River s Edge West is located in the heart of downtown Apalachicola near Oyster City Brewery and night life. It has a queen bed and queen sleeper sofa which can easily accommodate four travelers. The coffee bar constructed of old river cypress has under counter refrigerator, coffee station and hot plate for your convenience. Your room is located on the second floor of the newly constructed building. Entrance is via the street side entrance and stairwell. You must be able to navigate stairs since we do not have an elevator to the second story. Your private bathroom has a walk in shower with glass tile block, river rock and porcelain tile to relax in after a day at the beach or a night on the town. Tastefully decorated but not frumpy River s Edge West has the feel of old Apalachicola.

From the moment you ascend the stairs and open the 100+ year old front door, you know this will be the first of a tradition of your visits to the Moon! This is a one bedroom / one bath Loft with a kitchenette & eating area looking out to your own personal Bridge balcony. The Loft was built using true southern restoration pieces like an antique farm sink and 100+ year old cub-bards from the McDonald homestead in South Georgia. Reclaimed cypress beams accent the sliding barn door which is also a refinished piece which is about 150 years old as well. The shabby chic mantel is also from a home in the original neighborhood of the legendary 'Doc Holliday' who was from Lowndes County (just over the Georgia/Florida line).

While history is all around, the modern-day oversized Garden Tub bath awaits you to ease away the time and relax. Then 'above it all' are the huge skylights constructed through the tin ceiling. From the ultra plush pillowtop bed, You can lie back and count the stars or watch the clouds roll by after an afternoon restful retreat.

This property is a unique and well appointed floating condo with all updated features. It has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a double bed. There is 1.5 bathrooms which share a shower but still retain complete privacy for each bedroom's occupants. The kitchen has all of the features of a modern home such as a full size refrigerator, new stove and microwave. Small appliances include a coffee maker (coffee provided), blender, toaster, electric can opener along with dishes and glasses and more. The kitchen surfaces are solid Corian with indoor dining seating available for 4. All furnishings are very upscale. The art features a local artist, Tom Tiffin, who has captured a very authentic portrayal of a local shrimp fishing boat. The best feature is the large front porch which offers a spectacular views of both sunrises by looking to the right and sunsets on your left. There are always either boats, fish or birds to view from your porch. Today, I saw 2 dolphins swim by. This area includes seating for 6.. The all electric 950 sq. ft. houseboat offers all of the modern systems including an easily controlled air conditioner/heating system It has an aluminum hull and is surrounded by a new floating dock system which makes getting off and on a breeze. A comfortable temperature can be maintained at all times of the year by merely opening the front and back doors to the river breezes. This is indeed a wonderful way to spend a relaxing and comfortable vacation.

There are fishing rods available onboard for your afternoon relaxation. Parking is only a few steps from your vacation houseboat.

Just a 5 minute walk to town as your floating home is moored just a couple of blocks from downtown Apalachicola. You may spend your time browsing the shops and art galleries in the area or dine at the many restaurants in town which specialize in the fresh seafood of the area. The famous Up the Creek Restaurant and Raw Bar is located right next door and serves the best oysters in town along with a variety of other fish, chicken or beef. For more upscale dining, there is the Owl Cafe and the Gibson Inn which serve a variety of dishes. The freshest fish and seafood in town is served at the Station. Downtown Apalachicola's shops, restaurants and bars are only a 2 or 3 block walk from your floating home.
For the beach lovers, a twilight stroll along with beaches of St. George Island is a short 15 minute drive away. The panhandle beaches with their white sandy beaches are rated some of the best in the United States. You can get a panoramic view of the surrounding area by walking to the top of the St. George Island lighthouse. For sunbathing, the State Park is the best kept secret with a very secluded beach for your enjoyment.

She gave us a little history of the town & her boat rentals. If you are looking for a small town to go & relax, then this is the place for you. We spent alot of our time just relaxing on the back deck enjoying the water. This town is a no-frills, laid back, friendly , quite place. The stores / restaurants close pretty early & some places are closed on Sunday / Monday. It is worth the drive to take the bridge over to St. George. The beach at the State Park there was absolutely perfect. No crowds & the softest sand ever. We went into this vacation looking for relaxation in a non-tourist trap atmosphere and that is exactly what we got. Everything was GREAT! Thank you Karen for offering such an awesome rental."

This campsite is waterfront on the Apalachicola Bay with electricty, water, solar lighting, and a private dock. There is no waste water or sewage dump at this site. Waste dump can be found at the county landfill on Hwy 65. The campsite is located only 2 miles from downtown waterfront restaurants and shopping. Only 15 minute drive east to the white sandy beaches at St. George Island. If you head about 35-30 mins west you will arrive in Port St. Joe close to Indian Pass, and Cape San Blas.

