Staying here you’re well situated with good travel links for all of the region’s tourist attractions. Accomodation itself is quite and peaceful with no noise from the local area and kept immaculately clean by the hosts who are extremely friendly and welcoming, in addition the room provided all the amenities you could need for a short break. Breakfast was also a winner, a good quality full English, what more could you ask for? Fresh baked bread and pastries I hear you say? Well you’re catered for there too. If you hadn’t guessed my partner and I had a fantastic stay. Was her first visit to the area and I’m glad to say she’s pleased to go back. - "Wonderful hosts with great local knowledge for guests. Our room was very clean snd comfortable and the breakfast made to order was superb. I can fully recommend to visitors from near and far, when we visit the Lizard again we will definitely stay with Roy & Jayne." - "An excellent base from which to explore The Lizard, the host provided detailed and extensive information on how far beaches/places of interest were, both on foot or by car, as well as tide times and weather which is important since several of the beaches on the peninsula are highly tide dependent. Made it much easier to plan our day. While Kynance Cove gets a lot of attention there are many other less well known beaches that are equally stunning. Cooked breakfast was hearty and delicious. Chyheira is not in the village so it's quiet with just the sound of bird song. And it has a car park, which was nice. Really enjoyed our stay!"

Upon entering Henrietta there’s a small well equipped kitchen, a lovely bedroom and living room with French doors opening onto a private garden. There is a bathroom, and a small outhouse with washing machine We slept well every night and of a day made the most of the Cornish countryside and fabulous beaches. Look out over miles of blue Cornish sea. To the left you have the granite fishing harbour with shops and restaurants gathered around it. To the right you have the ancient iron age settlement, now grazed by ponies. On the horizon merchant ships on their way to the Atlantic or returning up the channel with their cargo. Nearer in you have the fisherman checking their crab pots. There is a great variety of birdlife and you might also see seals, dolphins and the occasional tuna.
The ground floor of Porthvean is designed as an open space, with an additional smaller living area both offer stunning views of the sea. Finished in high-quality oak and slate flooring, underfloor heating, and a Morso wood burning stove for added cosiness. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern amenities like a dishwasher, large fridge freezer, and an additional wine fridge. For added convenience, there is a utility room with a washing machine and a separate tumble dryer. There is also a downstairs shower room with walk in shower, sink and loo.
Upstairs at Porthvean you will find four bedrooms. The three double bedrooms with luxurious king-size Hypnos beds, ensuring a comfortable and restful sleep. What truly sets these bedrooms apart is their spectacular sea views, which offer a breathtaking backdrop to wake up to each morning. Additionally, there is a fourth bedroom furnished with two single beds, perfect for accommodating larger groups or families. The crown jewel is undoubtedly the master bedroom, complete with an ensuite bathroom featuring a bath and a separate walk-in shower. Alongside the master suite, a family bathroom with both a bath and a shower is available, along with a modern downstairs shower room complete with a basin and toilet. All the bathrooms are equipped with underfloor heating and heated towel rails, ensuring that guests are comfortable and warmth. The upstairs area is carpeted, for a cosy and inviting atmosphere throughout.
The house sits on a mini-peninsular which gives it, with its four bay windows, a 200 degree sea view, from the sheltered sandy beach out to the distant horizon and around to the craggy Chynhalls Point.
The garden and patio are south facing with a sheltered sunny courtyard for breezy days. There is an hot and cold outside shower for washing off sandy toes after trip to the beach. Unusually for the centre of the village there is private off-road parking, for two medium size cars or one large car. Super fast fibre optic broad band.
Coverack is a picturesque Cornish fishing village. Nestling around the granite built harbour are a pub and a restaurant both providing good food. Next door there is a coffee shop, which serves wonderful coffee, pastries and ice creams. Running along the side of the house is a path which leads to the beach. Opposite the house there is a park with swings and a slide for children.
Ensuring a Comfortable Environment for All Guests
Pets have always held a special place in our lives. Both David and I, having been brought up with dogs and cats, understand the joy and companionship they bring to family life. However, we also recognise that not everyone shares the same appreciation for pets, and some individuals suffer from allergies.
