This 100-year-old loft, featured on HGTV's Restore America, pays homage to its historic roots as a hotel in the early 1900's. It has been renovated for modern living and offers all the comforts and conveniences of home. Come for a staycation or venture out as it is located within walking distance of many local businesses, community events, and recreation while drivable to many of Michigan's attractions.
The space
This 2nd-story loft is a blend of contemporary and historic design. There are original hardwood floors, historic wood trim, and a skylight over the entry corridor that welcomes you to the loft. We recently relisted the loft for short-term stays August 2023. When we previously had the loft listed we were consecutively Superhosts month after month! We have been renting the loft to long-term tenants the past few years. After the last tenants moved out, we renovated the loft and have brought new furnishings into the space making it refreshed and ready for many new and returning guests.
The loft has two bedrooms with queen beds. Each bed has a memory foam mattress pad, as well as firm and soft pillows. The bedrooms have nightstands with bedside lamps, dressers, closet space, and ceiling fans operated by remote.
There is one bathroom in the loft. The European style bathroom is open and spacious. It includes a rain shower and claw foot soaking tub. Spa towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and bubble bath are included. Toiletries are available during your stay. Please only take what you need and leave the rest for the next guest.
The stacked washer and dryer are located outside of the bathroom in the laundry closet. Laundry detergent and dryer sheets are available.
The kitchen includes stainless steel appliances including refrigerator and freezer, gas stove and oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, crockpot, blender, tea pot, small coffee pot, and single serve Keurig. The kitchen also includes pots, pans, cooking utensils, glassware, flatware, and dinnerware. The dining room, which seats six, is connected to the kitchen and living room.
The living room has a new sectional with chaise, Samsung TV ready for your favorite streaming service, a double-sided fireplace, ceiling fan, and large windows overlooking Michigan Avenue and the Battle Creek River.
If you are looking to get some work done during your stay, there is a den with a small desk. Upgraded, high speed fiber internet is available during your stay.
