The house is located a five hundred yards upriver on the opposite bank from the Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge, just upstream the Upper River rapids. The living set up is ideal for a romantic couple, a family of 6 or 4-5 friends. Moose, bear, bald eagles, beavers, goats and mountain sheep are commonly seen from the property. Outside there are plentiful wild raspberries in late summer, an outdoor sauna and wade fishing for Rainbows and Dollies.

Wildlife viewing from the property in May can be fantastic before the river opens for fishing. Bald eagles frequently hunt from the trees in the backyard during the early season. The fly fishing for trophy rainbow trout and Dolly Varden on the upper river is tremendous between July and late October. In late September and October silver salmon begin to spawn in the river behind the house.

The fall season in Cooper Landing is arguably the most beautiful time of the year. As the summer season comes to an end the rainbow trout and silver salmon fishing is at its peak as the deciduous trees turn bright yellow and orange.

The Kenai River is open for fishing between June 11th and May 1st. The ADF&G website is a great source of information on the latest fishing regulations.

There is about 130 feet of low bank river frontage and an additional 700 feet of wade access under normal water conditions. The Shackleford Creek Mountain House is located approximately 102 miles or 2 hours south of Anchorage at the head waters of the Upper Kenai River. We are located on Snug Harbor Road in the shadow of Mt. Cecil Rhodes (4400 feet/1341 meters). We are surrounded by Kenai Borough and Chugach National Forest land comprising of spruce, birch, alder willow and aspen. The setting is quiet and private.

There are two good size bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen sized sleigh bed with large bay windows that provide views of the surrounding mountains and woods. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed with a twin bunk bed. The loft is open with exposed wood beams and many large bay windows that provide commanding views of Mt Cecil Rhodes and surrounding woods. The feel is that of an enclosed tree house. The loft contains one queen four poster bed, two twin beds as well as a fold out double sized futon couch. The bathroom has a shower and claw-foot bathtub looking out at the surrounding forest.

The kitchen is fully outfitted with pots, pans, dishes, a full sized refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, bar seating for five along with a dining table.

A wood stove provides cozy heat and the outdoor 5-person hot-tub is perfect for relaxing after a hard day playing. The deck faces south, so when the sun is out the deck receives lots of sun, has a picnic table and gas grill. The separate gear shed is set up for storing your fishing gear and also has a chest freezer for storing your catch of the day.

It is a special place where we join family and friends to explore the mountains, lakes, rivers and trails that are located in and around Cooper Landing. We are located a mile from the town center where multiple fish and river guides base their operations. Access to the world renown Kenai River for salmon and trout fishing is minutes away. For those seeking to hike and mountain bike the trail heads are all within minutes of the house. The communities of Seward, Kenai and Homer are an easy drive from Cooper Landing and offer a broad spectrum of activities from Glacier viewing to Whale watching to Halibut fishing and more.

The design of the house is open and well suited for couples and families with kids older than 3 looking to explore the wonders of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula as well as kick back and enjoy the peace and solitude that is such a part of life here in Cooper Landing. HOUSE RULES and GENERAL NOTES:
1. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others.

2. Quiet time from 10 p.m. – 8 a.m. Please be respectful of our neighbors.
3. Please park in the designated parking area only.
4. We respectfully ask that you leave your shoes at the door as this keeps the floors clean and free of the glacial silt and gravel that tend stick to shoes damaging floors.
5. Please do not wear your wading boots in the house. There are hooks outside of the Gear Shed from which to hang and dry.
6. Smoking is not permitted in the house. You may smoke outside on decks only. All cigarettes butts must be extinguished and placed in the trash.
7. Pets are not permitted.
8. Fires are allowed in the wood stove only. There is no outside fire pit due to the danger of forest fires.
9. In summer please keep thermostat on TOYO stove set between 50 and 70.
10. Radiators are located in each bedroom and are there for your comfort.
11. Do not prop windows or leave windows open when you are not on premises.
12. People other than those in the Guest party as set forth by your contract with VRBO and the owners of Shackleford Creek Mountain House LLC. may not stay overnight in the property.
13. No tents or RVs may be set up on the property for people not included in the reservation. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of the Guest.
14. The Guest shall keep the property and all furnishings in good order
15. The Guest shall only use appliances for their intended uses
16. Feel free to use condiments, coffee, filters etc. that you find in the kitchen or the wood for the woodstove.
17. We have had the beds in the house made up for the number of people listed on your reservation. While we have extra linens/towels, please refrain from using them unless absolutely necessary.
18. A cleaning fee of $125 is built into the daily rate. We have a vacuum cleaner, broom, mop and cleaning supplies located in the utility closet and under the sink should you need to address any spills. We do ask guests to keep the place neat. If you require house cleaning please call CLVR. If the house requires extra cleaning from our cleaning crew, we will charge the actual time and cost spent on the extra cleaning.
19. The house and its systems are designed for a single family. We are not set up for, nor do we allow large gatherings, events or activities that will create a disturbance and put undo stress on the well, pump and septic systems.

