At Cliff House enjoy a three season screened porch facing Desoto Falls and a breathtaking view into the canyon basin and the Little River 120 feet below.

Cliff House has two bedrooms with queen size beds both with views of the Falls with private baths. Both bed rooms are on the same floor with rest of the house. A half bath is available for your guests. The house includes a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with dishwasher, drip multi cup coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator/ice maker,dining area accommodating six, gas fireplace, washer and dryer, and the screened porch with balcony/deck and gas grill overlooking the Falls.
Cliff House accommodates four adults, and additional overnight guests are not allowed. Bedrooms are suitable for older children. Each accompanying child is considered a traveler.

Parking for two vehicles is on site, and overflow parking for daytime guests accommodated at street side. A second cottage facing the woods is now being offered, and this one is handicap/wheelchair accessible with separate dedicated handicap parking, including first floor bath and kitchen with no architectural barriers to wheel chair usage.

Cliff House and adjacent cottage are a three minutes walk to Desoto Falls overlook and Lake Desoto in Desoto State Park both visible from the cabin. Swimming and canoe launch are available at the park. Cliff House is three miles from the historic town center of Mentone Alabama where restaurants, shopping, banking and service stations are located. The property is 20 miles from The Little River National Preserve and Visitors Center administered by The National Park Service. Desoto State Park (Lodge and Restaurant) is a four mile drive. Driving to other cities; about 2 1/2 hours to Atlanta Georgia, Birmingham Alabama, or Nashville Tennessee and 45 minutes from Chattanooga Tennessee. These cities are all served by regularly scheduled commercial flights with Chattanooga (CHA) being the most convenient. This Beautiful Cabin was taken timber by timber from its original location in Etowah County, Alabama. The cabin is pre-civil war in construction, it was reconstructed using the old mortar technique and then added on to in its current location. The Cabin sits on a private road behind a gate. Secluded is an understatement. Fenced yard for your doggies!. It is situated on a bluff overlooking the Crystal Clear East Fork of the Little River, just below a waterfall which can be heard as soon as you open the door to the car during the wetter seasons. We have an inviting front porch with a cozy antique swing where many a book has been read in the fragrant mountain air. The Cabin itself retains all of its antique charm as you enter the Great room with its enormous original stone double sided wood-burning fireplace serving the great-room and the Master bedroom both located on the lower floor. - "The property met all of our expectations. If you are looking for seclusion this is the place to go. Not far from DeSoto Falls and DeSoto state park. The river runs right behind the cabin and there are stairs that lead directly to it. The cabin was fully stocked with everything we needed and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The master bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on and the master bath was nothing short of amazing. We will definitely be returning in the fall this year."

Even though our cottage is equipped with satellite TV which means you won't miss your favorite ball game in the fall, most of you will leave it off to enjoy your restful surroundings. The large porch is the perfect place to enjoy the cool shade of the trees in the summer and colorful fall. The winter months reveal the beauty of the valley below and the ridges in the distance.
Family, friends, or just the two of you can enjoy the rustic pine paneled 'gathering room' where you can read books, play cards or board games, watch TV, or cook up something is the fully equipped kitchen. On a chilly day enjoy a fire in the gas log stove on the stone hearth. There is a small stone patio with a charcoal grill for your cookouts.
The two bedrooms each have a queen sized bed with linens and warm comforts. Each room has storage space in chest of drawers and good closet space. The sofa opens to sleep two if needed. The two bathrooms are equipped with towels and tissue.

