morning coffee or play board games or cards. Fish for brown, rainbow, and brook trout, or enjoy a refreshing swim in the creek. Hike or snowshoe the many nearby trails. Sit around the firepit at night in six black Adirondack chairs listening to the wood crackle and the creek passing just feet away.
The Lodge brings the US National Parks to you two hours from the city. Come spend some time - relax and energize with nature all around you.
- "We had such a wonderful time staying at the Lodge. The historic property was beautiful and clean, and we loved being right on the Woodland Creek. There was plenty of space for our two families of four to not feel like we were constantly on top of each other, and the location had great proximity to so many hikes. The firepit was perfect for s'mores with the kids, and they loved seeing the wildlife that wandered through the property (turkeys and even a bear one day)! There's a swimming hole up the road that we made use of on our last day there, and we all spent a ton of time down at the creek. Overall, it was a fabulous place to stay, and we'd love to come back."

- "The host has been very attentive making sure we have everything we need. I think the river, the cabin location on the water, the little rabbits in the yard, the updates cabin, katterskills falls, are the highlights and the main key takeaways . The Phoenicia village is lovely with few places to eat. Biking along The Ashakan reservoir is also a really good option and so the pedal assist rail . Definitely a really good choice for about a short 2 hours drive from the city. Would definitely recommend and do it again !"

We’re an interior designer and carpenter pair who’ve styled over 200 properties around the world, including our own in California and New York. This is our heartfelt diamond!
We are thusly adamantly not a party house, nor a hotel, and rather a coveted private homeshare preferring families as guests and unfortunately can’t rent to three or more under 28 years old unless supervised by someone over this age limit. Cheers!
And the listed rate is for up to two guests; please book accurately for the guest count. :)
Lastly, please note that The Way Out House, the tiny home in the back of the same mountainside property, may also be occupied during your stay. It is of course also an option for if you'd like to extend to renting both for a larger group, as it sleeps four.
More information on that and our other properties in NYC, the Catskills and Hudson Valley is on our site, The Agrarian Home.

The High Catskill Mountains are home to many animals species including deer, coyotes, bears, bobcats, racoons, foxes, squirrels, chipmunks, etc.
Regardless of how cute they might look, they're still wild animals. They should be treated with great caution, avoided and left alone.
The Hudson Valley and surrounding areas also have insects that should be avoided – mosquitos, bees, wasps, and particularly ticks which can cause allergic reactions or carry serious diseases, like Lyme Disease. Be aware of how such diseases are transmitted, wear appropriate light-colored clothing when outside, and consider wearing clothing containing Permethrin and use insect repellent with DEET. Carefully inspect yourself and your children for ticks at the end of the day if you've been outside or hiking on the many trails in the area, know the symptoms of Lyme and other tick-borne illnesses and act accordingly. Consult a physician or specialist if anyone in your group has been bitten or stung and you think it’s appropriate.
ABC Pest Control will come once a month to spray essential oils around the exterior of the cabin to keep insects under control.
During your stay at Grandview Cabin, there may be individuals or small groups of workers who come from time to time to maintain the property. They mow lawn. In the winter, they plow the driveway and shovel snow and scatter salt on the pathways and thresholds to make them less slippery. From time to time, we may need the services of a professional plumber or electrician to fix a particular problem inside the house. We will work with guests to be sure that such visits are scheduled in advance and done with respect and with care for health concerns.

Feel cozy and inspired in a rustic cabin updated with modern conveniences. It is set in a beautiful valley, near the hamlets of Phoenicia and Woodstock.
We've tried to honor the simplicity of this 60's log cabin with pieces that would have occupied the space back then. Yes, the red formica is original and the curtains came with the house. Everything else was hunted down through vintage stores and flea markets - and it makes us smile. We spend time with our friends there: making cocktails and great dinners, going for walks, playing cards and awful games of charades. There is also a VHS library and Atari in the bunk room that is a hit with kids and adults. Unplug and relax! It’s a rewarding retreat from the pace of modern life.
You will have access to the entire house and grounds.
We are in Brooklyn, but please, text or call anytime, we have friends in the area who can help with any difficulties.
This relaxed retreat is located at the edge of a wood with views of the mountain ridges. It is a small, friendly neighborhood a 5-minute car ride from Phoenicia and a short drive from Woodstock, Belleayre, and Hunter.
You will need a car (or Bike) to get to the house. Friends joining you could take the Trailways bus into Phoenicia (5 minute drive), or Amtrak to the Rhinecliff station (RHI) (40 min drive). The nearest airport is Stewart International in Newburgh (1hr 10min drive).