In order to maintain a comfortable and allergen-free environment for all our guests, we have made the decision to establish a no pets policy at Porthvean. We understand that it may seem disappointing for those who would have loved to bring their furry companions along, but we believe that this choice is necessary to ensure the highest levels of cleanliness and comfort for all visitors. Removing traces of pets from one stay to the next poses a significant challenge. Despite our best efforts, it is difficult to completely eliminate allergens and pet hair, potentially causing discomfort for those with sensitivities.
- "Perfect house in a stunning location for our very overdue family reunion. Everything you could possibly wish for. Very sad to leave!" - "We had the most enjoyable week staying in this wonderful house. Excellent sea views from almost every window. Superbly furnished and equipped we wanted for nothing. It was more than a ‘home from home’. We enjoyed the welcome pack of scones, jam and cream very much. The position of the house within Coverack is great and very convenient with only a short walk to the harbour, shop, fish & chips and local pub. The off road car parking for two cars across from the house was very convenient. We highly recommend this as a place to stay - you won’t be disappointed."

A haven of exclusive tranquillity close to England’s warmest and most southerly point, Parc Bean provides luxury self-catering accommodation in a unique setting in west Cornwall. The house has a superb location overlooking the Cornish coast and commands breathtaking sea and coastal views. Situated at the tip of the Lizard peninsula (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Parc Bean is an idyllic location.
Warm and friendly atmosphere, perfect for family or a romantic escape! Architect designed open plan living with panoramic views from vast windows, including stunning master bedroom sea views. Spectacular sunsets can be enjoyed from the expansive outdoor terrace and dinning area.
The property is equipped with Sky TV, wi-fi, dvd player and a cosy wood burner. Hot Tub rental available on request.
Two minute walk down to the beach (Non Swimming Beach, but stunning to walk along, dog friendly and you can often spot seals, and have even seen a whale!). Coastal paths in both directions with lovely walks and breathtaking views. 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to swimming beach very child friendly. Lovely pub within five minutes walk with great food. A 15 minute drive, or 45 minute beautiful walk across cliff paths with stunning views, to picturesque Porthleven Harbour, shops and restaurants including Rick Stein. Stunning costal Mullion golf course is a 15 minute drive away.
A perfect escape for the most relaxing experience!
- "A dream house!" - "The property (Parc Bean) is just plain Stunning! The location is private, open and yet secure. The grandkids (4 & 6) loved playing in the well-maintained yard and playing on the nearby pebble beach. The upstairs master bedroom looks out over the ocean and down the beach and the cove. The kitchen worked well for the 6 of us. The furniture was inviting and comfortable. The only issue I had with this property is that we planned to visit many of the amazing nearby sites. The house is so completely enjoyable, with the beach and the ocean side hiking we ended up just staying "home" for 4 of our 7 days. this really is a Home away from Home."

To give travellers the confidence to book during these uncertain times we have been and will continue to offer a full refund on any bookings if the Government does not allow holidays due to CoVid-19.
New England style single storey house in the quintessential village of Helford on the Helford Estuary. A beautifully decorated property in a neutral colour pallet, personalised by the family’s collection of pictures and curios. Billed as a true home-from-home it has been totally refurbished over the last three years. It allows for bright open plan living with two patios for alfresco dining, to catch the sun all day and enjoy the views over the estuary. Only a few minutes walk from the waters edge, village pub and shop, or stroll around the creek to the sailing club and tea room. Also ideal for winter lets due to oil fired central heating, a log burner (seasoned logs provided), and under floor heating in the bathrooms which creates a snug, damp-free, cosy escape.
There are three double bedrooms all overlooking the garden with views of the water beyond. One is a Super King with a door on to the garden, the second bedroom is King size with a large window and the third bedroom has two single beds and also has a door onto the garden. (One cot available upon request.) There is a 4th bedroom with a single bed. All beds have luxurious down pillows and duvets with White Company bedding. Both bathrooms have been completely refurbished with luxury fittings (like a Catchpole & Rye basin), under-floor heating and large heated towel rails. The family bathroom is perfect for having a relaxing soak in the full-sized double-ended tub. The other bathroom is ideal for shower-lovers with its large walk-in rainforest shower and stylish boutique-hotel style sanitary ware.
