No bathroom facility in unit. Campground bathroom and shower facilities near by. Campground is on our small farm at the edge of town.

For some or all meals, use the fully equipped kitchen on main floor, or walk/take one of our bikes to the many great shops and restaurants downtown! Upon your return, relax and stargaze in our outdoor hot tub, as the evenings cool down in the Black Hills.

This is the original carriage house from 1892 that has been converted into living quarters with a small fenced in outdoor space. The cozy cottage is made up of two levels. On the floor level, is a small kitchen, bathroom, and sitting area with gas fire place (love seat pulls out to a single bed). On the second level, via a narrow steep hayloft staircase, is a king bed, tv, and private balcony. This quaint space is the perfect get away.

The third-floor suite at our bed-and-breakfast is newly renovated, with plenty of room for four (on a king bed and a split queen that can be made as two twins) and a luxury bathroom with heated marble floor, clawfoot tub, and vertical spa shower. The house is in Deadwood's historic Presidential District, which is only a six-minute walk from the city center but has beautiful views of the surrounding pine-covered hills.

The space
The 1899 Inn is Deadwood's only turn-of-the-century inn with full breakfast service. Nestled in the town's Presidential District (all the streets in the neighborhood are named after American presidents), the house is in one of the oldest and most prestigious quarters in the city. No more than a five-minute walk from the important stuff, including the casinos and historic buildings on Main Street, the Adams Museum and the Mickelson Trail. The Adams House is just five houses over, and Mount Moriah Cemetery, the final resting place of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane, is a few minutes walk to the top of our hill.

The home itself is one of the biggest Victorians built in Deadwood, with seven bedrooms and five bathrooms. It has original woodwork and stained glass, but we've updated and modernized the plumbing (endless hot water!), HVAC (central heat and air conditioning!), and electrical. It was constructed in 1899 by H.B. Wardman, one of those rich-but-never-famous Deadwood businessmen who was mayor of the town in the 1920s. The house still has a lot of the original fixtures and 19th century technology (call bells, gas lighting fixtures, etc.).

The third-floor suite is our newest and largest bedroom. The main space has a sleigh-style king bed with nightstands, LED reading lights with USB charging ports, a small seating area, a wardrobe for hanging clothes, and an internet-connected HDTV with cable and Netflix. The space under the east gable has a custom-built split queen bed that can be made up as a regular queen, or as two 30-inch twins that slide apart. The whole space is floored in oak, has custom wainscoting cabinetry along the walls, and has an individual climate control system.

The en suite private bathroom is accessed with a sliding pocket door, and has a toilet in a separate water closet, heated marble tile floor, cast iron slipper clawfoot tub, double sink marble vanity, and walk-in vertical spa with two shower heads and four body jets. A small privacy window lets in light from the west gable, making for romantic light around sunset. We think it might be the best bathroom experience available to guests in the Black Hills.

The space is relatively quiet and doesn't get much direct sunlight, so it's well-suited for guests who like to sleep in a bit.

In addition to the suite on the third floor, all guests also have access to common spaces on the main floor. There are two parlors - one with fireplace, one with TV - and the formal dining room. There are also seating areas on our covered porches.

Other things to note
Full plated breakfast service in our formal dining room is included with your reservation. The menu is chef's choice and varies each day, but often includes fresh-baked sourdough bread. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or requests when you make your reservation.

The City of Deadwood doesn't allow our guests to park on the street, but there's a small private parking lot behind the inn. If your party has more than one vehicle, or if you have an oversize vehicle or trailer, please let us know when you book. We can direct you to a free public parking lot three blocks away with plenty of space.

Fun things to do at the property:
- HOT TUB! There is a large decked area with a privacy fence around a community hot tub.
-Spearfish Creek. The edge of the property is on the border of Spearfish Creek. Great fishing!
-A nice, flat screen smart TV in every cottage with great streaming options included for free.
-Walk paths! We are in the center of town so there are several paths to walk the dog or take the kiddos to the park (several within 1 mile).

Property Rules:

--This property is dog-friendly! If you plan to bring your dog, you must get pre-approval and pay the pet fee before check-in. We allow up to 2 dogs as long as they are fully potty trained, will stay off of the bed and couch, and will not be in the house alone unless kenneled. City law requires dogs to be on a leash while outside and because there are other cottages on the property and potentially other dogs visiting with their owners, it is extra important that dogs be on a leash when outside. Dog waste must be disposed of and any damages or additional cleaning may incur additional fees. We cannot currently accept cats, birds, etc at this property.

-No Smoking or Vaping of any substances. If we find evidence of any kind of smoking or vaping in the property there will be a minimum of $250 added to your stay. The property is smoke free.

-Please respect neighbors by being quiet after 10pm and 8am. Our guests' sleep is important to us! You are in your own house with no shared walls so it is pretty easy to meet this expectation.

-If you choose to use the hot tub the hours are 8am-10pm. No drinks or food allowed for sanitary and safety. Please shower before using the hot tub. It is a community hot tub so please respect other guests who may be using it as well. There is no lifeguard on duty and by using the hot tub you are accepting responsibility for your own safety.

- Parking is allowed along the edge of the property on the gravel parking area. Please no parking sideways on the street or large trailers. If you need trailer parking, the property along Ames St is our parking and can fit 2 trailers. Otherwise, trailers must be detached and parked the same direction as other vehicles.
