Last bedroom across the bathroom with a very comfy queen bed to rest in. You will also enjoy the front view of this property.
The newly renovated guest bathroom will set the soothing mood to relax and shower with different ambient lighting of your choice .
Other things to note.
If you need access to laundry: You will notice a door in the kitchen area; our office/living quarters are in the basement with a separate laundry room. Please let us know if you will need the laundry room and we can give you access. Feel free to reach out if you need anything. Home is not child proof. We hope you enjoy your stay!

Other things to note
Guests have their designated parking spot. When parking, please pull straight in the driveway and park to the far right beside the brick wall on the right. Enter through the black fence gate between the garage and the house. The apartment is above the garage and the steps and deck for entry are on the back. If you return after dark during your stay, there are motion detector lights that will light the stairway. A flood light for the walkway between the house and garage will stay dimly lit all night, motion will increase the brightness.

Separate bottom level apartment of home. You’ll enjoy privacy of your own apartment and parking space within a neighborhood. While we strive to provide peace and quiet to our guests, please be aware that the apartment lays below the main part of the home. You will hear signs of life from above such as pitter patter of a toddler running down the hallway, muffled voices, and us just walking around living everyday life. From prior feedback, it’s not intrusive but can be noticeable at times. We ask that if any noises should bother you, let us know and we will seek to remedy it right away.

The space
The bedroom was originally built as a smokehouse. Connected to the main house by a covered breezeway, the guest house includes a foyer with dining table, bedroom with queen sized bed, bathroom and kitchenette. Side porches overlook a peaceful property with large magnolia, oak, pecan and walnut trees. We are close enough to the square to hear church bells chiming, but far enough away that you only barely hear the train with the windows open.

History of the property: For those of you interested in the history of the home, there are two rather famous Georgians who have lived on this property. Governor Charles McDonald lived here in the 1840’s. His main house was burned down during the civil war, but the bedroom of the guesthouse remained, with its stone walls as well as the foundation of the main house. In the late 1800’s a second governor, Joseph Mackey Brown, lived here. During this time the house was very grand; a place where many large parties were held in a ballroom with balconies and turrets. Also, a famous civil war artist, Alfred Waud, actually died while staying here sketching battlefield scenes and is buried in the nearby St. James Episcopal Cemetery. This is the cemetery where Jon Benet Ramsey is also buried.

Guests can seasonally enjoy the pool, spa and cabana with fireplace. We also have a couple of bikes that are available and can direct you to the bike trails. Our “she-shed” is a great space to enjoy morning coffee and a book or even work from your laptop surrounded by the beauty of the property.

Other things to note
Check in is generally at 3pm and check out by 11am, but please do not hesitate to let us know if you need an earlier or later time and we will see if we can accommodate you. We will only be taking reservations for 6 months out, so please contact us anyway if you see that we’re showing no availability beyond that. The pool and amenities are for guests staying on the property and not for use by friends and family not staying here.

The interior has a modern, yet warm and inviting feel. This clean, well-organized space will help you feel right at home. The laundry room and fitness center overlook the front gardens. The space
The two-level carriage house was built in 2014 and completely renovated in the fall of 2022. The carriage house has a private entrance, opposite the main house, with dedicated parking and is securely lit for late arrivals.

The private guest house entrance is on the first level. The stairway from the foyer leads to the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is worthy of full-time residence and includes everything you need to prep a meal away from home: a Vitamix blender, air-fryer oven, microwave, dishwasher, Instant Pot, Crate & Barrel dishware, toaster, wine opener, knives, baking dishes, a grater, K-Cup maker, extra bowls for Fido, etc.

The kitchen is adjacent to the second bedroom with a queen bed and dedicated workspace, living room with queen sleeper sofa and a second dedicated workspace, and the bathroom. The main bedroom with a king-sized bed is adjacent the living room. All French doors and windows have window shades for privacy and bedrooms have room darkening shades for light. The bedding is luxurious and meticulously maintained with your comfort in mind. No searching for outlets. Each bed and workstation have charging docks to help keep your devices ready to go.

The first level entry has access to the shared fitness center and laundry room that overlooks the front gardens. The fitness center has a 65" tv for Apple Fitness workouts, dumbbells ranging from 5-30 pounds, yoga mats, a bench, large mirrors, resistance bands, a Bosu ball, and plyometric box to help you meet your workout goals away from home. An oversized HE washer & dryer, drying rack, laundry baskets, detergent, and softener are available for your use.

The guest house yard has a patio with Adirondack chairs, a table, and umbrella for enjoying the outdoors, a pet relief area, and lawn to play. Feel welcome to explore the east side of the property where you'll find a beautiful variety of flowers, plants, and trees in the gardens during spring, summer, and fall. We're continuing to add features to the outdoor space to make it even more enjoyable for our guests and their pups.

The back entrance of the property leads to the neighborhood's best kept secret for morning and/or evening strolls and dog walking: Mountain View Cemetery. The approximately .5 mile outer loop is a great way to warm up for a workout in the fitness center or enjoy the beautiful Georgia golden hour!

The Goldsworthy property is home to the main house (circa 1887) and guest house. You will have access to guest parking, the yard on the east side of the driveway, the second floor of the guest house, as well as the laundry & fitness center on the first floor of the guest house. Access the guest house with keypad entry. Access the property from the front via the driveway on Whitlock Avenue or the back from Highland/Ridge Avenue.

Other things to note
Park in the river rock parking space on the north side of the driveway and walk along the east side (back) of the four-car garage/carriage house where you will find the private entrance. The hosts are the owners of the main house (west side of property) but do not currently reside there. You may find our family around the property maintaining the yard or heading into the main house to work on another project.

Situated in the Inn's turret, the Alpharetta room has an architecturally interesting semi-circular wall. The Eastlake Victorian king bed and Eastlake nightstands are from the era that the Stanley House was built. The private bath with a marble shower has everything you need! A flat-screen cable television sits on the mantle of the ornamental fireplace. Rates include full breakfast on the weekend, daily housekeeping, wireless internet, and free parking.