1. We do not allow pets.

UPON DEPARTURE:
1. Please place all used linens / towels into clothes basket next to utility closet.
2. Clean out the coffee grinds / filter in coffee pot.
3. Please remove all perishables from the refrigerator.
4. Place all dirty dishes in dishwasher and start the cycle.
5. Leave your trash inside in the cans provided both in the kitchen as well as the Gear Shed and CLVR will dispose of them.
6. Turn down the heat on TOYO stove to 50 degrees.
7. Please ensure all windows are closed and door is locked.

A microwave and a mini fridge is also in the room with two double beds. The coffee maker was a welcome addition for the next morning. Lodge #4 is the perfect launching point for all of your Alaskan activities. This is a studio unit with a fully stocked kitchen, fully stocked bathroom, comfortable and clean queen bed, along with satellite tv and WIFI.

This cabin is located across the street from the river. It doesn't not have river views but it does have mountain views. There is access to the river across the street behind out Grizzly Ridge store. This cabin is not secluded, there are multiple cabins located nearby.

We recommend you shop for groceries prior to arriving in Cooper landing, as the local grocery store is no longer in operation.

Micro, fridge, covered area with gas grill,space heater, private shower/toilet house. Fire pit, no wood supplied. Kenai Lake access is 1 mile, great beach walking. Fish on the Kenai, 1.5 miles away or drive 6 miles to the Russian River.
Dogs allowed but you cannot leave them alone in the cabin unless they are in a kennel.

Guests have the entire cabin and bath house to themselves. Guests have use of grill and covered table area. There might be times when we use the grill but we will not use it if guests are actively using it. Guests are welcome to walk up and down the driveway and hang out around the cabin. We prefer guests don't walk around perimeter of our house for privacy reasons.

Other things to note
The Kenai Peninsula is bear country so all hiking, fishing and camping activities need to be done with bear awareness. No outside trash cans to be used on property. No smoking in cabin and no fish cleaning on property.

Located just above Snug Harbor on Kenai Lake , the original Log Cabin was completed in 1942 ,additions to this cabin to accommodate the large growing family in 1955 ,in the early 1960's another addition was added to accommodate the addition of Electricity in Cooper Landing .With the exception of the garage built in 1992 , all the structures on this property are from the 1950's .A creek flow's into Kenai lake on the western border that flow's into Kenai Lake , some sockeye salmon spawn right at this location .The quietness of this location makes it just the right place after a day of activities .

The guest have access to the Sauna ,Fire Pit, basketball hoop , swing and new horse shoe pit .A couple trails start at the cabin that access the new walking path into Cooper Landing .

Many trails start and end in Cooper Landing. It really is in the center of the Kenai Peninsula. Great fishing, rafting, hiking, and kayaking are all available. Cooper Landing is close to Seward, Hope, and Soldotna and a great stopover on the way to Homer. You have access to a new walking path on Snug Harbor Road from the top or our driveway.

Enjoy all Cooper Landing and the Kenai Peninsula has to offer with your own private retreat on Kenai Lake. Our cabin has 2 bedrooms, a loft and 2 bathrooms. The property is located on the sunny side of Kenai Lake just up from the bridge. Enjoy a fire by the lake, float the upper Kenai, hike or bike. The property has a private boat launch for small boats. Minutes away from the new Cooper Landing Brewery and across the street from Wildman's for food, river shuttles, and last minute items.

The space
The entire 1 acre property will be yours to use. There is a fire pit down by the lake, and a private driveway with plenty of parking. If you want to bring a small boat you can launch onsite.

Other things to note
Wildmans grocery and liquor is directly across the road. It has a great deli for breakfast, day lunches, and shuttles for floating the River

$500.00/night. 3 night minimum. ($100 cleaning fee for cabin reservations.) Cabin can accommodate up to 10 guests. Suitable for larger families/parties. All twin beds, full kitchen, 2 bathrooms. Garage is not for guest use.

