" - "The place is clean, I was supplied with what we needed for our stay and kitchen is fully equipped, it’s a golf course, very pleasant, and it’s gated there is security lots of places to walk there is a waterfall near by I travel with family, my children went on walks early morning to the waterfall near by and chilled by the fireplace at night, has a chimney it’s very nice at night, works great, there is a small laundry area, there is 3 levels master is comfortable size and has its own bathroom. Overall was a great experience. It’s at the top of the mountain, and does have all the dining options and shops at the bottom. Groceries near by as well. Check out it’s at 10am, has balconies to seat and relax sip coffee, hot cocoa, lovely weather too, oh we even spotted a bear so yes! There are bears roaming the property, for us that was a plus."

The Lodge feels like a mountain lodge from the 40s or 50s that has been transported to modern times with all the modern amenities and comforts you’d expect from a modern upscale hotel. The on sight restaurant, Appalachia, has some of the best food you’ll have on Lake Lure. Great views again overlooking the lake. A well stocked bar. They recently added a boathouse down on the lake that has a dock bar as well as paddle boards and kayaks. You can even book an evening cruise on the lake on their new pontoon. The owner was on sight our week as well and is a wonderful person to talk to as well as he pitches in to serve food and make sure everyone is doing well and is enjoying. The general manager does the same and the staff are all top notch. We will be going back for a stay!"

We are also just 5 miles west of vibrant Downtown Asheville and a mile from access to the major roads that take you to the best state and national forests in our area. We are just 6 miles from Bent Creek Experimental Forest, The NC Arboretum and the Blue Ridge Parkway, ideal destinations for hiking and cycling. Biltmore Estate and Asheville Outlets are merely 6 miles away as well.

Getting Around:
Parking on Haywood Road in West Asheville is limited. Generally, look for street parking or turn into a neighborhood and park on one of the side streets. For Downtown parking, we usually head to one of the parking garages if we don't see metered street parking. Biking or to Haywood Road during the day is also an option and is about 1.5 miles. Uber and Lyft operate in our area, and Asheville Taxi is a good option as well, though you would likely need to meet them at the top of our driveway.

Malvern Hills Haven was built with extra soundproofing for privacy, but you may hear some muffled musical instrument practice and some of the sounds of our active family. We will observe- and ask that you observe - quiet hours between 10pm and 7am each day.

We have a sweet rescue dog, Sprocket, who may bark when you arrive. Though his invisible fence encompasses the parking area, he will not be in the backyard unsupervised when guests are present.

Our Airbnb is on Haywood Rd, on the east side, between the River Arts District and central West Asheville. Some people call it "East West Asheville" because it is the east side of west Asheville.

Getting Around:
The West Nest is conveniently located and is bikeable to downtown Asheville, walkable to the River Arts District, and of course, it is walkable to everything in West Asheville. Our apartment is on the bus line, so if you want to get around without a car, you've found the right spot!

Other Things to Note:
We are in the center of West Asheville. We think our space is perfect for those who want an urban experience, but not for those travelers looking for a quiet getaway. There is a lumber yard next door (not active at night) and traffic on Haywood Road. It is not loud in the apartment, and not different than any city apartment, but it is not the silent mountain retreat either, so we hope that our guests are looking for a place where they are in the heart of it all.

Over the ridge in the other direction is Mount Pisgah, and the Bent Creek Mountain bike area. There is plenty of space to spread out, with two separate living rooms, both with large comfy couches and TVs and plenty of games (including a shuffleboard table!).

The Space:
The Master bedroom is on the main level with an en-suite bathroom. There is another bedroom and bathroom on that level and the upper level has 2 full-sized beds, a sofa bed, and an additional bathroom. On the lower level is the game room, stocked with a variety of entertaining games, a 65" television, a card table, shuffleboard, and a ping pong table. This area boasts a large sectional sofa, perfect for lounging.

Outside, the serene views from the covered front porch offer a great place to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening cocktail. Surrounded by nature, you will feel like you are miles from civilization.

Our house is in Candler, NC which is a small community just to the west of Asheville, close to the ridge that climbs up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Mount Pisgah.

- "We were in the area to mountain bike at Bent Creek. The house was just what we hoped for. Clean, great location and very spacious. Hosts were very responsive." - "Really was a home away from home. Had everything you needed. Bruce kept in contact with us. Loved it!" - "New house, “on a hillside”, which meant narrow gravel driveway with drop offs on both sides. Solar lighting along the drive didn’t work, it was scary driving in at night in the rain! The kitchen was very nice, we were able to cook meals and it had all the pans and utensils we needed. However, the house was advertised as sleeping ten, which it can, but, there’s NO dining table. There are two wooden bar stools and then a bistro table on the side. There was no room for the 7 of us to eat together. (3 of our family members live nearby, they didn’t sleep there). Three nice bedrooms but only one has a closet with a clothing bar to hang clothes on. Upstairs bedroom very nice and large but no closet to hang clothes. Game room was nice, the ping pong table is in the garage and was dirty, something had obviously been spilled on it (and there was only one ping pong ball). The garbage bins being right up against the table wasn’t great. Gotta say, the cleanliness wasn’t good overall. Sofa pillows smelled awful. Dropped an earring that went under the bed that I had to crawl around to find and no one’s ever cleaned under there! Could be a really good place to stay with some attention to detail. A few overhead lights were out. Bruce did get right back to me when I texted asking if the driveway lights were on a timer because they weren’t on when we arrived after dark. He explained they were solar. But solar doesn't work on a dark rainy night."