Get away from it all and connect with nature at our luxurious cabin located right in the heart of the highly coveted Woodland Valley neighborhood of the Catskills.
Conveniently located 9 min from downtown Phoenicia, 20 min from Woodstock for dining and culture, and 4 min from hiking trailheads.
We painstakingly and lovingly designed the spa cabin, and if you come take advantage of all that it has to offer, we have no doubt you'll come away feeling rested, rejuvenated, and at one with nature!
The space
With so much to offer inside the cabin and on the grounds, you'll feel like you're having your own private wellness retreat.
The cabin features an indoor jacuzzi bathtub, a steam shower, a rain shower, and heated floors for a true spa-like experience. There's a small gym that has a Peloton bike with unlimited classes, a treadmill desk, and a weight bench. There's also a wood-burning fireplace, high-quality kitchen appliances, a home theater system with Netflix, a laundry room, and an office setup perfect for working from home.
Outside on the grounds, you'll have two ponds, a stream and miles of primitive hiking trails, all to yourself! There's also an area with a firepit, bbq grill and hammock. Directly across the street is Woodland Creek where you can swim or just sit and enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of the rushing water.

There are a number of outstanding local eateries just a few minutes away plus it's just a 9-minute drive to the quaint town of Phoenicia and 20 minutes to the buzzing culture and food scene of Woodstock.
Guest access
You'll have exclusive access to the cabin and the grounds including the secluded pond and all the hiking trails. The big pond is shared with our neighbor to the left and the stream is shared with our neighbor to the right.
Other things to note
Woodland Valley is home to more animals than people. There's a good chance you'll see deer, squirrels, chipmunks, wild turkeys, and tons of other species of birds. They're all completely harmless. There are also black bears who live in the area but encountering one is extremely rare and they don't present a risk to humans unless they feel their young are endangered.
The cabin is situated at the front of the property, close to the street but the road has no through-traffic and houses are spaced far apart so you'll find it extremely quiet and serene.
Furry friends are welcome but we charge a small one-time fee to cover the extra cleaning costs and wear so please be sure to add them when entering how many guests are coming, or reach out to us and let us know!

"Of all the retreats I have found among the Catskills there is no other that possesses quite so many charms for me as this valley. It is so wild, so quiet and has such superb views." - John Burroughs. Our beautiful cabin, tucked into a secluded hollow at the base of Romer Mountain, sits by Woodland Valley Creek. A couple of miles up the road are trailheads to Giant Ledge, Panther, Wittenberg and Slide. Phoenicia hamlet is 4 miles away. Woodstock, Belleayre and Hunter are within 1/2 hour.

You may see beavers, bears, deer, bald eagles and turkeys. Hang out and play games in the finished basement, or cozy up by the wood stove.
From spring until fall, the flower garden is abundant with colorful blossoms. A path by the shed leads to a beautiful river bend with wild flowers growing among the rocks. In the other direction, a steep mountain stream flowing into the river separates our property from our neighbor's. Hello hello, we’re glad you found The Highview!
Firstly - a few reviews mention that our sauna wasn’t getting warm enough. We realized the stones’ thermostat was right above the heater. It is now toward the floor, and it really cooks. :)
——
Bedroom One - White-Walled Room, Sleeps 2
Bedroom Two - Black-Walled Room, Sleeps 1
Bedroom Three - Gray-Walled Homeowner Suite is no longer part of the rental, and will have its barn door wall pulled closed
Bedrooms One & Two both don’t have traditional ceilings, as you can see in the photos, but are visually private and surprisingly sound-muffling...
Our cabin wonderfully caters to relaxation with all the comfy amenities, but is priced as a design experience of an artist team’s personal home of often-delicate installations, and is not a place to party.
It’s a vintage-forward quintessential post-and-beam Hallenbeck log cabin with colorful midcentury accents and speedy appliances. Every kitchen tool imaginable, elemental dining and hosting ware, a gramophone with records, plenty of games, and a projector with 80” pull-down screen to hook up to your phone, laptop, or to stream directly from your accounts using the Roku stick.
You can as well make use of the screened-in porch with porch bed and the panoramic barrel sauna…
Note: It is possible that The Way Out House, the tiny home behind The Highview Cabin will also be rented, but there are no direct sight lines between the two.
Thanks for treating our painstakingly self-renovated heart home with care! You’ll see the ‘Before’ photos framed inside and understand. :)
xx,
The Agrarian Home Duo

We (so) very much appreciate you containing your cozy stay to the cabin, porch and backyard without being notably present in any of the immediate surrounds on our mini private dead-end road, please and thank you!
More specifically:
The cabin is on a 1/3 acre on a private one-way road amidst three other mountainside properties. One of the three other families has a chip on their shoulder about us sharing our home, and prefers to not have knowledge of or interaction with guests.
We’re grateful for your help in our navigation of our neighbor’s preferences!
