The drive way coming into the property could use some work, big pot hole as you are pulling in and the numbers on the cabin are hard to read, thank goodness they have a map on-line of where each cabin is. I've stayed at this property twice now in 2 different cabins, loved my stay both times. Stayed during the week and hardly anyone was there, so very quiet. Grocery store right across the street and downtown close enough to walk to. The wildlife is amazing, deer and elk frequent the property often and will walk almost right up on the porch. The staff is always friendly and easy to reach. "

- "Save yourself the headache and do not book this property through hotels.com. I booked this property for a family of 5 for Memorial weekend. One of the most busiest weekends in Ruidoso. This property was booked in advance because we knew there was limited amounts of properties available. Our check in date was Friday and checkout date Monday. I booked this property through Hotels.com and arrived on the property Friday. We unpacked all our belongings for the long weekend and stocked up on groceries for our 4 day stay. We had an early baseball game Saturday, had lunch at the property and showered to get ready for our day to discover things to do with our 3 kids for the day. As we were leaving the property another family arrived stating that they booked the same property and were checking in. It turns out the property is listed on multiple sites and Hotels.com did not communicate our booking with the property managers and double booked the property. Our family was forced to vacate the property immediately. After explaining our situation with customer service and the property manager they refused to accept our receipt and booked confirmation. We let the property manager know we will need time to pack all our belongings, groceries and sort out the housing issue for the rest of the weekend. The property manager arrived threatened to call the police when they actively saw us packing our belongings. With no where to stay it took 2+hrs for Hotels.com to find us a place to stay. "

SIMPLICITY:
Our cabin offers comfortable bedding, sitting area, and charging ports for electronics. There is a standing fan unit for warmer weather and a thermostat-controlled heating unit for cooler weather, along with all bedding and bath towels for up to 2 guests. While embracing the simplicity of cabin life, we've made sure you don't miss out on the basics. The cabin also has a heater for colder seasons, but please note that this is a camper's cabin and does not have A/C.

RUSTIC AMENITIES:
While the cabin itself has no indoor plumbing, just steps away from the cabin, you'll find an outhouse. For more extensive needs, our bathhouse on the property is equipped with hot showers, ensuring you can freshen up comfortably after a day of adventure. The space
A few details to know BEFORE you book:

-For summer stays: Cloudcroft homes do not typically have a/c. The average temperature high during the summer is 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit, so a/c is not needed. This cabin is equipped with several fans for circulation. Occasionally the bedroom loft does get warm during the heat of the day, but after the sun goes down it cools to a comfortable temperature for a good night’s sleep.

-For winter stays: The cabin is on a pier foundation, so the floors can be cool against your feet in the winter. We recommend house slippers for winter stays. We have central heating, radiator heating , and a wood burning fireplace to keep the air temperature warm. This cabin is designed as a summer cabin, but makes a fun winter getaway for those who enjoy a slightly cooler environment.

-Verizon and T-Mobile users get good service, but AT&T does not get service.

-The cabin is .25 miles from a paved road, and we have a long driveway adjacent to the cabin. 4 wheel drive is not normally needed, but may be necessary in extreme winter conditions.

-Wildlife can often be seen wandering the neighborhood.
-Pets are welcome, but we ask that you do not leave them unattended in the cabin without being kenneled. An extra small kennel is available at the cabin.

-No extra fee or pet deposit is required for pets. (Just our way of making travel a little simpler.)

Other things to note
There is no grocery store in Timberon, so we recommend coming prepared with everything you need. We do have a small convenience store with limited items, but it’s best to bring all your essentials. Also, make sure you have enough gas for the 32-mile trip from Cloudcroft, as there is no gas station in Timberon. Be ready to enjoy your getaway without any worries!

The Pinon studio log vacation cabin rental is situated along Bear Creek Canyon at an elevation of 4800 feet. Our southwestern New Mexico location, with its near perfect weather year round is hard to beat! Average 280+ days of sunshine, stunning blue skies and 7"-13" of rain annually provide milder summers and winter weather folks from up north dream about while shoveling snow! The Pinon Log Cabin is our version of a comfortably furnished, rustic studio-type vacation rental perfect for a single or a familiar two. With approximately 430 square feet, this little cabin is big on ease.

