Relax and have fun with the whole family at this peaceful cabin on Beaver Dam Lake! Every day is a great day on the Lake! Retreat to the lake cabin and be one with nature. Sit on the spacious deck w/breathtaking water views and 70+ feet of water frontage or cozy up inside the open layout. Perfectly for fishing, boating, campfires, beverages and card games. Inside the cabin features 2 bedrooms (queen bed in each bedroom) 1 bathroom plus kitchen and living room (1 pull out sofa bed).
The space
Interior of cabin have 2 bedrooms both have a queen bed in each. Both bedroom have TVs. There is a queen air mattress to sleep 2 more. One bathroom with a shower, sink vanity and toilet. Living room has a sofa and chairs great for relaxing with the family. Full size kitchen with fridge, microwave, oven, and sink. We have a k cup and pot coffee (please bring your own favorite coffee to enjoy). Indoor and outdoor dining area on premise. Bbq grill provided on deck.
Other things to note
We provide bedding and 6 bath towels per stay. There is NO washer and dryer on property please bring extra towels for the lake if desire.

Located directly on a lake but in a country setting, it is only 10 minutes from downtown Madison Wisconsin, 20 minutes from the airport, and 2 hours from Chicago's O'Hare airport. Lake Waubesa is one of the four lakes in Madison, known as the best fishing lake. Barbecue and relax on the deck while being secluded from the wind! Enjoy fabulous morning sunrises over the lake.

The log cabin is located on the lake. One level ranch has 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed. The 2nd bedroom has a bunk bed with a full bed and twin bed on the top. There is a large living room with lake views. Enjoy eating at the table while looking at the lake. Everything you will need to make your stay complete is provided, from linens, towels, a washer and dryer and condiments in the pantry.

We have a kitchen that is fully equipped with cooking and service ware for up to eight guests as well as new appliances. Plenty of pots and pans, dishwasher, microwave, coffeepot, and toaster to make eating in easy.

There is a window air conditioner and many ceiling fans for the summer and if you are staying in the winter we have heat throughout.

The boat launch is 2 minutes away. For our guests we have canoe. We just added a rustic wood 65 foot pier for our guests use(will be in the water from June to August). Most everyone just walks right in at the lake front to swim. The lake bottom is rocky and/or sandy.

Knotty pine walls and vaulted ceilings make our cabin the perfect place for a vacation with family and friends, or a quiet getaway. One block off beautiful Lake Ripley with a private beach that includes a slide and a playground. Lake Ripley has great fishing all year around and is perfect for water sports like water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, paddleboarding and boating. There is a public launch.

Our cabin comes completely furnished with bed linens, bathroom towels and washcloths, washer and dryer. All mattresses and pillows have allergy and bed bug covers on them.

An extra boat lift allows you to bring your own motorboat (for rear-engine single-hull boats). Fast boating only allowed between 11:00 am - 7:30 pm (although mostly concentrated on weekends). Other times reserved for those with a slower pace (kayaks, swimmers, fishing).

Closest city is Cambridge, a gem with a quintessential American small-town main street, pottery/arts community, good restaurants & coffee-shop & ice cream (and laundry). Madison is a short drive away. Other nearby attractions include Camrock trail system, a winery, drive-in movies, and oval racetrack.

- "This was our second time renting this wonderful lake house full of nostalgia. With its classic lake house styling and retro decor, it was so easy to put away the phone and enjoy all of the amenities of simpler times. We listened to records, played games, and enjoyed doing puzzles out on the porch overlooking the beautiful lake. If you can force yourself out of the coziness of the cabin, there is a wonderful dock for nature watching (we saw a bald Eagle), fishing, sunbathing and swimming. The Snellman’s offer a pontoon boat at no additional charge and we spent hours tootling around on the lake. Our family also enjoyed paddle boarding on the lake. There is a fire pit for s’mores and star gazing. The town of Cambridge is a quaint town minutes away with some wonderful places to enjoy breakfast and coffee or to have dinner at Plow. Lake Mills is also a sweet little town with a great brewery, Sunshine Brewing Company. We did pub trivia on Wednesday night and enjoyed a wonderful dinner and awesome beer. Lake Mills is also the place to go for lunch on Fridays when the American Legion opens up their storefront and sells the most delicious hamburgers and cheeseburgers. We enjoyed them in the park across the street. There is also a classic Drive-In theater near this cabin, so there is no shortage of fun things to do around the area. The Snellman’s were extremely accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for the classic lake house experience!"

It was the perfect weekend getaway for my husband, our 13 year who both LOVE TO FISH, and me. They must've caught 20 fish, and I even caught a couple. The cottage is updated, warm and inviting with a master bedroom and couch sleeper with an inflatable mattress in the living room. We cooked the entire time, visit some cute shops in the town of Cambridge, bought vegetables and fruit from the local stand in town and grilled out both nights. The lake was a short 'walk in the park' literally, and everyone was very friendly. I'm a Realtor and the WIFI worked great for me to get my calls and online work done. It took us less than two hours from our house in the northwest burbs of Chicago and was lovely! Highly recommend!!!"

