Casa Pergola is a once olive mill, lovingly restored farmhouse set in the beautiful Sicilian countryside. The house is a short drive to the beaches and coastal villages of the north coast. Vibrant Palermo "Italy's City of Culture for 2018" is 30 minutes away, and the Madonie Mountain hill cities are a short drive to the East. In winter there is skiing in the mountains and beautiful nights by the fire place which is massive and romantic. Some amenities include heated saltwater pool, and hand made shower mosaics in the bathrooms. The bedrooms are beautiful and comfortable.

The terrace is the highlight of this beautiful home - enjoy your caffe latte at sunset, and cocktails as the end of the day, it can be hard to tear yourself away from this relaxing space! But it is Paola who really makes this property five star, what a terrific host. She was so accommodating and kind when we arrived a full day late (thanks to missed connection in Zurich), making sure to have food waiting (including delicious local pastries). Very much appreciated, as we were exhausted by the time we arrived. She provided excellent information as our arrival date approached and was extremely responsive during our stay, offering recommendations and answering all our questions promptly and enthusiastically. The house is even more beautiful than the pictures suggest, simply decorated, and very comfortable. There is no AC, but ceiling fans in every bedroom more than sufficed (in mid-Sept). The layout - with the large main living/dining area flanked by two bedrooms/one bath wings - allowed privacy within a very open space feel. The area was quiet at night (expect for the wonderful surprise of fireworks/local religious festival on our first weekend) and we enjoyed regular walks to the nearby lighthouse at Capo Zefferano. There is also a little shop in the village. We would definitely recommend this villa - there is a large window which gives a panoramic view of the infinity pool and scenery. The villa has a second floor where the family live but you’re totally independent with separate parking entrance and sole use of the pool. So we felt independent. Benny was super responsive, and a lovely guy, so all good. You need to be prepared to drive everywhere though, as San Nicola L’arena is too far to walk. But with a car everything is close. We were taken care of by 2 housekeepers but they were never intrusive or nosy, always polite and helpful. One example of how great the host and housekeepers were: The thing about our group - we like to cook and eat good, so when we found out there was original, wood fueled, Italian brick pizza oven in the back of the garden we just had to try to use it.