Unexpected beauty is hidden along the valley where Bear Creek meanders. Sitting at the end of a well maintained 4 mile dirt road, you will find our 360 acres in southwest New Mexico surrounded by ancient cottonwood, Pinon and sycamore trees. (GPS: 32.969224, -108.525218).

This "end of the road" cabin along with our 4 other rustic properties, will satisfy your need to disconnect, escape the cold, the crowds, the stress. The quaint Village of Gila is a 10 minute drive away and offers a medical clinic, library, post office, art gallery and is truly the "Gateway to the Gila Forest". Still convenient to major shopping in Silver City, NM and an easy 35 minute drive, you'll enjoy browsing a variety of shops, antique stores and boho, silver, turquoise homemade jewelry bodegas. You'll find a long list of of things to do and see: day or evening fine dining or fast food; multi-cultural cuisine or eclectic funk, Western New Mexico University, our local Farmers Market, theatre, an annual Fiesta, Little Toad Creek Brewery & Restaurant, art galleries, or antique stores (check out Manzanita Ridge)!! Day trips to big cities such as Tucson AZ, Las Cruces NM, and El Paso TX are easily made.

Fully furnished, perhaps our personal favorite, the kitchen features custom-designed Italian stone counter tops, a 4-burner stove top, microwave, two apartment-sized refrigerators, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, toaster oven, crock pot/slow cooker, blender, dishes, flatware, cooking pots, utensils and a dinning bar with stools where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. For your convenience, the pantry is supplied with complimentary items such as gourmet spices, condiments, small amounts of sugar, coffee creamer, tea, cooking oil and spray, pasta, rice, microwave popcorn, canned meat chunks, foil. A few miles from your cabin you'll find our local convenience store/gas station stocked with fresh dairy products, eggs, ice cream, bread, canned fruits and vegetables, frozen meat, lunch meat, soda, snacks - open 7 days a week.

The hotel quality queen bed beckons you to sleep in just a little longer than usual, all snuggled-up in the luxurious Egyptian cotton linens. The radiant, in-floor heating will keep your toes nice and warm on chilly mornings and, if you are here during the warmer months, you can count on the Air Conditioner to keep you cool!

The living area in this quaint little gem features a comfortable Italian leather love seat with matching easy chair with plenty of throw pillows. There is a chest of drawers and vintage cedar armoire. This cabin also boasts a full bath, with shower and tub, and for the evenings when the star-studded sky isn’t quite enough entertainment, there is also a TV/DVD library. The Pinon log vacation cabin is our version of a Southwestern studio-style log cabin. At 450 square feet, this little cabin is big on comfort with everything you need to feel right at home. Feel free to walk about on our many acres adjacent to nearly 15 square miles of public land accessible from the Double E Ranch Trail. At New Mexico Cabin Rentals, you can stroll nearly 2 miles along Bear Creek or be adventurous, do a little "off road" and create your own trails. Climb to the top of Turtle Rock and explore “Apache Corral.” The views are truly spectacular! Wander the ridges looking for the ancient remnants of the Mimbres Indians who lived along Bear Creek 1100 to 1300 years ago.
You are welcome to say 'hey' to the horses at the barn and corrals. All are friendly, some more than others. As a rule, we don't offer our horses food from our hands. If you'd like to offer them apples or carrots, better to drop the treat into their feed tub.

