Charming cabin off the beaten path
Cabin
Kenova, West Virginia, USA

Take it easy and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature at our cozy Pure Country cabin. Perfect for relaxing and unwinding. Convenient to Huntington, WV, Ashland KY and Ironton OH. Located just a few miles from Huntington Tri State Airport.

Guest Reviews:

- "Cabin had everything for a great stay Thank you " - "True to its description it is off the beaten path. If you go in fall be prepared to be greeted by red hornets and stink bugs. But a breath-taking view of colorful tree tops as far as the eye can see. You will be serenaded by white tail deer calling to one another daily morning and night, the sweet sounds of crickets, frogs and other sounds of pure country perfection. Now, if you are not familiar with how to navigate up a winding single lane country road, you may like to practice before arrival. Crisp evenings can be spent on the grand country porch, by a home made fire on the open pit or in front of the faux fireplace indoors. Don't startle in the mornings, once the fog begins to recede and you hear sounds of dew drops from the trees falling heavy on the metal roof. Its just a reminder, you are in God's country. Kenova is the nearest town, less than five miles away and I would advise you return to the cabin before dark, otherwise the deer hurds will have to determine if they will allow you to pass or not. If you enjoy camping, you will enjoy this cabin."

Forest Adventure Twin B&B 10 mins from downtown!
Cabin
Cabell County

Lovely log cabin 10 min from downtown Huntington - escape the hustle & bustle, but still be close to museums, restaurants, shows, sports & universities. Peaceful birdsong greets you as you relax, work, or hike. Feeling adventurous? Enjoy 24 acres with stunning views or visit the family cemetery founded in the 1860's! After my parents make you breakfast, you can think of us like your long lost WV family. We're here to help! This listing is for a twin bedroom in a shared 4 bedroom log cabin home.

The space
The 1970's log cabin has been under restoration since 2018. We've done our best to keep it authentic and modern where we can. However, there are some quirks about our unique cabin you should know prior to your booking:

First, the walls are actual hand hewn logs with some gaps due to age, and the cabin is in a country setting, so it is possible that you'll encounter dusty surfaces in various parts of the home and the occasional harmless bug depending on the time of year (stinkbugs, spiders, or ladybugs are common types). Rarely are there snakes, but we have had 1 black snake (it's a harmless to humans variety) in the last 3 years, so we won't say never.

Despite the occasional bug or dust, you'll have fresh laundered bedding and a freshly cleaned room prior to your arrival.

There is no or little insulation between the wood plank floors, so sound does carry. When guests stay over, my parents observe quiet time from 10pm-8am, and this can be adjusted earlier or later to meet your individual needs. It is generally peaceful with the only sounds being bird song. The cabin is relatively dark and cozy, and there is little traffic on the single lane road.

Even though it is very close to downtown, it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, even more so if you go for a walk along the cemetery road, or one of our hiking trails. The cemetery was established in the 1860s by J. Flowers, who had 13 children! My mother and I are descended from his oldest daughter, Hermiome. A map of points of interest on the property is provided. Hiking and exploring the property is done at your own risk, we are not liable for injuries/death. You might see peacocks or bears or coyote, and the occasional scarlet tanager in the pristine oak forest to the west on our Wandering Woods Upper trail.

The WiFi is great, the tvs all have streaming services available, and the office is a good place to focus and get work accomplished without interuption. The mini-split hvac units do an excellent job of heating/cooling the entire cabin and you can adjust your rooms temperature with a remote control.

The kitchen has all the tools needed to cook something up on the gas stove, make a pot of coffee, or even a cold drink - and if you need anything special, we're happy to help make it a reality as best we can.

There is a gravel parking lot and stairs leading up into the porch, it is not ADA accessible, unfortunately, and there are stairs leading up to the 2nd floor bedrooms.

Guest access
You can access all rooms in the cabin and your designated bedroom. You may not access any other bedrooms on the 2nd floor and the basement. There is a shared full bathroom on the 2nd and 1st floor. Laundry is on the 2nd floor. There is a den on the 1st floor with a Windows PC desktop and laser printer and a Rygar vintage arcade machine for your enjoyment, and a large screen tv in the 1st floor living room. You'll receive a map of the grounds if you'd like to explore. Make yourself at home!

During your stay
Jim & Donna will be on site or on the acreage property during your stay, and will work with you on breakfast times to suit your needs. I am accessible via SMS texting and can be on site within 1hr in emergencies. As this is a 1 bedroom rental in a 4 bedroom log cabin, there may be other guests present in other rooms. We hope you'll have a lovely time at our forest adventure bed and breakfast!

Other things to note
For safety, we only book with those with positive reviews on AirBnB, please reach out to us when established within the community. Thank you!

There is a Rygar vintage arcade machine in the den, as well as a PC desktop available for use.
