- "Looked exactly as listed. Cute and cozy. Communication was easy with owner. Loved the fenced in area for our dog. Great experience. " - "We enjoyed our stay at this peaceful cabin. The details Kris includes are appreciated. We walked into the cabin in the afternoon (super easy check-in) greeted with a basket of goodies with a card and electric candles glowing. The candles turned on/off automatically each day, what a great ambiance they offered. This cabin is the cleanest I've encountered using sites like VRBO. The style is 'comfort' while 'chic' and all the linens are of top notch hotel quality. Puffy, soft, white towels and clean crisp bedding with white bedspreads. The kitchen is stocked with all basic needs - coffee maker, tea kettle, plates/bowls, glasses, silverware, pots/pans, etc. It's a full kitchen so you can cook to prepare meals. Bathroom is surprisingly roomy! Kris uses space so efficiently. There is plenty of counter space for all bathroom items a gal uses. There was PLENTY of hot water, there were 3 humans staying at the cabin and we could all shower without running out of water (and without hurrying!). Bedrooms both had ceiling fans - thank you! We like air circulation so this was appreciated. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of pillow styles/choices to find the right one for you. The outdoor area has plenty of seating for enjoying the view of Lake Wisconsin. The nice touch for providing doggie doo bags was appreciated! They have plenty of games for family fun time. We really enjoyed our stay!"

The Guest Cottage was built for the world renowned Chiropractor, Clarance Gonstead from 1950 - 1952 and designed by Architect, Herb Fritz Jr. in the Prairie Style of architecture made popular by Herb's Mentor, Frank Lloyd Wright. The cottage is centrally located in town on two acres and separated from the main house. The exterior is clad in clay tile and lanon stone and the interior finishes are stone and tide water cypress walls and ceiling with quarry tile and carpet floors.
The hilly local terrain, abandoned level rail road trails and off road trails in the state park provide opportunity for all levels of biking enthusiasts. Old farts can bring your own e-bike and use this as your base to explore the drift-less region. We provide descent gravel trail bikes if you are traveling light. Mount Horeb has a village owned public golf course, public pool and almost weekly organized events within walking distance. The radiant floor heating system and the proximity to down ski hills, cross country trails and an outdoor ice skating rink blocks away, make this an ideal winter retreat, unfortunately we have had to fall in line with all the other inns and discontinue use of the wood burning fireplace to satisfy insurance restrictions so we installed a 4K television with a sound bar that provides the visual and auditory ambience of a variety of wood burning fire places and the floor provides the heat. You also have the flexibility of watching a movie on an internet TV.
The rear bedroom has been converted into a full blown office with a wrap around view of the gardens, "Uplift" sit/stand desk, comfortable office chair, file cabinet and 4K monitor w/ laptop mount on (2) VESA mount floating arms. USB-C, HDMI and Display port compatible.

- "I love staying in unique properties and this definitely was such a property. It was the perfect place for me and my husband. The hosts were helpful and generous. They were available for everything we needed. They provided everything we could have needed for the weekend. I love to cook and had everything I needed for the two dinners I cooked. We brought our own bikes, but there were bikes available for those who don't. The only drawback is that the home doesn't have air conditioning. But the fans and stone walls kept the rooms cool and comfortable. I highly recommend this cottage. I hope we have the opportunity to stay here again."

- "We loved every minute of our stay at this Lake House! I feel that the photos do not even do it justice. Beautifully decorated and it had everything we needed for our 5 night stay. Living room, master and 1 guest bedroom have huge windows with gorgeous views of the lake. Very nice deck on the back of the house with nice grassy large back yard leading to steps down to the dock. The sunsets were beautiful and even though it was July in Wisconsin the nice breeze off the lake in the afternoon and evening made it comfortable to be outside. We have been home for a couple of days now and my husband who grew up in Madison but now lives in Portland, Oregon is still talking about that lake house. I know we will definitely be back!"

- "The cabin we stayed in was well maintained and easily accessible. Frank was there to greet us when we arrived and showed us around. He also had great recommendations for food and things to do. Loved to hear how he revived the whole resort from a few abandoned cabins to this gorgeous city getaway. The view from our balcony was spectacular. Waking up early to watch the sunrise over the lake is a must. We also got to go kayaking ($10/person for the day). We will definitely come next time for the farmers market in Madison!"