Other things to note
Gila NM, New Mexico Cabin Rentals at Double E Ranch is tucked along the southwestern edge of the 3 million acre Gila National Forest and the Gila Wilderness Region in southwestern New Mexico. With only a few cell phone towers in the entire county, cell phone coverage while driving can be spotty at times. Driving to the nearest shopping, restaurants, local tourist attractions or hiking destinations may 'feel' like a long way. Most NM State roads are well maintained but can be narrow, winding and have only 2 lanes. You might drive for miles without seeing another car (maybe a cow or two). Best appreciated by those seeking spectacular vistas, wide open expanses, cultural diversity, friendly folks, blue skies and sunshine, dark star filled night skies and no sounds but the breeze, the creek, the birds. We sincerely appreciate your visit and hope you find our corner of the world just as magical as we do!
From Albuquerque: We are approximately 250 miles (5.5 hours) from Albuquerque. From I-25 head south. At Socorro, exit onto Highway 60 south, driving through Socorro. Make sure your gas tank is topped off before leaving Socorro. The distances are great...the gas stations are few. Watch for the sign indicating Highway 60 makes a right turn. Continue through Magdalena, to Datil. Watch your speed limits! The road is very straight and some drivers are tempted to push the pedal down a bit. Be advised NM State Highway Patrol will be happy to "welcome" you. At Datil, turn left onto Highway 12 and continue to Reserve. In Reserve, Highway 12 makes a right turn. Follow Highway 12 about 7 more miles to Highway 180; turn left onto Highway 180 and drive south till you get to Cliff. At Cliff, turn left onto Highway 211. Drive past the school, bear to the right at the "Y", continuing across the Gila River. Once in Gila, bear to the left at the next "Y" onto Highway 153, go 1 short block to Hooker Loop. There will be a small trailer park on your right. Turn right onto Hooker Loop 3.2 miles. Watch for the large wooden Double E Ranch sign, bearing to the right onto Double E Ranch Road.
Drive to the bottom of Double E Ranch Road hill. Do NOT turn onto Casita Flats Road. This is PRIVATE PROPERTY and will take you in the wrong direction. Continue driving to the bottom of the hill. Once at the bottom of the hill, bear slightly to the right again, where you will see the green/yellow signs directing you to your cabin location

From Phoenix: Leaving the airport, head to Highway 60 East, toward Globe. In Globe, Highway 60 makes a left turn at the traffic light near Wal-Mart. You will continue driving straight ahead (east) because at this point Highway 70 begins. Drive through the San Carlos Apache Reservation and into Safford. This is the last opportunity to buy gasoline for 100 miles. Drive east out of Safford, on Highway 70 about 10 miles, and turn left onto Highway 191, which will take you toward Morenci/Clifton. At the 3-way stop, continue driving east without turning. Highway 191 becomes Highway 78 as you begin to climb into the mountains. Be careful! Sharp curves, drive slowly! Dropping down out of the mountains, through Mule Creek, you will intersect with Highway 180. Turn right onto 180 about 30 miles, through Buck Horn, to Cliff. In Cliff, turn left onto Highway 211. When you cross the Gila River, you will be in the Village of Gila. At the fork in Gila, bear to the left onto Highway 153 one block, turning right onto Hooker Loop (notice a very unattractive trailer “park”), drive 3.1 miles on Hooker Loop. Look for the large wooden ranch sign at Double E Ranch Road, bear to right at the Double E Ranch Sign.
Follow Double E Ranch Road to the bottom of the hill where signs will direct you to your cabin. Do NOT turn onto Casita Flats Road located midway down Double E Ranch Road. This is PRIVATE PROPERTY and will take you in the wrong direction.

From Tucson: We are an easy 4-hour drive from the airport in Tucson. Leave Tucson on Highway 10 East. Once in New Mexico, take "Silver City" exit at Lordsburg. Once you leave the Highway 10, you will travel north approximately 1 mile. Look for signs "Silver City", Highway 90. You will make a right turn onto Highway 90. Drive 40 miles. Near Silver City, you will cross a large bridge near the Tyrone Mines. About 1 mile past this bridge, on the left, look for "Truck By-Pass Road" and a sign for "Cliff". Turn left onto Truck By-Pass Road driving 1 mile. It will intersect with Highway 180. Left turn onto Hwy 180. There will be a large billboard sign "GILA - Gateway to the Gila Wilderness" on your right. Just beyond this sign you will make a right turn onto NM Hwy 211. Drive 4 miles to Gila. Once in Gila, Highway 211 bears to the left. DO NOT BEAR LEFT! Continue driving straight ahead (north) which becomes Hwy 153 for one block, to Hooker Loop There is a small unattractive trailer park on your right. Turn right onto Hooker Loop 3.2 miles, bearing right at Double E Ranch sign onto Double E Ranch Road.

