Feel rested and at peace when you stay in the rustic yet chic cabin known as the Lazy Larch. This self-contained 230 sq. ft. cabin is full of cozy charm and warmth. Nestled in the middle of a small field, it offers views of the pond, a tamarack forest, and stunning sunsets from the covered deck. In the winter months, you can enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or walking the 2 to 5 km loops of trails. Our resident chickens provide fresh farm eggs for breakfast, and we supply the coffee and tea to start your day right. The galley kitchen is fully equipped with all the amenities you need, including a full fridge, gas stove with oven, microwave, coffee maker, and all the cookware you'll require.

Bring your fishing rod and try your luck at the stocked trout pond, or simply relax on the cuddle couch with a good book. Firepits and wood are provided for wonderful marshmallow roasts. Just 6 km from Rocky Mountain House, our property is a short drive to the beautiful Abraham Lake and the community of Nordegg. Crimson Lake is only 15 minutes away, offering opportunities for boating, paddleboarding, and enjoying lovely beaches. There are also countless backcountry trails perfect for horseback riding. If you’re an equestrian, we provide a great place to bring your horse for an overnight stay or to participate in local clinics. We are located 20 minutes Northwest from the town of Rocky Mountain House close to the Crimson Lake Provincial Park. We will only give the exact location once the property has been booked for privacy and safety reasons. Our property features its own trails and forest. For added enjoyment we are 7km from the Crimson Lake Provincial Park and a convenient 20 minute drive from the town of Rocky Mountain House.

Chip's Cabin is a self-contained cabin with an upstairs loft that includes 2 double beds while the main floor has a double pull out sofa, a 3-Piece bathroom and a full kitchen. The owners live on the property in separate housing. Guests have Chip's Cabin to themselves.

The deck has a great view of the Alberta foothills with access to your own BBQ and views of the horses in the pasture. A communal fir pit is available depending fire bans and weather permitting.

Inquires for more than 3 people will not be accepted. We do not do long term rentals. As this is a working ranch and for privacy reasons, we do not allow visitors who are not registered guests on the property.

Our home in Rocky offers the perfect stopping point for your adventures in the west country. Retired from Fish & Wildlife with many years of experience in the area, and active in the outdoors, Rocky offers good advice for your visit to the area. Self-serve breakfast items are supplied in the room for stays of 6 nights or less. For information on longer stays see “other details.”

The space
The bright bedroom offers the comfort of a queen size bed, luggage rack, fridge, microwave, kettle and keurig. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cream and sweeteners are provided, plus bottled water. The room has a closet with hangers, and space for folded items. The adjacent living room with cable TV is for your sole use. A wall-mounted fold-up table and chairs are available for eating, or as a laptop work space. Free WiFi is included. The sparkling European style private bathroom boasts a luxurious rain shower head, plump towels as well as shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Although the main entrance is used by us as well, it is on the same level as the guest room so there's no need to worry about interfering with our living area.

Since this is our home we will be upstairs most of the time but we are happy to have as much or as little interaction as you prefer. Or if you just want to know where the best coffee or restaurant in town is located, we're happy to help.

Other things to note
We are open to longer stays at a discount, but please note we do not have cooking facilities in the space. Stays of 7 nights or longer will have a 15% discount, and stays of 4 weeks or longer will have a 30% discount, and finally stays of 8 weeks or longer will get a 40% discount. For stays of seven days or longer (where discount is applied), breakfast items are not supplied. However, bottled water and hot drinks will remain included.

There are pets in the home (2 cats and a dog) This cozy room has its own 22” tv, this is a small room however there is a shared living room in the house with a 55” tv. The kitchen is shared by guests from 2 suits and the home owner. There is 1 shared full bathroom centrally located. There is hot tub access through the back door where there is also an outdoor dining area with a smoker BBQ and a propane pizza oven. The washer and dryer is located by the back door.

Guests staying in this home have access to all amenities. Each guest room has its own lock for privacy. The laundry facilities is located on the main level at the back door. The basement has permanent residents and is off limits. The back and front yard may be enjoyed by all.

This main floor legal suite has been fully renovated from one end to the other. New windows, doors, insulation, flooring, kitchen, and bathroom, this really does feel like a brand new home. It is clean, sharp, and bright, and allows for all the comforts of home while you and your group are on the road. Because this is a new listing, more amenities will be coming soon. Feel free to leave your suggestions and I will do what I can to accommodate!

The space
This suite has been completely renovated for a smart, clean, and modern look. All beds and linens are brand new as of October 2023. The bathroom is beautifully tiled and bright through the glass shower doors over the full-size tub. The kitchen is fully stocked with all major cooking necessities, and the fridge is stocked with your most common condiments. The master bedroom is a decent size, although the two other rooms are certainly much smaller.

Complete main floor suite with secure, private entrance and access via digital door lock. The suite is accessible through the front door up the 3 steps next to the picture window. You are free to use the entire main floor space as your comfort requires. A door code will be sent prior to check-in. Located on a private property off a main road, there is a long gated driveway to the Lazy Larch. Parking is behind the two white sheds in front of the green gate. Electric cords are there for the cold morning starts. Parking is 20ft from the Larch.

Other things to note
While staying with us, please ensure that all dogs are on a leash at all times. This is a working acreage, so you can expect to hear and see quads, tractors, dogs, cats, and chickens. Although our animals may look cute and friendly, please do not feed them, even if they seem to be begging for a snack. There are friendly dogs and children on the property, so we ask that you drive cautiously when moving through the yard.
If you choose to use the trails, please do so at your own risk, as this is crown land. You may encounter wildlife or experience boggy walking conditions.
