An electric fireplace can provide heat in the winter or turn off the heat and just enjoy the glow in the evenings. A wonderful work space with seating for two with USB plug-ins, provides a great space to work while on retreat. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you'll need to make all your meals and snacks including plenty of dishes, pot and pans, a Keurig single cup coffee maker, coffee, creamer and sugar. A full spice rack is there if you need it as well as dishwasher, full size range and refrigerator with ice maker. From the kitchen, head up the stairs to the loft space for a nap or to dive into that new book you've been saving for vacay! Head back down the stairs and continue to the bedroom for a great nights sleep in the Queen bed complete with fresh linens and direct access to the back porch to take in nature and all the peace and quiet. The bathroom has a shower only and our fav shampoo, conditioner, and body wash and all the cozy towels you'll need for you stay. Venture outside to the fire pit area and enjoy the smokeless fire pit and plenty of seating as well as the charcoal grill. Follow the trail to the lot behind the property to enjoy some reflection and meditation and get back to nature. Please note this property is not pet friendly.

- "The cabin had just about everything we needed. The interior was almost perfect. I tried to hang a few clothes and didn’t have a closet in the room with twin beds. The only hangers I could find were wire hangers and no where to hang anything unless I used the laundry/ storage room. The cabin itself was very clean, but I had to sweep a bunch of cobwebs and leaves from the front porch… not a big deal. The cabin was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. I would definitely come again and get the same cabin! "

At Cliff House enjoy a three season screened porch facing Desoto Falls and a breathtaking view into the canyon basin and the Little River 120 feet below.

Cliff House has two bedrooms with queen size beds both with views of the Falls with private baths. Both bed rooms are on the same floor with rest of the house. A half bath is available for your guests. The house includes a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with dishwasher, drip multi cup coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator/ice maker,dining area accommodating six, gas fireplace, washer and dryer, and the screened porch with balcony/deck and gas grill overlooking the Falls.
Cliff House accommodates four adults, and additional overnight guests are not allowed. Bedrooms are suitable for older children. Each accompanying child is considered a traveler.

Parking for two vehicles is on site, and overflow parking for daytime guests accommodated at street side. A second cottage facing the woods is now being offered, and this one is handicap/wheelchair accessible with separate dedicated handicap parking, including first floor bath and kitchen with no architectural barriers to wheel chair usage.

Cliff House and adjacent cottage are a three minutes walk to Desoto Falls overlook and Lake Desoto in Desoto State Park both visible from the cabin. Swimming and canoe launch are available at the park. Cliff House is three miles from the historic town center of Mentone Alabama where restaurants, shopping, banking and service stations are located. The property is 20 miles from The Little River National Preserve and Visitors Center administered by The National Park Service. Desoto State Park (Lodge and Restaurant) is a four mile drive. Driving to other cities; about 2 1/2 hours to Atlanta Georgia, Birmingham Alabama, or Nashville Tennessee and 45 minutes from Chattanooga Tennessee. These cities are all served by regularly scheduled commercial flights with Chattanooga (CHA) being the most convenient. Plan your romantic week-end or longer In the serene mountain magic surrounding Cliff House almost in heaven.

The flora and fauna are spectacular year around and Moonflower is an easy 1/4-mile walk to the heart of Mentone, where there are charming stores and restaurants and more on the way. Be sure to visit the nonprofit Mentone Arts Center, as well as Elevation Bistro, Wildflower Cafe, the Mentone Market, The Hatter Restaurant and other specialty stores in town and nearby.

Even though our cottage is equipped with satellite TV which means you won't miss your favorite ball game in the fall, most of you will leave it off to enjoy your restful surroundings. The large porch is the perfect place to enjoy the cool shade of the trees in the summer and colorful fall. The winter months reveal the beauty of the valley below and the ridges in the distance.
Family, friends, or just the two of you can enjoy the rustic pine paneled 'gathering room' where you can read books, play cards or board games, watch TV, or cook up something is the fully equipped kitchen. On a chilly day enjoy a fire in the gas log stove on the stone hearth. There is a small stone patio with a charcoal grill for your cookouts.
The two bedrooms each have a queen sized bed with linens and warm comforts. Each room has storage space in chest of drawers and good closet space. The sofa opens to sleep two if needed. The two bathrooms are equipped with towels and tissue.
The cottage is located 4.6 miles from downtown Mentone and 2 miles from Desoto State Park. Some of the many activities available for you include incredible water falls, hiking, horseback riding at the Dude Ranch and golf at Lil Mole Run. - "The rental was spotless. The beds were comfortable. The showerheads were high, which was nice for a tall person like myself. The wraparound porch was nice and it had many rocking chairs to sit and admire the view. We went to some waterfalls in the area, and it was also close to the Boy Scout camp, Camp Comer, where my son was working for the Summer, so we could visit him when we wanted. We also took a day trip to Rome, Georgia. It was a good break from the 100+ temperatures from where we're from! Check in was easy, and communication with the rental agency was great. We would stay here again."

