We will be back to stay a bit longer in the near future. " - "Beautiful place for a restful time away! Although it's a bit off the beaten path it's well worth the little trip. The unit I initially was assigned to didn't have hot water but after a couple of calls I was moved to another unit. Host Gerry and Jenny were so very accommodating, we didn't want to leave. The house is a veritable antique museum and each room has its own special charm and design. The bedroom was cozy and warm. Not much space to lay out, nor any TV, which was perfectly fine with us. There are sitting rooms upstairs and downstairs, and in many respects we felt like we were visiting a museum of the past. Great choice if you're looking for something different and special. "

- "Just got back from our trip to Laurel. The cottage had everything that was needed for our stay. Location is great, had it been cooler we could have easily walked to the cute downtown. Will was very easy to work with, communication was great!! Pinehurst Cottage is such a great place!! We are already planning our next visit, will definitely stay here next time. Thank you Will for a wonderful experience.." - "Pinehurst is a wonderful small cottage close to downtown. Be sure to go the latter part of the week when visiting Laurel because like my small town, things are closed on Monday and be sure to go when the weather is cooler. We just made a stop on our way to Myrtle Beach, SC. And the accommodations were great and the host was very helpful."

Welcome to "Pool House" - a midtown home with a beautiful screened pool and outdoor living area. Swim in the heated pool every month except January and February! We’ve remodeled this 4 bd/2 ba home with travelers in mind, whether your trip is for business or vacation. You’ll have a private heated pool, high speed fiber internet, fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, unlimited hot water, and lots of touches to make your stay enjoyable (a collection of board games and a vintage 80’s stereo with some vinyl, too.)
The space
Pool House is cozy and functional. Between stays, we wash all the sheets, duvet covers, blankets and towels in dye and fragrance free detergent on the hottest setting. Before you arrive, we wipe all the high touch surfaces with disinfectant and spray everything as well. There’s a large dining table inside that seats 8, and an outdoor dining table that seats 6. Around the pool you’ll find several seating areas to watch swimmers or have your morning cup of coffee. We’ve got pool games and toys ready and an electric grill that’s easy to use (electric since it’s inside the screen). If you want to have an outdoor movie night or watch the big game outside, we have a screen and projector with Hulu, Disney, and ESPN. You just take the projector outside and pull down the screen and you are ready to enjoy a nighttime, outdoor cinema.
I love plants, so the backyard is loaded with some of my favorites – if the tomato/peppers/herbs are ready to pick, you are welcome to them.
If you’re forced to put in some office hours during your trip, there’s also a separate office space with a huge whiteboard and spacious desk (fiber internet) so you can focus and then quickly get back to relaxing.
Each bedroom, the living room, and the office have smart tvs with Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ all ready signed in and ready to go. You can also sign in to your own prime video or Netflix or other subscription services on the tv apps. Local Channels are available for live tv. If you want to watch other channels, Pluto tv has lots of variety.
We upgraded to a top of the line tankless water heater to supply the house with endless hot water - now the last shower is as hot as the first!
Guest access
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Guests have access to the entire house, private, screened pool and a large back porch to enjoy the outside. All the guests must be listed on the reservation and only those listed can be at the house, spend the night, or swim. Anyone else requires prior permission from the owner. We don't allow parties at the house. If you would like to have a small gathering, it will require prior approval from the host (and may include a fee). Any violation of this rule will immediately forfeit the reservation. Please park on the driveway and carport which together can accommodate up to 6 cars.
Other things to note:
The pool heater works best between March and December if the temperatures don’t dip too low. It can generally keep the pool water warm as long as the temperatures are at least in the 50s.
- "The house was clean and filled with everything you could need. The pool was amazing and loved that is was screened in. Mrs. Andrea was so helpful and always checking in with us. Close to attractions that we wanted to see." - "Our stay was amazing. The owner had so many special touches that made our trip comfortable and very enjoyable. The pool was perfect and very fun. We cooked many of our meals in the kitchen, which was fully equipped. Highly recommend!"

Smoking Policy
No smoking of any kind is permitted inside the building.
Our facility has a commercial sprinkler system and smoke detection in every area.
Smoking indoors may result in fines and/or damage charges.
Accessibility
Unfortunately, we do not have an elevator. Please be aware before booking that access to The Buzzard’s Roost Inn is by stairwell only.
We’ve received many questions about accessibility and ADA compliance, and we want to be fully transparent.
As a business—and more importantly, as humans—we never want anyone to feel forgotten or excluded. We understand that not all guests can comfortably or safely climb stairs with luggage.
Our decision not to install an elevator was not taken lightly. The building is over 100 years old—so old, in fact, that we don’t know the exact year it was built.
Because of its age and structural limitations, the building cannot support a new interior elevator shaft. An exterior installation would require construction in the uneven back alley behind the building, where there is no available parking and limited accessibility. Guests would have to walk from Oak Street across unpaved ground to reach an outdoor elevator—something that, at this time, is not financially feasible or safe to implement.
That said, it is our hope that in the coming years, we will be able to make meaningful changes to improve accessibility within the Inn.
Regarding ADA Compliance
§ 36.404 Alterations: Elevator exemption
(a) This section does not require the installation of an elevator in an altered facility that is less than three stories or has less than 3,000 square feet per story, except with respect to any facility that houses a shopping center, a shopping mall, the professional office of a health care provider, a terminal, depot, or other station used for specified public transportation, or an airport passenger terminal.
We fall under this exemption, as The Buzzard’s Roost Inn is less than 3,000 square feet per story and less than three stories tall.
If you have questions or concerns about accessibility, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’ll do our best to help however we can.
Damage Deposit
A $100 pre-authorized damage deposit is required at booking and released within 3 days of checkout.
Fees may apply for:
Unauthorized late checkouts ($50)
Irreparably stained towels or linens ($15)
Missing or damaged items (costs vary)
Cancellations & Refunds
Cancel 30+ days before arrival: 100% refund
Cancel 14–29 days before arrival: 50% refund
Cancel within 13 days of arrival: No refund
Please note: Credit card processing and booking platform fees (2–6%) are non-refundable for direct bookings.
Bar
We’ve made the difficult decision to close The Buzzard’s Roost Bar.
While we’ll miss serving you, rest assured there are plenty of great spots for food and drinks just a short walk away. You’ll find some of our favorite local recommendations listed in the guest guide provided in each room.
Final Thoughts
We are a small, dedicated team and appreciate your patience and understanding as we strive to provide a unique and memorable experience.
Our inn blends Southern hospitality with self-service convenience, and we are always just a message away if you need help.
Thank you for considering a stay at The Buzzard’s Roost Inn—we can’t wait to welcome you to our hometown.