The wraparound porch was nice and it had many rocking chairs to sit and admire the view. We went to some waterfalls in the area, and it was also close to the Boy Scout camp, Camp Comer, where my son was working for the Summer, so we could visit him when we wanted. We also took a day trip to Rome, Georgia. It was a good break from the 100+ temperatures from where we're from! Check in was easy, and communication with the rental agency was great. This is simply the Nicest and Best Appointed cabin in Mentone. I should know considering then next three in line are also our cabins! AND I designed and decorated it. This Beautiful Cabin was taken timber by timber from its original location in Kentucky. It has a sister cabin many of you have stayed in-Fernweh-666662. IT is new-old construction taking over a year to build. Construction finish date was November 6th 2016. It is also a sister cabin to 'Away from it All' vrbo-480579 which many of you have had the pleasure of staying in. The cabin is model pre-civil war construction, it was reconstructed using modern mortar technique and then added on to in its current location. The Cabin sits at the end of a private gravel road on 25 secluded acres on the deep section of the Little River. Has a fenced yard for your doggie. Secluded is an understatement. It is situated on a bluff overlooking the Crystal Clear East Fork of the Little River, just below a waterfall and a creek which can be heard as soon as you open the door to the car during the wetter seasons. We have an inviting large covered front porch with swing and with a larger open uncovered front porch with ample log furniture where many a book has been read in the fragrant mountain air. There is also a covered and screened back porch and an open Back porch! The Cabin itself retains all of its antique charm as you enter the Great room with its stone double sided wood-burning fireplace serving the great-room and the Master bedroom both located on the lower floor. The Upstairs is separated by a staircase that leads to a private spacious upper loft that contains a King and 2 Queen Beds. The Master Bedroom downstairs is off of the Great-room and is garnered with mountain views through perfectly placed casement windows and King Bed, situated perfectly so that you can see the woods and sunrise from the bed. Enjoy the Wood Burning Fireplace in the Bedroom. Off of the Master Bedroom is a Beautiful Master bath with stone walk in shower and copper slipper tub, set below a large window overlooking the woods. All sinks were imported from a copper-smith in Mexico. There is a fully functional kitchen with stainless Full size appliances/dishwasher/stove/oven/refrigerator/freezer/microwave and all cooking supplies you could possibly need. One Bathroom Downstairs off of the Great-room with a combo-shower and bath Samsung HE Washer and Dryer, and a Master Bath off of the Master Bedroom with a Walk in Stone Shower, and Large Copper Slipper Tub. High Efficiency Samsung Washer and Dryer. 2 Flat Screen TV's with Direct TV up and downstairs with /DVD/Wireless Internet/Direct TV Network Sports/Central Heat and Air. I Message available-Cell phone coverage is available from the front porch though it can be spotty at times. I-phones work great through I-message or KIK/any internet messaging service. There is a Master Bedroom that overlooks a large elevated back porch over the river canyon and the river can be heard from an open window. There is a large stone hearth wood burning fireplace in the bedroom. The Bedroom opens onto a cozy screened in porch with a 5 person water therapy spa/hot-tub. There is a charcoal grill on the back porch. There is a fire-pit and picnic area above the river, and a built in natural trail to the river itself where depending on the water level you can swim/float/fish/lounge in the crystal clear mountain water. The house is about 10 minutes from Downtown Mentone, AL and 15 minutes from Fort Payne, AL for antique shopping/cultural activity/or fantastic food and music at the Wildflower Cafe or other restaurants. The canyon is also about 10 minutes away, and 5 Minutes from Alpine Boys Camp, Desoto State Park, Desoto Waterfall, and Lake. There are wildflowers galore and wild blueberries and blackberries and plums along the road depending on the season. Wildlife abounds everywhere. The Tin Roof provides a great sound to sleep to when it rains. The Cabin is beyond secluded on a private road. We accept 1-2 day rentals during the week-Mon-Thursday depending on availability, and 3 day rentals for the weekends. When you ask about dates we will respond with a contract sent to your email address if your dates are accepted and available. Canyon Falls Cottage is on a canyon estate with overlooks of Desoto Falls. The cottage is NOT on the rim of the basin below the falls, but the falls are visible from the second floor bedroom. The canyon estate is three miles from the Lookout Mountain village of Mentone Alabama.
At this rural estate you will be surrounded by 80 year old Mountain Laurel and Rhododendrons. The Desoto State Park above the falls on Little River is a very short three to four minute walk. The park trails are nearby. The Little River Canyon National Park Reserve and Visitor Center is a twenty minute drive.
This cottage is HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE with one handicap parking and one traditional parking space, a ramp to the screened porch, wheelchair accessible kitchen, and bathroom with handicap transfer shower, toilet and lavatory.

Charming, Relaxing, and did I mention Location?! Originally built in 1940, with the heart-pine walls, floors & ceilings still intact. Quaint "wavy board"/live edge timber exterior from local sawmill. 2BR/1BA. Fully furnished including those inviting rockers on the perfect front porch (with cedar railings by local artisan Jeff Rymer). 2-car carport. Property plumbing and wiring updated during a remodel in 2004. Great yard including what is perhaps the prettiest native holly tree in Mentone!

What makes this place so great is how easy it is to walk next door to the market if I need anything. I also love that I can walk to and from dinner if I choose.

There are multiple options for coffee in the mornings. There is a coffee maker for traditional coffee grounds (medium or coarse) and also a Keurig option for K-Cups. Coffee grounds and K-Cups are not always provided so we recommend bringing your own.

1. Guests acknowledge that they will keep their noise level to a minimum after 10:00 pm; please be respectful of the neighbors

2. No parties or events allowed

3. Guest must provide us with a valid working phone number & guests listed on the reservation must report to us within 2 hours from the time of arrival if anything in regards to cleanliness does not meet their standards so we can help address the situation as soon as possible

4. NO SMOKING or use of fire permitted in the rental; guest acknowledges that no `smoking` includes the use of vape pens and marijuana and `use of fire` includes the lighting of candles, incense, or sage. There will be a $200 charge per day of reservation if this rule is not followed

5. There can not be any more than the allowed number of guests in or on the property at any one time, violation could lead to the immediate removal of all guests without a refund

6. Late check-out fee of $50 (if not authorized) applies for check-outs after 11:00 am. We`re sorry we have to charge this but we pay our housekeepers based on the agreed-upon checkout time and if they are unable to clean we still have to pay them

7. Guests who make reservations for over 30 days must sign our standard lease agreement and agree to a background check before check-in (it will be provided before check-in)

8. As part of our commitment to maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for all guests, we require a midterm cleaning for reservations lasting 30 days or longer. The midterm cleaning will take place on the 15th day of your reservation. This cleaning is mandatory and is designed to ensure the continued cleanliness and hygiene of the property

9. The cleaning fee for the mandatory mid-stay clean will be deducted from your security deposit or through Airbnb resolutions if you booked via Airbnb

10. No pets are allowed.

11. Excessively dirty units will incur an additional cleaning fee and will be evidenced with photos

12. For your security and protection the property is equipped with an exterior camera

13. Please remember to take all of your belongings with you upon checkout. Any items left behind will incur a $50 Mailing fee (separate from the cost of postage). We will do our best to send your items back to you within a week.

We are at the mercy of the calendar! The only way to guarantee early check-in is by booking the night before. If you want to take a gamble, you can wait until 24 hours before check-in to see if our schedule allows for it. If a guest is checking out the day of your arrival or if we have scheduled maintenance, early check-in may not be possible.
Late checkout will depend on the number of hours requested and if there is another guest coming that afternoon.
