It was a fun experience, and I had the opportunity to chat with the other guests. I highly recommend staying at Billie’s." - "This Hostel is a wonderful find! It is on bus routes for easy transportation, and near several eateries. Relax in your private room with a private bathroom in a nicely remodeled Tudor-style house in the Mendenhall Valley. This affordable accommodation is one room in a shared, five-bedroom, three-bath home. We rent each room separately. Grandma's Bedroom is on the second level of the property.
Your private room features a king bed, two nightstands, lamp, dresser, casual chair, mirror, and private bathroom.
The home boasts granite countertops, and large open spaces. It has three full bathrooms, a TV room, living room, kitchen, dining, and laundry rooms. The house is peaceful and comfortable - friendly people mostly keep to themselves. The bus stop is steps from the front door, and the house has plenty of parking. It is 2.5 miles from the airport.
Self check-in with a lockbox, so late arrival is not a problem.
Check-in is at 4 pm, and check out is at 11 am. Early arrival and late departure may be available for a fee of $50.
Host, Kelli, is a co-owner of a tour company with over 25 tours throughout Alaska, and offers a 10% discount on the tours to our guests. Popular tours offered in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, and Sitka include whale watching, salmon bakes, river rafting, kayaking, canoe tours, boat tours, hiking, gold panning, private cars, Mendenhall Glacier tours, jeep tours, Alaska RV and Cruise tour packages, and more. If you are interested in this discount, ask us for the details.
We strive to provide the best customer service and improve as we go with feedback from our guests. We hope to earn your five-star review! Please understand that reviews drive our business. A rating lower than 5-stars based on amenities we do not promise or things we can not change, such as location, will hurt our business. Please be honest, but rate the property based on the promises we make.
We Promise:
Easy check-in process! You will self-check in with a lock box. Details will be emailed to you five days prior to arrival or upon booking, if within five days. You will access the rental at your leisure after 4 pm. Early check-in may be available for a $50 fee.
Great Communication! We are known to be responsive to guests before, during, and after their stay. You can expect prompt responses to your questions.
Clean Accommodations! – Your private room should be sparkling clean. The common areas are cleaned twice per month, so we can't guarantee the status of the house upon your arrival as other people will likely be there actively using the home.
Great Mendenhall Valley Location! – It's steps from the city bus stop and two miles from the famous Mendenhall Glacier which you can get to by car or foot via a paved bike path or gravel trail. You can take the bus for one mile and walk the second mile. This is not a downtown Juneau property. Downtown Juneau is substantially more expensive than the Mendenhall Valley. This location, for the price, should not be compared to downtown. If you want to be downtown, and don't want to take a 45 minute bus ride to go 16 miles, then this space is not for you.
Accurate Description of the space! - We try to make continuous improvements when guests make suggestions and do our best to keep the changes updated and published. If we miss anything, please let us know. We will fix it. If you are missing something you were counting on, please tell us immediately, so we can try to provide it for your stay.
Great Value! – Juneau is expensive, especially during peak season. While this is a more affordable option, we understand it can still be expensive. The price fluctuates depending on the season. We have long, slow periods here in Alaska.
- "My friend and I stayed here for a few days of vacation in Juneau. We had a vehicle so that made our stay super convenient as we were near the airport and ferry terminal, and could easily make the drive into downtown when we wanted. The house was super clean and tidy, room was comfortable and check in was very easy. Only note was there was a massive wasp nest outside of the bedroom window which was interesting to watch but meant we couldn’t open the windows! I passed this on to the host who sounded like they would deal with it as soon as they could. Overall great stay."

Relax in your private room in a nicely remodeled Tudor-style house, conveniently located in the Mendenhall Valley. This affordable accommodation is a private room in a shared five bedroom three bath home. On some booking platforms this may have a caption that indicates it is an entire private space, but it isn't. We don't have the ability to change the categories in some cases. This room is ideal for one person, therefore the advertised price is for single occupancy. We will accommodate a second person upon request.Your private room in the hostel has a queen bed, night stand with lamp, dresser with large mirror, casual chair, and lots of closet and floor space. Mendenhall Room is on the second level of the property.
This home boasts granite countertops, and large open spaces. It has three full bathrooms, a TV room, living room, kitchen, dining, and laundry rooms. The house is peaceful and comfortable, where people are friendly, and mostly keep to themselves. The bus stop is steps away from the front door, and the house has plenty of parking. It's 2.5 miles from the airport, 2 miles from the famous Mendenhall Glacier, less than a mile from Duck Creek Market convenient store (about a 15 minute walk), 4.5 miles from the University of Alaska, 6 miles from the ferry terminal. Walk to the glacier on the bike path or along nearby trails that run behind the house. Other occupants in the house include long-term residents so all of your supplies and amenities are in your room. You will have a bathroom and kitchen caddy, with your shampoo, soap, cleaning supplies, towels, etc… in it, so you'll be set with all you need.
Aunt Margaret, lived in this house for over 30 years, and always had a room for someone who needed one. Kelli has continued to keep this house available for affordable housing for long-term residents and Alaska visitors. Your private, rented room will be clean and ready for you. The condition of the house is that of reasonable living with roommates. You'll have your own shelf in the refrigerator and are welcome to use any of the supplies/equipment in the kitchen and enjoy use of all common areas. We will strive to provide the best customer service and improve as we go with feedback from our guests. We hope to earn your five-star review! Your expectations should be limited to what is promised here, and reviews should reflect how we did with these promises. Before submitting your review, please remember to base it on the following criteria and what was promised to be provided for the price paid as follows:
Easy check-in process – You'll be able to self-check in. Kelli will give you check-in details prior to arrival, including a lock box code. You'll be able to access the rental at your leisure after check-in time, at 4pm. We offer early check-in options, if it's available a couple days prior to your arrival for $25-$50, depending on your arrival time.
Great Communication – Kelli is known to be responsive to guests before, during, and after their stay. You can expect prompt responses to your questions. She'll respond to web site messages as soon as she can.
Clean Accommodations – Your private apartment should be sparkling clean.
Great Mendenhall Valley Location – It's steps from the city bus stop and two miles from the famous Mendenhall Glacier which you can get to by car, or walking on a paved bike path or gravel trail. Great Value – Juneau is expensive, especially during peak season, and while this is a more affordable option, we understand that it can seem expensive. Part of the value is the ability to rent for only one night and have an additional person. The price fluctuates depending on the season. We have to charge more when the business is there, so that we can afford to have it vacant for long, slow periods.
