'Cochiti'- at 23 Mesa Encantado, is the highest, most private casita within the beautiful Pueblo Encantado development in the Tesuque area and is also one of only 2 free standing homes that are not connected to other casitas. This fabulous retreat offers the ultimate in seclusion, privacy and tranquility along with magnificent views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains and has spectacular New Mexican stargazing. Located right across the street from The Four Seasons~ Rancho Encantado, this casita is nestled into the foothills and has a stunning large main patio which expands the entire length of the house. It’s fabulous! Both bedrooms are very spacious. The master has a south-facing window wall, kiva fireplace (with romantic candles to use instead of firewood due to carpeting) and a screen door to the main patio which affords gorgeous mountain views. The guest bedroom has french doors (also with screen doors) that open onto a gorgeous private patio with it's own seating area and outdoor kiva fireplace (firewood included) Both bedrooms have extremely comfy carpeting and beautiful, recently renovated bathrooms complete with travertine shower walls and stone countertops. The living room has a cozy corner kiva fireplace, wood beams and has floor to ceiling windows with exquisite mountain views from all. Come to relax and play at a beautiful recreational retreat on 186 gorgeous acres in northern New Mexico. The spacious villa sits on a mountain ridge, surrounded by pine and juniper forest, that overlooks a valley of pastures. Enjoy spectacular sunrises on the huge wrap-around porch while getting your day started with a warm cup of coffee or tea and watching the horses graze. The villa, apartment, and all 186 acres are exclusive for you to enjoy with your reservation.

There are five splendid bedrooms in the main villa with comfortable beds, plenty of space, and artwork abound. There is also an apartment, which has its own kitchen, next to the event hall and the entire property is available for your booking. We have only one group of guests at any one time staying overnight. The ranch is ideal for large groups and we frequently accommodate twenty or more people.

Leaping Deer Ranch has a wonderful 1600 square foot event hall. It comes equipped with tables and chairs that can accommodate up to 60 people. The event hall has been used for wedding receptions and ceremonies, corporate events, community gatherings, and yoga retreats. The event hall has its own kitchen and restroom. Use of the hall is not included in reservation through Vrbo so please call if you want to add it to your stay. It's a great space for any event.

The kitchen is amazing and fully equipped to serve large groups of people. An abundance of granite countertop space and a large island. You’ll be able to fit all the cooks and guests in the kitchen to make huge meals and entertain everyone. There are two dishwashers, a wine and beer fridge, a paella pan, a vita mix, six burner stove, a stocked coffee and tea bar, and a breakfast nook in the kitchen.

The Great room is fantastic! It has a beautifully tiled fireplace (wood), oriental rugs, soaring ceilings, lots of seating, and wonderful arched windows to let in the moonlight or watch the stars. Adjoining the Great room is a large dining room that can be configured to seat large groups to dine. The dining room has its own custom tiled fireplace (gas).

There is a large barbecue grill on the garden patio. The front garden has a magnificent iron horse statue, Paco by Siri Hollander. Paco stands watch over the valley amidst an aspen grove, wild rose bushes, and stalks of mullein. In the front garden, there is a bonfire pit area that is surrounded by stone benches. When weather conditions are favorable the staff can be available to assist in the preparation and starting of a bonfire. There are very low levels of light pollution at Leaping Deer Ranch, so be sure to plan to do some star gazing during your stay. The night skies here are one of our very favorite features of the Ranch.

We rescued Athena, Ginger, Cheyenne, and Misty (our four quarter horses) from the slaughterhouse in 2009. They have been out to pasture at Leaping Deer Ranch ever since. They are super spoiled and have a great life. They love to meet guests at the ranch. Ginger is a bit shy. The horses like to spend most of the day near the lake. Feel free to go for a walk through the fields to meet the horses and bring them some treats. Note: the horses don’t like dogs, don’t bring your dogs to meet the horses.