The space
The cabin is a fully furnished home that sleeps up to 10 guests. The main level has 5 twin beds in an open floor setting (one room). The back wall of this bedroom is shared with an apartment attached to the cabin on the backside with tenants. The main level also hosts the living room with satellite television and Wi-Fi (This is "Alaskan" Wi-Fi, not the best but we sure try!), the full kitchen/dining and a bathroom. The kitchen includes stove, microwave, standard sized fridge, coffee pot, toaster, cookware/dishware and utensils. The dining table can seat up to 10 guests. The remaining 5 twin beds are split between 3 bedrooms upstairs (2 in one, 2 in another and 1 in the last), there is also a bathroom upstairs. There is no laundry services at the Lodge, but there are coin operated services at the convenience store approx 1 mile from us. Housekeeping will come in once a day and vacuum if needed, take out trash and replace towels/washcloths if needed. If you will be using the kitchen for its intended purposes, we do recommend getting groceries prior to making your way down to Cooper Landing. There is a small grocery store located next door to us, but they typically carry only the essentials. There is also bbq grill that is shared for guest use as well as a fire pit with picnic tables. We do our best to accommodate guests with a fire if weather/fire conditions permit. We lay out a designated amount of wood to use for the day, if you plan to use more than what we offer, we recommend picking up a bundle.

Quiet Hours begin at 10pm (we love comradery at the fire pit in the evenings/night, we just ask no crazy whooping/hollering/partying after 10pm for the guests who are on different time schedules than the rest of us.)

It would really help us if the following were done before checking out:
-Strip sheets/pillowcases on beds and pile on the foot of the bed.
-Dishes are washed and put away (or at least washed and drying on rack.)
-Trash is gathered into one area by kitchen trash.
-Washcloths/Towels piled into the tub/shower in bathrooms


Tackle shop located on the premises for all your fishing needs and the Fish House where we process your big catch! Conveniently located right off the highway. We are close to the Cooper Landing loading docks, beautiful mountain views and hiking trails close by. Great fishing on the Kenai and Russian Rivers. A small convenience store is within walking distance from the Lodge for the necessities you may need. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your future stay!

As a guest of Salmon Run Lodge, you have access to our tackle shop during operating hours. Tackle shop and Fish House are open 7 days a week. We also provide guided fishing trips including Halibut, Salmon and Trout. Our Lodge has a fire pit open to all of our guests to sit and relax after a day of adventure and a bbq grill that is shared among guests for use.

We are a motel/lodge, all of our guests are on different schedules. We ask that all guests be respectful of quiet hours after 10pm around the fire pit and lodge property. NOT pet friendly.

Starbright House speaks the language of peaceful simplicity. Nestled in forest in a quiet neighborhood, it puts its effort into making you feel cared for & comfortable, not putting on a show to impress you. Ahhh!

Three bedrooms & a 4th sleeping area give space for up to 11 to sleep when all double & queen beds are shared, but the house is best for 5-8 ppl. Two bathrooms. The main living area is compact, but expandable by a large covered deck, where you can admire mountain goats across the way.

The space
This 3+BR/2BA home is located conveniently in Cooper Landing, Alaska, central on the Kenai Peninsula to all the places where you'll be adventuring. Built in 2002, used lightly and gently as a summer weekend home since then, and with recent updates, it is clean and fresh, uncluttered and relaxing. Find a comforting and comfortable place to rest and connect right here! The house sleeps up to 11, but because of its compact main living areas, it is optimal for groups of 5-8 if you plan to spend significant time indoors.

When you first arrive, you'll be drawn to the large upper covered deck, with its impressive mountain view. You'll love to dine al fresco on the deck, BBQ grill at hand, watching sheep grazing distantly on the mountains or enjoying birds in the birdhouse. The deck can be closed off from the stairs with a latching gate, making it toddler-friendly.

The upper level of the house is where you will find the main living room, complete with TV (Internet connectivity only - no satellite or cable to interrupt your vacation), a wood stove, and new leather furniture for lounging. Behind the living space, next to the doors leading to the deck, you'll find an excellent eating area, easily seating 6, with great window views to greet you as you sip your morning coffee. The kitchen, compact but outfitted well with everything you need to cook at home, is crisp and clean. Expand your dining and cooking options onto the large, covered deck, where you will find a gas-fired barbeque grill and an outdoor dining set for four.