- "Loved the property. Convenient to everything in Laurel. Only nit in listing is it should indicate that there is a pretty long set of stairs for only access. Knew it was upstairs but frankly did not think was it stairs or elevator. Was not a problem for us this year but might be in the future. " - "Quick short stay. Bed is SUPER soft. Not a complaint but just too soft for my husband and I. Beautiful lodgings and so unique." - "What a fun spot! So quaint and charming. Easy walk to local shops downtown. One thing to note - Sunday is a very quiet day in Laurel but we loved hanging out in the room and getting some much needed down time. The bar downstairs had great music Saturday night and the staff were very welcoming."

Luggage Help
We do not offer formal luggage service but are happy to assist with arrangements when possible. Please notify us before your stay.
Housekeeping
Our team cleans between each guest stay for maximum guest privacy.
We keep rooms well stocked and spares of most things in the shared common area, but should you need anything else, you can reach out to our property manager who will arrange that as soon as possible.
If you would like a light cleaning/tidying during your stay (bed made, etc.) let us know before your stay, and we will arrange it at no additional cost.
Noise Notice
Our inn is located across from an active train line. While many guests enjoy the unique charm of this setting, you may hear local music, voices, or the train during your stay.
Rooms include white noise machines, and we do our best to minimize disruption.
Pets & Service Animals
We do not allow pets at this time.
However, service animals—including emotional support animals—are welcome.
Please notify us at booking so we can prepare. Guests are responsible for any damages and must kennel animals when not present.

- "This Inn is an awesome Laurel destination - it is so Home Town - fabulous!!" - "Excellent stay! The only request I have is that the hallway lights dim after 10pm. The light that comes in through the transom window made it difficult for the guests who slept on the pullout to sleep. Otherwise, very nice accommodations!" - "The room and common living areas are beautiful. The restaurant/bar had very good food. They only serve beer and a few frozen drinks. No mixed drinks or wine. We stayed in the Laurel room and I new the train station was a working station however we did not realize that it would run at 10pm 11pm 12pm 3am 5am so even though that is THE most comfortable bed I have ever slept in in my life neither my husband or I slept much do to continuously getting woken up by the train. Not sure if the furthest room would’ve been better. We most likely will not stay on the train line a second time. Glad for the one time experience. Again beautifully done just need some sound proofing."

The Beaux – A Charming & Elegant Retreat
Welcome to The Beaux, a beautifully appointed private bedroom with an exclusive bathroom, located on the first floor of the main house. This inviting space features a luxurious king-size adjustable bed, a 65” smart TV, and two nightstands, ensuring both comfort and convenience. The room is adorned with rich, ornately carved wood furniture, including an armoire, dresser with mirror, and chest of drawers, providing ample storage for your belongings.
One of the standout features of The Beaux is the stunning built-in bench that spans the length of three large picturesque windows. This cozy nook bathes the room in natural light during the day, creating the perfect spot for reading, nature watching, or simply unwinding.
Just a few steps down the hall, your private bathroom awaits—recently renovated to honor the home’s historic charm. The original clawfoot tub has been lovingly restored and refitted with a modern shower fixture, blending vintage elegance with contemporary convenience. Additionally, the bathroom features a bidet with a heated seat and water function for an added touch of luxury.
A Note on Our Historic Home:
Casa de Louque is nestled in a designated historic district, meaning our home is filled with character, intricate woodwork, and crystal chandeliers, but it is not a brand-new, pristine space. While you may notice some imperfections typical of historic homes, we believe its charm and architectural beauty make it a truly special retreat. If you appreciate classic craftsmanship and seek a peaceful neighborhood for a relaxing getaway, we’re confident you’ll love making Casa de Louque your home away from home.

AMBIANCE:
The house is beautifully bright, sunny & charming. The positive energy & warm karma is quite magical. Although but an idle object, this house seemingly has a soul.
Locals believe it to be so as a result of its many years in service to the community in need, ie, WW I & II boarding house to the Methodist Hospital at end of Bay St.
Melodic church bells can be heard each quarter-hour throughout the day.
Hattiesburg is indeed a hub, ie, Trains. The haunting clackity-clack sounds & forlorn whistles of the big trains can oftentime be heard thru-out the day till midnight. Frankly this owner’s favorite thing about living downtown is the sounds & presence of these powerful trains & nostalgic nuances of another era when trains ruled
