The Sugar Pines studio at the historic Washoe motel is a cozy budget friendly studio with a small kitchenette and a queen size bed . Close to bike trails and hiking and 5 minutes from Pope Beach , Kiva Beach and Camp Richardson. - "Bear themed room. Garbage can was full. Someone elses food was in the refrigerator. The freezer was full of old frost ice build up. No paper towels in the towel holder. Bed was old an creaky. Bed was covered with a 3 inch foam mat. No TV. Wifi was skectchy. Bedstand lightbulb was burned out. Parking lot was dirty, lots of pine needles and pine cones all over the place. Not an inviting property. Not acceptable. Fees were ridiculous $ 65 host, VRBO administrative fees $ 85 Tax and fees $ 45. All of.this was MORE then the charge for just this room."

- "The room has a cabin feel and was cozy and clean. It was pretty quiet and peaceful there. My only complaint is I had warm water the first night for a shower and the next two days, the water was cold. A bear comes through the parking lot periodically (which I never saw in three days but others did) They had dishes and coffee supplied which was nice. I would definitely stay here again if I knew I’d have hot water. The employees are very friendly 🙂"

It is located along the main drag of South Lake Tahoe with some good places to eat nearby. Cigarette butts and dog feces on grounds--perhaps because there were no bins to dispose of waste. Sparse outdoor seating. Wiped up a water spill on the floor of our room with a paper towel and it came away filthy. The bed had as much motion as a water bed. No vanity in the bathroom so where do you put your toiletries? Sparse kitchenette with minimal utensils and strange mini-appliances. Convenient location but far from comfortable accommodations."

The Space:
This cozy studio cabin has it all. You’ll have everything you need to enjoy a few days in the area. This mid-sized studio cabin has a full kitchen, private bathroom, and a small dining area. It's perfect for a couple's retreat in the mountains, a quick work trip, or a weekend getaway.

Please note this studio does not have a proper living room or couch. If you desire to have a larger space for an extended stay, this may not be the best option.

Please note that our cabin only has central heating and no AC. Evenings typically cool down enough to open up windows and help air out the room.

Welcome to our 1 Bedroom place near the heart of it all. We are walking distance to the Gondola and the Casinos. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but close to all the action. A perfect combination for a relaxing night after a day of skiing. Cook your own meal in a fully stocked kitchen or bring in food to sit down and eat at the dining table. The cozy beds brings you that Tahoe feel as you settle in for the night.

The space
Open floorplan give a spacious feel. There is a comfortable pullout bed on the sofa which is much better than the traditional sofa bed. There are no iron bars poking you in the back. The kitchen is open and stocked. The table is welcoming and lets you enjoy a meal or get work done.

The space
Amazing Location!

Literally 1.5 blocks from Highway 50 and Stateline, within a stone's throw of Heavenly Village & The Gondola, casinos, and restaurants. This is a private studio as part of a boutique 11-unit self-serve accommodation. Completely renovated in 2020, this unit comes with an en-suite bath with an oversized shower, kitchenette (induction double stovetop upon request) w/Keurig machine, and a king bed and a work desk. Equipped with a smart TV and on-demand streaming services (guest needs to have own subscription service/no cable). All TVs and wifi are connected to Gigabit cable connectivity.

*NO PARTIES: We have a strict 'No Party' policy-parties or events are not allowed. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 pm to 8 am.*

*PETS: ONLY 1 PET ALLOWED (N/A to service animals, applicable to ESA's). A pet fee will apply; pets can not be left unattended in your room. Please add your pet to the reservation, or disclose your pet to our hospitality team after booking.

Guest access
The unit is accessed off of Poplar Ave and has direct access from the parking area and has one assigned parking spot, #9. This unit is completely private with its own locked entry. The doors are all equipped with smart locks. The unique access code will be generated and sent to you by SMS on the morning of your arrival, to the phone number on file.

Interaction

This is a self-serve stay. We are off-site hosts; there is no front desk or office, and we provide contactless self-check-in. We have a dedicated hospitality phone line in case of emergencies (24/7) and our team is available on call, text, or chat during 5 am - 1 am to help assist you during your stay!

Electric car charging (shared amenity)

South Lake Chalet offers 5 EV chargers for our registered guests’ use only. Please scan the QR code posted above chargers to follow payment instructions. Spots for unit 1 have access to one Tesla (white), and one J1772 (black) charger. Unit spots 2,3 and 4 share one white Tesla charger. Spots 7, 8, and 9 share one J1772 black charger. Unit spots 10, 11 and the ADA spot (please park with a valid placard only, to avoid being towed by the City) share one Tesla charger. Please do not leave your vehicle plugged in when not charging to allow other guests to have charging access. Should you require access to another charger type, please reach out to our hospitality team to coordinate access with other guests.

Beach Access Vouchers

All South Lake Chalet guests will receive a Lakeside Beach voucher for discounted, $5 per person beach access, valued at $30 per person, upon arrival. Beach wristbands purchased will also provide a 50% discount on beach chair and sun umbrella rentals from the Lakeside Beach Association. The beach is open between Memorial Day and closes mid-September, depending on the weather. Vouchers are not needed or provided during beach closure months.

Neighborhood

Located within a 5-minute walk to the world-renowned, Heavenly Village and Gondola, Gordon Ramsey Hell's Kitchen, casinos and only a 10-minute walk to Lakeside Beach (private, access fee required). This location is ideal for those working remotely (with Gigabit internet connectivity) while enjoying everything South Lake Tahoe has to offer.

Transit

The Stateline Transit Center and Heavenly Gondola are only 4 blocks away.

Please be mindful that we don't have an on-site office, and inquiries may not be addressed after 9:00 pm, embracing the charming ambiance of a lodge rather than a 24-hour hotel.

Guest access
We only offer self check-in to our guests. The check-in instructions will be sent at 04:00 PM. Guests will receive access codes to the key safe located at the unit's front door for seamless entry to the property.

Other things to note
Check-in is anytime after 4:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs during peak seasons.

Note that the studio doesn't have AC as Tahoe's summer climate is generally mild.

Please be aware that there's no on-site office, and inquiries may not be addressed after 9:00 PM, as we aren't a 24-hour hotel.