Looking for cheap spot to stay that accommodates your achey back and gives back to the community? Look no further! This tiny house is located on Misfit Mountain Animal Rescue and overlooks the whole property. Wake up in the morning to a coffee and take a stroll down the road to visit the pigs and chickens that are up for adoption, or sign up to walk a dog from the rescue-and maybe even adopt it! When you stay here you help support animals in need!

The space
This is a pet friendly one bedroom tiny house with a Frig, Air Fryer, TV, Keurig, AC and Heat. There is no bathroom in the tiny house but there are two porta potties and an outside shower (only available from April until October)-just a short walk away. There are camping amenities and daily amenities (wash basin, plates, silverware, towels and rags) in the cabinets under the counter. Outside of the tiny house you can find a fire pit and picnic table. There is also a community fire pit you are free to use.

This listing is located on an animal rescue that has pigs, chickens, and dogs. The tiny house is located on 12 acres but close to the highway/road so you will hear highway noise. Please do not book with us if you are a light sleeper and need complete silence. We know it’s not the most “ideal” location but you’ll enjoy your time at the rescue. Please note that we’ve only been open for 4 years and are still rebuilding from being demolished from Hurricane Helene. If you are looking for fancy-this isn’t it, but if you are looking for clean, cozy, and a community of love then we got you!

You can access the whole property except for gated off animal areas, inside electric fence areas, the barn, and locked buildings.

Please note the bathroom is a porta potty and the shower is an outdoor shower located a few hundred feet away down the campsite road tucked by the creek and near the pigs. (Shower is only available April until October). There is a Pilot Center on Crabtree Rd. In Clyde with showers that you can use outside of throes months. Shower directions are posted inside the tiny pump house to the left of the shower as well as inside the airbnb.

This tiny house has no running water but has a water storage container that we fill for each stay automatically.

This tiny home has electric, tv, coffee, air fryer and heat/ac.

There is some wood located by your fire pit for use. Additional wood can be found near the shower. In Addition, feel free to use any downed or dead wood found on the property. Do not cut down live trees. Wood is first come first serve.

All fires must be extinguished before leaving the property with the fire bucket provided and the creek water located by the pig pen.

Home is located in a gated community on dead end street with private entrance into guest suite. It has a comfy queen bed, easy chair, dresser and closet. Fun furnishing with room to sit and work or relax and have a cocktail. Kitchenette includes microwave, mini fridge, drip coffee maker and more. Roku TV and WiFi make your time spent inside pleasant. Bathroom has a full size tub. Outside you can enjoy a wooded yard, relax on our covered patio with furniture and a fire pit out in back yard. We are located in an area with wooded trails, a small lake and hills to climb. Dogs on leash get a work out with you. I have a large dog crate you can use but prefer you to bring your own that your dog is familiar with. If you are going to be gone a while, leaving it here, this is what I would like. The back patio is gated and dog can be out there but only if you are around. Thanks for understanding.

There is a gate code to enter the neighborhood which I will provide along with directions to get to the house. Occasionally GPS maps are confusing. Park only on the right side of my driveway not in the road. Speed limit in community is 15mph.

Other things to note
You will love the serene drive as you enter the neighborhood. There is lots of wildlife from birds and squirrels to rabbits and groundhogs. Even an occasional fox or bear. We are located in a camp and occasionally roads are blocked off so use the directions that I will provide. The small lake is beautiful and located at the other end of my road. PLEASE let me know if you are bringing a DOG.

Looking for a convenient, private and peaceful place to land for your visit to the area? Our home is ideally located in a quiet neighborhood, walking distance to downtown Black Mountain, Lake Tomahawk and the golf course. The mountains surround this valley, offer great views and event better hiking. We are a 10 min. drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, 15 min. to downtown Asheville and only 50 min. to skiing! Whatever your reason for visiting this part of the state, you are welcome in our home.

The space
Your bedroom has a famously comfortable queen sized bed, a small refrigerator, coffee pot and tea kettle. We provide locally-roasted coffee (Dynamite Roasters) and a variety of teas. Dairy and non-dairy creamer, local honey and raw sugar also in your room along with a couple of bottles of filtered water. We use 100% natural products for cleaning your space and linens and steam clean your room and bathroom with lavender essential oils before you arrive.
Your private living room and patio are down the stairs that are behind the glass door next to your bedroom and immediately to the left.

If you need additional sleeping space (for up to 2 additional people), there is a queen-sized sofa bed in the private living room. There is a $20.00 fee per night if someone (or two) is sleeping in that room. Please let us know in advance of your arrival if you would like us to make that bed up for you and have extra towels available. The additional fee can be paid in cash in person when you arrive.

We clean the apartment ourselves, do not charge a cleaning fee and don't ask you to do any chores before you leave.

Guest access
You have a private living room and covered patio where you can watch TV, sip morning coffee with garden and mountain views. Outside of your private patio there is a fire pit with seating to enjoy the stars or mountain views.

You are welcome to store your bike(s) in your living room and use our hoses to clean off your bikes after tackling the local mountain biking trails or any other equipment.

During your stay
We are friendly and happy to interact with you as much or as little as you like. Same goes for our kittens and dog, although we ask that you let us instruct our dog on proper behavior with guests. She usually barks when meeting someone new. Please let us know if we can give you suggestions on where to go, what to eat and do while you are visiting. We have a guest binder in your room full of information about use of our home, Black Mountain, Asheville and the surrounding area. You'll also find several of our personal hiking, mountain biking and brewery books in your room for you to check out.

Other things to note
We can usually be flexible on your arrival and check out times if you need. Please just give us a call or text if you need to arrive early or leave later.

We regret that we cannot accommodate service animals because of the reaction on the part of our dog.