We have an extensive art collection at the ranch. There are 31 fiber art pieces on display throughout the villa. The pieces are extraordinarily intricate and constitute one of the largest private collections of fiber art in the country.

The property has previously been used for modeling shoots, television series sets (Longmire), and even for a custom vehicle calendar photo shoot. It is truly beautiful at Leaping Deer Ranch so be sure to bring your best cameras because you’ll get some magnificent images. From the expansive wrap-around porch, you can look across the valley and see the wagon wheel rut trails from when the Santa Fe trail route passed through the area 170 years ago.

Guests are welcome to hike and explore the property, visit with the horses, and enjoy the natural beauty and energy that our land has blessed us with. There are many species of birds, wildflowers, hummingbirds, butterflies, insects, mushrooms, deer, elk, foxes, coyotes, and even an occasional sighting of a bobcat on the property. Be careful when bouldering up the ridge as many of the rocks are loose. There is a small cave on the north side of the ridge, go explore and see if you can locate it. A lot of people like to climb up on the rocks and find a spot to meditate.

Amenities
We have a hot tub that is a great place to enjoy star gazing. It needs to be said again, the night skies are spectacular if you have a telescope… bring it.

The wifi network has eleven hotspot routers to allow for coverage through the villa, apartment, and hall.

There are three custom tiled fireplaces.

We are home to the largest labyrinth in the State of New Mexico. After a month of work to prepare the ground and moving tons and tons of rocks, there is now a beautiful 98-foot diameter Chartres replica labyrinth. People use the labyrinth for reflective walks and meditations, it is a great metaphor for our journey through life.

We have free fresh eggs for you from our chickens. We also have some ducks.

We have an outdoor movie theater. It easily can seat 36 people. To schedule a movie night you'll have to make arrangements 24 hours in advance so that I can set up the equipment. The projector is bluetooth and has a DVD player.

VRBO only has the capability to bill for lodging. We offer a lot of additional services that we have to bill for separately. VRBO does not have the ability to charge for a party and this will also have to be billed separately. If you would like to have an event at Leaping Deer Ranch have a lot of support available to you and it will have to be billed separately from the VRBO lodging.

- We have a Wellness Center on the property that offers Yoga, meditation, massage, Reiki, and sound healings. Appointments are best booked beforehand but can be booked once you're here.
- Shooting at our private 250-yard rifle range. The cost per person is $10, and rounds and targets are not provided.
- A Matanzas-style pig roast, which can feed up to 40 people, is available. We need one-week advance notice for this. A pig roast will cost $1000.
- Personal chef service is available. The cost for meals is variable depending up what you’d like for a menu.
- A 1600-square-foot event hall for parties, receptions, corporate events, and more.

Our property was listed on VRBO in 2016. This stunning three bedroom, three bathroom villa is located in the Bishop's Lodge Villas adjacent to the Bishop's Lodge Ranch Resort & Spa. There are completely unobstructed 360 degree, panoramic views of the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo Mountains, yet the location is only four miles north of the Plaza!

The home is in the less densely populated, lower section of the Villas, offering the most privacy. We had the first selection of the Bishop's Lodge Villas, and opted for privacy, serenity, and spectacular views. There is a swimming pool (open Friday of Memorial Day weekend to end of Labor Day weekend) behind our villa that is shared with only the 6 other villas in our section and is very lightly used. The vast majority of the time it is empty.

The Pueblo-revival style, freestanding villa with wood-beamed ceilings has a fully-equipped kitchen with a gas stove, full oven, microwave and large refrigerator. Meals can be served at the granite counter area or at the adjacent dining room table that comfortably seats six, eight if needed.

The home's large, great room has a leather queen sleeper sofa, TV with a Premium Cable Package, and kiva fireplace. This gorgeous, welcoming sitting area opens onto a large patio where you can enjoy the same breathtaking views as the great room. The gas barbecue grill, and patio chairs and table, offer an inviting dining option.