The large sitting room (8 x 3.5m) with two sofas is focused around relaxing in front of the log burner and overlooking the views of the garden and Helford Estuary through the two sets of floor-to-ceiling patio doors. However it is also very well-equipped with media and entertainment facilities to while away any rainy days - large TV, 100+ DVD collection, Freeview & BT Sports package, BT fibre optic broadband and Vodafone Sure Signal. The living room flows through a traditional Cornish granite arch into a bespoke kitchen with Dinesen wood floor, range cooker and Nespresso coffee machine – so bring your favourite pods! Conveniently located off the kitchen is a utility room / mud room with access to outside and contains a washing machine, separate tumble dryer, additional fridge and ample storage. The dual aspect kitchen has a large dining table that always feels sunny and comfortably seats up to ten.
All the bedrooms and sitting room look out on to the secluded garden and Helford Estuary beyond. Private off road parking on-site for up to two estate (or three smaller) cars – a rarity in Helford! However not suitable for children under 8 because the patio has an unfenced drop of 1.5 metres from the patio down onto the lawn, however babes-in-arms are welcome.
The hamlet of Helford offers absolute tranquillity. It is literally at the end of the road to the sea! You can make the most of this peace by enjoying the surrounding countryside and coasts. For entertainment there is a pub with large terrace overlooking the Helford Estuary, a tea shop in the converted church and a wonderful local store (that stocks everything including fresh bread, croissants and ice-cream). Sailors can join the Helford River Sailing Club for a week or day sail dinghies from Helford Point or St Anthony's Bay or moor your own dinghy at Steve Potter's pontoon just a few minutes walk from the house and is accessible at all states of the tide. The rocks are wonderful for crabbing and the property is just 50 metres from the Coastal Path so why not take a short walk through the bluebell woods to Frenchman's Creek or explore Penarvon Cove. There are many lovely beaches just a short drive away. The foot Ferry from Helford Point (3 minutes walk) takes you across the river to the Ferryboat Inn for a delicious lunch or walk along to Glendurgan or Trebah Gardens. We often walk in a circle round Helford and include the Kestle Barton Art Gallery and garden. You can visit sub tropical gardens, take the King Harry Ferry to the Roseland Peninsula see the Maritime Museum in Falmouth and then take ferry to St Mawes for lunch/afternnon tea at the famous Tresanton Hotel. The Ship Inn at Mawgan is well worth booking for an evening meal, run by husband and wife team Ali and Greg, some of their amazing food can also be bought at the local shop. We are big fans but so are most of Cornwall so book early! The South Cafe has just reopened in Manaccan, just up the road. St Ives is of course well worth a trip and you can park and ride and get the train into the town. The Porthminster Beach Cafe near the station is another of our favourite places to eat - you need to book at busy times. Trevaskis Farm has high quality Pick Your Own and a restaurant with the biggest choice of deserts we've ever seen! Fresh fish can be bought from Kernowsashini Farm just 4 miles away, or the Cornish Shellfish company in Gweek. There is a seal sanctuary near Helston and don't forget the Floral Dance if you are there in early May. Go down the Poldark Mine near Redruth (tin mining capital of Cornwall in18C), or go to Roskillys Farm and watch the cows being milked and maybe have a wood fired pizza. See the Lizard Lighthouse Centre and Marconi Wireless Station or visit Porthleven harbour - Rick Stein has just opened a restaurant there and we can recommend the husband and wife run SeaDrift cafe. There is the Minack Open Air Theatre we recommend going via Mousehole the picturesque harbour and small town. The interesting Tremenheere Sculpture Garden is also in that direction. West Cornwall is also rich in Neolithic and Bronze Age Heritage sites. You can use our two-man Gemini sit-on canoe - just launch it by the pub - and explore the creeks and banks of the Helford River. Golfers can enjoy Mullion Golf Course, a fabulous cliff top and links course or you can just relax and enjoy the many different agapanthus in the secluded garden.
- "We returned to April cottage after our first visit there in 2020 during the brief period we were allowed out of lockdown. We hope To return next year, all being well." - "Delightful house, very nicely decorated, spacious and full of light. Very well equipped. Comfortable. Nice views of the Helford River. Quality in Tourism rated Gold Award. Our elegant 1 bedroom, 2nd floor apartment is situated within a converted Edwardian hotel set in one of the most spectacular location in South West Cornwall. The Headland is one of the most southerly points of England. Beautifully appointed above landscaped gardens and stunning panoramic sea views, the grounds also include a newly re-surfaced tennis court. A beautiful, sheltered beach is 2 minutes walk away and a further 10 minute stroll will be rewarded by the picturesque village of Coverack,a working fishing harbour almost untouched by time. The surrounding area is protected by the National Trust, with excellent local cliff walks along the coastal path. The Lizard peninsular offers a unique variety of landscape. The tranquillity of the creeks and woodlands along the Helford River contrast greatly with the rugged cliffs and seas that stretch from Coverack round the Lizard to Mullion and beyond.
