The Bontebok National Park is just outside town. It is the smallest National Park . The park is part of the Cape Floristic Region, which is a World Heritage site.

You can visit the Wildebraam Berry Estate for Liqour Tasting, and berry picking when in season.

The Southernmost Tip of Africa, L’Aghulas is 1 hour and 20 minutes away, you can also visit Waenhuiskrans and the Shipwreck Museum on your way back in Bredasdorp.

Witsand is a small coastal town at the mouth of the Breede River. It is a good fishing area and is widely considered to be the whale nursery of the South African coastline, only a 55 minutes drive, something you will enjoy!

Set in the heart of Swellendam, surrounded by the magnificent Langeberg mountains, these family friendly self catering cottages are perfect if you are looking for a cosy stay in Swellendam. Enjoy the shared outdoor swimming pool and outdoor area to cool off on hot days and hot tub in cooler nights. 5min from the town you can walk to the numerous delis and restaurants. Marloth Nature Reserve for hiking is 5 mins drive. Bontebok Park for game viewing, cycling and nature walks is 10 mins.

The space
LANTERN offers two comfortable self-catering cottages. Thatch Cottage offers a large open plan living, kitchenette and dining area, fully equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. There is a large king size bed with mosquito net and a single bed in the main living area. Ensuite bathroom with and shower.
Fast fibre Wifi is provided free for all of the guests and parking is right beside your cottage.
Big trampoline with safety net will keep your children busy and they most welcome to cuddle our two cats, who is freely exploring the garden.
We do have a hot tub in the garden which keeps you warm during colder days and nights.
Hot tub is for private use for thathed cottage guests. But you will need to be familiar with preparation or read the guidelines well on how to use it. if we are on the property and have enough time, we will be happy to prepare the hot tub for you (for extra fee of R200) with at least 5 hours of notice or you can prepare it your self of no cost. In case we are away you will have clear instructions on how to prepare it your self.
Our units are privately located in a tree and bird-filled garden with a sparkling swimming pool, BBQ area and the tranquility of the countryside. This area is shared with other guests from our Karoo cottage. LANTERN is 800m from the town centre and is surrounded by restaurants, museums, golf, hiking and biking trails, Bontebok and Marloth Nature Reserves. If you feel like driving to the sea side then you can reach within one hour beautiful sandy beaches of De Hoop and Witsand.