- "My husband, our 16 year old daughter, my mother-in-law, and I all stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time! The view of the lake is spectacular and the house is up a little on a hill, so it’s a little more private than some other places around the lake. We appreciated having a dining table outside to relax and enjoy the views, but it was awesome to be able to sit inside on the couch and enjoy the views too! Everything was very clean and comfortable. In case you miss it in the listing - make sure to bring your own toiletries (shampoo/conditioner/body wash) and seasonings (only salt and pepper are provided). The host was responsive and very understanding (I accidentally broke one glass)! I would definitely stay here again!"

- "We looked at a ton of properties online and this one interested us from the very beginning. We hesitated because there were no photos of the bathrooms and there weren't many photos of the house. So glad we took the risk and rented. Just as others reviewed, the property was very clean. The bathrooms are updated. We visited during may fly season so we didn't spend a lot of time outside after dark, but would love to return another time and would definitely stay again."

A 1930's-era classic lake cottage, with log siding, a two story limestone fireplace, wrap-around screened-in porch with views of the lake, knotty pine panelling and open cedar beams. This two bedroom cabin-style vacation home has one bedroom with a queen bed and one with twin beds and an extra sink. There is also a double futon. The screen porch has canvas awnings for shade or privacy. The Great Room has mid-century rattan furniture, and a built-in hutch with mid-century pottery. The kitchen is small, but it has a full-sized fridge, a 4 burner stove, microwave, toaster, two compartment sink, a crock pot, electric griddle and a blender. If you have a bit of nostalgia for the Summer Vacations you had as a kid, this is the place for you! If you're looking for ultra-modern, this may not be the right fit for your family.
The floors are pristine maple in the Great Room and the bedrooms, Marmoleum in the kitchen and LVT in the bath. In addition to the stone fireplace, there is also a gas-powered furnace, or two window AC units for less than perfect conditions. The generously-sized shower is all tiled in, with a light and tall shower head. All doors are triple-thick knotty pine, and the hardware is original hammered bronze. There are some vintage light fixtures: a wagon wheel chandelier in the Great Room, wrought iron & mica lighting on the porch, and some fun mid-century table lamps. There is a Dutch door between the kitchen and the porch, a long picnic table on the porch that seats up to 8, with seating for another 4-6 in the dining area.
Lake Ripley is a lovely 420-acre lake, with an average depth of 44 feet. There are 2 public boat landings, 1 public (drive--1 mile) and one private (walk--.4 mile) beach, and a swimming and fishing pier, within 1/2 a block's walk. There are also 2 single kayaks for your use, with paddles and lifejackets. Easy walk to the pier with kayaks on provided carts, 1/2 block away.
The Glacial-Drumlin and Cam-Rock bike trails are just a few miles away, and it is an easy bike ride into the charming village of Cambridge, with several good coffee shops and restaurants to chose from. Fort Atkinson and Lake Mills are each just 15 minutes away, with fun things to see and do in each town, and Madison is only 30 minutes away, with a vast number of ethnic restaurants, pubs and classic eating establishments.
- "We loved our time at the cottage! We completely relaxed in the quaint environment it provides. The fireplace was like daily therapy for us. But we also appreciated the great Wi-Fi. This is a simple and lovely place to get away from life-as-normal." - "We loved this cabin. It has such a comfortable and charming energy to it. There was plenty of space inside, but that massive porch was a game changer for relaxing evenings. Comfy bed. The shower is tricky, but manageable. Tons of knick knacks and decorations give the interior character and history."