Two bedrooms and a full bathroom are featured on this upper floor. Each bedroom has a queen bed with brand new memory foam mattresses, fresh bedding, and simple touches to inspire relaxation. The bathroom feels fresh and benefits from natural light through a small shower window.

The lower level of the house provides a third bedroom, a spare room, and a second bathroom for additional guests. The bedroom has two brand new full beds, each with memory foam mattresses. The full bathroom is clean, feeling new with nice fixtures and touches. The extra room in the basement houses a bunk bed with a full bed on the bottom and a twin on the top, a couch for lounging and even a game table.

Downstairs you will also find the full-size washer and dryer. The laundry room has space for you to spread out and organize your outdoor adventuring gear.

The lower deck has a swing, perfect for that evening drink, swaying to the sound of the breeze in the forest. The property is bordered by mature spruce forest, in a quiet residential area with the small-town vibe. Enjoy the sound and sights of the extra visitors and residents in the treetop bird houses on property. When wildfire danger is low, enjoy the firebowl out on the lawn.

A short walk, about 1/4 mile, down the quiet road brings you to a public access to beautiful, turquoise Kenai Lake (Note: there is not extended public waterfront, just a public access point to put in a small boat or to view the water; no space for beach-combing.) You'll be reminded of why you chose Cooper Landing for your Alaskan vacation: pure beauty!

A lovely breakfast bar seats 4, dining seats 6. There is a natural cold-water spring with a small tub for keeping drinks cool while you are enjoying yourself around the fire pit. The space
Russian River House is a premier privately owned rental property in Cooper Landing, Alaska, located directly on the pristine Kenai River home to world class fishing in the heart of Chugach National Forest. After a long day of rafting, hiking, fishing, bear viewing, horseback riding or air tours relax in a newly rebuilt wood burning log steam bath. Then enjoy a warm fire and cold brew around the fire pit yards from the river.

This unique property is fenced offering complete privacy and quiet. A fully equipped modern kitchen with hardwood floors, complete cookware and dinnerware supplies, natural wood countertops, breakfast bar seating, stainless steel refrigerator, stove and dishwasher allows the chef to whip up a quick breakfast or prepare a feast.

Open timbered pine vaulted ceilings offer a panoramic view of the Kenai River and Sheep Mountain. While enjoying your morning cup of coffee look for seasonal migratory mergansers, northern pintails, American wigeon, terns, mallards, trumpeter swans, bald eagles and mountain sheep.

A cultivated lawn, walkways flower pots and beds, hanging baskets, apple trees and Alaska raspberry bushes provide colorful touches of warmth and beauty throughout the property.

Enjoy the plentiful hiking trails nearby. A short drive to Resurrection Pass Trail, Juneau Creek Falls, Cooper Landing Cliffs, Russian River Trail, Crescent Lake Trail, Cooper Lake Trail to Cooper Dam, Johnson Pass Trail, Carter Lake and only an hour away is the majestic 14 mile-long crystal clear Skilak Lake fed by nearby glaciers perfect for hiking or fishing. Always stay alert for bears and wildlife. Look for moose along the road in early morning or dusk. Take sightseeing, dining and shopping trips to Seward, Soldotna and Homer, halibut capital of the world.

Don’t feel like cooking? Visit the many restaurants and cafes all within a short drive. A gas station, gift shop, and general store are a short walk away to pick up those last-minute gift, food or personal items. Chris and Mezel Rhodes are on site owners and managers. Chris is a second-generation Alaskan who has lived on the property for 40 years. Their family may respectfully use the steam bath/sauna from time to time. Chris or Mezel will give you a warm Alaskan welcome and are available to answer any questions about the history and surrounding country of the awe-inspiring and world class Kenai River. Beginning in 2025, a play and recreational area with games such as badminton and croquet will be available.

Guest access
The entire house and sauna/steam bath is for your enjoyment. On occasion, the Rhodes family members may respectfully use the sauna from time to time.

The six bar stools around the kitchen bar and the six-person dining table provide ample space for entertaining up to twelve guests.

This home features an incredible hot tub and a spacious deck equipped with a gas grill and a patio table for six providing the perfect place to take in the stunning view of the Kenai River and the surrounding mountains. Our cabin has three floors. The main floor with the kitchen, living room, and a full bathroom. The upstairs loft which has a king bed and attached bathroom with access to upstairs balcony. The downstairs with three queen beds, a half bath, and the laundry area.
