Summary:
Welcome to Lake Lure! Leave the world behind as you ride the funicular down to The Enchanted Cottage. The indoor living space will make you feel at home, but the real magic happens when you step onto the porch and greet the beautiful Lake Lure! This classic lakefront house features three porches, a fire pit, dock, and pontoon boat available to rent. We have a great view, overlooking the mountains, Rumbling Bald Ridge across the lake, and the spots of some famous scenes from Dirty Dancing.

The Space:
Due to Hurricane Helene, The lake will be closed to all use for the summer of 2025

The Boat house rooftop deck will not be available for the 2025 season. We have torn it down and will rebuild it in the off season. The dock is still available for your use during your stay.

The Enchanted Cottage has four bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed, plus two twin beds in the downstairs rec room. All linens are provided, along with additional blankets for chilly nights. There are three full bathrooms, equipped with towels, soaps, and shampoo.
Our large dining table seats 10, and nearby bar stools seat two more.
We have board games, puzzles, and a foosball table for rainy days and family time.
There is a full kitchen with a drip coffee maker, microwave, crockpot … just about everything you need.
The cottage has central AC and heat, but you may end up not using the AC, as the cool breeze off the lake feels fantastic!
A gas log fireplace is there to warm you up in the chillier months.
Our large, screened porch with two ceiling fans is perfect for rocking, dining, playing games, napping, or listening to music (and it's big enough for everyone).
The outdoor fire pit is a great spot for making S'mores and reconnecting.
If you would like to rent the pontoon boat please let us know so we can get you in touch with the boat captain. The cost is $650 for the duration of your stay.

Guest Access:
Total access to the whole house and all of the porches/decks/docks you can handle! You can get to the main floor by simply riding the funicular, but you'll need to walk down a couple of flights of stairs to get to the boat house. One important note - our tram adds an incredible amount of convenience, but it is not always available 100% of the time. Power outages or maintenance issues sometimes mean the tram won't be available. Anyone staying with us needs to understand that climbing the stairs may be necessary.

The Neighborhood:
One of our visitors had this to say about the Enchanted Cottage: “The house is nice but you honestly don't spend much time in it. The dock and porches are fantastic. The use of the boat is great for driving out to a cove and swimming or finding the rope swing.”

Our large screened porch with two ceiling fans is perfect for rocking, dining, playing games, napping, or listening to music (and it’s big enough for everyone). The outdoor fire pit is a great spot for enjoying making S’mores and telling tall tales. And be sure to head out to the top of the boat house for some incredible star gazing!

Getting Around:
This area is car dependent. We have parking spaces for up to 4 vehicles. If you have more than 4 vehicles, you will have to make arrangements for parking your extras cars elsewhere.

Other Things to Note:
Our pontoon boat is your ticket to enjoying all of Lake Lure. Cruise the lake (license required, but we can help you get it quickly), catch some fish (permit required), and boat to some of the lake's restaurants. If you are interested in using our pontoon boat we do ask for $650 for unlimited use (most places on the lake rent them for over $800/day). The boat is typically available from late April through the October**.

**Additional note about our boat house. We suffered some damage to the deck above the boat house over the winter. For a host of reasons we were unable to complete the repairs before the busy summer season. The decision was made that it would be less disruptive for our guest's stays if we waited until the winter season to finish that project. Therefore, for the next several months, the upper deck on the boat house will not be available.

- "Our family of five (adults with kids/young adults ages 15, 18, 21) had a great time at the Enchanted Cottage. The property is beautiful and suited for everyone with access to a pontoon boat, kayaks, and SUPs. The screened in porch was perfect for mornings and evening together and the younger members in our group enjoyed the lower level after we retired for the evening. We loved taking the boat out to find places to swim and relax, and enjoyed baking day trips to surrounding places. We went rafting, zip lining, glass blowing in Asheville, and explored Grand Father Mountain--so much to see and do! The only snafu with our trip was related to the recent change in property management--we did not receive the communications about this and were left in a bit of a black hole for a few weeks while attempting to communicate with the previous owner/manager, but after doing some investigation on my own was able to connect with the new company and they were great. Rest assured that your reservation is secure if you made it with the previous owner/manager and are having trouble connecting. I only wish they had been a bit more proactive in preventing this pre-vacation stress. Otherwise, it was a beautiful property and great vacation, and no complaints at all with the new company who was gracious and responsive after finally connecting!"

