This recently restored, farmhouse style cottage, affectionately known as the Sugar Shack, is a one of a kind find in the heart of Downtown Franklin. Originally a railroad section house built in the early 1900's, it's had it's share of colorful history. It was once lived in by a woman named Beulah who sold moonshine durning prohibition. Small bottles and a funnel found under the house attest to the stories.

For visitors seeking the ideal escape, the Sugar Shack provides an opportunity to stay in a piece of history while enjoying every modern luxury and convenience. The recipient of a 2017 Award of Merit from the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County, this cottage was designed with cozy spaces, vaulted ceilings, luxe furnishings and spa like bath amenities for the ultimate retreat. The gourmet kitchen is every cook's dream with state of the art appliances, five burner gas stove, pot filler faucet and oversized farm sink and quartz countertops.

Every detail has been meticulously considered, including the floors which are made of reclaimed elm from a threshing mill. A brick fireplace was found hidden inside the walls and has been exposed and reassembled to create a new gas fireplace and the wall above it is faced with the poplar wood from the original sub flooring of the house. The original wood siding of the house was milled and used as an accent wall in the kitchen.

The property also has an amazing outdoor space that features two cedar porches with a custom made swing and seating, a designer gas fire pit with surround seating and a beautifully landscaped yard with pea gravel paths.

Best suited for two adults due to the high end details fixtures and furnishings, this property is ideal for a romantic retreat, honeymoon or place of solace for the creative Artist. Although we love and have animals, absolutely no pets allowed at this special retreat. There is a city trolly that picks up at The Factory by which you can travel around the city and to the Cool Springs Galleria. Downtown Franklin is less than a mile from this home and is walkable by sidewalk.

- "Beautifully, well kept. Owner's communication was great and they even left us pastries. Property was very peaceful. Morning coffee walks and evening wine by the fire pit made the trip. One note, I suggest renting a car. Uber drivers are hesitant to go out to the area on weekends when they are busy in the City." - "It is everything the good reviews state. Storybook Cottage sits on a small plot of land in Leiper's Fork, just a short scenic thirty minute drive south of Nashville in the best community in the area. The close proximity makes it a perfect getaway for recording artists and entertainment professionals looking for peace and quiet during their stay in Nashville. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a little over a mile away and is perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding and scenic drives and 'Main Street' in Downtown Franklin is just a short twelve mile drive.

The Cottage features cathedral ceilings, one bedroom, plus loft and one bathroom with just over 800 sq ft of living space. The master bedroom has a king size bed, while the loft features two twin size beds. In addition to the one full bathroom, there is a charming, private, outdoor shower off the back enclosed porch. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need, from a bottle opener to pots and pans, baking dishes to forks and knives. You can look forward to enjoying a cup of coffee on the back enclosed porch, reading a book or taking a nap in the hammock and making s'mores over the crackling fire in the outdoor fire pit. For any who've never experienced an outdoor shower... do, do, do. There's something uniquely special about showering outside in the midst of nature, the sounds and fresh air.

Franklin Historic Cottage on the Old Womack Distillery in Historic Downtown Franklin, TN is centrally located to Main St and Civil War Battleground with a path in the backyard to the Creek that Womack Distillery ran their mills between 1900-1909. This stone cottage was built by Dr. Dan German in 1928 as a renter's cottage made of stones from Hillsboro Road stone fences. It's a Writer's Retreat in the heart of the lyrical Delta of Nashville (20 min); Muscle Schoals, Alabama (2 hrs); Memphis, TN in the heart of downtown Historic Franklin.

PARKING
For your safety and convenience, the Guest House has its own, separate driveway with a turnaround. The driveway is a few steps from the breezeway entrance, with just a single step from the breezeway to the Guest House door.

For the safety of you and your automobiles, no one else will use this driveway while you are visiting.

Please note: This is a well-managed gravel driveway, but due to our location it can have small sticks and leaves on it from time to time. Due to liabilities, parking on the main, concrete driveway is not permitted.