- "Comfortable, clean, fully equip apartment with fabulous views over the beach below and panoramic sea views. Whilst the 2nd floor location is hard on the knees after a day walking, the fact you don't need to close any blinds mean you get the stars and the sun rise whilst lying in bed! Coverack Paris Hotel/pub is just 10 mins away, uphill on the way back to burn off dinner or a couple of beers. Beware the f&c shop is not reliable which in turn puts pressure on the Pub for evening dinner so you will almost certainly need an alternative if you are relying on supper out as options are a little bit limited. The little coffee/cake/sandwich place was always busy and the village shop is ok for emergencies. This property is a great location to visit all the little villages towards Helford and the coast around the Lizard."

- "The caravan was brilliant. Very well equipped and spacious for my family of 5 including 3 teenagers. Sarah and Neil were perfect hosts. Communication was excellent and they made sure that the caravan had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The caravan is situated on a busy park which had plenty of everything going on but was lovely and quiet when it came to bedtime. Cornwall is amazing and the caravan was the perfect base to explore the surrounding area. We visited the seal sanctuary, saw wild seals at Lizard Point, kynance cove, mullion cove, st Michael's Mount and the Eden Project. We've eaten like kings in the many restaurants and cafes in the surrounding area and lapped up the sunshine on beautiful beaches. Literally cannot wait to visit again. Thank you for letting us stay."

- "We had a wonderful holiday staying in Davids quaint cottage, which was spacious yet cosy, full of cornish character and charm. We felt like we had come home as soon as we arrived. The sea views from the upstairs windows towards lizard point, were a wonderful greeting every morning, perfect for yoga or wiling away the hours spotting sailboats 🧘♀️ The lizard has lots to see and do, kids were able to play on the field and in the park which was just accross the road, wandering around the many shops, and eating cornish pasties. We had our anniversary meal at the Witchball pub, which was delicious and reasonable for a family of 4. St Keverne and the glorious Porthleven a short drive away. . .and for surfing Poldhu which as always didn't disappoint! David is a wonderful, thoughtful host, everything we needed was available and nothing was ever too much trouble. We will definitely keep in touch."

The space
"The cabin" is a log cabin, in an idyllic rural location, just a few yards from a small river, with stepping stones to a tree-lined public bridleway. It is very close to my own dwelling, but not intrusive, either way. It accommodates a maximum of 4 people.
A cosy, but airy log cabin with one separate bedroom (1 single bed with another underneath it, to pull out if needed....but NB, this leaves no floor space ) a main room, open to the apex, with a 4' 6" double bed, a curtained area, offset to one side , with a single bed.
The shower and toilet room is in an adjacent building (4 steps away) together with a separate kitchen/ dining room.
Included in the price is electricity, water, linen, towels ( please bring your own beach towels) , basic kitchen cleaning equipment, tea, coffee, condiments and of course toilet tissue. Also soap and shampoo .
There is a hair dryer in the cabin and a cooling fan can be provided if needed ( for those few tropical days/ nights...)
There is access to a small paved garden area at the rear of the cabin, with an extra large picnic bench. This is quite private and just for your use.
There is a small washing line , solely for your use, right outside of the cabin. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer (for a small extra charge via an honesty box) Also in the kitchenette, there is a fridge and separate freezer.
Our front garden is solely for our own family use.
I will happily help you with any questions or recommendations , but I am equally happy to completely respect your total privacy.
Our neighbourhood is beautiful, peaceful and calm, with just a few passing dog walkers and horse riders throughout the day, along the bridleway. It is a hamlet of about 80 dwellings, with a small library, converted from a telephone box! I know if you choose to holiday here, you will be keen to maintain the peace and tranquility.