The Farm Stand Cottage is just perfect for a quick easy getaway to the river! The Farm Stand was once a fruit stand used by a local farmer and was brought to this special spot, then retrofitted into a glamping cottage(*dry unit). This spot is located just down the river from the rapids and offers the most outrageously spectacular water sounds. Fall asleep listening to the rushing rapids of the French Broad River and wake up to them too! A sprawling covered porch with tin roof gives you that feeling of rustic living and makes for a great afternoon even it's raining. The comfy queen bed, kitchenette, and dining area make the inside feel cozy and modern. A well-maintained portable toilet is adjacent to the Farm Stand and The Bathhouse is an easy walk down river about 170 feet. It is the closest cottage(*dry unit) to the camp area, conveniently located for when your friends like to camp
but you want a soft bed.

Keeper's Cottage is a cozy one bedroom lakefront cottage with simply superb, awe inspiring views of Rumbling Bald and Shumont mountains. One of the oldest properties on Lake Lure, this charming cottage is very private, recently remodeled, and is centrally located in a family compound 2 miles from downtown Lake Lure, Ingles grocery, and approximately 3 miles from Chimney Rock State Park. Our convenient location also provides easy access - less than 1500 feet from the main highway!

The property comes with a king size bed (new mattress) and a pullout sleeper sofa to sleep a maximum of 4 people. The master bathroom has a romantic corner jacuzzi tub and shower combination, the second bathroom sports a delightful tile shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, range, dish washer, dishes, pots, pans, cutlery, toaster, coffee pot, and a gas grill is also provided for outdoor cooking. The cottage is approximately 972 square feet, with central heating and air, washer and dryer, a 4K Ultra HD TV with Dish Network, Netflix, and Hulu. Five Oaks is a cozy one-bedroom lakeview guest cottage situated on beautiful Lake Lure. It is the perfect spot for a romantic relaxing getaway vacation for two, or for a couple with one or two small children. Lake Lure is nestled in the narrow groove of Hickory Nut Gorge just 25 miles southeast of Asheville, NC. It was named by National Geographic as one of the ten most beautiful man-made lakes in the world. Several movies, including Dirty Dancing have been filmed at Lake Lure. There is a never-ending variety of outdoor activities to be enjoyed in and around the lake, including swimming, fishing, diving, kayaking, canoeing, and hiking.

Five Oaks Cottage was built in 2005 and is tastefully decorated and equipped with a full kitchen and bath with shower. We supply linens, towels, and hygiene products for our guests and an information booklet listing local activities and attractions to help make each guest's stay both memorable and enjoyable. Guests have full access to the dock and boathouse rooftop deck for swimming, fishing, lounging, and enjoying the spectacular views of the lake, the gorge, and Chimney Rock Park. We also provide use of a canoe and a kayak so you can tour the lake and visit sites of interest such as the cove where portions of Dirty Dancing were filmed. There are also some very nice restaurants that can be reached by water.

The cottage is situated behind the main house and has lake views from most windows and from the attached deck. The cottage is therefore not lakefront, but rather lake access. The boathouse and dock are about 150 feet in front of the cottage. About 15 stone steps lead down to the ground level of the main house. A stone pathway then leads you around the house. Another 15 steps will take you to the rooftop deck atop the boathouse, and another 15 steps will take you down to the dock at water level. Having to negotiate steps down to the water is the norm at Lake Lure because it is a mountain lake and the shoreline is steep. There are very few lodgings on Lake Lure that do not require the traversing of many steps to reach water level. Five Oaks Cottage actually has fewer steps to the water than many. Still, it may not be suitable for older folks or those with disabilities.

The cottage is equipped with wireless internet, a TV with satellite reception, a DVD player, and a collection of DVDs. Five Oaks is the cottage where the author/owner conceived and wrote the popular series of children's books called The Lake Lure Chronicles (Google 'Lake Lure Chronicles' to view). Shoal Creek Cottage is a circa 1920 farmhouse newly remodeled with modern amenities and vintage flair. Bikers and hikers will certainly enjoy the easy access to Dupont Forest as one access trail is located within short walk or bike ride from the cottage. Lynwood Cottage is a rare find. Nestled in the mountains with a cozy space and plenty of outdoor solitude. This is a rustic 1940's cabin that still has a feel of days past and is charming, but not new construction, so it comes with some signs of age. They love animal crackers, ginger snaps, saltine crackers, most fruits and vegetables. They don't eat tin cans (or grass) but they will eat a banana peel.

