- "All good as expected. To me the employees make the difference. They were all friendly and natural at being so." - "We were in the area for a tournament and had a Saturday night stay at Drury Inn. I have to say that I was very impressed with this hotel and am glad we were able to book our stay there! From the popcorn machine in the lobby to the 530-7pm Kickback snacks/dinner and drinks (all free!), we felt like we were treating ourselves to a real weekend getaway, even with the tournament schedule! Pros: Very clean in room and throughout the whole property (including dining areas and pool); breakfast was fully stocked with choices in both hot (eggs, sausage, gravy, oatmeal, etc) and cold (cereals, milk/juices, yogurt) as well as fresh fruit and coffee. Cons: Really, there's only two I can think of and both can be worked out if there's time for planning ahead. 1) If it's a busy night/weekend, you will know right away by all the activity in and around the lobby. The pool was VERY popular the whole time we were there and it was BUSY. There was a staff member near the door keeping track of occupancy to manage that chaos to the best of her ability. She was friendly and did her job very well, even when she had to turn people away at times. Just be a good guest and follow the rules...and don't be rude and not give others a chance to enjoy the facilities. 2) Request a room on the lowest floor possible. This hotel has eight floors and the elevators are busy. We sometimes took the stairs when in a hurry (to/from sixth floor). The staff here were great and I'd stay again when in the area. "

I explained and they had solutions. The staff was exceptional, everyone worked hard, smiling *NOT on their phones. Very attentive to guests and going out of their way to take care of each guest as they were able. Very Impressed with almost everything about this place. This is the first time we've been that the hot tub was luke warm. I got in anyway due to having back surgery recently (didn't submerge the area) and would have loved a nice hot tub experience on the leg that was affected by the ruptured disk surgery. The lack of hot water almost got to me, but our Christmas was spent in a nice hotel with our now grown young people and we couldn't have asked for more. The other thing I noticed was during the meals, things did get messy on the counters and around the area floors. Staff was quickly there to make up for the mess. This group of people are exceptional in my opinion. Oh yea, did I mention it was Christmas? They worked with smiles, helpful information, and a cheery disposition throughout the stay. Thank you staff, not only for working, but having a wonderful attitude. You helped make our Christmas brighter. "

The space
We bought the Old LaSalle Bed and Breakfast in late September of 2017. It had sat dormant for about a year, and we are slowly bringing it back as a Guest House. The Sion Bass Guest House has 6 "Hotel Suite" style rooms, each with a luxury Spa Style attached bathroom. The building is equipped with smart locks, where you use a door code to check yourself in, and come and go as you wish. There is not a permanent staff on property, however, Mike and his family live a few blocks away.

The home was built by Union Colonel Sion Bass, who commanded the Indiana 30th in the Civil War. The home is decked out with a Civil War theme, with pictures of Sion and his men. This is in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, with Starbucks a Frisbee throw away, restaurants, and activity in all directions.

The Foster Suite is right inside the front door. If you are the lightest of sleepers, and require no disturbances, please select another Suite in the Guest House. Other guests will have 24/7 access the front door that is right outside this suite. We are also on a major Blvd in downtown Fort Wayne. The Foster Suite is in the front of the Guest House, close to the street.

Guest access
Enjoy the common sitting/main gathering room on the main floor. Free parking is provided on site right behind the building.

Other things to note
This is a shared guest house. Think of a small hotel. There is a "lobby" downstairs, with Suites throughout the home.

The Guest House is on one of downtown's busiest streets. The Foster Suite is at the front of the Guest House. There is Traffic noise and street lights. If you are a very light sleeper, please book a suite to the back of the home. The McCulloch and Lawton Suites are very quiet.

The Foster Suite is adjacent to the front door. The main door smart lock does beep when accessed. Should other guests come and go at odd hours, the lock will make beeps as the code is entered. There will also be general noise from entering and exiting the home as other guests come and go.