The living room has a futon. The open plan living area leads to a large deck in back overlooking woods and a meadow graced by a wet weather stream. The large side yard is perfect for children to run and play and features an outdoor fire pit. A 2 minute walk down the quiet, dead end street brings you to the deck on the river with your own swimming hole (Average depth 4 1/2 to 5 feet, no diving!) complete with a natural cut to launch your kayak.

Sunshine Cottage is equipped with central heat/air, Wifi, Direct tv, washer/dryer, charcoal grill with your first bag of charcoal supplied, all new appliances (fridge has ice maker,) ceiling fans, wood burning fireplace with firewood supplied, 2 parking areas, LED lighting. A Britta pitcher in the fridge makes sure the coffee and tea supplied tastes just right.

Canyon Falls Cottage is on a canyon estate with overlooks of Desoto Falls. The cottage is NOT on the rim of the basin below the falls, but the falls are visible from the second floor bedroom. The canyon estate is three miles from the Lookout Mountain village of Mentone Alabama.
At this rural estate you will be surrounded by 80 year old Mountain Laurel and Rhododendrons. The Desoto State Park above the falls on Little River is a very short three to four minute walk. The park trails are nearby. The Little River Canyon National Park Reserve and Visitor Center is a twenty minute drive.
This cottage is HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE with one handicap parking and one traditional parking space, a ramp to the screened porch, wheelchair accessible kitchen, and bathroom with handicap transfer shower, toilet and lavatory.
There are two bedrooms on separate floors with private baths. Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washer and dryer, cathedral ceiling great room with gas vented log stove, large screen TV, WiFi. There is no outdoor grill due to the bear population.

Hope to stay here again." - "The craftsmanship, love and design of this cabin welcomed us into our long weekend of R&R with our sons. We were greeted by our host, a personal touch I’ve missed since the days of COVID contact free check in. Getting to learn the story behind works of art and how to use different features was a nice start to our trip. I am an amputee and I walk by day, and must use a wheelchair user by night. Finding truly accessible lodging that meets both my needs and allows my sons to have a great trip, is incredibly difficult. I cannot that the owners enough for taking the time to go above & beyond to ensure the first floor, porch & entry are truly accessible for wheelchair users or individuals with reduced mobility. Lastly, you can easily walk from the cabin to the trail heads to go to the base of DeSoto Falls and swim, or go to the area above the falls that also had easier access to swimming."

Cabin has one bedroom (king size bed) and one bathroom, has a full eat in kitchen with everything you need to cook and serve with. The cabin has a full size washer and dryer on site. It also has a wood burning fireplace ( one bundle of wood provided), screened in porch with hot tub, and a covered parking area. All bed and bath linens are provided. The property joins the Desoto State Park Management area, so you can hike to Little River from property.

I'm searching for a charming, beautifully decorated cottage designed for two—peaceful, intimate, and nestled near hiking trails that lead into a breathtaking State or National Park. The space should be non-smoking and pet-free, offering a serene retreat. Ideally, I'd love to hear the distant sound of a train whistle drifting through the valley, adding to the ambiance. A private campfire and a grill would make the experience even better, perfect for quiet evenings under the stars. And if nature allows, I'd be delighted to see deer gracefully roaming near a nearby pond. I know this might be a tall order, but I’m confident this hidden gem exists—if you find it, please pencil me in!

- "This place was quite a find! My husband and I found this place while looking for somewhere to stay for a wedding. It was perfect for a weekend trip! Bobbie was an awesome host and kept great communication with us. The cottage is cozy, well maintained and beautiful! It felt like staying inside a doll house. Very charming and decorated to the tee. The nature was stunning, and we enjoyed the wonderful views from the windows and porch. We enjoyed cuddling up on the big leather couch and watching a movie on our last night. Tucked in the forest, Guests will discover that Canyon Hideaway Cottage is a very spacious (2200+ square feet) home with a front porch, back porch and large screened side porch, nestled on 2+ wooded acres on the brow – all behind a security gate for seclusion, safety and privacy.