The Orchard House marries the best ideas of traditional architecture with the clean, simple aesthetic of modern design to create a place of comfort, peace, and inspiration. The house takes its exterior cues from the strong geometry and beautiful proportions of the many tobacco barns that have stood in the Dane County countryside for more than a century. Inside, it draws on modern Nordic design principles to create an uncluttered and welcoming retreat.

The interior employs a simple palette of contrasts between white oak and black walnut, white paneling and black steel, white wool and black leather. The restrained design showcases the house’s many windows as a rotating gallery of landscape paintings: the blaze of autumn leaves, winter’s falling snow, spring bloom, and the many shades of summer green.

A vaulted ceiling in the living room, kitchen, and dining area provides a space of imagination and freedom while the nest-like bedroom is a place of privacy and refuge. Floor to above-head-height windows all along the house’s south wall admit sun in a play of light and shadow that works its way across the floors and washes the walls throughout the day. Morning light filters through tree branches and leaves into the bedroom’s eastern window. Evening sunsets fill the dining area’s bank of western windows. Views of the surrounding meadows, orchard, and forest are available from any vantage point in the house. Windows and doors swing wide open to create a permeable boundary between inside and outside and provide cross ventilation in warm seasons. A wood burning fireplace anchors the living space and is the vital heart of the house in cool and cold weather.

The Orchard House’s finishes are made of traditional, natural materials - oak, bronze, steel, walnut, glass, cotton, wool, leather, clay - and they are used in ways they reveal their character rather than obscuring some other material.

Forest Bathing
From April through December, the Orchard House offers a wood fired tub set in a forest clearing. The two-person tub is close enough to the house to make a cold weather run in a bathrobe. It is far enough though to be a completely private escape. Bathing in the tub is a multi-sensory experience: woodsmoke wafts out from crackling and popping wood in the firebox, starlight filters through tree branches swaying overhead, brisk air washes your face while heat rises up out of the water.

The Location
The Orchard House’s location in southeastern Dane County, Wisconsin provides all the advantages of a country retreat with the convenience of close access to the town and city. The house is five minutes from Stoughton’s art galleries, home boutiques, brewpub, third wave coffee shop, and opera house. It’s also less than thirty minutes from the Capitol Square in Madison and the city’s many dining and entertainment options.

The Orchard House is named after the 300 young heirloom and cider apple trees on the farm. The trees bloom in April and May, and guests are welcome to pick apples and raspberries during their August, September, and October stays. Classic 3-Season Cabin/Cottage with wrap-around screen porch & views of beautiful Lake Ripley. Cottage has limestone fireplace, and knotty pine paneling. Use of shared sand beach (1 mile) and shared fishing/swimming pier, (1/2 a block) away. Lake Ripley is a clear 420 acre lake, with an average depth of 44 feet. Enjoy a cup of morning coffee, or the sunset and a glass of wine on the pier benches, or in the rockers on the screened-in porch.

The space
Guests will love the classic lodge feel of this place, with mid-century furnishings, 2 story limestone fireplace, wagon wheel light fixture and knotty pine walls. Favorite spot for all is spacious wrap around screen porch, with views of Lake Ripley. The porch has a full-sized futon and roll-down canvas awnings for shade and privacy.

One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has twins. There are two window AC units, three ceiling fans and 3 other fans for your comfort. For Spring and Fall, there is an upright heater, portable oil-filled space heater, and fireplace. Spring & Fall nights can be chilly, so dress accordingly.

Both bedrooms have handmade quilts, reading lamps and local artwork. Bath has large, tiled in shower, and new dual flush toilet. Kitchen has a full sized fridge, four burner stove, microwave, toaster and blender. There is a gas grill next to the porch.

We are close to bike and hiking trails, paddling opportunities, wineries, brew pubs and restaurants. UW Madison and all the capitol city has to offer within a 30 minute drive. Jefferson County has quaint downtowns and quirky, fun eating, drinking and entertainment establishments.

If you want central AC and all the conveniences of a year-round home, this may not be the right fit for your family. If you’re coming in the Spring or Fall, please be aware that this is a 3 season place, so it can be chilly. We have heat and hot water, but it’s a bit more rustic than a year-round home.

Bed & Bath
Lake Escape has four bedrooms that will comfortably sleep up to twelve family and friends with everyone getting their own twin bed. Each bed has a pillow top, sheets, comforter, pillow and extra blankets. There are two full baths - one with a bathtub and one with a walk-in shower. You also have access to plenty of bath towels, wash cloths, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, as well as a washer & dryer are provided.

Guest access
You have access to the home, yard, and pier. We ask that you do not utilize the garage during your stay. To be good neighbors, please avoid trespassing on our neighbor's property.
