This beautiful restored Casona was the residence of the first town doctor. The location is excellent being very close to shops and restaurants. Although it's close to the town square once you enter the front door the interior of the property is peaceful due to the 3 foot thick interior walls. The house was restored with the original floor plan and is furnished with custom-made furniture. We have all the modern conveniences and a live-in houseman on the property in private quarters at the extreme back corner of the gardens. Carlos has been in our employ for over 17 years and is able to help you enjoy your visit to Valladolid. The gardens are high maintenance and he spends his days manicuring the tropical plants and maintaining the living quarters as needed. Maximum 6 persons.

- "First, Valladolid is a lovely little city. We stayed only two days and wished we had added a day or two more. Second, Danielle (local host) is wonderful. She welcomed us with such hospitality and grace, not just in connection with the property but also with sightseeing tips and lots of other good advice. Third, my kids (two teenagers and a pre-teen) were blown away by this remarkable house, and could not stop talking about it. Setting aside that it is literally a block from the center of the city, it has a beautiful and mysterious air that is so unique and unlike anywhere else we have stayed. My only caveat is that the layout is unusual, in a way we didn't appreciate before arriving. From the front door, there is a large entry hall, followed by a cavernous dining room that is beautiful and enormous but far from the kitchen. That dining room leads to two very large bedrooms. To remain indoors, you'd need to walk through one bedroom to get to the second one, and from there to the main bathroom, although each bedroom also has a door to the outdoors. Separate from that space - i.e. walking down an outdoor path and around a corner, there is the second bathroom, and near that is the large kitchen, garden, and hammock area, and then upstairs is a second hammock area, plus a third bedroom and bath. All of this was fine with us - very unusual but a lot of fun - and the spaces are fascinating and very nicely appointed. Anyway, we loved it and would happily return."

It is a very modern luxury house with an excellent central location near the Historic Center of Valladolid. Very comfortable to come, relax and enjoy the city with family and friends. The house is located 4 blocks from the zócalo which is in the historic center of the city. Valladolid is an extremely safe city with several activities of interest for tourists.

- "The house is ideally located in Valladolid, one block from the main square and a short walking distance to several good restaurants. The house is of typical, 1950's Mexican concrete construction, and it is not anyone's idea of luxurious. Functional is a better descriptor. There are fans in the living area, but the only A/C is in the bedrooms. Beds are comfortable. Everything was clean. Aged and faded, but clean. The living area could use better seating, although it is possible to sit by the pool where it's shaded and pleasant. There's parking for one car. Internet was mostly good, but I did have trouble connecting when I was by the pool. Keep all food in the fridge because, being the humid tropics, ants will get into anything that is left out!! I think our relatives, accustomed to a nice big house in the States, thought the house was old and rundown, but my wife and I, who are more adventurous and accustomed to roughing it, thought it was fine. Just don't expect the Taj Mahal."

There are 2 other units on the property.
We have one travel crib for an infant available to whoever asks for it first.
Our outdoor pool is unheated. Our pool guy comes 3 times a week to clean and check levels. However, on windy days, leaves can blow into the pool.
If you'd like to go for a swim at night, you can turn on the lights in the pool. The switch is inside the tall cube beside the pool beside the huge traveler palm tree. Open the little wooden door on the back and bring your phone light to find the switch.
Like all neighbourhoods in Valladolid (and most of Mexico), some of our neighbours have dogs, chickens and/or roosters which you can hear from time to time. We're used to it. Most of our guests have not found it problematic but if you're a light sleeper, we suggest you bring ear buds.
You're welcome to use staples in the kitchen (oil, sugar etc).
Our gardener comes by every day.
We have a low charcoal grill BBQ - rather rudimentary but it works.
The pool does NOT have a fence around it so it might not be a suitable place if you have small children who might be unsupervised or can't swim.

The house is owned by local artist Carlos Osorio Cosgaya, musician of the musical trio Los Tachos.
The house is decorated like a small museum, showing works and photographs of Los Tachos history.
The house ade is 50 meters from the ADO bus station and 150 meters from downtown.

The space
The room has a private bathroom, bathroom with hot water, TV, wi-fi and a double bed.

The common room and hallways are decorated with paintings and photographs of Los Tachos.

On the back of the Airbnb is a small terrace with tables and a kitchenette (purified water, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, dishes and glasses).

During your stay
I can usually be reached by the Airbnb app. If there is an emergency on Airbnb I will try to arrive as soon as possible.

Access to the Airbnb is autonomous (via a code in the mailbox)
To access the Airbnb it is necessary to use a spiral staircase (it is in the photos of the Airbnb) if you measure more than 1.80 m or if you have a very large suitcase, it would be difficult to climb.
