The space
Belfield Farm is a boutique wine farm in the Elgin Valley. We are located close to the city lights of Cape Town (45minutes) but far enough to escape to a softer climate and the incredible beauty of the valley and the surrounding mountains.

Guest access
Guests have access to the homestead and indigenous gardens and may walk on the farm. There are quiet nooks for picnics and birdwatching. Wine tastings can be arranged with Mike. Participation in harvesting and wine-making can also be arranged from late March onwards.

The space
WATER: As our farm sits on a natural spring, you will be able to enjoy longer showers. You can even bring up your washing to the cottage!

In August 2016, we moved from the beautiful bustle of Seapoint to the peaceful Houw Hoek Valley. The cottage we moved into was full of charm but needed some serious TLC. What started off as a "touch-up" quickly snow-balled into a full renovation! We carefully created a space that we loved and that we lived in for a year. We've recently moved onto a larger property but have left the cottage as is. This means it really is a home away from home, with all the bits and bobs you need.

Appliances and finishes are of the highest standard, and we guarantee you a comfortable, clean space.

More importantly though is the location. Set in an old pear orchard on a working farm with magnificent mountain views onto the Kogelberg Biosphere. Watch the seasons change from the perspective of a pear tree... from the snow-white blossom in spring to the pendulous branches of fruit before harvest! Swap hooting cars for hooting owls and barking dogs for croaking frogs!

Pool: The pool is situated 2kms bird eye view from our main cottages. You do have access to the communal pool area.

Guest access
The entire garden and cottage are exclusively for use! A perimeter fence surrounds the garden. Once you have the keys you can come and go as you please!

The pool area is situated 2kms from the cottage - it is a communal pool. The KOL KOL is private to the cottage.

Other things to note
We started this Airbnb following the success of a unit we have in Seapoint, Cape Town. What we have learnt from the process is to be as upfront as possible regarding any details which some guests may be averse to. Please read through the following so there are no surprises when you arrive:

The cottage is situated on a working farm. This means that farm staff may at times be working in the orchard adjacent to the property. The low murmur of people chatting while they work in the orchards should not be distracting but we thought it is worth mentioning.

On rare occasion tractors will move through the orchard spraying the trees. It is however a small orchard so this never takes more than 20 minutes or so.

We have never had any problems with security, but the idea that farmers live with all their doors unlocked is probably a bit outdated. The cottage is 100% secure if all doors are locked so we advise this when you go to sleep or if you leave the cottage during the day. Don't leave valuables outside in the garden overnight or cars unlocked.

DOGS: Please note the fence is a secure fence with larger than normal holes. If you plan to leave your dogs over a longer time, please ask for photos of the fence to get a understanding of the property around you.

Most importantly, Dogs are not to be on couches, even with throws or in the bedrooms. These areas are not permitted if your dog is inside for a short while, A dog bed must be brought with for you animals.
A dog fee of R390 is charged per animal. Max 2 animals, No puppies, R2000 deposit before you arrive.
No animals in any of the bedrooms.

Pool: Pool is situated by the main compound! 2kms bird eye view - There is place around the pool to chill and relax.