The 'Boathouse' doesn't shelter watercraft anymore, but it does provide a wonderful home on the shore of 3000 acre Lake Kegonsa. It is located at Crown Point Resort in a country setting, but is only 15 minutes from downtown Madison Wisconsin, 20 minutes from the airport, and 2 hours from Chicago's O'Hare airport. Lake Kegonsa (lake of many fishes) is one of the four large lakes starting in Madison and is generally unknown and uncrowded. It is only rented by the week, Sat-Sat from Mid June to mid August. 3 nights min on holidays. There are a lot of stairs down to the cedar sided Boathouse is at water's edge, three levels of spectacular, never ending views. We recommend packing in small duffels. Walking by the Weber charcoal grill and crossing the deck takes you into the middle level, with living and dining areas,a gas fireplace, washer/dryer,full bathroom, and a well stocked kitchen. No pets are allowed.Located at rated #1 Crown Point Resort, the Boathouse also has the VRBO highest rating.
Bring your boat! There is a long pier right out the door that provides bumpers for tie up. The boat launch is 5 minutes away. Gas and bait are also close. For our guests only, we rent a 9 person pontoon boat, 6 kayaks,4 single and 2 doubles, 4 paddleboards, and a peddle boat. As we don't have a sandy beach, most everyone swims off the end of the pier and swim raft. The lake bottom is rocky or sandy. No drop offs or muck. We have other size lake cottages for rent. Call any day 8-6. No pets are allowed. This is not a party house. No bachelor or bachelorette parties.

- "My sister-in-law, niece and I traveled to visit my daughter who lives in a tiny apartment in Madison. This house gave us inside space and a beautiful yard and patio to hang out and visit. It is located in a very cute, walkable neighborhood within walking distance to the lake. One afternoon a huge storm hit and knocked down several trees onto power lines, causing us to lose power. The owner was quick to respond and showed up to give us a cooler, ice packs, flashlights and even thought of bringing us phone chargers. So we went out to dinner, played board games by flashlight for the evening and power was restored by the time we awoke the next morning. The house was very clean and nicely appointed and I can't say enough about the kindness and responsiveness of the owner. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we visit."

Escape to this cozy cabin with friends and family that is situated right next to Okee's only public park/beach giving it endless amounts of water access. This cabin has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath, being able to host up to 8 guests at one time. During the summer, enjoy fishing, swimming, kayaking, or bring you boat and hit up a nearby sandbar! During the winter hit the lake for ice fishing or explore the snowmobile trails!
- "Nice place with a fantastic location on the lake had all that we needed. Even though the small park with beach access next to this property was quite popular with others, it worked out great for us as well. We had several family and friends come by for a visit and having the beach access was especially nice for those with young children. The deck has seating for several and a powered awning for shade. The propane grill saw plenty of use, and the spacious backyard gave us plenty of room to entertain. We rented a pontoon boat locally from Burhops(within walking distance) and it was super convenient to be able to dock using the pier on the property. We frequented the multiple restaurants within walking distance as well as hitting some trails for a bit of exercise. Lodi is a short 5 minute drive away for picking up food, drink, ice, etc. If you plan to do some grilling, we would recommend stopping by Lodi Meat Market, and for a great coffee head to Buttercream Bakery and Coffee Shop. Overall this was a fantastic trip for the 4 of us, we didn't want to leave, and would stay here again! Thank You."

This little split level cottage is very modern and comfortable. It features a double bed and a single sofa sleeper, fully stocked kitchen, bathroom with shower,a-c,wi-fi,flat screen TV,deck with furniture, and a Weber charcoal grill. It has a sliver of a lake view as it is located at the top of the hill. On the shared lakefront, there are kayaks, paddleboards, and a pontoon boat to rent. Swimming is done off of the piers as we have a rocky retaining wall.
- "The property was very well kept, and perfect for the weekend getaway. It’s on the lake, with just a short walk down the path. Frank was very responsive to questions and accommodating. Would definitely recommend!" - "I took my dad here as his 60th birthday/Father’s Day/retirement gift. We both loved the place. We loved the town. Plus it’s only 20 minutes from Madison. There’s a lot to do around the area other than being on the lake. The cabin we had (#3) was perfect size for the two of us. Bathroom was small but it had enough shelf space for everything. Place came with all the essentials in the kitchen and bathroom (no soap or shampoo though). It was a full kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge, coffee maker and toaster. Free WiFi. Deck with our own charcoal grill with chairs and table. There’s kayaks, paddle boat and long boards that costs $10 a day for all 3 for each person. Which is cheaper than most places. You can fish off the pier and go swimming right off of the property (bring water shoes, rocky bottom). I’d definitely come back here with my friends and for a work vacation."
