- "The house is lovely -- roomy, beautifully decorated, and fully stocked (linens, paper products, more than ample kitchen equipment and even some food staples.) We had a great time walking to the beaches and throughout the neighborhood, lounging in the jacuzzi, eating on the patio, and roasting marchmellows over the fire pit. One suggestion for future renters: reserve a golf cart before you arrive. We were not aware of this possiblity until we had checked in and saw several carts zipping around the neighborhood. Unfortunately, all of the carts had been reserved because of the boat races scheduled at Michigan City. Nevertheless, we had a great time. We will probably come again."

The beach toy selection was solid and our kiddos loved pulling the wagon of supplies to the beach. The walk to the beach was definitely less than 5 minutes -- even closer than we had anticipated. The beach is on the smaller side but was not at all crowded. The sunset views were indeed great. The house is also a reasonable walk to the playground. The yard across the driveway is large and we even saw a deer come through. Good food was a short drive away, and we got carryout several times. We came from central Indiana and were pleased to have found such a gem without having to travel farther north. (We had one issue but Gina handled it immediately and to our full satisfaction.) One of our very best VRBO experiences. We hope to be back!"

We are on a highway and you can hear cars in the front of the house but the sleeping area in the back is very quiet. Amtrak operates a 100 mph train a few times a day and you will know when it is coming, thankfully they do not run late at night with the last train about 10 PM Michigan time.

The lake level is high this year so the beaches have been reduced but we are 10 minutes from both New Buffalo and Michigan City beaches.

I would stress with one word what you will find in our cottage 'Sanitized'.

We clean this unit ourselves and do not use a service, everything is laundered and bleached, floors are 100% ceramic with throw rugs and you will find the entire home immaculate, I'm sure. You will never find any sign of a pet and we use ozone generators between guests and UV sanitation.

New Buffalo has a slower relaxed pace in late fall and winter We rent throughout the year. Fall and winter can be a very beautiful and relaxing time to take a break. The fall colors can be amazing. Many restaurants offer discounts. Winters can be a absolute gorgeous, serene winter wonderland. This is really the best time to kick back, relax and take some much-needed time for yourself!

- "My husband and I came with two of our grandchildren, ages 3 and 4 to play at the beach. We were hoping to hang out at New Buffalo Beach, but it was very small with limited parking. We went to Warren Dunes State Park instead-a bit further to drive, but more spacious beach. Unfortunately due to weather, we only had part of 2 days at the beach. Our hosts had made suggestions of other activities to do with the kids, which we really appreciated (and needed)! The kids loved the Heston Steam train and the smaller gauge train in Indiana, Oink’s and the Galien River Trail and Lookout! Our cottage was very clean and comfortable-Jan’s flowers around all the properties and gorgeous! Den’s concrete work is cute and creative. The business next door has a huge grey tabby cat that came to visit one morning and made himself right at home on laps! The kids thought he was cute! I appreciated Jan making suggestions for groceries-very helpful and not too far of a drive. Just a suggestion: a pair of kitchen shears and sharp knife in the kitchen and a new dustpan. Beds were comfortable; we enjoyed the deck, fire pit area and the hammock! Truly appreciated Jan and Den’s property and will return."

As you enter the house, you will find a large dining room table with comfortable seating for 8. Virtually everything you need has been thought of. Off the kitchen, you will find a living area that includes a large Sony TV and gas fireplace with comfortable seating to gather with family and friends.

Downstairs is where you will find a large entertainment area with a family room and Sony TV with more comfortable seating to gather. Why not enjoy a game of pool or play games? Walking distance to Beer Church, there's a Rainbow Cone within walking distance as well. Quick drive to Three Oaks if you're interested in Journeyman. You can also walk to the beach, but we chose to drive there upon checking out. We recommend this property! "

- "We were looking for a nice place to stay for a few days after going to Chicago for a wedding and we definitely found the right place! Only 1 hour and 15 minutes from downtown Chicago but we felt the calm of New Buffalo as soon as we drove into town. The calmness was magnified as we settled into this great cottage It was extremely clean, great bed and large peaceful screened in porch. We enjoyed the peace and quiet along with a nice fire in the evening in the fire pit. Downtown NB and Lake Michigan were an easy 5 minute drive but we could have used the bikes provided. We will definitely stay here again."