From El Paso: We are an easy 3.5-hour drive from the airport in El Paso. Once on I-10 west, exit at Deming turn north (right) onto Highway 180 West to Silver City. Follow 180 through Silver City, watch for the right turn at the Sonic Drive-In; continue West on Highway 180 about 25 miles (mile marker 89), turn right onto Highway 211 to Gila. The Town of Gila is 4 miles. Once in Gila, you will arrive at a fork in the road. Continue driving straight (north), you will see the sign for NM Hwy 153, for ONE BLOCK to Hooker Loop. Turn right onto Hooker Loop driving 3.2 miles to Double E Ranch Road. Bear right at Double E Ranch sign.

Enjoy a romantic get away to the mountains. A modern cabin centrally located near all the Jemez has to offer. Within miles of hiking trails, fishing, hot springs, and the Valles Caldera. Peaceful outdoor seating with fire pit (bring firewood). Jetted spa bath tub. Well equipped kitchen and propane grill. We are happily pet friendly but do charge a small cleaning fee for your furry friends. Please make sure to add them to your itinerary so we can prepare their amenities!

The space
You are renting a cabin casita on our lovely property in the mountains. It is a one bedroom cabin with a kitchenette, dining area, reading/sitting room, and modern style spa bathroom. There is also outdoor seating and a propane grill you are welcome to use.

You’re welcome to walk around the property. We own a good sized plot and if you have any questions about the property feel free to message or walk over. If you choose to walk around please stick to our property or the dirt roads due to most land around us being private property.

Other things to note
We are down a private dirt road. Easily accessible in a car during the summer but 4WD or AWD with snow tires highly recommended in the snowy months. It’s advised to bring a little cash due to power outage. When the power is out the local store goes to cash only. We have a backup generator on property so your stay won’t be otherwise affected. We also recommend using google maps and making sure to load it before ya come up. There are sections with no service depending on your cell provider and Apple Maps for some reason stops directions short on our road. We have provided a fire pit with seating outside but do not provide firewood. Firewood can be purchased at Amanda’s Store right up the street or feel free to bring your own from home.

Two bedrooms and one bath in a cabin that's minutes from anywhere around Cloudcroft. Cabin 16 and Cabin 17 are connected by a wall, but there is no shared space between the two cabins. Cabin 16 is a smaller sized cabin that begins with a smaller, cozy porch. The front door opens up to a one bedroom with two queen beds. After there is a small kitchen to the left and one small bathroom to the right.

The space
If you are looking for very upscale accommodations then we are not the place for you. Our cabins are older and more rustic, offering authentic, homey cabin experiences for you and your family. Our cabins include everything from a stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, cookware, Charcoal BBQ grill, furnished linens/towels/blankets, Cable TV, A/C, heaters, and fireplaces. Firewood can be purchased through us.
We are located in the heart of Ruidoso: five to ten minutes away from everything in town while still being surrounded by trees and animal life. We have a hiking path behind us that leads to the river, a park, and The Pony Ring (selling Roasted Corn). Our cabins are meant for the experience and provide the luxury of memories made together, instead of fancifulness.

Please come to the office to pick up your key. You can do a contactless check-in as long as your reservation is updated with the correct guest count and pet count. Please call the office to let us know your preference. Check-in is anytime after 3pm. Checkout is at 11am. You may contact the office to discuss a later checkout time.
Please do not show up with more guests than you initially booked unless you have spoken with the office. You will be responsible for any extra guest fees. If you bring more guests than the cabin can sleep, you will have to rent another cabin; if one is not available your extra guest will not be allowed to stay.
We are not responsible for any lost items or items left behind.

We are pet friendly. The fee is $10 per pet, per night. Guests are responsible for this payment before entering the cabin. Pets must be leashed and cleaned up after.
We offer gas grills at $10 your entire stay. We do sometimes have to share the gas grills amongst the cabins as we only have five available to rent. Charcoal grills are free and come with each cabin. Charcoal is not provided.
We sell firewood in two sizes. Please ask the office for details upon arrival.
Any damages caused by guests to the cabins will be charged to them, prices determined by incidents.