The Cottage sits at the end of a short road. A gate stops neighborhood traffic from entering the property. Guest can leave the gate open or closed during their stay.

About the interior:
Sweet Haus Cottage is so cozy and sweet, a perfect choice for a low key "staycation". Asheville is known for its artistic spirit and culture. We tried to capture that energy through the finishes, artwork and furniture pieces that we salvaged, repurposed and refinished for your comfort. Two guest rooms sleep up to six people and are comfortably appointed with beds and soft linens that were chosen to delight and encourage some great snuggling. Guest suite one features a romantic queen-sized four poster bed and a calm color palette. Guest suite two offers a custom built-in adult sized bunk with two full beds. There's absolutely nothing basic about these guest suites. A queen sized sleeper sofa accommodates two adults.

The main living area is a great place to kick back and read a book, relax, or enjoy the 42" smart TV after a day of exploring and hiking the many beautiful trails found in Asheville. You can stream apps like Netflix and Hulu or use the super fast WiFi on your mobile device.

Asheville has an amazing food & beer scene, but if you prefer to eat in, the kitchen is stocked with all the cookware necessary to make all your meals. Butcher block countertops, farmhouse sink, full stove/oven, microwave , dishwasher, garbage disposal, Kuerig coffee machine, and toaster.

If grilling is your thing, spill out into the large deck and breathe in the fresh forest air as you barbecue on the gas grill. Ingles Supermarket is a 5 minute drive down the road and Trader Joe’s is close by, too.

The property is a two-acre tract with a private shop and a karate dojo. The cottage unit is constructed to the front and accessed by the same driveway. Parking for the cottage is separate from all other parking and next to the cottage. Owner’s home is visible and located on property but accessed by separate drive.

Outdoor space is for the sole use of guests. Plenty of area to ride bikes, throw ball/frisbee or exercise. We have a basketball goal with ball!

Clean comfortable indoor space. High-speed internet, 52” Vizio Smart-TV in living-room, 32” Roku Smart TVs in both bedrooms. Keurig coffee with free provided variety k-cups and teas. In the tub/shower you will have shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The washer/dryer is solely available for our guests with laundry detergent provided. Many more amenities!

Guest access
Guests are free to enjoy all outdoor space… gazebo with table/seating, grill and garden pond, a fire-pit with provided firewood and relaxed seating. Free access to small vegetable garden (seasonal).

Other things to note
Oak Gove Cottage is tucked away in a peaceful area just outside of Asheville. Easy to access and convenient to all locations.

We are on a private well, so water is fresh and abundant. Outside receptacle is available near parking for EV’s. Coming in separate vehicles? No problem… we have plenty of parking with three spaces dedicated to the cottage. Please, no motorhomes or RV’s. The driveway cannot support maneuvering of large/long RV or pull behinds.

Our property offers the best in security with outdoor cameras for driveway and parking. Serenity and privacy is here to enjoy! Step out the door and be greeted by nature away from traffic.

Welcome to Frog Holler Cottage, located right on the AT in Hot Springs, NC. This couples paradise is a great place for anyone looking to unwind & enjoy a quirky but quiet Appalachian hiking town. Only a block from downtown makes it easy to enjoy everything Hot Springs has to offer. Here you can: Raft the French Broad, hike the AT, ride horseback through the mountains. End your day with a soak at the spa and a delicious meal at one of the many great restaurants in town. Hot Springs has it all!

The space
Frog Holler has all of the vintage cottage charm with modern conveniences. Our space has a well-equipped kitchen, featuring a next-level coffee & tea bar. The living room is cozy and features a smart TV to stream all your faves. The dedicated workspace and fiber optic WiFi make it perfect for a staycation. Additionally, the sofa converts into a comfy full bed. The spacious bedroom features a super comfortable king sized bed; off of the bedroom is the bathroom, laundry and a private porch with an outdoor dining table and chairs. The sweet backyard features a fire pit, grill, picnic table, and hammocks!
