- "This property was centrally located in town, but had amazing views of the mountains and a creek in the yard. The owners were super nice, helpful when we had hiking questions, but unobtrusive otherwise. This was a very nice stay." - "Excellent location, quite , spacious , all amenities just love staying there! The hosts are great" - "We enjoyed our stay very much. The home was very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the large deck that overlooked the creek and had a beautiful view of the Sierras. The bed was really comfortable! There are stairs involved between the bathroom and living area, and also between the bedroom and livingroom/kitchen. If accesibility is a concern, this would not be ideal for you, but we are 'seniors' and it didn't bother us at all. We would definetly stay again!"

- "Very comfortable room. Extremely convenient location; walkable to a lot of great places. Robin is very communicative!" - "We loved our stay but a few things could have been better. We had to move the beds to find the outlets since we both have Cpap machines. It was very dusty in the corners under the beds. The bed I slept in (on the right when facing the beds) felt like it needs replacing. I had to sleep diagonally in order to avoid feeling like I was going to roll off the edge of the bed. The coffee machine didn't work properly (or we couldn't figure it out, especially since there were no instructions) but I was at least able to heat up water to make tea. The bathroom, though compact, was beautiful but it needs better ventilation. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in the Parlor Suite and would recommend it."

There is no TV, but there is secure, fast WiFi. Many guests have happily worked remotely while living here.

The kitchen is small, with a smaller refrigerator, but has worked well for guests since I started renting it out short-term in 2018. I also keep 2 cases of Crystal Geyser water in fridge, mostly because an empty refrigerator will constantly run. Welcome to drink it, but the guy who tested my well water said my water is better than ANY bottled water there is! Keurig w/pods (included) or Full pot Cuisinart brewer, no filters required, (coffee not included), Huge tea selection (included). Big BBQ and all the accessories to cook with. Outside chairs and table for Happy Hour, or. coffee, with best views ever! Umbrella available, on request. Washer & dryer. 95% of all the artwork in the house is from Vern Clevenger Fine Art Gallery (High End).
Windows whole house are all mirrored on the outside. No one can see in, even from 2ft away*, (*Mirrored during daytime only! They are clear during darkness hours. Not that there's anyone around that could see in anyways).
Super quiet neighborhood and I really only have 1 neighbor family who's rarely there. Most property lots in the Mustang Mesa neighborhood are either 1/2 acre, 3/4 acre, or 1 acre. I have 5.5 acres I bought for 2 purposes. No neighbors and most of all no one can ever build and block my views! Improved area is 2.2 acres.
Note: The 3 trees in the big barrels in pics are now 3 barrels with new evergreen plants that will eventually grow big. As of July 2024 I had to move the trees off the patio because they had rooted through barrels and into the patio pavers & planter as well. Lucky I caught it or would've ruined pavers & patio!
Guest access
Plenty of parking. Come and go as you please. I can actually accommodate a motorhome and supply hookups, But that is a lot extra. 2.2 acre improved property, with 5.5 acres total. Off-road, whether it be bicycles, ATV's, dirt bikes, or walking/hiking and access the entire Owens Valley from this property. Or just take a walk down to the river, or a 3/4 mile walk to Pleasant Valley Reservoir. Tons of fishing within close access!
Other things to note
Stunning views with 100% privacy and tranquility. All windows are mirrored during the day. No one can see in (unless they press their face to glass and cup their hands LOL). Simply won't happen!
With the 42 panel solar system, and the septic filtration system that filters the gray water to a drinkable state, (tho I've never tried it....barf lol), but the water that goes back into the ground is filtered to that point making this property very green friendly!
Also have a big generator that runs the water well pump, septic filtration system, as well as the whole house, so power outages are a non-issue. Note: I will not run the generator 24/7. Off at bedtime, or if renter is gone for the day etc.

Moonlight is a cozy cabin, tucked in the Inyo National Forest.
Moonlight is one of fourteen cabins at Cardinal Village Resort that sit on the five-acre mill site of what was once a roaring gold mine; this cabin used to house miners!
It’s near the roaring Bishop Creek + is host to many small weddings in its lovely private meadow.
The space
Cardinal Village was once a gold mine operating from 1895 - 1936. In 1946, the abandoned mine was turned into Cardinal Village, an ever popular fishing destination, by the McLaurin family.
It has been under the stewardship of the Cluff family since 1985.
The resort is open for its “regular” season from the end of April - the end of October every year.
All fourteen cabins are open, the Cafe is open, and the Store is open during this regular season.
For the winter season or “off season”, you’ll find the Resort quiet + a perfect retreat into the wilderness.
Moonlight is one of the four cabins we have open during the “off season.”
You are welcome to wander around the property! And take a short hike up to the Gold Mine for a fun adventure!
Cardinal Pond is a less-than-two minute walk from your cabin. It is often completely frozen over during the winter, and we have ice skates available to borrow!
Our pets, Pat, Mushu, and Kit, are not welcome in any of the cabins.
Pets are not allowed in any of the cabins — including ours.
We will call them in at night.
We are tucked in the forest; coyotes, bears, deer, and other wildlife do roam. Because of this, we ask that all food be kept inside. We suggest all food be brought in from the car and no coolers be left outside on your front porch.
Guest access
This is your own private cabin. The meadow is private to you as well.