Our open concept kitchenette is modern and convenient, and features a quartz countertops, a stainless steel double sided sink, and a butcher block countertop. Please be aware that this is a *kitchenette* with only countertop appliances and a full size stainless steel refrigerator. It has a double burner portable cooktop and a countertop
convection oven, a full set of pots and pans, plus kitchen accessories, china plates and stainless dinnerware.

At the back of the kitchen, there is a closet that contains various utilities, like a broom, aluminum foil, ziplock bags and other conveniences you likely won’t want to purchase for a short term stay.

DINING ROOM
The downstairs features a dining area with a circular table and seating for five. The two custom art prints in the dining area are signed by local illustrator Joel Anderson, author of the famous Spirit of Nashville poster series (over 1000 original illustrations).

LIVING ROOM

BATHROOM
The Guest House features a full bathroom downstairs, just off the living room. The bath has a shower (no bath tub), modern single vanity, and floor-to-ceiling linen closet behind the door. We keep the bathroom fully stocked with fresh bath and hand towels and wash cloths. * Please be aware that the full bathroom is downstairs and the bedroom is upstairs*

MASTER BEDROOM
The entire upstairs is a spacious master suite, that features two hotel-quality matching queen beds and a single twin bed for your comfort and privacy. In addition, there is a walk in closet that includes hangers, an iron and ironing board, professional stand-up steamer, and extra bedding. *Please be aware that the bathroom is downstairs & bedroom is upstairs*

The bedroom includes a second Smart TV television with AppleTV, so you can watch Netflix or any other “cordless” network you prefer.

Please note: The Guest House does not have a washing machine or dryer. There are several modern and clean laundromats nearby.

SHOPPING
The Berry Farms development, located at I-65 and Peytonsville Road, is a brand new development that includes a Publix grocery store and pharmacy. You will also find a fun collection of restaurants and small boutiques, as well as a small walk-in clinic.

Just north of us is the Cool Springs development, which is one of the largest and most diverse shopping areas in the South. In addition to a beautiful mall (Apple Store, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, etc.), there are literally hundreds of restaurants, boutiques, and salons.

To the west is historic downtown Franklin, one of America’s most talked about historic renovations. The square is a ten mile drive (24 minutes) from the Guest House.

The Franklin square—complete with a classic roundabout— was a central focus of the Civil War, and is full of remarkable historical Brownstone buildings. In the 1990s, the downtown area (which at the time did not have a storm sewer system) experienced a huge flood that destroyed many of the beautiful historic structures. Through a grant from the federal and state governments, Franklin rebuilt the entire infrastructure of the city—and preserved everything that made us special.

A casual walk through The Square is an experience you do want want to miss. Be sure to check in for lunch or dinner at the famous Puckett’s Grocery, enjoy a cinnamon roll at Merridee’s, do some shabby chic shopping at The Iron Gate, and grab coffee at a very cool Starbucks, tucked into one of the original buildings in the Five Points intersection.

Of course, Nashville is Music City, USA! We won’t spend time here telling you all the things you can see and do in the Nashville area, because we would be here all day. To get to the legendary Music Row and downtown Broadway, just hop on 65 and keep driving north until you get to Nashville. On a good day without traffic issues, you can make it to downtown Nashville in 35 minutes. That said, be aware that this is one of the fastest growing cities in America, so try to avoid driving around town during rush hours.

WEDDINGS
Nashville has become one of the nation’s most popular destination wedding areas, and many of the most popular cites are minutes from the Guest House. Notably, we are just 8.3 miles from Franklin’s Graystone Quarry Event Venue.

MOVIES
One of the key features of historic Franklin is the original movie theatre. The Franklin Cinema sat vacant for years, due to both neglect and the staggering cost of renovations. A huge collection of residents, dignitaries and recording artists got together and raised millions to completely restore the cinema to its original glory. The Franklin Cinema now has both first run and classic movies playing almost every night, and also hosts hundreds of recording artists that normally would never perform in such a small, quaint space.