The space
This is a campsite with water, electricity, solar powered utility lighting, and a private dock. No waste dump. There is a waste dump at the county landfill on Hwy 65. The campsite area extends from the wooden privacy fence to the utility pole and to the end of the dock. Parking is allowed keeping to the left of the privacy fence. Ace Hardware and Marathon service station and convenience store are conveniently located across the road. There is a Dollar General and a family Dollar within walking distance as well as a Burger King. There is a gas powered Yamaha golf cart that is kept on the property at $65 a day. Relax at this peaceful, recently renovated home with original hardwood floors and front porch swing. It’s located on an acre of beautiful flowering plants and fruit trees. Our cozy cottage is only two blocks from the Apalachicola Bay and two miles from downtown Apalachicola for shopping and restaurants. The first floor of The Majestic Jewel is furnished in an eclectic mixture of antiques & art. All modern amenities that were added, were designed to blend with the look of this majestic home.

The Cypress walls of the Grand Salon, Formal Dining Room & prestigious staircase are so well preserved and certainly show the lost art of wood work.
The hardwood floors thru out are also original.

Attached to the back of the house was a bank. Although the vault, teller counter & drive thru still remain it has been converted in a Hospitality Lobby & kitchenette for guests.

Most spacious & luxurious suite on the 1st floor of the Majestic Jewel Inn! The EBONY ROUGE SUITE is furnished with a super comfy KING SIZE bed & fine linens! The bay window has a nice sitting area with a great view! This suite includes a private full bath as well as a quirky "shower closet". Soak in the huge tub or take a sit-down shower. For guests who prefer a stand up shower, we recently added a "shower closet" which is separate from the full bath & opens up into the bedroom.

The space
Our home was built in 1908 by Adolph Flatauer, a German immigrant who achieved great success in Apalachicola. One of it's most amazing features is the Grand Foyer with the original cypress walls & ceiling as well as hand carved wood work decorating the staircase. Nine hundred custom spindles were made for the upper & lower wrap around veranda! The 4th floor Windows Walk is the highest point in town! It's no wonder why the locals refer to it as "THE JEWEL OF APALACHICOLA". Last but not least! It was home to Gulf State Community Bank back in the 80's! The vaults, lobby & drive thru still remain!

Five additional rental suites available in the Majestic Jewel: 1st floor~Ivory Pearl, Vintage Rose and Studio Liberty. 2nd floor~ Green with Envy and Autumn Moon.

Greg & June divide their time between their home in Atlanta & Apalachicola, normally spending about 70% of their time in Apalachicola. They welcome requests from guests who would like them to be there while they visit.

Although the Majestic Jewel is not a bed & breakfast we do offer a lot of lagniappe; self serve coffee, tea, cold drinks, bottled water, oatmeal, milk & cereal PLUS an amazing environment to mix & mingle or simply sit back & relax!

You can also walk everywhere! We are in the center of everything that Apalachicola offers. Galleries, shops, restaurants, pubs, parks, river wharf. fishing pier on the bay, all just blocks away! History & beauty surround us!

The Beaches of St. George Island are only a 10 Minute drive & Cape San Blas 25 minutes. So much to see & do.

Beaches, Bay, River, Historic Apalachicola

The space
Private room with a private, electronic, outdoor entrance, deck and private bathroom. We also have a swimming pool. It works like a hotel room w/ private self/check-in. There is plenty of parking in case you bring a boat or trailer etc… The bathroom has recently been remodeled and has a new shower in place of the garden tub. The bedroom has a portable, powerful a/c that allows you to control the room temperature. There is also a heater, an electric fireplace, internet, television, ceiling fan, microwave, coffee pot, and a mini-fridge. The deck is also private and shaded with a table, chairs and charcoal grill.
We are located in a quiet and safe neighborhood. The bedroom and bathroom stay locked off from rest of the house. We provide clean linens, towels, soap and coffee filters. We are located a half mile from the bay and dock/landing/park, 3 miles from downtown/The Apalachicola River, and 15 minutes from beautiful St. George Island to our east, 15-20 minutes to our west are the beaches of Port St. Joe, Indian Pass, and Cape San Blas. Mexico Beach is just west of Port St. Joe. Enjoy historic Apalachicola!

HVAC: please select heating or cold on the thermostat

Do not leave the doors open for an extended period of time.

Coffee Maker: for your use I will provide coffee and coffee maker filters, sugar and creamer

Dishes : Please wash your dishes while you are staying and the day you leave please load the dishwasher and turn it on. Dishwashing soap and dishwasher liquid/tablets are located under the sink in the kitchen.

Sink: please do not wash large food items down the sink.

Kitchen : Please remove all food items from the house when you depart.

Linens and towels : Linens and towels will be washed upon your departure. Please leave the towels in the bathtubs and leave your beds unmade.

Additional linens and bedding are in the closet.

Trash : Please put only bagged trash in the garbage can outside. The trash is picked up on Wednesday If your stay is on a Wednesday , we kindly ask that you roll the can to the curb for pick up service.

TV operation : The house is equipped with a 65 inch television fire stick -enabled smart TV. You can login to any of the TV apps that you wish using your own credentials.

Rivers's Edge East is located in the heart of the downtown historic district near all of your favorite restaurants, nightlife and shopping . It is new construction filled with antiques and old Apalachicola style. You have your own balcony which faces east and the morning sunrise over the Apalachicola River. Enjoy your morning coffee and the sound of gulls as the village starts a new day. We are easy driving distance to both St. George Island, Indian Pass, and Cape San Blas.