The three bedrooms are furnished in classic Spanish style. The turquoise and red-accented master bedroom suite has a king bed, TV, and kiva fireplace. The en suite bathroom has both a shower and a whirlpool tub. The middle bedroom has two twin beds and overlooks the Jemez Mountains. The third bedroom is easily mistaken for the master bedroom and has a king bed, TV, kiva fireplace, and lovely views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Ski Santa Fe. Xanadu Villa offers the ultimate in privacy, size and comfort to its guests. From the treed 5 acre property you have views of the Jemez Mountains to the West and the Sangre de Christo Mountains and the Santa Fe ski basin to the East. Upon arrival and entering the enclosed front courtyard you are immediately struck with the uniqueness of the property. There is a large covered portal on the front side of the home with two different seating areas, one with a flaming firepit table. The thoughtfully placed hot tub and BBQ grill are placed just to the right of the portal. Adjacent to this area are the steps to the 900 square-foot observation deck with an outdoor sectional sofa and pub table with chairs and a gas heater. The views from the deck are spectacular. The sunset photos that you see were taken from this area. This deck is also conveniently accessible from the master bedroom.

Returning to the front portal you enter a covered entry 12 feet high which continues into the front of the home creating a dramatic entrance. Upon entering the home you immediately realize that a lot of thought went into maximizing the views from the home. Beautiful natural wood beams have been used throughout with wood decking above the beams and beautiful natural hardwood flooring giving the home its distinctive look. There is a large easy-flow kitchen with all new appliances and an extensive amount of storage space. The adjacent dining room has a corner fireplace and the table will adjust from a 6-person seating to seating for 10. The high ceiling and wood beams throughout the living room along with all of the tall windows make for a very comfortable gathering place. There is a gas fireplace in this room as well. There is a door leading onto a deck that offers views to the Southwest including the Santa Fe Opera. You can hear the music when the opera is in season.

Additionally, there is a full-size guest bathroom with a tub and shower on this level. When you enter the master suite once again you appreciate all of the beautiful wood beams used in the vaulted ceiling of the bedroom and the hardwood floors in the bath and closet area. There is a 4-poster bed, beautiful furniture, and a 60" TV that lowers from the ceiling. The large observation deck is also accessible from the master bedroom and there is an additional deck matching the living room area off the back side of the room with the same Southwest views including a small seating area.

The stairs to the lower level are very open with high ceilings as well and from the middle landing, you can continue down to the left leading to the family room and downstairs master bedroom or to the right leading to the 3 Queen bedrooms, the laundry and the garage area. The spacious family room also features a wood beam ceiling with wood decking and is beautifully furnished with custom-made furniture and features a bar to one side and another 65" TV that drops down from the ceiling. The views are too beautiful and since the room is all windows the drop-down TV is perfect. There is corner gas fireplace in this room as well. Just off this area is the lower level master bedroom with a King bed which is beautifully appointed, and has a 3/4 bath and walk-in closet. Around the staircase and down the hall are the 3 Queen bedrooms all of which have been thoughtfully furnished with functional furniture and wall art. One of these bedrooms has a walk-in closet as well as a door leading outside to a private seating area under the trees. The laundry room has a new large-capacity washer and dryer and kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and all accessories. Just past this area and leading to the double car garage is a large exercise room with nice equipment and views of the backyard.

There are 4 doors leading to the backyard which is completely enclosed by a stucco wall and offer several areas to gather around a table or relax on the hammock or just enjoy the open space and nature. The silence can be deafening.

Guests have access to two swimming pools within the community. One is merely 30 steps from the front door and the second is a short 3 minute drive. The pools open Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day annually. A pool waiver must be signed before the access code is released.

This villa sits in the lower section of the community on a private, gated, quiet cul-de-sac with only 6 total units. The villa community itself sits adjacent to the Santa Fe National Forest providing guests with an abundance of hiking, biking and walking trails all close to Ski Santa Fe as well.