The state of the art Thoroughbred Cinemas complex is located in Cool Springs, and features 12 screens—including an IMAX theatre and several dine-in theaters with recliners.

We keep a collection of menus from local restaurants and coffee shops In the kitchen. If you find something fun in the area (new places are popping up all the time) grab a menu and leave it for our next guests!

HORSES
Our next door neighbors have three Thoroughbred horses, which are beautiful to look at but likely won’t be interested in saying hello. We do have a large white farm horse at the front entrance named Mischief, who is friendly and willing to be petted and pose for photos if he is close to the fence.

HOSPITAL
Williamson County Medical Center is located near the I-96 Franklin exit off of I-65, a 10 minute drive from the house.

Enjoy our private, dreamy guest house behind our home on our beautiful 8 acre property! Our modest home has a little elegance!! It is 320 square feet, with high ceilings, faux wood floors, kitchen and separate bath with soaking tub and marble tiled shower. ( NOTE-Smaller compact shower/tub to fit small space .) White walls, light and airy , soft gray tones and a few luxe items. There are lots of windows, quartz counter top and trendy back splash. Soft lush rug and chandeliers!

The space
We have a gravel driveway that leads you to the Guest House and we have a rustic country setting. (Sometimes the gravel driveway can get an occasional divot or two in areas due to the rain . FYI … but totally drivable. ) We have 2 houses on the hill as well as a barn and other back buildings but the Dreamy Guest House is behind the main home on the right . There are stepping stones to your space but no sidewalks as it is a farm, and we have a laid back, casual setting outdoors . We are close to shopping and restaurants and hiking trails and only 25 miles from Nashville . The Dreamy Guest House is adorable!

We are off Columbia Pike/Highway 31 on 8 acres in between 2 subdivisions . We have a long country gravel driveway . You will park at a designated parking spot in the back of the property behind the main house on the right and will walk on stepping stones to the Dream Guest House . We live on the property and will show you to the home . You can enjoy walking the 8 acre property. We have horses and outdoor cats !

Other things to note
Our property is a slice of heaven in this ever growing city! This dream tiny guest house is brand new and I invested all my savings into the beautiful space to create something special ! We ask that you remove your shoes when you enter to keep the lush rug clean and be careful with white walls and surfaces . This house was built with love and we want it to be treated respectfully and with extra care so it remains beautiful for all of our guests ! :) If you are comfortable being Conscientious yet cozy in our home, then this rental is for you . If you are not comfortable with these types of requests , then it is probably not the best place for you ! :)
Also, the shower is smaller sized as well as the tub to accommodate tiny house living . :)
Also note : we have a wall unit for air conditioner/heater. It does has a bit of noise but most guests are fine with that .
Also we are in a country setting , no sidewalks and the gravel road sometimes gets a little washed out in areas so drive carefully and just be aware.
We are also off of Highway 31 so make note of that too! I Also this is an entirely smoke free property. Also we do not allow pets, if you are bringing a service dog, we need to know in advance as there could be a higher cleaning fee. A Music City getaway! Charming 900 sq ft bungalow on picturesque horse property, just 10 minutes away from beautiful historic Franklin. Perfect for porch sitting or nearby hiking it is convenient to great restaurants, shopping and only 25 Uber minutes to Nashville's Honky Tonk Highway and music venues like the Grand Ole Opry. Popular attractions are the Country Music Hall of Fame, Cumberland Riverboat cruises, Nelson's Green Brier Distillery and beautiful Arrington Vineyards. You will luv it!

Also, located on our 8 acre property is the home my daughter, granddaughter and son in law. The park like setting lends itself to a quiet back to nature atmosphere. Nestled in the back of the property is a repurposed barn. We also have a small horse barn where I spend most of my time as I board several horses and give private individual riding lessons. A very peaceful environment with lots of trees, yet minutes away from historic downtown

This cottage is convenient to so many places. There are nearly 50 restaurants, historical attractions, live music, kayaking, shopping, and downtown Franklin all within a 3 mile radius. Best of all, Music City Nashville is a 30 minute drive. You can walk to one of the best Middle Tennessee Mexican restaurants and ice cream parlors within 3 minutes.