Guests will find that the cottage is decorated tastefully and well-equipped for any retreat with a solo stove, games and MANY books for your reading enjoyment. The views are infinite at this retreat property, as the entire backyard overlooks a beautiful valley with a breathtaking brow view to watch the sunrise, and the front porch view allows views of birds, deer grazing and other wildlife in its natural habitat. As you will see by the list of attractions and dining favorites provided to guests via email, there are many things to do and see in the Lookout Mountain area of Alabama, but for many Guests, this retreat property is the favorite, because it provides everything you could possibly want for a peaceful experience.

Guests agree that the heart of this home lies in the many seating areas where family and friends can gather together. At the forefront, a guest favorite is the large screened porch with its large swing bed and wood-burning fireplace. There is plenty of seating, and even a Big Green Egg for BBQ grilling. The Solo smokeless fire pit is directly behind the home and close to the back porch. The area is spacious enough for everyone to gather around the fire. “Rim of the Canyon Café and General Store” is less than 2 miles from the property and has s’more supplies and lots of other goodies for your retreat!

This home has an open floor plan, so that the spacious living room, dining area and kitchen ALL have a fabulous view of trees and mountains.

The living room has a lot of comfortable seating with two large couches and a comfy leather chair and ottoman. One sofa has a queen sofa bed that can sleep 2 guests very comfortably. Even our 9th and 10th guests can truly have a peaceful night’s sleep with amazing morning sunrise views!

We have a sofa bed kit (in a zipped case) with all-the-things:
-Dynasty 4-inch Cool Gel Memory Foam Mattress in an antimicrobial encasement
-2 queen pillows in antimicrobial encasements
-800 thread-count sheets & pillowcases

Also in the living room is a remote-controlled, large stone gas-log fireplace and a 55” HD Roku TV for streaming your own favorite subscription channels. Free WiFi (100+ Mbps). There are also many books and board games for endless hours of family fun.

Beside the large windows with views overlooking forest and the valley below, there is a dining table with plenty of seating, and nearby there is a small antique table with an additional two dining chairs available for Guests. Next to the kitchen, there is also an eat-in counter with 3 stools.

The spacious kitchen is well-equipped, and the chef in your family will love it! Guests will find plenty of spices, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and appliances needed to enjoy preparing meals together. You will even discover a large kitchen Island with plenty of room for meal preparation and a warming drawer! Behind bi-fold doors in the kitchen, there is a laundry area with a large washer and dryer.

There are two bedrooms on the main floor. The front bedroom boasts a queen bed, comfy chair, an electric fireplace, and a 40” HD Roku TV. There are beautiful window views into the woods, and next to the bedroom is a full bathroom with a sink, shower and toilet.

The next bedroom on the main floor is the primary bedroom and has a queen bed, television and comfy sitting area. There is also a large antique desk and chair - perfect for those who are looking for a great space to work remotely. The mountain views from the large window are breathtaking, as they overlook the eastern Broomtown Valley. You can capture the sunrise each morning. Next to the primary bedroom is a very spacious bathroom that includes two separate vanities, a large shower and a large soaking bathtub with a large window that gives picturesque views into the woods of the retreat property.

Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. Another guest favorite - one bedroom boasts a queen bed and Roku television, along with a step-up, reading nook with the best window views in the home. The comfy chair in the reading nook simply offers a peaceful escape while you read or take in views the mountains – from the greatest heights, overlooking Broomtown Valley. Next to this bedroom, there is another full bathroom with a shower, vanity and toilet.

Another bedroom on the second floor is directly across the hall, and this adorable bonus room boasts an additional 2 twin beds.

Alabama's own native plants and a variety of wildlife can be seen each morning as you enjoy your first cup of coffee or hot tea. Listen close for the footsteps of deer going to and coming from the National Preserve that is so close to this property.

Note: The separate garage is used only by the retreat property owners, but guests can park directly in front of the two garage doors, and there is also a spacious turnaround area that can be used for parking. The parking area has sidewalk access to the front porch and side screened porch. (3 cars max)

Cozy cottage nestled in the woods with large screened in porch to listen to the birds. Bedrooms have blackout blinds for a prefect night sleep. Fire pit for evenings with the family. Only one mile to Mentone brow park to watch beautiful sunsets. We have games for the rainy days. Fully stocked kitchen. We are 1.4 miles from Lil Mole Run golf course, and best of all a private creek to walk and enjoy all to yourself.