We are available by text, phone or FaceTime 24/7. We are adhering by a non-contact check-in so will most likely not see you but are within a 5 minute drive if needed for any needs that arise during your stay.

Entire Home. The pools are community pools and shared with the other villas. The closest pool is shared with 6 other villas and the upper pool is a short drive away and shared with the Bishop`s Lodge Villa community.

We traveled with our two college-age sons and stayed in a three bedroom/two bath unit which was more than adequate and extremely comfortable and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed to make full course meals, there was plenty of firewood for nightly fires, and questions for management were promptly addressed. The southwestern touches throughout the unit were lovely and much appreciated. Santa Fe Plaza, the Rail Yard District and numerous restaurant are all within an easy 5-10 minute walk. This kitchen is well-suited to cooking for groups, owing to its additional pantry space with microwave, ice machine, extra dishwasher, and a range of coffee prep options including a Keurig, and drip. You’ll find all the plates, glasses, and cookware you need here, and a dining suite with seating for 8 and unique hand-wrought iron pendant light.

Just next door to the kitchen is the formal dining room. The details are what make this space special: gorgeous brick domed ceiling with a one-of-a-kind toleware-style chandelier, second elegant dining table with wood inlay, and comfortable seating for 8. LOCATION
We are tucked away in downtown Santa Fe, just blocks from the Plaza and a short walk to the trendy Railyard District. The Santa Fe Opera and Meow Wolf are about a 10-minute drive and Ski Sana Fe is 16 miles from the complex.

- "Check in was easy with directions for the code 24 hours prior. Well equipped kitchen, nice extras of firewood, starters and ice melt. No steps to get into home in one direction. Comfortable beds, pretty decor, easy to operate TV. We built a fire in the fireplace and needed more starter wood, the main office supplied those within minutes and even after hours when I left a message to check if the flu was open on the fireplace got an immediate response. They supplied coffee. Walk to the plaza is just a couple blocks. Really enjoyed our stay at this location, anything else touristy to drive to all seemed to be less than 10 minutes to anything. Will stay here again."

- "Stayed in Rowe at this lovely home only 20 miles outside of Santa Fe. The grounds are immaculate, the back porch is perfect for star watching, and they just installed a brand new jacuzzi that we enjoyed several evenings. The kitchen is well stocked with all the tools and utensils needed to make nice home-cooked meals. There is covered parking for your vehicle, and 4 nice bedrooms, all with queen-sized beds. The living room was perfect for congregating in the evening to enjoy quiet conversation. Highly recommend this property!"

- "We liked it" - "We really enjoyed this beautiful home." - "The house can sleep 10, but is ill equipped for even 5 adults. We have stayed at many VRBOs and this one just did not deliver. 1. The internet was spotty when it worked. With 5 adults, staying for 7 days, we expected our phones and computers to be able to connect to the internet. To be fair, the owner did get it fixed 3 days into our stay. However, the only way to contact him was through email which proved very difficult since we didn't have internet and the area is in a spotty location. 2. The towels were quite small and very thin. There was only one per guest. 3. The kitchen was poorly equipped in that it did not have a blender, colander, baking pan, enough plates, forks or knives, salt and pepper, oil, paper towels and only one dish towel. When cooking for a family of 5, we found that this was difficult to cook and clean. 4. The picture did not represent the yard is over grown and not manicured. There is a bush that covers the walkway from the driveway to the front door and buzzes with a swarm of some kind of insect. 5. The kitchen had ants, the bedroom/bath had bugs. 6. There was no cable tv, all of it was streaming services which did not work when the internet was down. 7. The couch sits on bricks. The living room furniture was uncomfortable. The house is in a good location and spacious. Unfortunately, we were not very comfortable due to the above reasons. I should also mention there is no grill. We will look elsewhere when we come to visit again."