Guests will have access to the stone patio and gas grill in the fenced backyard. The hosts live on the property. There is also a private basement apartment called "The Suite Spot" with it's own entrance and separate from the house. At times both spaces could be occupied. The only shared spaces are the kitchen, dining, LR, basement laundry room, backyard and parking area. The parking area is huge so there would be no "parking" problems.

The space
The cottage offers two bedrooms with king beds with closet, the third sleeping area is a loft with a queen floor mattress and two separate full bathrooms. You will need to climb a ladder to access the loft so it's not ideal for small children or anyone experience difficulty with mobility. There will be basic kitchen items available as well as a washer and dryer. Unfortunately my family is highly allergic to most pet dandruff so we currently have a no pet policy in place. Thank you so much for understanding!

Our Home is a cozy and updated little Farmhouse built in the year 1900. Sorry no pets, please.
Your stay is the first floor, as the 2nd floor remains closed /unoccupied, so the entire place is private for you!
Our solid white walls and interior brick contrast our original rustic flooring. We hope you’ll relax well in our living area, sleep well in our comfy beds, view the stone walls and wildlife from our our back windows, and the foot of the mountain from our side door/fire pit area. We hope the weather allows for a nice front porch cup of coffee with the lovely view!

Rose Cottage charms her guests. This Victorian home was built in the 1890's and lies within the original surveyed five block square area of Historic Downtown Franklin. Rose Cottage is about a two minute walk to The Square and to Franklin's main attractions, venues and restaurants. There is no struggle to find a place to park with its location being closer than much of the available parking. It is quite convenient in the evening to be able to walk home from an evening spent downtown!

The space
When you arrive at Rose Cottage, you will be stepping back into the history of Franklin to enjoy a little piece of "times past" with its architecture and furnishings.
Even though the cottage has been completely modernized, it still is reminiscent of another time with careful attention given to the balance between old and new.
The cottage also features a private backyard where one is able to retreat from the bustle of downtown. The spacious covered patio area is perfect for sipping your morning coffee. The glider and rocking chairs predate WWII. Enjoy perfect outdoor dining at the picnic table. If you are interested in outdoor activities, a ping pong table, basketball goal, and croquet are available. There is also a portable fire pit, however you must supply your own wood.

Storybook Cottage sits on a small plot of land in Leiper's Fork, just a short scenic thirty minute drive south of Nashville in the best community in the area. The close proximity makes it a perfect getaway for recording artists and entertainment professionals looking for peace and quiet during their stay in Nashville. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a little over a mile away and is perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding and scenic drives and 'Main Street' in Downtown Franklin is just a short twelve mile drive.

The Cottage features cathedral ceilings, one bedroom, plus loft and one bathroom with just over 800 sq ft of living space. The master bedroom has a king size bed, while the loft features two twin size beds. In addition to the one full bathroom, there is a charming, private, outdoor shower off the back enclosed porch. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need, from a bottle opener to pots and pans, baking dishes to forks and knives. You can look forward to enjoying a cup of coffee on the back enclosed porch, reading a book or taking a nap in the hammock and making s'mores over the crackling fire in the outdoor fire pit. For any who've never experienced an outdoor shower... do, do, do. There's something uniquely special about showering outside in the midst of nature, the sounds and fresh air.

Dish TV and a selection of DVD’s. are available for your viewing pleasure. A washer and dryer are also available for your use.

*Please note that due to the incline of the stairs, the loft is not suitable for young children. There is a queen sleeper sofa for your use.

Franklin is a quiet neighborhood destination for relaxing. It's a great launching point for exploring all that Middle Tennessee has to offer. The house is a couple of blocks from historic Civil War sites, and a shady 20-minute walk to downtown shops.

The shaded walk to downtown is through quiet streets. Take a right and stroll down Battle Ave, then a quick leap over Columbia to Gist, then a left on Adams, left on 5th and arrive in the heart of Franklin.
