We kindly request that guests refrain from hosting large parties or family gatherings out of respect for the neighboring homeowners, many of whom reside here year-round. By fostering a sense of harmony and consideration, we can ensure that everyone enjoys a peaceful and rejuvenating stay. Please be advised that this home does have a camera that monitors the driveway and the garage but can be turned off after arrival if so requested.

Minimum Age Limit for Renters: The guest signing the rental agreement/contract must be 30 years of age or older (ID at check-in required) and must be responsible for the group during the entire time of the stay.

Maximum occupancy restrictions: The number of guests at any WAYA-managed property can not exceed the maximum occupancy number (or sleeps number). This includes invited guests, friends, or additional family members. Events, parties, or family gatherings are not permitted without express written permission prior to booking.

This property is Dog-friendly. A non-refundable fee per stay, per dog ( 2 dog max) is assessed during the booking process.

While the cabin has been updated, we strive to maintain its historic character, as one of the original Michiana cabins (almost 100 years old). With that you may find the original wood floors creek & show signs of the many guests its welcomed over the years, some light switches are in odd places, and you pass through the bathroom to get to the primary bedrooms. We think this adds to the charm and hope you do too!

While we regularly spray for bugs and meticulously clean (read reviews :-), the cabin is in the woods so occasionally you may find a harmless bug has made its way inside.

Other things to note
ACCESS TO CABIN: Part of the charm of Evergreen Dunes Cabin is it sits on a hilly wooded acre with a path and approximately 25 stone steps / stepping stones that lead from the driveway to the door. Individuals with mobility issues and/or needing walking aid / assistance may find it difficult to access.

While we do have path and patio lights, it is dark which makes it great for stargazing and feeling away from it all, but it can be tricky navigating. if arriving at night. Detailed directions are included in our welcome guide upon booking.

PETS - We welcome one (well-behaved) pet that must be included on your reservation. If bringing a pet we kindly ask that you pick up after pet and are considerate of sandy / muddy paws tracking into the cabin (you'. Please note, if more than one

The space
Completely remodeled in 2020. Named after our favorite hotel in Switzerland, Huusli is Swiss-German for "little house." As Chicago residents we always looked for a small getaway with charming features, modern amenities and a strong design vibe, but couldn't find something that was within our price range. So we decided to buy the perfect couple's retreat of our dreams, completely remodel it, and share it with you.

The cabin was built in 1951 so please note that the walls are thin and not insulated, and even with the bedroom doors closed you can hear other people from nearly every room. This is why we promote it as a cabin for a couple. Of course you can certainly invite another couple to join, or your friends, but just note the sound issue.

Unfortunately, it's not not set up for toddlers or young children due to the narrow staircase.

We currently do not allow pets.

No keys to lose or to return! This property provides secure, keyless entry with a Yale Smart Lock. A personal entry code issued to you for the duration of your stay.

You will have full access to the cabin and decks. Beach access is 3 blocks away at “Stop 41.5” (map provided in listing photos and in house binder).

Other things to note
The cabin was built in 1951 so the staircase is narrow and the individual steps are "short." Please keep this in mind as both bedrooms are upstairs, bathroom is downstairs, and you will also be bringing your luggage up and down.

As mentioned before, walls are thin and noise carries.

The space
Escape to the Buffalo House, a historic log cabin built in 1932 that oozes charm and character. It's the first prototype of a log home in the village, decorated in an antique hunting cabin style from the 1930s with quirky touches throughout. The main room features fascinating taxidermy that's been there for years, adding to the cabin's unique ambiance.

Spread over two floors, the main floor has four bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a screened-in porch, and a back porch. There are plenty of seating areas and tables throughout, including a dedicated workspace/office with high-speed wifi, making it ideal for remote work or study.

You'll find a games cupboard full of games, puzzles, and many New Yorker jigsaw puzzles, as well as a Smart TV with YouTube TV and the ability to log into all of your streaming apps.

The basement is accessible from the driveway or internal staircase, and features a second bathroom, laundry facilities, a storage area, and an additional fridge.

The kids will love Michiana's new park which is only a few streets away, offering basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts - we provide a pickleball set for your use.

We are steps away from the stunning beaches of Lake Michigan with access the nearby beaches down the stairs on the lake in Michiana, all reachable via Lake Shore Drive.

**BRINGING A PET WITH YOU? We now allow pets at the cabin (it makes for a lot of happy dogs!) so if you are planning to bring a pet with you please ensure that you add the pet as a guest when you are booking.

Beach Rules : If you are bringing a dog between Memorial Day & Labor Day dogs are only allowed on the beach before 11am EST and after 6pm EST.

Please also note - as required by the State of Michigan, all dogs must be on a leash even at the beach and at all public areas. (Michigan, Sec. 287.262; Ord. 235-45)

We do have a $125 pet fee per stay to cover extra cleaning and any damages.

PLEASE NOTE : If you have a pet that is not included in the booking please note that we will charge for the pet during your stay/after your stay to cover extra cleaning charges that we have to cover. Thank you for understanding.

Guest access
You will have the entire house to yourself. We have neighbors around the cabin in the village but most homes are second homes and so it is pretty quiet during the weeks. And most weekends. Summer weekends are busier at the beach but the village remains a sanctuary.

Other things to note
We are one block from the lake. It is a less than a minute walk to the lake and less than a 5 minute walk to the beach off Lakeshore Drive. The beaches all have stairs that lead down to the sand. Any guest at the cabin is able to use any beach in Michiana.

*Please note that the Village of Michiana requires each host to have a form completed by each group of guests. After your booking is confirmed we will send you a link to complete this online so that we can submit the forms to the village office.