There is parking just for you (1 space) close to the cabin. There are no buses in Lowertown, but there are buses from Helston town, to visit The Lizard Peninsular, Truro, Falmouth, Penzance and Lands End areas. There are train stations in Falmouth, Penzance, Camborne, Redruth and Truro, to take you further "up the line"
Included in the price is electricity, water, linen, towels ( please bring your own beach towels) , basic kitchen cleaning equipment, tea, coffee, milk, condiments and of course toilet tissue. The space
-** Please note the prices are kept down this year by providing the Cabin, bed, mattress and bed sheet only, please bring the duvet, pillows and towels of your choice.**
Klys Cabin has a covered decking area, and a large area either side of the unit so plenty of choice where to set up and relax, guests have a toilet block within meters from the cabin and a shower with panoramic views which is equally as close and this is shared with one other shepherds hut and one tent pitch.
The meadow is a generous size with the minimal amount of well spaced out pitches - thus creating quite an exclusive glamping destination, the ideal place to unwind and go back to basics.
Other things to note

- Our site is completely off grid which means THERE IS NO ELECTRICITY! (Other than the solar lights) No where to plug in any devises or electrical items. Most of our guests love the site for that reason and embrace the off grid way of living. Quilkyn Hollow is a 1920s barn conversion in the beautiful hamlet of Tresowes, just minutes from the A389 and the south coast beaches. The house provides a quiet leafy retreat and a great base from which to explore this end of Cornwall, whether by car, foot, or bicycle.
It's a magical place and I'm really pleased to be able to share it with others.
The space
I have two double guest rooms with a shared bathroom. This listing is for Room 1 (please see my other listing for details of Room 2).
Room 1 is on the first floor and is the larger of the two rooms. The décor has a loft-space feel. This room is in the attic space but the ceiling is standard height above and around the bed.
The room has a standard double bed with fluffy mattress topper, squishy pillows and duvet, cotton bedlinen and a fleece blanket for the odd chilly night (although we don’t have many of these). Each room has a large television with Freesat. There is a built-in wardrobe with shelves and a hanging rail, a desk (although to be honest I strongly discourage work), a coffee table with chairs, and a small food preparation area with a kettle, fridge, microwave and a selection of crockery and cutlery (I will do you washing up while you are out as there is no kitchen sink for guests).
The bathroom has a bath with shower and is shared with one other room (up to 2 guests). Guests are provided with a cosy bathrobe.
There is a selection of teas and coffee with fresh milk.
Please do read all the listing information and the house rules before you book as this property may not be suitable for everyone.
Guest access
Guests have access to the large garden that surrounds the house. There are tables and chairs for guests.
There is space on the driveway for one vehicle per room, but please note this is not suitable for vehicles that are more than 5 meters long or 2 meters wide (my friend's Bongo is fine, my electrician's long wheelbase van doesn't fit).
The bathroom is shared with up to two other guests, but not with the host.
The kitchen and lounge are private and for the host use only.
During your stay
I am here if you have questions, but otherwise I keep to myself an leave you in peace to enjoy your stay.
For anything urgent the best way to get hold of me is to come and find me. I also give guests my mobile number and they can contact me via Air BnB messages.
Other things to note
I am sorry I am unable to accommodate guests with mobility issues due to UK fire safety laws. This is to keep guests safe as they need to be able to exit the house safety in an emergency and the property sadly doesn't facilitate this.
There are six concrete steps leading down to the property that do not have a hand rail so guests would need to be able to navigate these safely without assistance.
The house is in a largely residential area so please be respectful of the neighbours. The rooms are fairly well sound-proofed but be mindful of loud conversations in the hallway when other people might still be sleeping. Please turn televisions and music down to a sociable level after 11pm and before 8am.
The kitchen is not available to guests. There are two reasons for this. The first is that the kitchen isn't of a standard suitable for paying guests and I could be closed down by the HSE. The second is that insurance for guests to use a kitchen is quite expensive. I try to keep my prices, and costs, as low as possible so I don't have this. This is just a kind request to please not ask me to make exceptions as I will always have to refuse.
I am also unable to host guests under the age of 18 due to insurance restrictions.
I am not able to accommodate dogs (or other pets) as I have a very nervous rescue cat and it just wouldn't be fair to him. From time to time people ask if they can leave dogs in their car overnight, but please don't do this. It isn't safe and my dog-loving neighbours are likely to report people.
LQBTQ+ guests and people from all backgrounds and religions are very welcome.
If there is anything you need that isn't covered in the information here please just ask.
I am not able to provide breakfast as there isn't enough demand to make it viable, but there is a fridge and microwave in your room.
And if you have any questions or concerns around whether Quilkyn Hollow is suitable for you please do get in touch.
